First Blood is a classic action movie with a plot to matches even this modern gorefests intensity. Ideally, Rambo should have ended with first blood (and in the novel, he commits suicide, they even filmed/tested that ending). That movie has so much character, it makes you feel for John Rambo's plight, and what post traumatic stress disorder can do to a person when they think they've lost everything and no one cares about what they've been through or what they've done.

      People often mistakenly state that he kills the guy int he helicopter. Rambo throws a rock at the helicopter as it hovers in mid air. The pilot veers away. The dumbass deputy who is shooting at Rambo from the helicopter isn't secured into his seat. He falls out of the helicopter to his death. Rambo didn't kill him.

      Near the end of the movie, three deputies in a car are taking shots at Rambo in a truck. Rambo forces them off the road into a parked car, causing them to explode in glorious ball of flame. Three dead.

    236 kills / 2.59 kills/ min = 91.32 min
    91.32 min - ~3.5 min = 87.82 mins
    236 kills / 87.82 ~= 2.68 kills per minute since the first kill not 3.04 as cited.
    That is a fair bit closer to the third movie than the table shows.

    • kajoob, on 02/02/2008, -0/+5First of all, a "mortal wound" is one that kills you. Secondly, Rambo actually doesn't kill anybody in First Blood. One cop falls out of a helicopter, but that was his fault, not Rambo's. In the book, Rambo does kill a lot of the cops, then he commits suicide. If you look around you can find the suicide scene on the intarwebs. Rambo puts a gun in Col. Troutman's hand and forces Troutman's hand to pull the trigger and kill him. They should have left it in, but I guess they figured it would make it too dark.

The cop lost his footing and fell down and died. Every other cop in the movie was stabbed in the arm/leg or had taken non-lethal shots. Technically, Rambo didn't kill that one cop, just caused the events leading to his demise.

Surprisingly though its a really good read...I paid $40 for an original hardback copy off of ebay. I suggest everyone should read it.
