Disney's WALL-E wows box office
reuters.com — "WALL-E," bolstered by near-unanimous critical praise, sold an estimated $62.5 million of tickets in its first three days, said Pixar's Walt Disney Co parent.

The concept of a "human" robot is similar, but Short Circuit was basically only about that where WALL-E was so much more.

- life38, on 06/30/2008, -15/+5It is fun for all ages. For once it is Disney at its best.
- beauTL, on 06/30/2008, -0/+44*Pixar at it's best.
(I know it's owned by Disney but the Pixar guys are the ones that do all the work.)- whatwhatwhoa, on 06/30/2008, -5/+2its not owned by Disney. Basically, Pixar is the author, and Disney is the publisher.
- OSXpert, on 06/30/2008, -0/+11No, beauTL is right. Disney bought Pixar from Steve Jobs, and now steve is on their board of directors.
- iKomplex, on 06/30/2008, -6/+2I think you're telling untruths there. Well, sorry to object, I know you're entitled to your opinions, however, this is not Pixar at it's best. I've seen it, and though it was OK (Not great), I would not go as far as you did to mislead others into suggesting that this is anything that is, or near, Pixar's best.
Fix: Pixar's best, IMHO and from what I've already seen: (1)Toy Story, (2)The Incredibles, (3)Ratatouille, (4)Wall-E
- stizz, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15Disney by default. This is all Pixar, Disney just gets to have their name on there.
- lacronicus, on 06/30/2008, -7/+1Is it? Disney recently made the switch to 3d full-time, so I have to wonder if Pixar is really it's own entity now. I don't keep up on these things, so maybe I'm wrong, but it would seem Disney is effectively just one big Pixar.
- BlaqReaper, on 06/30/2008, -1/+2Disney didn't switch full-time to 3D. The Princess and the Frog is coming out in 2009 and it's supposed to be an animated musical film. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Princess_and_the_ ...
Personally I kinda of miss the old animated films like Lion King and Aladdin. Although I have to admit PIxar is amazing with its successful movie, I just never connected to the CGI films as much (perhaps iIm just getting old) as the classic Disney movies. - Elranzer, on 06/30/2008, -0/+10It's tough to lump WALL-E with the same company that's going to bring us Beverly Hills Chihuahua soon.
- beauTL, on 06/30/2008, -0/+44*Pixar at it's best.

I saw it and felt it was a decent flick. I'm not in love with it, but reading all this anti-cars nonsense, it's clearly beginning to seem like it's trendy and you're cool if you bash Cars. Lame. - DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2I'm pretty ***** elitist, but I didn't know there was a war on Cars. Furthermore, I didn't know it was trendy to hate Cars. And finally, I liked Cars.
Seriously, calm down. You shouldn't get that worked up about a kids movie. You look silly. - Ramble, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2I didn't know kids films had 'adult' fanboys.

- Vikaas, on 06/30/2008, -0/+20They own RottenTomatoes too. Top movie is Toy Story 2, with like 120 perfect ratings. And Wall-E has a 97%.

- MagMan68Classic, on 06/30/2008, -1/+19The cake was a carrot
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+14The carrot is a lie.
Oh and when did you see the Portal movie? You can't blame them for borrowing an awesome concept like that and making a short out of it. - DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4I'd say it was more a Buggs Bunny tribute. But it still rocked pretty hard.
- DCstewieG, on 06/30/2008, -0/+12Only if Portal was a rip-off of the doors in Monsters, Inc.

- dbacker, on 07/01/2008, -1/+1I can't remember parts of the short because I had my fingers in my ears and my eyes closed. I am one of those people that can (almost) die laughing, and this short almost did me in :-)
Tears in my eyes...last time I laughed that hard was during, come to think of it, "For the birds" another Pixar short. Great job guys. Oh, and WALL-E is a MUST-C!

