Christian Bale wants to do third Batman movie
hecklerspray.com — Dark Knight star is certainly keen. The second film is not even out yet and he's keen to don the suit again.

- funkymonkey01, on 07/01/2008, -24/+8Already? The second one hasn't even come out yet!
- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -2/+32What do you mean "already"? I've waited 3 long years for The Dark Knight to come out. Bale wants to do a third film? Get to it!
- Nudar, on 07/01/2008, -0/+30funkeymonkey01: Yeah, that's exactly what the description says. Thanks for the repeat.
- cli006, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5The second movie is finished which leads to planning of the next project. The sooner they announce and start production, the faster it hits theaters.
- thatsmyaibo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Iron Man 2 had a release date before the first one even came out. What are you complaining about? If there is room for a 3rd one and the story permits, what's wrong with the leading actor to want to take part?
- scififan9009, on 07/01/2008, -1/+81He's more than welcome to in my book. Here's hoping for "The Dark Knight Returns" on the big screen!!
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1563893428/ ...- luet, on 07/02/2008, -1/+16I doubt it would be called the dark knight returns
- carleethian, on 07/02/2008, -1/+6I hope it's not called the dark night returns
- solid12345, on 07/02/2008, -1/+9What is so interesting about Frank Miller's work is how so many gen X/Y people love his work even though he is a pretty conservative guy, TDKR rails at the liberal nanny state that has been created where criminals are coddled and treated like the victims (joker being released for good behavior and Batman being called a fascist by psychiatrists and politicians), and of course I don't even have to bring up the premise of 300.
- cutchyacokov, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3I can't help but like these movies, but I like V for Vendetta 10X as much.
- Tyrghast, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3People who try to find an underlying premise to the movie/comic 300 need to reevaluate themselves. Not everything has a double-meaning. Sometimes you just have to make a ridiculous, over-the-top action movie. The rest of the time you can spend on thoughtful movies, like Requiem for a Dream or The Fountain.
- Scranklin, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3ooooh I loved the fountain, despite how hard it was to follow the first time I saw it.
- Elranzer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3@cutchyacokov:
That's Alan Moore, not Frank Miller.
- brundlefly76, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4The night I went to see the first Batman movie was also the same night I read The Dark Knight Returns. You can imagine how disappointing the movie was for me in contrast.
They *will* make a Dark Knight Returns - its one of the best graphic novels of the genre.
However they need an older actor to play that role, they can't artificially age Bale, that wouldn't work. Harrison Ford could do it.
The hardest part of making Dark Knight Returns will be the costume fit - it cant be flattering but not distractingly comical either. - nycmac247, on 07/02/2008, -2/+1Little Girl Robin FTW!!!
- royalwcheese, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1I was thinking about this last night, and I believe that some aspects would just have to be adjusted for a live action film. A sixty-year old Batman would just not work. However, a 2-d animated film with a huge budget like Akira would be amazing.
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I think an old Batman could work. I'd probably cut the mutant aspect (maybe just have them as normal gangs), and maybe cut the little girl Robin. While she is definitely an integral part of the story I don't know how well it would work on the screen.
Animated route definitely could work, the Batman cartoon was awesome till they revamped it.

- Asvetic, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5I vote for Christian Bale as Batman, he's great in anything he does.
- luet, on 07/02/2008, -1/+16I doubt it would be called the dark knight returns
- mayhemchaos, on 07/01/2008, -8/+33I'm all for them pumping a new one out each summer
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 07/01/2008, -3/+33So kind of like Saw [which has a new movie every Halloween], right? Because Saw is quality work, right?
I rather have them released every three years if they continue to keep up the quality of movie. Don't want to ruin a good thing.- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -2/+13Comparing the competence of the writers of Saw to the writers of Batman is a joke. The amount of time it takes to release a movie, or any form of media, does not equal how great the product comes out.
Albums are usually released 2 - 3 years apart. The Beatles popped out Rubber Soul, to Revolver, to Sgt. Peppers, to Magical Mystery Tour, to White, to Let it Be, to Abbey Road all a year apart. - JustAn0th3rFace, on 07/01/2008, -2/+4You make a decent point referring to the Beatles. But also remember the Beatles were among the greatest musicians of the recent decades. Using your own argument, are you really comparing the talent of the Beatles to the writers of Batman? And that is music. We are talking movies here.
Find me a GOOD movie series with a new movie every year consecutively for a number of years. I can not think of one. - bossywalker, on 07/02/2008, -2/+2Lord of the Rings. Though that doesn't really count cause the script was pretty much ready and they just kept on filming once they started and they didn't have to wait and see if the first one did well or get funding, studio backing for a sequel, etc.
- lazyfisherman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0The Wire. It's not a movie like Batman but they had a hell of a run within a very short period of time.
- JustAn0th3rFace, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3Lord of the Rings was all filmed at once yet released a year apart.
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Exactly, take your time, baby... work it slow... get it nice and wet first...

