Is Quentin Tarantino Compromising ‘Inglorious Bastards’?
geeksofdoom.com — The movie is looking to start production this Fall and a strong cast is forming with Brad Pitt, B.J. Novak, Mike Myers, Samm Levine, and Eli Roth signed on and many more to surely come. This is everything we ’ve wanted, isn’t it? We should be giddy and riddled with goosebumps, right? I’m not so sure.

From what I've heard about Inglorious Bastards, it does seem like quite an homage to The Dirty Dozen, to put it mildly. Though, knowing Tarantino, he'll spit out something where you can clearly see the influences, but be forced to admit that it's something new and different entirely.- richirwin, on 08/21/2008, -0/+6Actually, I really like his movies and am sort of hoping that it is (essentially) a "Dirty Dozen" remake. I think QT would do it VERY well.
- Cenobite, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5I see what you did there.
- srick77, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, B.J. Novak and Eli Roth in the same movie would have been enough for me to quickly forget about seeing this one, and I love Tarantino. Does he have to go for the "against the grain" or "career resurrecting" casting in all of his flicks? And Eli Roth? Bleck!
I just have a hard time seeing this working with the casting he's already done, let alone if someone like Sandler would have been able to do it!- 0U8I2, on 08/21/2008, -0/+4If he doesn't resurrect these careers then who will? I'm still not sure what kind of movie this is going to be but if it's QT, then I'll be watching.
- the42ndpotato, on 08/21/2008, -0/+4Why do we want those careers to be resurrected? Sandler hasn't done anything good since Punch Drunk Love and Mike Myers has been going downhill for years. Simon Pegg I would pay to see though.
- empressofmetal, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1Does Sandler need a comeback? He seems like one of those actors that puts out like 2 crappie movies, then 1 big hit and that's the cycle. I can't really imagine him in a Quentin Tarantino film.
- 0U8I2, on 08/21/2008, -0/+4If he doesn't resurrect these careers then who will? I'm still not sure what kind of movie this is going to be but if it's QT, then I'll be watching.
- XMovieGodX, on 08/20/2008, -0/+7Sandler isn't that bad of an actor, he just makes a lot of movies people hate with a passion.
If someone doesn't like him at all, that's one thing, but for people who liked him before he went family-crazy and for people who liked him in Punch Drunk Love, Spanglish and Reign Over Me, seeing him in a WWII movie would have been awesome.
Just another way to look at it. - TheRub, on 08/20/2008, -1/+7I can do nothing but shake my head at these casting choices so far. I hope QT knows something we don't...
- steakfry, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9Tarantino making a ***** movie? That would be a real shock, what with him having never done that before and all...
- jaxomlotus, on 08/21/2008, -1/+7Ever since that crappy vampire movie he made with Robert Rodriguez I've never liked his movies.
- SVOboy, on 08/21/2008, -1/+5Yahh trick yahh
- Joefy, on 08/21/2008, -1/+6Grindhouse (both) was an awesome night at the theater. Especially during those fake previews for other grindhouse flicks.
- packerschris, on 08/21/2008, -1/+5The thing is with QT is that he takes people that you would not expect to be in a good movie, and write awesome parts for them based on who they are as people. He has never directed a movie I didn't like. Take Kurt Russel: a lot of people said he would make Death Proof suck, but he made it awesome. You gotta trust this guy, he has made enough movies now to know what hes doing.
- empressofmetal, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1You're right. And that's why I'm really curious to see what he does with Brad Pitt. Also, BJ Novak, wonder how he'll be.
- RegularJohn, on 08/21/2008, -1/+6This is simply gonna kick ass!
- MarkDykeman, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5I think this movie would be worth checking out. Too many high profile names, though.... I dunno.
- the42ndpotato, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3I think Burn After Reading tops it for star names - George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton... The Coen brothers are true visionaries, unlike a certain Mr. Tarantino.
- angelad, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3Tarantino usually has some interesting casting in his movies. I like that it's not the typical. Getting Brad Pitt is a big one for this. Does that mean George Clooney is not far behind?
- ifnotme, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3I trust Tarantino, he hasn't let me down so far.
- copperplated, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2Me too, I'm always happy with his movies. I actually think this movie needs some more obscure actors. Brad Pitt seems way too big for a Tarantino movie, no? This movie seems a lot different than Tarantinos' other ones.
- Hypermarkalan, on 08/21/2008, -1/+1What a boring, non-story. Buried.