- B1663r, on 06/30/2008, -2/+9Even worse they resurrected Wall-e after they killed him, just so they could have the happy disney ending. It would have been more dramatic if they left him dead.
But yeah, the movie would have been wayyyy to dark if they had perma-killed Wall-e at the end.- Dalrek, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15I'm 21, and I would have been upset if Wall-E was actually dead at the end. I was so happy when he came back.
- DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I hate you and your spoilers.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3You have to admit that that was the best near-death scene you've ever seen. They stretched it out so long and every time you think this is what will bring him back but it wasn't.
For me, it wasn't that he was going to die, it was that he was going to be erased and go on as a vegetable, going through the motions of life but with out that spark of life that made him special. It was the only near-death scene where I was really drawn in, really disappointed when he wasn't brought back after each attempt and really happy when he finally did come back.
Yeah, I'm 21 too and this is the first movie in a decade that I actually cried a little. This thing needs to win an Oscar, and not the bs animation one. - directrix13, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Stay off the X.
- sweeneyowns, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2i got a little teared up too... although i hate admitting it. i mean it would be like if r2d2 got erased after the end of eisode 3 and had no knowledge of the past events.

Just shows you that a lot of people love pixar. Still need to get out to see this one, looked like a good date movie, little bit of funnee, little bit of robot hero action, little bit of robot on robot making out. Gets the women all riled up inside, at least thats what the internetz told meh , internetz doesnt lie ...right?...right?!
- ripple123, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4while it may well be a mere branch in the sand against the tide, ill try anyway. Shut up you idiot.

- ripple123, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4while it may well be a mere branch in the sand against the tide, ill try anyway. Shut up you idiot.
- JHaze, on 06/30/2008, -0/+212Saw it yesterday and I have to say, this is the best Disney/Pixar film yet. There is very little dialog (only really noises) from WALLE and EVE, but the animators are able to tell a really beautiful story with the art of animation. I say it's a must see, and I put in above both Ratatouille and Finding Nemo in my book.
- Ajajadude, on 06/30/2008, -0/+44That seemed to be the best part of the movie. The fact that the film is centered on two robots who don't say more than a couple of words each and the audience still gets it is pretty cool.
- JHaze, on 06/30/2008, -0/+28I agree. It made total sense, and not at one point in the film did I go.. "oh man, this is lame, I really wish they could just talk."
- Goblin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3That is what annoyed me about the AvP movie. It would have been totally awesome if they had just featured Aliens and Predators beating seven shades of hell out of each other for two hours. Of course, that wouldn't have been able to hold the interest of anyone except the fanboys, so they had to introduce the human element to it instead of having the balls to make a two hour film with no dialogue.
- sunyata76, on 06/30/2008, -2/+23I was expecting LESS dialogue, actually. The disturbing rotund humans gabbered on way too much, compared to my expectations that this was mostly a "silent film" from the way the critics phrased it, near universally.
I think there was about an hour's worth of script in there, all told.
Nonetheless, utterly phenomenal movie! I'm an unabashed Wall-E fan. :) - vptel, on 06/30/2008, -3/+11i thought Ratatouille was really underrated, it could have been advertised better
- Shadowfox99, on 06/30/2008, -7/+6I loved WALLE.....but it will never beat Toy Story in my book
- Harabeck, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5I found the way Eve said "Directive" to be very sexy somehow...
- Bilabrin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+13You are a robosexual!

(My daughter and I are literally watching that episode right now)
- Ajajadude, on 06/30/2008, -0/+44That seemed to be the best part of the movie. The fact that the film is centered on two robots who don't say more than a couple of words each and the audience still gets it is pretty cool.
- gcnaddict, on 06/30/2008, -5/+119PROTIP: Watch with person of opposite sex, preferably not related and single (or with you already).
- Jeremyz0r, on 06/30/2008, -7/+37With if I'm gay and they're of the same sex.. are you telling me I'll have a bad experience?
- NomortaL1, on 06/30/2008, -5/+37yes
- Myonosken, on 06/30/2008, -2/+75Yes, Wall-E is constant homophobia. Racism too. In one scene they even set up a concentration camp together.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+35Oh God, gcnaddict couldn't be more right. There are a LOT of "aww" moments that are sure to get any girl to want to cuddle up with you.
- tcpip4lyfe, on 06/30/2008, -2/+55Thanks for that. Me and my buddy we're going to get stoned and watch it. Not anymore.
- Lockhart, on 06/30/2008, -0/+16Go ahead with it, you two might get an 'enlightenment' and decide then decide to cuddle up with each other.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5Not that there's anything wrong with that...
- merrymaker, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1well done, lol
- eyefork2, on 06/30/2008, -22/+2Unless you like chicks that don't like gay *****
- RaisingSpirits, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6I got guilted into going to see it with my parents and sister... and that's exactly what I thought... Missed opportunity! For that reason alone I probably didn't give it a fair shake as it is an impressively animated and well written movie! So unfortunately I came out somewhat annoyed that I wasn't able to capitalize on it's awww value...
- DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Luckily for you, this movie will still be in theaters in September. Now that you know what to expect, you have plenty of time to find that girl/guy/whatever and capitalize on the cuddliness.
- ensta2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+7I had an amazing time with my girl watching this video... A wonderful romantic movie to share
- socalslaker, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2I have to agree WALL-E was a great movie to go with a date to. But i recommended sit in the far back so you can't bother anyone with the cuddling.