- 1807, on 07/02/2008, -2/+10That's what she said?
- dafragsta, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2He's said before that he only wants to do it with Christopher Nolan. Like Tim Burton, he's not gonna want to do this and ONLY this forever. It will suck the fun out. He was off making The Prestiege between this time and last time, so I'm sure it'll be worth the wait and we'll get some other good movies out of him too.
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1he has gone Bock Buster, the art world lost him after Momento and Following...
- antdude, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Only if they are good.

- dbldn, on 07/01/2008, -3/+15He seems quite "keen" to do it? Is he peachy keen or regular keen?
My impression of the quote is that Bale will do it IF Chris Nolan is involved. Personally, I don't see that happening...- scififan9009, on 07/01/2008, -1/+14Why would Chris Nolan not be involved? I didn't see any mention that he wouldn't do a third film in the article.
- dbldn, on 07/01/2008, -4/+4In my opinion, Nolan doesn't come across as the sequel-making type. I can't see him sticking to this franchise for another movie.
- scififan9009, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3He already made a sequel to the first one. While past results don't indicate future performance, I suspect when this one rakes in the dough he'll be back to make a third.
(Unless you have some kind of personal insight or something, in which case please tell him I said "Hi." :) ) - skillet, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3'Oldman also confirmed that he and Nolan seem to be signed for three films and reluctantly admits that "I guess I have to come back." Oldman previously tried getting out of appearing in "The Dark Knight" but his contract wouldn't allow it. Nolan himself doesn't seem hugely keen to return to the franchise right now - "I take my projects one at a time, and I am not thinking about that right now. I don't know if I want to come back."'

- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5yeah....except it was always his plan to make the series 3 movies. The sequel emphasizing the Joker. The third was supposed to be focused on Jokers trial (obviously that wont happen now) with Two-Face as the main villain.
- Logrusmage, on 07/02/2008, -4/+0Err... they removed the scene with the Joker in a body bag because of Ledger's death. Obviously he wasn't getting a trial...
- MidnightRIder77, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3@Logrusmage

- noots, on 07/01/2008, -1/+9Deadshot for Batman 3, although i think Nolan will go with a more established character so everyone can see how dark/horrible they have been created compared to the older version, such as the riddler.
- Pake, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5The Riddler would be interesting to see, but I have this scary though of seeing Johnny Deep play it. Even though he could probably pull it off, I fear I would see him as Jack Sparrow more than The Riddler.
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1no, Deep is more versatile then that, plus, I think his Riddler would remind you more of Sweeney Tod, with a poetic streak.
- luet, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2THE RIDDLER? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
- noots, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2seriously dude it would work, a deeply disturbed, anorexic eccentric, who can't fight but is articulate and deep coupled with being a genius scientist (with a twist like you only catch glimpses of him in shadows etc until halfway through), it would twist things around with batman in a turmoil unable to save people/things because he can't keep up psychologically. They'd probably need a minor villain like scarecrow to add a bit of violence and fight scenes.
that's how i'd do it.

- solid12345, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2The Riddler would be awesome, people forget Batman is a star in Detective Comics and does alot of sleuth work. I have a feeling we may only get a hint of that side in TDK but would love to see him piece things together like Sherlock Holmes with Riddler's clues.
- Blankcheque, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1It's hard to top the Joker.
There's not any other character like him in comic-dom.
It's his love of mirth and murder that sets him apart.
Personally, I'd rather see the focus in a third movie focus back on Razz Al-Gul. The only other villain that could conjure fear.
- Blankcheque, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1It's hard to top the Joker.
- bone625, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5Isn't it supposed to be Two-Face? Doesn't this one outline is downfall and the next is about him? Or is two face a full out villain in this one? Hmmm...
- Peck3277, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2Ya thats what I heard. I think in this one theres not supposed to much story about the joker, he's supposed to a kind of mysterious force. The whole story then is supposed to be about Harvey Dent and his friendship with Bruce Wayne with the third one having Batman and Two-Face battling it out.
It's just what I heard so I wouldn't take that as definite

- phuibonhoa, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Christian Bale is better overall, not to mention he is in better movies, but you gotta admit Michael Keaton did a pretty good Bruce Wayne with what he had

- brainboy77, on 07/01/2008, -6/+4i want riddler in the third one. he has quite an extensive history and is one of the smartest villains ever. also, mr. freeze in the new tv show, the batman, has an awesome story arc. but the chances of him in a movie died with Ahnulld's disgusting performance.
- jtbell04, on 07/02/2008, -1/+6Oh, c'mon. He kicked ice in that role.

- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -1/+12I don't want any supernatural elements in this franchise.
- cerealjynx, on 07/01/2008, -1/+6It's not supernatural. It's super science!
- provost, on 07/01/2008, -0/+13i think george clooney should come back as any villian just to bale can kick his ass for the batman&robin movie.
- iamnobody8614, on 07/02/2008, -1/+14To be fair, that wasn't Clooney's fault, it was Schumacher's and the script writers'. An actor can only do so much with that many cheesy one-liners.
- seanmx, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6you know its gone too far when Batman's suit has nipples.
- solid12345, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3It WAS Clooney's fault too, he read the script, a big name actor can lead legitimacy to a project. I find it hypocritical how he weaseled out and apologized for the movie as if he was unaware iy was going to turn out crap.
For god sake the first page in the script had Batman surfing through the air after escaping a space rocket.
As for Aaahnuld, well he will play any hammy character for money.
- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Man bat sucks ass. Clayface would be good *if* they pulled off the CG better than sandman in Spiderman 3.
- BSeffrood, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Clayface would be awesome, as well as killer croc, but they don't fit into this Batman universe. Plus I think that Twoface is just getting set up in this movie, so we might have him to look forward to in the next.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -1/+12I don't want any supernatural elements in this franchise.
- starsarebent, on 07/01/2008, -13/+1Jesus. Don't get me wrong, I love the Batman series, and Christian Bale, blah blah..... but there's only so much you can do. Like James Bond. Great movies... too many.... all the same.
EDIT: Also, if they DO make a third (or 7th, right?), Christian Bale should do it.- scififan9009, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4For the first time in ANY comic book's history, a single director has captured on film the essence of the character exactly as he is in the comics. That being said, Dolan and Bale can make a dozen Batman films and I'll see every damn one of em two dozen times each.
- starsarebent, on 07/01/2008, -4/+1Sweet. Good to know. Have fun spending your money 288 times on the same movie concept.
Also, the original Batman was not the same as the Batman today. That is to say; a single director actually captured a re-take on a comic book. - solid12345, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1"for the first time in ANY comic book's history..."
Come on, the first? I found X-Men to be pretty close in the first film minus Rogue's character, Plus Batman has had many different incarnations, there is no one true vision accept how he was written by Bob Kane himself.
- starsarebent, on 07/01/2008, -4/+1Sweet. Good to know. Have fun spending your money 288 times on the same movie concept.

There's only so much you can do... before the concept gets old and stale. They should quit while they're ahead.

Batman
Batman Forever
Batman Returns
Batman & Robin
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Six, cowboy. Jus' sayin. Something different in the theater is always nice. - mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3Begins and TDK stand apart from the others. You said "Great movies... too many.... all the same." when those two clearly aren't the same as the other 4.
- starsarebent, on 07/01/2008, -6/+0lol... it's the same character/ same movie! Whatever... You remind me of a Trekkie (sp?). No matter the validity of a point, you never change your view.
it's like Star Trek or Star Wars... Sure... great concepts... Lucas should have stopped at ROTJ, and after the original series, Roddenberry should have sold the Star Trek rights to a blind dying cancer patient with herpes. - Peck3277, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2@starsarebentstarsarebent: every time I digg you down and move on I find another one of your idotic statements.
- scififan9009, on 07/02/2008, -2/+2@Peck3277 I know right? starsarebentstarsarebent if you don't like the films no one's going to make you watch. And you can't compare the Burton films to the Nolan films. In the first Burton film Batman is shot by a bad guy who gets close enough to him to try to take his mask off, only to wake up in the nick of time to beat up the bad guy. I was like "WHAT?!?!" Batman would have used jujitsu and broken the guy's arm in 11 places before he ever had a chance to pull the gun. That was early on in the film, and I knew then that Burton had no concept of who Batman the character is.
- starsarebent, on 07/01/2008, -5/+02?? What about:
- thatsmyaibo, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Sometimes a trilogy works. Star Wars (original) and LOTR completed an epic storyline and from reviews, The Dark Knight takes off right after the last one and is supposed to be better tha Batman Begins. I'm all for this.

