- TACH08, on 10/12/2007, -24/+5What he said!!!
- nickbender, on 10/12/2007, -17/+34makes me grow a big steely one.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -24/+11Why does he have a flashlight on his chest?
- shosterman, on 10/12/2007, -20/+9Is he naked under there or does he wear underwear?
- Winters, on 10/12/2007, -16/+28Where is Ironman at again? This is obviously Plasticman
- chibigoku, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10@Roger
its his heart thingee. Cant remember what its called, he gets shrapnel in his heart in Vietnam and that and the suit are keeping him alive.... - ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13On the one hand, this Iron Man looks faithful to the comics, which is definitely worth a lot of praise and respect for the filmmakers. On the other hand, the comics it's based on make him look like a Chinese-made action figure.
When you compare a suit like this to Robocop, you can't help but laugh.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/de/RoboCop.jpg - AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5@ Winters I completely agree. The suit looks plastic. I wonder why they didn't use better lighting and photoshop to make the suit looks more metalic. Right now it just looks like an oversized action figure.
@ ilyag Yeah, robocop looks much more cheasy... but at least he looks metal. - ilyag, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7I was trying to say that Robocop looks BETTER. :)
- izmeh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1@shosterman
I get it... - mglmouser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The hip joint/hinge cap looks like my motorcycle's gas port, complete with keyhole flip cover.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Oh, the iron-y.
- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Buried because the ***** running the website implemented anti-leech. stevenstclair posted a good duggmirror link.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Man, how I would love to show up to work in that bad boy.

That '*****' is footing a huge bandwidth bill because the person who submitted this linked directly to the image. Bandwidth costs money you *****. Learn to be considerate, and encourage linking to a page with the image, not the image itself. - da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if all his stupid stories weren't on the same page I wouldn't have minded, but your forced to dig threw his ***** content to find the picture. if there was anything of value on the page except the picture I wouldn't mind.
- DetectiveX, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5Sweet. Very Iron Man.
- h3ndrix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4That would be cool in a video game.
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Good thing that Sega bought the movie adaptation rights then.
- SuburbanNinja, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62It looks like it just walked off the comic book page, I have high hopes this will turn out better than the Hulk or first Fantastic Four movie.
- DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50...or DareDevil, or Ghost Rider, or X-Men 3, or Superman Returns (an illegitimate child? Really? that's the best you could do?!) or Electra...
- RealityCheque, on 10/12/2007, -28/+14Or SPIDER-MAN 3...what a TERRIBLE movie.
- Giggy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Three words help solve this problem: Robert Downey Jr.
- STARTSOMETHING, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5realitycheque Did you see the right movie spiderman 3 wasn't bad
- stratdog25, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14@Giggy... couldve been worse... he couldve used Ben Affleck as a comic book hero... THAT would be a terrible movie.
... oh yeah. sorry. - razrielle, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5The ghost rider movie made me cry due the the fact that the comic was the only thing in my childhood that didnt involve me getting a beating
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Dare Devil was easily the worst of that bunch. Kevin Smith dropped a bomb on that one.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I just hope Robert Downey Jr. can convincingly portray an alcoholic character.
- Kronos6948, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40See, Michael Bay? Someone knows how to get things right.
- wrenchone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87Thank god.
Schumacher would have given it nipples. - nickbender, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3or sam raime.
frankly the only good comic movies to come out in the past years are batman begins and xmen 2 - noots, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19you seem to have mis-typed sin city with x-men 2
- Ramenhood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2 DanteDefiance.
I liked Daredevil, loved X-Men 3, and I really enjoyed Elektra. Lately, FF4 and Hulk are the only super hero movies I haven't really liked.. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think "300" was a pretty good comic book movie.
- wrenchone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87Thank god.
- warmonger48, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Very cool. The question now is: are we going to get the next Spider-man or the next Electra?
I hope the movie is as cool as the suit looks.... - kosmoX, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7I've always wanted to see Mangeto and Iron Man face off. Methinks it would be rather uneventful. Comic book nerds: Has this ever happened before?
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4I think every scenario has already been played in the comic book world.