- Belldanime, on 06/30/2008, -0/+56What I love about this movie is that it was mostly driven by pantomime, there was very little dialogue throughout the whole thing. And they STILL managed to pull it off. Is there something the Pixar people can't do? It was a superb movie. I can't wait for Toy Story 3, I know that sequels tend to not do good, but Pixar has never disappointed us. I have high hopes.
- GarrettB, on 06/30/2008, -12/+2Holy ***** my head is going to explode.

- infectbda, on 06/30/2008, -1/+34I saw it twice this weekend, and it really does deserve the praise and the money. It's for sure Pixar's best film to date, and I think it cements Andrew Stanton, and not Brad Bird as Pixar's creative tour de force.
- meamog, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5I don't know - Brad Bird has a different style. I usually like Bird's stuff more.
What's REALLY amazing is that Pixar has more than a few visionary moviemakers.

Let me tell you something: I am going to urinate on the director of that movie.- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+16What I want to know is why do all these main characters suddenly do a music video to some ***** song? Madagascar 2, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Shrek 3 (I'm pretty sure Shrek 3 did something like that), etc. Does your movie inhale so much ***** that you have to turn the trailer into a (terrible) music video? It really lacks that much plot? You draw in venue by showing people music videos? Ugh. Who are the mouth-breathers that go see these things?
- notadiggtard, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8That chihuahua was ***** delicious.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8I just kicked a chihuahua for that *****.
- iamanalog, on 06/30/2008, -2/+28So that's how the movie industry dies...
- JHaze, on 06/30/2008, -1/+81Walt Disney would be spinning in his grave if he wasn't frozen in place.
- billmuel, on 06/30/2008, -1/+3interesting ... the first thing i said when i saw this chihuahua trailer was . " Disney would be lynching these people "
- veganvelma, on 06/30/2008, -0/+51Everyone in the theater I saw it in was confused after that trailer aired. I heard many people say, "What the *****?"
- Lucifer7, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15Someone in our theater fell and dislocated his knee about 5 minutes before the movie began. Thirty minutes later we got to see the movie in a different theater, but they skipped the previews. Now I'm really glad they did that.
- BenKenobi88, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9They halted the movie because someone fell? You'd think they could just...take him out of the theater...
- nielkie, on 06/30/2008, -0/+28The worst part is that people on Youtube actually liked it.
- punkcat, on 06/30/2008, -0/+40thank god that video took some time to load and i was able to read the title in time.
would have preferred a rick roll. - HumanRecalled, on 06/30/2008, -6/+10Dear LORD !@
Release Date: September 26, 2008
Better pick the right religion people ...the End of Times will surely be upon us !! - joemofo214, on 06/30/2008, -1/+14Gone are the days of good original movies from disney (lion king)
- RatGuy5, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6Right. Totally and completely original.
"You must avenge my death Kimba! Er... I mean Simba."
Google Kimba the White Lion. - PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3And the Lion King was Disney's version of Hamlet. All of Disney's animated films are fairy tales and classic stories.
That said, they're doing a hand-drawn one soon, the Frog Princess. Wouldn't expect much though, since we're not 6 any more. - t.toe, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Technically, every Pixar movie has been a Disney movie. That's even more true now, though, considering Pixar is wholly owned by Disney.
- HumanRecalled, on 07/01/2008, -0/+0Original hahah a Lion King as stolen and copied from Kimba the Lion !
http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm
- RatGuy5, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6Right. Totally and completely original.
- paulvq, on 06/30/2008, -3/+35Am I the only one who thinks that chihuahuas are the ugliest dogs ever?
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Chinese Crested owns chihuahuas in the ugly department.
- paulvq, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Touche man. Well played.