Oh and possibly Clive Owen. - yohnstoppable, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I'd like Kristen Bell on my loins
- matthewf01, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Yep....anyone else? Gay for Christian Bale?
- neferiousrich, on 07/02/2008, -1/+33flaky crust is what i lust
- neferiousrich, on 07/02/2008, -1/+4"Personally we're hoping that he takes the lead in a new clutch of dark, emotionally-intense Ernest movies. You know, we really want to know what profound psychological childhood trauma Ernest went through before the events of Ernest Goes To Camp took place, and Christian Bale's the only man for the job in our opinion."
Dugg - djdingo, on 07/02/2008, -29/+45"Christian Bale wants to do a third Batman movie"
...and so does Heath Ledger.
Uh oh, too soon?- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5zing!
- swimmingbird67, on 07/02/2008, -3/+40not that it's too soon, but it really just wasn't funny.
- SSCrow, on 07/02/2008, -2/+13Why so Serious?
- Xihix, on 07/02/2008, -1/+9I mean, I could have accepted it if it was actually funny. I've seen some clever ones before, but this just sucked. Sorry.
- aschepis, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3anyone else think that a really dark take on the "Knightfall" story arc would make a good film? Bane was a great villian in that he devised a scheme to wear Batman down by making him stop all the other nutjobs that he sprung from Arkham Asylum before he stepped in and "broke" the Batman. I wasn't as keen on the psychotic sidekick who took over, but the story up until then was phenomenal.
- SilverBlade2k, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I think that would be a good Batman movie. I also love the Azbat Batman metallic suit...
- lazyfisherman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2YES. I loved that story arc. Batman worn out. Bane.. as a terrifying and intelligent enemy unlike anything Batman had ever faced before. Nolan could do a VERY interesting job with Bane. He appeared in one of the ***** Batman sequels as some senseless steroid-crazed musclehead but he really was a great match for Bruce on an intellectual level. Physically and mentally, Bane could overcome Batman. Well, for a while anyway...
A lot of history would have had to have passed before Nolan, Bale etc. could do the Knightfall story arc justice but who knows, maybe it will be done someday.- ansatsu29, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1yeah...the previous film did a disgusting portrayal of Bane like a dumb muscleman who is on steroid juice...he's actually decent in the comics..hope some director will get the proper treatment for that character..
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Knightfall is sweet, but I have a hard time not thinking of him in B&R. But if anyone could do it, it'd be Nolan.
- SnuKs, on 07/02/2008, -0/+7Nolan plays a bigger role for reviving this franchise. Yea you have Bale, but plug him in those Joel Schumacher movies and it still tanks.
- lazyfisherman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Quite true.
- poontangpirate, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4New Dark Knight Poster:

