- BlackTye, on 07/18/2008, -9/+41Dark Knight blows them all out of the water. You shouldn't even compare it to previous Batman movies.
- crazydonat30, on 07/18/2008, -13/+4visually...yes....but as in all things, the one that set the standard comes out on top.
- havokdu, on 07/18/2008, -12/+5Batman returns deserves some respect. It has a really cool Noir touch.
- demesisx, on 07/18/2008, -12/+6I disagree. Saw it this morning in IMAX and was happy with the product just not more excited than Burton's version.
- crazydonat30, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1burtons version was fine with me. nolans version is also fine with me.
- LordSnootington, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5I liked cracked.com's video better.

- IgorUnchained, on 07/18/2008, -4/+13Glad to hear so many people have seen the Dark Night already! Way to suspend judgement until you actually see the movie!
- scallon, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Any idea how many midnight shows sold out? Not to mention the three am shows? Oh and yeah the six am shows. I think that digg caters to the type of person who would have put the effort into seeing one of early showings.
- MtheoryX, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I just read in my local paper they've already done $18 million for just the midnight showing. At an average of around $8/ticket, that's about 2.25 million people.
What I'm blathering about and trying to get at is...yes, people have seen it, quite a few, actually. - BTConan, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Knight
- soot, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10Hey Batman, what did your parents get you for Christm--
- GaijinTenshi, on 07/18/2008, -1/+6I still dig the Lewis Wilson version of Batman from long ago. (1943)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035665/- dfsjdkflasjk, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1Congratulations, you found the oldest movie of Batman to make people think that you know a lot about movies not impressed with today's newfangled, money-hungry movie makers.
- venir, on 07/18/2008, -1/+19I don't quite get the reasoning on some of these. They have a longevity category that Dark Knight can't possibly win yet because it just came out so they default it to the Tim Burton movies. They have a couple categories where they say "Dark Knight could win but we don't know yet" and to me that seems kinda dumb. I don't see this as a fair comparison when the judgement is made on obviously biased guidelines.
- crazydonat30, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1its like a preview of things to come??? so eventually the dark knight will top them. and then later on down the road a new batman film will top the dark knight. it happens all the time.
- WheezyMustafa, on 07/18/2008, -1/+18I was lucky enough to see the Dark Knight last night, and it completely blew my mind. Christian Bale Batman is my new favorite, with Michael Keaton in 2nd.
- crazydonat30, on 07/18/2008, -1/+8bale is good, but the voice just kills it for me, sounds like he has emphezema. keatons voice was low and scratchy, but just right. both excellent batmans by the way. and besides, for keaton to be known mainly as a comedic actor (beetlejuice , multiplicity, mr. mom, etc) batman showed how good of an actor he can be. and bale is used to that type of character (dark, mysterious ex: american psycho, machinist, prestige) but like i said, both damn good batmans.
- MtheoryX, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Multiplicity is, and will always be, my favorite comedic role (or should I say roles?) for Keaton.
- crazydonat30, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1haha. it was funny. ill give you that.
- whatthefu, on 07/18/2008, -2/+7Why would you write this article before The Dark Knight was out and then admit that it's possible if not likely that it would surpass the original in certain aspects?
- jimbruno, on 07/18/2008, -8/+39 Pages? BS.
Conclusion: Burton wins.
Rediculous. - kraetos, on 07/18/2008, -4/+2I have to say I was disappointed Ledger never said "have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight." It's one of my favorite lines.
That was, however, my ONLY disappointment with TDK. It was WAY better than Keaton's Batman, and better than Batman Begins too. Probably the best movie of the year. - JPamplin, on 07/18/2008, -1/+24Just saw The Dark Knight on IMAX. Folks, do yourself a favor...
1) Find an IMAX theatre in your area that's showing it
2) Try to find a show that isn't sold out
3) RUN, do not walk, and go see it.
Heath Ledger is so engrossing in this role - some scenes really make you squirm with fear and dread. He is clearly the best part of this film. But that's not all. This is one of the most complex superhero movies I've ever seen. Plot, action, TWISTS - I need to see it a couple of more times to absorb it all.
It is THE awesome.- MtheoryX, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4With proper planning, I believe that walking is a completely valid option.
- LeeSoong, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Apparently the role made Heath Ledger squirm with fear and dread too...
- zizzy, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I sat in the very front row for the midnight showing, does that count?
- mrinsanity, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Was the IMAX screen flat, or curved around the audience? The one I went to at midnight was curved and really ***** up the perspective of everything. Awesome movie, but it was like I was watching it through a fisheye lens which kinda blew. I'm gonna see it again at a normal theatre.
- JPamplin, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2It seemed a little curved, but we sat in the back middle, which gave perfect perspective. You could tell which scenes were in IMAX (change in aspect ratio), but the sharpness and detail were stunning.
- havokdu, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5I just saw a bit of Batman Forever (they are continually playing past batman movies on cable to cash in from TDN).
I forgot how lame Robin was in those two movies. Let's hope they don't include him in the next movie.- arnmsctt, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1If Nolan decides to include Robin, he would make it work.
- whatknight, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1i hope they don't make another movie...
- lindsayb, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1“Holey rusted metal, Batman! The ground, it’s all metal. It’s full of holes. You know, holey.”
-- Robin
Wow! You KNOW Dark Knight is gonna be WAY better than Batman Returns! - scubaman5000, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Batman came out 20 years ago?.................I'm old :(
- LeeSoong, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Well, I think the tights and 'boy wonder' companion would have been a dead giveaway right from the start.