- Manguskahn, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Chihuahuas aren't actually dogs. They are just mutated rats with bigger teeth. You can tell because of some of their design flaws, like how they shake even when just standing in place.
- mabba18, on 06/30/2008, -0/+7I didn't even need to click the link to know what it was. Luckily, I stepped out on the previews during Prince Caspian, and I was told what I had missed. I was ready for it this time, eyes closed, fingers in ears.
Disney, why would you make such a horrible, stupid, racist movie? Why would you put the trailer for such crap in front of such a wonderful film?
I pity any children who's parents take them to that film.- freqk, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1racist?
- michaelrsa, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0mabba, don't you mean you fees sorry for any parent who's child made them take them? Because I can't imagine any parent actually wanting to see that *****, normally it's the little girl who needs a tiny cute animal of some sort jumping in their face who demands to be taken to that.
- mabba18, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2You're right they'll demand to see it, because they are easily sucked in with marketing crap, but a parent with any backbone at all would keep their child away from such dreck. I pity the child whose parents are not able to make smart choices for their children.
Racist? I can completely imagine this film will contain every know Latino stereotype and joke that is remotely suitable for children.. Maybe they think they can get away with it by throwing in references to real Latin-American history, but it will still contain a good amount of offensive material I'm sure.
Know, lets stop thinking about this horror, and get back to Wall-E
- JFallon126, on 06/30/2008, -0/+13Oh God I know...I saw this before the Indy movie. I wanted to claw my eyes out and weep bloody tears for humanity.
- jbmcb, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4Hopefully, with Lasseter at the helm of all of Disney's theatrical animated films and cutting out all the dreck, the live-action division will be shamed into making something halfway decent.
- Gella321, on 06/30/2008, -2/+3When did Jimmy Fallon start writing for Disney?
- RobotLeAwesome, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2Why do people pay Jimmy Fallon to do anything other than stop doing things.
- loneBoat, on 06/30/2008, -1/+29Worse than a Rick Roll - that was low man...
- DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -0/+14I've had to sit through that cinematic abortion three times: Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, and now Wall-E. Someone deserves to be shot.
- Manguskahn, on 06/30/2008, -1/+5My rottweiler (RIP, Sabre) would have mopped the floor with every one of them. At the same time. "Now we are ingrained with some of the most powerful people in the world." Are you saying Paris Hilton is one of the most powerful people in the world? A slight breeze would bring her to her knees.
- RudeTurnip, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4I hear a gram of coke has the same effect on her.
- Goblin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4Or getting a dick out in front of her.
- MicahT0078, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9Agreed. I was ready to choke the nearest child who laughed at that damn trailer.
- mcprogrammer, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I left as soon as that started playing.
- h0zae, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3the best part was the free made-in-china petroleum-based watches, they gave out to the kids.
- ensta2, on 06/30/2008, -9/+2If this movie trailer doesn't tickle your funny bone then get yourself to the doctor and get yourself checked out! This kills me every time especially when you see the Chihuahua for the first time! I am looking forward to this movie
- josereyes0, on 06/30/2008, -0/+12People like you remind me that the world is a ***** up place.
- asskicker32, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8you are whats wrong with this world.
- rainbowjinjo, on 06/30/2008, -5/+1Dugg up for sarcasm?
- DreKor, on 06/30/2008, -1/+2The Taco Bell dog wasn't funny 10 years ago. This isn't funny now. Digg might not be for you, try PerezHilton instead.
- freqk, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5Please be trolling.

