- Rapter09, on 07/14/2008, -4/+153I have to give it to Mark Hamill; A lot of people say 'Man, that guy never did anything worthwhile since Luke Skywalker." and, yeah, maybe you're right in some ways. He's really the big "Where is he now? Not in a place like Harrison-fricking-Ford, that's for sure' kinda guy to pick on out of the Star Wars cast. Carrie gets off because she's a woman. But you know what? Hamill has done a heck of a lot of good voice acting, and it's a lot of really good roles in some of my favorite shows. So yeah, I think Hamill made it pretty good and I no longer really think of the guy as a loser when I think "Where are they now?"
I'm sure he proved his acting chops on Broadway, but to me personally he's definitely going to go down in my own personal history as Luke Skywalker and Senator Stampingston.- LaughingMan11, on 07/14/2008, -0/+45Lots of respect for Mark from me, too. His version for Batman The Animated Series really stands out in my mind. I'd almost go as far as to say that he's the definitive Joker.
- dopste, on 07/14/2008, -4/+15I agree his Joker is brilliant......I'll wait 'til I've seen Mr. Ledger first tho
- arvvvs, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Yeah he is. He could never act it, but the voice is the best.
- appleseed1234, on 07/14/2008, -2/+1Heath Ledger is the best Joker, because he's dead.
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/14/2008, -4/+18Carrie Fisher gets off because she's also ***** ***** insane. Manic depression can take a huge toll on your career, especially in severe cases like her. Though it seems to be a major trait in Hollywood...
- crossmr, on 07/14/2008, -1/+8Except she seems to be responsible for sister act... so that kind of cancels that all out
- Gauthic, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5Cocaine's a helluva drug!
- Wartyboskfapped, on 07/14/2008, -1/+29Carrie Fisher is one of the top script doctors in Hollywood - the go-to girl for any director who needs to make their script's dialogue or pacing much, much better, and she's paid accordingly. Her novels aren't too shabby, either. She's an excellent writer and a good human being who has been thru hell, beaten addictions, and is probably a stronger and better human being than the majority of the internet ***** that post ***** about her. She doesn't need to be given any breaks, she's proven herself many times over.
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/14/2008, -2/+7@Wartyboskfapped
I didn't say that she didn't work, only that she's manic depressive. In the manic phase, people tend to report being very creative and very enthusiastic about their work. This drive pushes people to do some pretty amazing things. Unfortunately they eventually crash if they're not careful. And the higher the mania, the harder the crash.
Hollywood loves this type, and is almost a prerequisite to working there. But while it can produce some very good work, it can be dangerous. She's lucky to have been surrounded by people that took care of her during both the highs and lows, because she very well could have hurt herself and others. And then she wouldn't have been able to do any of the work she's done. She may not want any breaks in her work, but that's not to say she's doing things completely on her own.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 07/14/2008, -0/+21It's sad that in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back they had to literally flash his name up on screen, as none of the test audiences knew who he was.
- coyote1284, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1*Applaud!*
- Dundasbro, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4He also did a voiceover for the World War Z audiobook.
*The more you know* - nbcaffeine, on 07/14/2008, -0/+15Luke be a Jedi toniiight! Just be a Jedi toniiight"
- Greengoo, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5Use the forks!
- MiDri, on 07/14/2008, -0/+12You have to remember that George kept giving Ford more roles too, he kinda ignored Hamill.
- OwdenBowden, on 07/14/2008, -7/+1Interesting list but I have to say that Billy Dee Williams (a.k.a. Lando Calrissian.) was the Jar Jar Binks of his time. Not necessary and only added to appease. Anyone could have played that role. Also - I agree with the Mark Hamill comment but what the hell happened to that guys nose?
- GalacticCmdr, on 07/14/2008, -0/+10A very nasty car accident - see the wiki
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/14/2008, -0/+18I'm sorry, but no. Williams played the role of the person who backstabs his own friend for his own gain, only to find his conscience and join the rebellion. Jar-Jar, and pretty much the entire Gungan race, was there for comic relief and that's about it. Please don't insult Billie Dee like that...
- RealmDown, on 07/14/2008, -0/+10Calm down, buddy. Here, have a Schlitz malt liquor.
- Greengoo, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6Yah, but riddle me this: Who had a totally sweet role in Command and Conquer III? Hint: Not Jar Jar!
- ApokalypseNow, on 07/14/2008, -0/+8Hamill's Joker is perfect - nobody does a ***** [pun intended] insane laugh quite like Hamill. That low chuckle quickly rising to maniacal cackling still makes me shudder, and conveys exactly what kind of crazy the Joker is. Just as I always "hear" Kevin Conroy's voice as Batman in my head when I read Batman comics, so too do I "hear" Hamill's voice as the Joker for his part. In reading some pre-Bat:TAS and post-Bat:TAS comics, I'm pretty sure that a number of writers are the same way.
- RX9735, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4I like Mark. When corvette summer came out I thought he did a good job breaking away from Luke. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077372/ I really like the movie last few times I saw it years ago.
- MetalHead73, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7All of you are wrong, only the ***** KNOCKER will live on in my mind as Hammil's most memorable performance
- Crasoum, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7Actually, there's a funny story behind that. Ha, ha, you're gonna love this. True story!
- WallnutBoy, on 07/14/2008, -1/+1Avenge me.... Avenge meeee....
- ganjaguru, on 07/14/2008, -0/+8Let's not forget the awesome Wing Commander series.
- dhVyse, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Mark Hamill is brutal, that's brutal.
- Tyrghast, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5Hammil also does all of the voices in the illuminati sequences at the beginning of each Metalocalypse episode.
- iamsmooth, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3I'd actually go as far to say Hamill does the best Joker voice. I'm not too sure about Ledger's Joker, but Ledger's laugh sounds like he's basing it off of Hamill's version; which I'm sure he researched extensively.
- mrdog, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4hey, they forgot to add the stormtropper before/after http://www.eatmyshorts.net/pictures/1616/Depressed ...