Do you always insult people when you ask them for an opinion? - elroyel1327, on 10/12/2007, -38/+6It's okay mandarin, speaking as a comic book nerd myself I can honestly say that anyone offended by being called a 'comic book nerd' should cancel their subscription and get themselves a girlfriend - because we don't need their kind cluttering up our basements.
To answer your question kosmox, it's not impossible that Iron Man and Magneto have met in battle - but highly unlikely considering that Iron Man is a DC title and X-Men is owned by Marvel. If it has ever happened I'd love to know the circumstances in which it did... could be very cool indeed. (except for the whole Magneto handing Stark his ass that is). - UlicBelouve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Haven't specifically found where this has been done, but Iron Man can shield his armor from Magneto, so can Dr. Doom. I know Iron Man has "demagnetized" his armor at varying points. I think he has also magnetized it at points as well. It's a feature of his armor, and we all know Iron Man would be smart enough to demagnetize before the fight, or at least once he encountered magnetic problems.
Also remember that any sort of magnetism in the armor would affect electricity as well. So everything circuit-wise would be magnetically shielded, and likely the whole suit is demagnetized. Magneto would probably whoomp on Iron Man using other powers than trying to go right for his armor. IF the armor were magnetic, what's stopping Iron Man from changing polarity (or pulsing it) so as to mess with Magneto's control?
Like I said, that battle won't be about magnetism. Magneto can do some decent shielding, and can also blast. It'd be fun, though.
And to the above poster:
OWWWWWW...... "speaking as a comic book nerd myself.....Iron Man is a DC title and X-Men is owned by Marvel."
That, that just makes me hurt. Not to mention that Iron Man movie news is on the MARVEL website. - elroyel1327, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Actually - no, you're right - Iron Man is Marvel too.. I'd better hand in my membership card!
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Iron Man is Marvel.
I've never read a comic in my life and I know that, you lose at being a comic book nerd. - MisterRik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11You are a comic book nerd and believe that Iron Man is a DC comic? I'd hand in that badge matey!
- daleksarewimps, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2@ elroyel1327
Iron Man is Marvel.
edit: goddamnit, too slow - elroyel1327, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16If you guys only knew how insulted I am by my own mistake you'd feel so bad about making fun of me :D. Seriously I've been been posting about this movie since June 24th, 2006 - not to mention the fact that I just finished reading a Fantastic Four miniseries in which he featured prominently. Oh and while you were all watching that big budget Spider-man movie on the weekend, I was watching the Venom Saga cartoons.. I say this not to 'brag' about my fanboyish-ed-ness, but to let you know just how stupid I feel for having made that comment.
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3they fought a bit in the marvel zombies off shoot. Though of course iron man was a zombie at teh time and servied a crapload of punishment.
- stratdog25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9They also squared off a bit in Secret Wars I before the X-Men, Maggie and Avengers (with Rhodey in the Mk2 armor) teamed up.
In regards to the magnetism question, the Mk2 armor was impervious to most energy attacks - case in point - he was able to channel Human Torch's full nova flame and every frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum from Captain Marvel through the armor and out of his pulse cannons at the same time to save them from getting crushed by the mountain range Molecule Man dropped on them (Secret Wars #4). Of course, this WAS after Mr. Fantastic modded the armor with spidey's webshooters, leaving him weaponless until he got the black symbiote (Secret Wars #6).
Also, in the Armor Wars, Firepower's energy blasters did more damage to his armor because of their concussive force, not because of energy discharge.
I need a life. - Xanadude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Actually, Iron Man IS a DC comic. Also, The Punisher is in the Archie line of books.
- way2jaded, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Okay, I just want to laff at all of you for getting all steely over a picture... Remember, stay in school (not forever), don't do drugs, and remember to talk to "real" people face to face at least twice a day...
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -19/+4I think every scenario has already been played in the comic book world.
- jimmm33, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2That does look cool. I'm looking forward to the movie. But I have to ask, is Ironman drunk in this pic? LOL
- eightyd, on 10/12/2007, -30/+4Too skinny. Iron Man should seem like an upright tank; this seems like heroin-addict iron man. I guess it is appropriate then that Robert Downey Jr is playing him.