(drowned in artillery fire) - upsilonh24, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5I work in a cinema and I have that ***** poster in my ***** face all the ***** time. Disgusting.
- ZephyrNinety, on 06/30/2008, -1/+2*****.
- travisty, on 06/30/2008, -1/+5Oh I know... I saw Wall-E twice this weekend and was horrified by that trailer. The second time I went my friends and I tried to bribe the theater to cut it. Didn't work and a 6 year old sitting next to me sung along much to me annoyance.
- MendozaLine, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0I almost would have rather been rick rolled
- mabba18, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1How much time would you spend in jail for punching a 6 year old?
Doesn't matter, it'd be worth it.
- ophello, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1DIE
- arsonata, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5Putting this Disney trailer before such a great film from Pixar really exemplified the fact that Disney is nothing without Pixar's talent. It would have been interesting to see what would become of Disney if Pixar had split when they had the chance.
- BigPapi, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I saw the giant cardboard display next to the ticket booth and was just horrified at the whole concept... and then I got to see the trailer.
- neferiousrich, on 06/30/2008, -0/+46Pixar simply makes great movies.
- jo21, on 06/30/2008, -14/+2not really... in animations they are below square enix.
but wall-e was great because the story wasn't so oversaturated in sugar.
if you know what i mean- punkcat, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3hope you aren't serious comparing pixar to marionette motion capture.
- altinnovation, on 06/30/2008, -1/+5He never said anything about it being the best, but Pixar simply IS great. It depends on your personal taste though, as I for example dislike the FF franchise.
- RonBurgundy76, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4Square's CGI is mediocre compared to Pixar's... hell even Blizzard does CGI better than Square.
- pooroldluser, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3While I enjoy Square Enix games, at least Pixar has a firm grasp on complicated ideas like "gravity" and "physics".
- jo21, on 06/30/2008, -14/+2not really... in animations they are below square enix.
- Digitalicious, on 06/30/2008, -2/+63I'll admit it... I cried.
- jsaya, on 06/30/2008, -0/+34I didn't, but I got that feeling... like I wanted to... ;(
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+44I'm not crying, it's just raining on my face.
- kyletehgreat, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9I've just been cutting onions

...for one - FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8Chocolate raaaaaain!
- kyletehgreat, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9I've just been cutting onions
- ULJarad, on 06/30/2008, -0/+12Stop it! You'll make me cry again...
- Tomchei, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15at the part where they had their first dance in space or the part where EVE saw what Wall-E did for her when she was shut down?
- gavin422, on 06/30/2008, -0/+18...both. Now here's my Man License. I believe I have to give it back.
- Jektal, on 06/30/2008, -0/+7Or the Wall-E shell-shock bit back on Earth?
- michaelrsa, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2I had watery eyes (which even I admit is still crying) during when Eve found out what Wall-E did when she was shut down and when he broke and then was reset to whatever that auto mode was when Eve rebuilt him.
- cwmather, on 06/30/2008, -0/+31Pussy. And by pussy I mean me too.
- asskicker32, on 06/30/2008, -8/+2Yeah, I wept slightly when Eve saw the security footage, then bawled like my daughter when WALL-E lost his memory.
- jaydoj, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3damnit, thanks for that.
- vMsam, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3LOL DO YOU WANT TO DIE?
- Ductapemaster, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4***** you, sir
- Jones82, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1I'm not crying, I've got something in both my eyes
- zoomair766, on 06/30/2008, -4/+25I haven't seen a Pixar film that's disappointed. They do animation and they do it well.
- gfxlonghorn, on 06/30/2008, -0/+35Anybody can do animation well now... They do story telling, and they do that well.
- Pusod, on 06/30/2008, -37/+5Damn that movie BLOWS!

- NickMilne, on 06/30/2008, -0/+16No kidding. I'm not even going to download it! They can have another ~$20 from me at some later date and I'll be totally cool with it.
Props earned, Andrew Stanton and Pixar, props earned- aladrin, on 06/30/2008, -2/+8$20? I'll be getting the BluRay... It'll be more like $40.

