Exclusive: Wanted's Mark Millar Settles the Score for Fans
firstshowing.net — To prove to everyone that Wanted is the perfect adaptation of the comic, we went to creator, Mark Millar, and asked him a few brief questions to settle any disputes. His answers were exactly what we thought he'd say - Millar has been involved from the start and made sure Wanted was the proper adaptation of the comic.

- DuneMurderous, on 06/24/2008, -4/+15What's the point of changing it in the first place? There are plenty of good "straight crime stories" out there and there was no need to condense Wanted for time (with it only being a four issue run). Every studio needs to follow the lead of Marvel Studios and realize that sticking to the script of a comic sells.
Going to see it anyway. heh- christopheles, on 06/25/2008, -2/+4Do you really think there's a market for ***** monsters after Dogma?
- jedicurt, on 06/25/2008, -2/+3what marvel studios movie actually sticks to a script of a comic?????
- mychaleg, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4Dune, if by four issues you mean SIX issues, you're correct.
jedicurt, Wanted isn't a Marvel comic.
- nesagwa, on 06/25/2008, -14/+8CURVE THE BULLETS!
Thank you Morgan Freeman for helping the white folks curve those bullets.
Thank you.- lordtyros, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3Dugg for wtf
- Antonton, on 06/25/2008, -9/+1I would go see this movie just to see someone "curve a bullet." That makes everything worth it.
- Hetman, on 06/25/2008, -3/+4How much did they pay him to say that? Anways I am still going to see it. But if it is even close to what the previews show it is nothing like the comic wanted. Why didnt they just name it something else?
- diggduggDOOM, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5I completely agree. I'm sure Millar's bank account tells him that the adaptation is spectacular.
The trailers clearly show that the whole story has been changed. They should have used a different title so as not to piss off the comic fans (who are the only ones that would have seen it based on the title alone anyways).
Oh well, maybe in a few years we'll get a proper 'remake' starring Marshal Mathers and Halle Berry. Unfortunately, much like Watchmen, I don't see how a proper adaptation could be made that would be palatable to mainstream audiences.
- diggduggDOOM, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5I completely agree. I'm sure Millar's bank account tells him that the adaptation is spectacular.
- willdelaney, on 06/25/2008, -6/+3Angelina Freeman
what - pattyman5000, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2I'll believe it when I see it. The movie won me over after the red-band trailer, but I doubt this will even begin to touch on the super villain/hero concept.
- ismschisms, on 06/25/2008, -2/+12I wonder why they weren't able to get Eminem and Halle Berry. That's who the roles were written for in the first place.
- koreaski, on 06/25/2008, -0/+10I can't get over that goofy arm of hers they keep showing off.
- Ghoztt, on 06/25/2008, -5/+14Sorry, but this movie looks like utter pre-teen candy crap to me.
- RabbidBunny, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0It is pretty damn funny to read the comments at the original site. Bed wetting here I come.
- n8f8, on 06/25/2008, -1/+11The trailer makes it sound like the main premise is a group of uber hitmen and the comic book is about all the evil superfolk taking out the worlds superheroes. Sounds pretty different to me. Oh, and the lead character doesn't look like Eminem.
- lordtyros, on 06/25/2008, -5/+4Well, the comic was kind of juvenile garbage anyway, so some change might actually make it good.
- freezerburn666, on 06/25/2008, -0/+10this was a comic? its about super heroes? huh? i thought it was about curved bullets and cars that mysteriously suck you into the door instead of crushing your bones and organs after hitting you
- Gimjee, on 06/25/2008, -3/+1If they would've got some actor that wasn't widely everywhere, it might have been worth seeing, but Angelina is just too big and it's going to be annoying.
- Spyder228, on 06/25/2008, -5/+4I read the comic books and I can't even bear to see that excuse for a movie. Millar is selling out his own vision with this piece of trash.
- scabbers, on 06/25/2008, -0/+2You don't get your *****' movie check neither!