- DanteDefiance, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Go outside Comic-Book Guy!
- AmusedToDeath, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0They should use the script from Less Than Zero for the new Iron Man movie. Except instead of battling alcoholism he'd be a heroin addict. His friend, played by Andrew McCarthy comes home from college back east only to find his best friend since high school, Iron Man, face down in the gutter. The out-of-control superhero lives a wild nightlife jumping from party to party in the cauldron that is the Sunset Strip party scene. James Spade was born to play the evil Justin Hammer, Tony Stark's business rival, who supplies him with just enough smack to keep him hooked. Of course there would be the obligatory scenes of McCarthy holding Iron Man's head over the toilet as he gets the junk out of his system, or Iron Man spending the night as a man whore for flabby middle-aged guys to work off his drug debt to Hammer. I predict multiple Oscars.
- calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Who needs muscle when you've got hydraulic power!
- isjhe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Mmmm, wallpaper deliciousness.
- Deano3041, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17we need him on super smash bros. brawl
- idrvfast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I sure hope this movie doesn't suck as much as it has the potential to. I think that Downey, Jr. will capture the spirit of the character, but that doesn't mean that the movie will be great.
- Noctem, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be the suit in the movie. All the production stills we've seen so far are of the older, bulkier grey suit.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is the Mark III suit.
- Noctem, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I'm aware. I was responding to all the comments relating this picture to the upcoming movie.
- sonochamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9There's going to be at least 3 suits seen in the movie. This is the final one.
- chibigoku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10it will be in the movie, the reason there are shots of the Mark III suit is that they start from the beginning. Heres a video that got put up a bit ago proving so.....
http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2007/05/iron_man_spy_video_footage.php - CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8You're pretty sure eh? They're going to make an entire Iron Man movie and only use the grey suit? And you deduced this based off of stills after 4 weeks of shooting? And you claim this after they've shown us the red and gold suit?
- hadak, on 10/12/2007, -36/+4kinda looks like master chief.
- Seventus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23This is the most ridiculous comment ever. Kind of looks like master chief.... Kids these days have no appreciation for the characters of previous generations. Master Chief is a stupid character, in my humble opinion, but it's more fair to say that he looks like Iron Man, and not the reverse.
- MadMaxx426, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3...no, not really no.
- chibigoku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15its called a time line. Something that is made first cannot look like something made after. Its the other way around. Your Mother doesn't look like you, you look like your mother. People have a hard time understanding this I guess.......
- vornan19, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Check it out
http://halo.bungie.org/misc/cb_mcsuit.html
- mikes1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Has he lost his mind?, Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all? Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he live or dead? I see thoughts within his head.
We'll just pass him there. Why should we even care?- oblongmouth, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1digg down please (twice today i've had to do this, no effing cancel button)
- lastinginfinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Is he alive or dead? _Has he_ thoughts within his head?
The whole verse is in question form. Sry, it's my friends favorite song and he harps on everyone whenever it's misquoted. - mikes1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+0google ironman and both phrases.
Web: 207 hits for "I see thoughts...", 2 for "he has thoughts"
Groups: 5 hits for "I see thoughts...", 0 for "he has thoughts"
So, unless you have a copy of the official sheet music, I'll stick with what I said. - mikes1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Dig that down. "has he," not "he has." doh.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Is that Samus?
- exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2*cough* metroid prime *cough*
- silvertorch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Wow, suit looks great.
Now they need to get the movie dow right. - tsctsc, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1Iron Man is lame.
- Frozo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4WTF is hi-res anyway? lol It's all frakkin' relative.
- dude199, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1this is probably the most true to comic book suit in recent memory. Now only hope the movie will be good not another elektra/dare devil .
Michael Bay this is how its done!!! - masterofNone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i'll bet it would be a bitch trying to get up if you fell over in that thing.
but it sure is cool. stan winston is brilliant. - SHuisman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Hi-Res image, i only see 1.5MPixels...!?
- beedun, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Looks fake. Is this CGI?
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1fake is in not from the studio then now. CGI'd obviously the background and ambient lighting but I doubt the suit was from a rendering.
- superguysteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16It is fake in that it is not made of iron, yes.
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The only comic i have recently read is civil war, and the suit looks very similar to the one in that. Good job.
- Swanston, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I wanna see a high res picture of War Machine.
- logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Faveareau said the war machine suit wouldn't be in the movie but terrence howard plays the guy who become him. I guess he just doesn't become him yet(maybe sequel).
- swifty12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Here is a reference for what War Machine might look like, minus his extra weapons
http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/926/warmachinecopyhw5.jpg
- weebit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1yes it looks plastic. But considering that more and more stuff we buy is made from plastic it was just a matter of time before plastic hit the toon world.
- sproket, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0DUPED from a week ago!!!!
- stevenvh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, amazing that you can do a triathlon in 8 hours in one of these!!
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2It looks more plastic than iron.
- JoeyDeacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Antman's suit wasn't made of ants either
- nuggsgalore, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3Wow...a new power ranger suit.
- Elliuotatar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This picture bears a strong resemblance to the picture of the new superman that they released before his movie came out. The cool muted tones suggest the movie will emphasize brooding emotional scenes over intense action. And the plastic look screams "fake!", which does not bode well for the special effects.
- tomis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oooo. I want me one of those suits. Would be fun to get the shopping done in one of those.
- darthsuo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10 . . . a nearly indestructible warsuit that enables flight, superstrength, and energy projectiles and all you want to do is SHOP?
- razrielle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You know what would be ironic.......
- fishnchips, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No lips?
- Matri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's Iron Man, not Steel.
- cjschmidt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I wonder if Marvel's decision to turn Iron Man into comicdom's biggest douchebag had anything to do with the upcoming movie?
For those with "lives" - the Civil War series shows Iron Man to be a manipulative government tool responsible for all kinds of horrible events.- Xanadude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I keep hoping Namor will find out about Stark murdering the Atlantean ambassador. Or maybe the Hulk will twist his fascist head off next month. Or best of all, Captain America comes back to life and stomps him down on the Lincoln Memorial.
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What I really want is Peter beating the crap out of him, and getting some sort of Iron Spidey suit back (may be a black one to keep it in back in black)
- reject5467, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0im probably gonna get alot of crap for this but it looks like crap if you compare that to some of the comics the face is way to plain and needs alot of work. see marvel.com
- yunus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4He's a big walking advertisment for Maglite with all those flashlights on him.
- glui2001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2What's everyone drooling about? It's basically how he looks like in the comics. It's the least you expect for a true comic to movie translation!
- gcod, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Master Chief Brother ?
- stevenstclair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47http://duggmirror.com/movies/Hi_Res_Image_of_Iron_Man_s_Suit_1038x1527/ironmanhuge.jpg
- ShootTheCore, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Sweeeeeeeeet...
- EvoEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Hi-Res??
- mhuggins, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Yeah, 200x320 is not hi-res. The title said 1038x1527, marked as inaccurate.
- CeeJayDK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It WAS hi-res until slashfilm.com changed it to a 200 x 320 thumbnail to save bandwidth, you fool. :-)
Go see the original either go to slashfilm.com like the image says or use the duggmirror link that stevenstclair posted only a few posts above this.
Here, I'll repost it for you : http://duggmirror.com/movies/Hi_Res_Image_of_Iron_Man_s_Suit_1038x1527/ironmanhuge.jpg
- WaltDismal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yer all just cryin 'cause the photo don't show the anal power socket... In my humble opinion the suit's very respectful to the comic design. And as someone said, just be glad Joel Schumacher didn't put his mitts on this.
Hey Halloween 2008, here we come! - methodshop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3here's a hi rez image on flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=490152627&size=l - silverknife, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It looks like a shiny actin figure toy.
- ChefAnubis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1who would win in an all out fight betwen samus, master chief and iron man?
- danielsan79, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Jon Favreau is a comic fan and knows what he is doing. I've never been a fan of Robert Downey, but casting him is pretty brilliant considering the Tony Stark character. It's going to be pretty awesome seeing him go from the Mark I to the Mark II/III.
- Zackypooh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks a-lot like the poster I had on my door when I was 5.