=P- Halsfield, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0if thats all thats wrong with the movie it should be great.
- tolbs, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3(Spoilers, but if you got this far in the thread you'd probably would have guessed that by now)
Oh man, Fred Willard was such an awesome touch, I loved it and wanted more of it. The Captain was pretty much the only Human Character other then (though briefly) the two humans WALL-E meets but he was well developed and voiced (Jeff Garlin). - notadiggtard, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1I like all the small touches, like where to put the spork, and the Mac boot sound when his battery hits full charge-Boonnnngggg.....
- Talula79, on 06/30/2008, -4/+38That was definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. I too had to wipe away a few tears at the end. Great love story and amazing way to get an environmental message to the masses. Absolutely superb!
- tolbs, on 06/30/2008, -0/+24I felt it the environmental aspect was there just to serve as a plot device, they didn't push it down your throat at all and I appreciated that it was really divisive in any way.
- Scheissen, on 06/30/2008, -11/+6Screw the environment and human story. It was about two robots. God, you can't watch a simple romantic love story without you trying to push your agenda. Thankfully Pixar didn't think the same as you.
- ilves7, on 07/01/2008, -0/+1I actually read an interview where they said the environmental thing wasn't at all their message, was just used to deliver the plot. So if you're assuming they were trying to push pro-environmental ideas they really weren't, it was just a side product
- YellowStar, on 06/30/2008, -1/+21Wow ! An amazing triumph for Disney and Pixar. Definitely a classic. And it's got a decent sci-fi story in its own right, too. Not often is there a movie that has everything: action, romance, comedy and mystery in perfect amounts. Considering the main characters are not even supposed to be human, this deserves some kind of Oscar recognition.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -1/+16Disney? All they did was distribute it. This is all Pixar.
- skribble, on 06/30/2008, -4/+7Disney bought Pixar
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3skribble:
Pixar is still it's own separate entity from Disney. That was part of the deal. And even then, Disney still did jack ***** except distribute it. How about coming with some ammo to a gunfight next time?
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -1/+16Disney? All they did was distribute it. This is all Pixar.
- lookitsrobss, on 06/30/2008, -2/+36Wall-E WAS AMAZING.
- AndrewDB, on 06/30/2008, -1/+19Pixar could make a killing by releasing Lego sets and robots that do all the things that Wall-E does in the movie.
It's a wonderful movie. - stizz, on 06/30/2008, -14/+2Loved:
wall-e Apple chime reboot
keyboard full of ones and zeroes
lighting and animation
Hated;
Photo realistic past humans (Fred Willard)
Weak character development of future humans (Ratzenberger) - OSXpert, on 06/30/2008, -0/+125The short that is shown before the WALL-E is basically "Portal: The Cartoon"
But with hats instead of portals.- xieodeluxed, on 06/30/2008, -0/+11 haha glad to see someone else was thinking the same thing. i turned to my girlfriend to tell her alll about it, but thankfully i kept my mouth shut
- ReadVonnegut, on 06/30/2008, -1/+7You mean you turned to your girlfriend to tell her all about it, but the you decided you wanted to keep your girlfriend. :)
- biggerapple3am, on 06/30/2008, -1/+13You turned to your girlfriend to tell her all about it, but realized you have no girlfriend, and sadly joined your hands together.
- TyrantJoe, on 06/30/2008, -4/+6Not to mention that one robot on the computer outside of the bridge was basically GLaDOS, and EVE is basically a turret.
- fisherdr, on 06/30/2008, -1/+2Not sure why you're getting dug down, I totally missed the whole portal reference but looking back it definitely all fits.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6You've never seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, have you?
- ophello, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1yeah basically.
- morninglorii, on 06/30/2008, -0/+18I was totally watching it and thinking "some geek at Pixar was playing Portal when he thought of this."
- FryedGuy, on 06/30/2008, -2/+2Pixar came up with Toy Story, Monsters Inc, WALL-E, Finding Nemo and one other of their films in a brainstorming session when they first started their company. I doubt they made this film as an omage to Portal, it's just a coincidence that it's a similar concept. I think the people at Pixar came up with it on their own and Portal had nothing to do with it.
- Wormwood, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5He was referring to the short, not the main feature
- xieodeluxed, on 06/30/2008, -0/+11 haha glad to see someone else was thinking the same thing. i turned to my girlfriend to tell her alll about it, but thankfully i kept my mouth shut
- kinseyincanada, on 06/30/2008, -2/+9i actually just got back from this movie, and it really is just brilliant, it tells a story threw emotion, and humour and it works brilliantly, by far the best film of the year so far.
- gcnaddict, on 06/30/2008, -2/+22lol, threw.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/30/2008, -1/+3He's going to have roughly an extra month of life to live by shortening words like that! And I will have roughly 2 less years to live by writing comments like this.