- InfinitySnatch, on 06/25/2008, -2/+2Why is this a good thing? The comic wasn't anything great to begin with.
- eyelark, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6Wanted without super villians? No thank you.
- SpencerMc, on 06/25/2008, -0/+470% my ass.
Why don't they just give it a different title and a subtitle that says "Inspired by: Mark Millar's Wanted" - Ceeman, on 06/25/2008, -3/+1The ending of the book sucked. I think he kind of choked on it. So making a crappy movie is logical as hell.
- LogicBomB, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3Now if only we can get the advertising people to stop showing us the entire ***** movie in the trailers...
- Hoffmangler, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3If Sh!thead isn't in it, it's not Wanted.
- VgRasta, on 06/25/2008, -1/+1I have a hard time pronouncing words with exclamation marks.
- SaladCactusKing, on 06/25/2008, -2/+5Mark Millar is a fantastic writer, but he's also known as one of the biggest whores in comics next to Warren Ellis. He's a 100 percent shameless sellout and he's totally fine with it. I'm not making any judgments, because, whatever works for him is cool, but don't be surprised when he gushes about anything that makes him a lot of money.
- SaladCactusKing, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3This is what Mark Millar's face looks like when he's ***** you in the ass.
- tehknotte, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I like the posters on the sides of buses. I like pointing at James McAvoy.
- EdwardMerrin, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0I agree with DuneMurderous, "Sticking to the script of a comic sells." Just look at Sin City. This movie is going to eat ass. Angelina trying to be a bad ass in the trailers is so not believable.
- orutherford, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0I thought the comic was great, not the usual cookie cutter *****. In the comic he just didn't give a *****. Anyway, I can' t wait to be able to see some blood and guts, this PG-13 fest the summer blockbusters tend to be, really bores me, ***** they even made HellBoy 2 PG-13 WTF. Here's and example of PG-13 BS, The Hulk could've been so much better if there was more hulk smash and less romantic ***** from that ***** hole Liv tyler. I need less catering to kids and more destruction. Enis
- xslutx, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I'm not familiar with the comic. Did they have the whole curving bullet thing in there too? Because from the trailers it looks like it might possibly be an entertaining (albeit dumb) movie, except for the stupid curving bullets. That just totally kills it for me. At least give me some semi-believable reason as to why they can curve bullets, other than a misunderstanding of physics.
- ZosoChrist, on 06/27/2008, -0/+0First off...Wanted the comics 6 issue series was a balls to the wall story line where the Super Villians kill off the Super Hero's and rule the Earth split up between themselves anyone who has yet to read this series and is a Comic book fan should peep it out you will enjoy it. As far as the movie goes...they toned everything down to appease the masses and make more money at the box office for their own pockets...its called Hollywood fkn up another great story. Instead of a true fan or fans making the movie the studio makes the decisions and screws it all up. Look at Iron Man, arguably the best superhero movie done to date as far as following the storylines and because they followed the storylines and "Fans" were involved in bringing the movie to life from Director to Exec Producer's down to writers. But because "suits" want to cash in they tend to screw up the movies...X-Men for example if your a comic fan you disliked the fact that they jumped all over the place with the storyline and moved all over the place...what saved X-Men trilogy for me was the perfect casting...but anyway I ramble...point is Wanted the movie sux wait for the DvD but pick up the comics or the graphic novel :)
Peace,
Zoso - ZosoChrist, on 06/27/2008, -0/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanted_(comics)
A film very loosely based on the comic. It is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and starring James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman will be released in 2008. The film focuses on a league of assassins rather than super-villains. - gangxue, on 06/28/2008, -0/+0I only come to look
http://www.guozhaoaizhaolezhao001.com.cn - critofur, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1STUPID CURVING BULLETS? STUPID CURVING BULLETS! ARGH, stupid curving bullets. Why, why do movies have to have such stupidity? Dumb.
Did you know? That, in a rifle, the bullets spin, so that they will go STRAIGHT! Durh...