- carl25, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4batman would win
- T33B, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0Current just did a history of Batman bit, too:
http://current.com/items/89113724_timeline_batman - doggy, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2do you think that they will put all the films in a box set
- inspecality, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3wat
- TecK415, on 07/18/2008, -4/+5Wow, Burtons batman wins??? That movie sucks ass. I never saw it though, and I haven't seen the Dark Night yet, but I know it's the best by far. Everyone in it should win an Oscar, hands down the best movie ever made in the entire universe. I mean really, be logical here. You don't have to see a movie to know that you're opinion is right and everyone who disagrees is wrong. I go by facts,(also by watching the trailers) and I'm never wrong. THE DARK NIGHT RULEES.
heh.. - keithburgun, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5The batmobile from 1989 is probably the coolest vehicle ever.
- Cuchanu, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4George Clooney played Batman?? Where the hell was I? Oh wait that must have been at the height of the stupid Batmans like when Arnold was Mr. Freeze or whatever.
- LeeSoong, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Meow...

here kitty, kitty, kitty... - ansatsu29, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2The Dark Knight really kicks ass...whew. Its a mother-load of Batman!
- hdeck, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2dark night > burton's batman
- bubbameister33, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1How bout this:
Nolan's Batman x Burton's Batman = Almost forgotten Schumacher Batman.
- bubbameister33, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1How bout this:
- SilentSpyder, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3I like the Nolan movies overall but I prefer Burton's Batman, even though he's stiff he just looks cooler.
- wiseasgandalf, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1hip, snarky, and insightful--- great article on all the batman movies!
- ebde1218, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1Clearly the guy who wrote this article hasn't seen the masterpiece that is "The Dark Knight".
- mrinsanity, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3yeah, i noticed the imax scenes filled the whole screen and were a lot sharper, but from my angle, which was towards the bottom and off center, it was really a pain in the ass to watch. A lot worse than watching from the front row of a normal theatre.
- tehknotte, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1He kick your butt man, come on! Batman's the man!
- ahughes, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1In one corner, we have the current Batman, Christian Bale. In the other three corners, we have a rotating cast that includes Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and, of course, Adam West.
I count 5 Batmans, not 4.... - SLockhart, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1The ears on the current Batsuit are a little to small for my liking. Other than that it's the best looking Batsuit.
- HumanRecalled, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2@Batman vs. Batman vs. Batman vs. 'Dark Knight'
kinda forgetting a batman aren't you ? Like Val Kilmer ? he was the 3rd Batman overall in the last 25 yrs and 2nd after Keaton !@
Also Christian Bales Head piece sucks !! the neck piece in the back of the mask is to long from lower than the shoulder blades to the peak of the back of the head it looks like he wearing a freaking neck brace !
Plus Bale sucks a Bruce Wayne and his voice as Batman sounds like a pre pubescent teen trying to sound hard by deepening his voice when in front of adults to show that he is mature and can hold his own ! like a dam cold/sore throat that he can't shake !! - OpenLaszlo, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0In Batman v Batman v Batman, the movie studios win.
- havokdu, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1I said Tim Burton's "Batman Returns", not "Batman Forever" or "Batman & Robin"