http://www.air-trekkers.com/main/index.php?main_pa ... - Syphon8, on 06/30/2008, -12/+5Why are people going to see it? I haven't learned anything from the few commercials I've seen.
Oh well, guess I'll have to trust word of mouth.- sunyata76, on 06/30/2008, -2/+7Yeah, really word of mouth is what sold this film to me.
- NickMilne, on 06/30/2008, -1/+9Before the reviews started coming in I was actually planning to avoid it based on the trailers, which focused too much on cutesyness and zany robot-based comedy for my liking.
Words cannot express how glad I am that I ignored that first feeling. If you enjoy it even half as much as I did you'll still thank everyone who told you to see it. It's wonderful. - aladrin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5I thought the trailers (especially the first one, where they talk about how they got the idea and when) were enticing enough to watch it. I will agree that if I'd not seen the first trailer, I'd probably have been like 'Huh? Another kid flick. -yawn-' though.
Unlike most movies, though, they didn't put all the best parts in the trailers.
- tolbs, on 06/30/2008, -0/+36This movie will finally give me a reason to buy a Blu-Ray player, truly amazing visuals and well executed story.
- sunyata76, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Oh hell yes! This'll definitely be Blu-Ray worthy. I just wish I could find it on IMAX in SF.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -3/+5Was I the only one who thought some of the CGI looked crazy real?
- aladrin, on 06/30/2008, -4/+9Uh, yeah. Sorry guy. It was amazingly done, but definitely not realistic at any point.
- sgangwisch, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1There were a couple of live action scenes in the movie. Maybe those are what you are thinking of?
But incredible Movie and visuals.
- biggerapple3am, on 06/30/2008, -1/+0WALL-E and Ratatouille would justify blu-ray if it were the only two movies you could get.
- lotu, on 06/30/2008, -6/+1Why buy a blu-ray and when you can just download the movie for free.
- pooroldluser, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Umm, because I would love Pixar to have their well-deserved money so they keep making movies like this?
I just fed the troll. I feel so dirty.
- pooroldluser, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Umm, because I would love Pixar to have their well-deserved money so they keep making movies like this?
- gfxlonghorn, on 06/30/2008, -16/+1How the hell did it make it to #9 on IMDB top 250.. I must find out the root of this blasphemy. There are at least 20 films that come to mind immediately that it can't be better than. Oh well, I guess this warrants a look, but if this isn't that good, I will have the top 1000's heads!
- tinkertoy, on 06/30/2008, -1/+25Comedy, drama, action, love story, social messages wrapped with incredible animation. Pixar, you've made Walt smile.
- tolbs, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9and that's quite a feat, making a froze head smile that is :P
- Halsfield, on 06/30/2008, -8/+2i don't think they should be trying to impress an anti-semite. How about, you've made the world's children and young at heart smile?
- Mistaxe, on 06/30/2008, -1/+4Well, they didn't kill off any Jews, so I highly doubt that.
- ronaldmonster, on 06/30/2008, -13/+1Too bad it didn't wow too much else.
- gfxlonghorn, on 06/30/2008, -2/+10Oh and what the hell is up with this week. I don't even remember the last time 5 good films were the top 5 films in the country at one time. Wall-e, Kung Fu Panda, Get Smart, Wanted, and Incredible Hulk... probably the last time that will happen for a while.
- tonich03, on 06/30/2008, -6/+1Hulk was horrible IMO, Ang Lee's was a masterpiece and they ruined it just for box office...well it's what always happens.
- ShogunWarPig, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2bizarro?
- dackerman, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9Ang Lee's movie was a total failure. Get over yourself.
- eyefork2, on 06/30/2008, -2/+3Kung Fu Panda? Really?
- FryedGuy, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5And Wanted was awesome, except for the whole "Loom of Fate" *****. I wish they had just had some inner council that decided it and sent it out to the different sects, and each one was it's own independent group. I still can't get past them taking orders from a ***** sweater.
- Chrisnosbest, on 06/30/2008, -1/+1Get Smart was so horrible I saw half the movie walked out and struck one up so I could be entertained. walked back in and walked backed out ten minutes before the ending because I would rather wait outside then watched the rest of that crap. They need to resurrect Don Adams so you can see how funny the show is and Anne Hathaway is as sexy as your grandma.
P.S. if you reply that your grandma is dead then you will join her shortly.
- tonich03, on 06/30/2008, -6/+1Hulk was horrible IMO, Ang Lee's was a masterpiece and they ruined it just for box office...well it's what always happens.

I loved this movie so much! - Hypomanic, on 06/30/2008, -0/+38I think it's their best movie. Subtle. One reviewer said it best: "Wall-E is art. Hell, it's philosophy -- it's practically religion." http://www.flickfilosopher.com/blog/2008/06/walle_ ...