- ofenza, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6I wish he had done Transformers too (Nolan, I mean.)
- Theisos, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Then we could have had Bay moved to Superman Returns.
- SilverBlade2k, on 07/02/2008, -2/+5I'd love to see a 3rd Batman movie with Christian Bale.
- AHolmes360, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Not digging until I see the second one in its entirety
- Peck3277, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1So your going to wait till july 18th and then come back and digg it?
- MavRevMatt, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I read something a while back where Gary Oldman said that Nolan would return for a third as well, and mentioned the Riddler as a possible villian along with Catwoman but that Robin wouldn't appear for a long time.
- BSeffrood, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Hopefully Robin never ever appears. He is a character that will never translate well into film
- treyevans, on 07/02/2008, -7/+2what in the ***** is the bat-nipple
- JBravada, on 07/02/2008, -3/+3Buried for using "keen" twice in the description description.
- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2too much keen and not enough peachy
- rolosworld, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3I will try to review every batman movie and even probably the future ones,
A new crazy villain sets up a plan to f*ck up the city at night and batman with it but batman ruins it saving the city and putting a stop to the crazy villain before the sun comes out. Also, Some kind of semi romance between batman and a chic occur, the relation eventually fails just before batman saving the night. - masterbasil, on 07/02/2008, -7/+2After personally working with Christopher Nolan on the Prestige it's easy to see how he and his brother are complete genius's add Christian Bale to the mix and yummy you've got margatrita's for days. Heath Ledger is a madman of course and we here at HoT 97 kWEED are smokin' da blunts in dedication to you. Congrats on the Fantastic work This is the Master Basil Blazin Blazesil Blaze on HoT LIVE 97 kWEED Hey YOU!don't put that joint out!
- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Hey guys, I'm going to sound like an intelligent person, and then revert into a retard!
- codered1322, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Did you refill the soap dispensers in the onset portapotties?
- OliversDigg, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1yes!
- gcnaddict, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2http://media.whysoserious.com/half.mov
- Gimjee, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1That would be awesome, but it won't be the same with whoever is going to be the Joker now. This movie is going to be a classic and it's thanks to Bale and Ledger.
- HorisBurke, on 07/02/2008, -4/+1This article touches on who could fill in as the Joker now that Heath has passed http://faketyfake.com/story.php?id=9
- collegekidd, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1They should have started making it already.
- ultraJesus, on 07/02/2008, -5/+3Translation: Christian Bale wants more money.
- Xihix, on 07/02/2008, -0/+11Even if this is true, he ***** deserves it. I've seen ever Bale movie, and I seriously think he is one of the most talented, if not the most, actor in the film industry.
- ElAmo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6He deserves it because he's so badass.
- GerudoX, on 07/02/2008, -0/+8If he was an actor for money, you wouldn't see him in fantastic movies such as The Prestige, The Machinist and American Psycho. Neither of which made him much money. He does these movies because they are well written and directed.
- spookycheddar, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2so would michael keaton
- volacide, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1The kind of actors that just want more money don't starve themselves to near death just for a role.
- Xihix, on 07/02/2008, -0/+11Even if this is true, he ***** deserves it. I've seen ever Bale movie, and I seriously think he is one of the most talented, if not the most, actor in the film industry.
- mythailove, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1i should go see
- MercedRocks, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I hope he makes three or four.......as many as he wants until they suck, which may not be for a while,.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+9There won't be a Joker. I really hate it when people treat recasting like it is nothing. Katie Holmes may be unimportant, but even the IDEA of artificially replacing Ledger is a severe sign of ignorance. What that uber man went through to play this role is almost certainly tied directly to his death, and you should beat yourself endlessly if you ever even considered it.
Personally, while I don't pretend to assume the Joker had NO part in the third movie (the only rumor ever released was by Goyer, who said it would be Joker's trial, but also where Dent gets scarred, hence obsolete) I know that if they can make an entire movie with Two Face coming off as eerie as he does in that bar scene... It could at the very least equal this one.
Seriously, I'd pay for a whole movie of Two Face sneaking up behind criminals and scaring the crap out of them. I'm sure they could get an easy marketing deal with Burger King if they go that direction.- lazyfisherman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4I can't imagine that anyone is going to want to (or be able to) play the Joker vs. the Bale Batman in any future movies. This Joker ends with Heath.
- BSeffrood, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Agreed
- lazyfisherman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4I can't imagine that anyone is going to want to (or be able to) play the Joker vs. the Bale Batman in any future movies. This Joker ends with Heath.
- doubelthumbfist, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1terribly written article
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4I can't imagine the Joker being in the third film. They can just say he's currently in Arkham.
I really want to see Talia.- Willtheway, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Yes Talia. And maybe Ras Ah Guhl comes back too and sort of plays full circle from Begins.
- orph3us, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1The thing in the comics and cartoons was that Ras had lazarus pits to rejuvenate himself, maybe they could write that in if its not too cheesy. This page has a good list of villains http://www.tvrage.com/Batman_TAS/character_guide/? ...
- Willtheway, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Yes Talia. And maybe Ras Ah Guhl comes back too and sort of plays full circle from Begins.
- supersteve, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2hell yes. The new one is not even out and I want to see the third badly
- nobody98, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1why wouldn't he... kachiiingggg
- OGTK423, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3That article was written by a total dick.
- auricomnet, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3I want him to do a REAL American Psycho 2
- innovaciones, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Yeah, the second part with that girl just sucks!
- JoshVanDanger, on 07/02/2008, -2/+2"It's because Batman law quite clearly states that the third Batman movie in any series is the point where the Bat-nipple comes into play." Batman movie in any series? What is he talking about? There has only been one series with "Bat-nipples."
- boozedrinker, on 07/02/2008, -8/+3***** that...I want Michael Keaton back!!!
- MetalGear7, on 07/02/2008, -3/+1I just don't understand all the Robin Hate