- dmyers5, on 06/30/2008, -0/+20The movie was absolutely phenomenal, and I'm glad to see it doing well (although I don't expect any less from Pixar). This film was one of the rare occasions where I found myself absolutely absorbed in the characters and storytelling, and its a testament to the filmmakers that all of this was possible in a film about two faceless characters with limited vernacular.
- drewfer, on 06/30/2008, -3/+18I saw this in theater with John Lasseter (Producer and family friend) in our home town. The theater was packed with friends and everyone applauded Pixar's newest masterpiece.
- gmprunner, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4John Lasseter as family friend? You lucky son of a gun...
- Franky84, on 06/30/2008, -0/+11It's not hit UK cinemas yet but I am really looking forwrd to it, it's been a while since there was a good animated movie.
Would anyone recommend it as a date movie?
Dugg the article because it was well/written.- KMartSheriff, on 06/30/2008, -0/+9YES! Very much a good date movie. There are a lot of "aww" moments that are sure to get a girl in a cuddling mood.
- greytfriend, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5yes, absolutely a date movie, very romantic. But try defining romantic to a 9 year old - that's rough.
- cheez124, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4ohhh yea, thats a date movie for sure.
- halosniper7, on 06/30/2008, -0/+16had a conversation with some other guys:
"i totally almost cried through the whole thing."
"at least someone admits it, i cried at the end."- notadiggtard, on 06/30/2008, -1/+13I cried. But then I cried at Spiderman 3.Oh wait that was because I spent money on it...
- BigPapi, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Yeah I definitely let out a loud "WTF!" in the theater when Peter Parker was walking down the street like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
- exomni, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2Odd. I usually cry at movies, but I can't remember crying at this one.
The only part where I might cry, when WALL•E's memory had yet to kick in, was ruined by my realization that Pixar would never end a film that way. *sigh*
- notadiggtard, on 06/30/2008, -1/+13I cried. But then I cried at Spiderman 3.Oh wait that was because I spent money on it...
- cl0n3x, on 06/30/2008, -0/+51The really sad part of this is even though Wall-E is ***** amazing (just saw it today), I still see a few people taking their kids to such travesties such as Don't Mess With the Zohan and think, "WTF, why would you take your kids to such a disappointing, if not craptastic movie when Wall-E is a sure hit and would almost guarantee you feeling like it was the best $xx.xx you've ever spent on a film." Then I smile, take their tickets, and feel sorry for what they're missing and about to see. Having a job at a theater sucks hard.
- aladrin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Maybe they are waiting until next week. If they're watching a show as old as Zohan, they're trying to miss the crowds.
Actually, if it hadn't been such a damned good movie, I'd have preferred to miss the crowds, too. That's the most crowded theatre I've ever been in. Most amazing is that not 1 kid had a hissy fit during the movie. I've never been in a kids' movie that didn't have a brat throwing a fit over something before.- fishpen0, on 06/30/2008, -0/+10I had to go the whole time with a brat literally running up and down the row screaming... Parents need to be better judges of their kids ability to handle sitting still for an extended time. And they should leave when the kid wont shut up.
- karlhite, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1There was a 2 or 3-year-old kid behind me that was like, "what happened to wall-e?! where's wall-e!? hey mom what happen to Eve!?" I'll buy it on DVD, but the theater experience was awful.
- exomni, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1That's why I saw it opening night. Besides the 16-year-old girl a few seats down saying "that is SOOO CUUUUTE" every three minutes, there was no disturbances. And no annoying children.
- rpj101288, on 07/01/2008, -0/+1Not a sound out of place when I saw it. No screaming kids, no cellphones... It was bizarre. Almost as if everyone was spellbound.
- eyefork2, on 06/30/2008, -0/+8The best part was at the midnight premiere of Wanted (same night as the premiere of WALL-E) this guy decided to take his 3 kids along to Wanted. They ended up walking out in the first few minutes, it was hilarious, Wanted is definitely not a kid movie.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 06/30/2008, -2/+1HULK SMASH WALLE! Oh wait...
- RedClover9, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Love Guru and Zohan are pretty much bombing though. So there is hope for humanity.
- aladrin, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Maybe they are waiting until next week. If they're watching a show as old as Zohan, they're trying to miss the crowds.