- CGorman68, on 07/14/2008, -1/+184Hamill looks like Palpatine
- Blitzwing84, on 07/14/2008, -0/+88"The circle is now complete."
- kc0re, on 07/14/2008, -9/+3There could be a reason for that. Wasn't the makeup for palpatine designed from Hamill's face? Or am I nuts. (betting i am nuts)
- ligyron, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Yes, it was. Now share that information with all your Star Wars fan friends and report back their responses
- scarz0ftime, on 07/14/2008, -0/+52"Something something something dark side.
Sometime something something complete." - JettaMan, on 07/14/2008, -2/+10What, they couldn't find a picture of Lando Calrician? That dude never wore a beret in the movie.
- SwitchXFactor, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4Yeah Hamill looks pretty rough... seems like he let go a bit.
- fruscianteisgod, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7yea he got in a real bad car accident i believe and it messed his face up real bad
- Lythium, on 07/14/2008, -0/+11It was a motorcycle accident, and that was actually before Return of the Jedi was filmed: that's why Luke looks so much older in that one than in the previous two. As far as I know, Hamill's face had to pretty much be reconstructed - but that still doesn't explain why he looks like the Emperor in the recent pic, since any accident-related disfigurement would have shown up long before now (one would think).
- floorman56, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3It was a motorcycle accident, and that was actually before Return of the Jedi
I heard it was before TESB that is why there is a Wampa scene at the start of TESB. and the Wampa messes his face up
But on wikipedia
Despite reports, the scene in which Luke gets knocked out by the Wampa was not added specifically to explain the change to Mark Hamill's face after a motor accident that occurred between filming of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Lucas admitted that the scene "helped" the situation, though he felt that Luke's time fighting in the rebellion was sufficient explanation
So who knows
- tobtoh, on 07/14/2008, -0/+26Does anyone else think that the current Pope looks like Senator Palpatine?
- lebatte, on 07/14/2008, -2/+5Everyone will look like Palpatine at some point. It's called getting old.
- Cagnazzo82, on 07/14/2008, -2/+1Apparently someone forgot to send the memo to Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones...
- MelvinSchlubman, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Carrie Fisher looks like Leona Helmsley.
Peter Cushing looks like Bela Lugosi.- dirigibleduck, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3They must have purposely chosen the absolute worst photo for this, to highlight the difference.

- MickJT, on 07/14/2008, -1/+31"Ford is set to reprise his other Lucas character Indiana Jones for an upcoming fourth installment, but it seems his Han Solo days are over."
I can't see a date, how old is this article?
There's also no mention that Frank Oz is still doing the voice of Yoda in the new animated movie & series.- indianajosh, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Frank Oz is not doing the voice for the new series.
- KJSatz, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4I saw this on digg last year.
- LeonidasStokely, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4I can't wait to see this fourth installment! When does it come out???
- zosoIV, on 07/14/2008, -1/+60Gotta give it up to Mark Hamill. He does voice-overs for Metalocalypse.
- nbcaffeine, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7For those Dethklok fans (like me) who couldn't figure out who he voiced:
http://tviv.org/Metalocalypse/Senator_Stampingston
(also has done a few others, but that's the main one) - dougmc, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3To be fair, he does voice overs for everything it seems -- animated shows, video games ...
He was in in a few low budget sci-fi movies, though it seems that his niche really turned out to be voice work.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000434/ - spritom, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Seems like any time my kids turn on the TV, Mark Hamill's on there...Avatar, Danny Phantom, Sponge Bob, Tom and Jerry, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Clifford the Big Red Dog,

Wow, the wording is thick with an underlying desperation "Kenny 'r2-d2' Baker from Star Wars - official website!"- LeeDoyle, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1How old is this? Looks like one of them OLD frontpage templates
- DellDrEvil, on 07/14/2008, -18/+2Do we really need a "Where are they now?" for this?
We all know where they are. Harrison Ford just made a heart breaking sequel to Indiana Jones, and the others are where they belong: Basking in the glow of obscurity.- andywu92, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Oh, thanks for clearing that up!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to reading the article
- andywu92, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Oh, thanks for clearing that up!

- doctechnical, on 07/14/2008, -12/+21Carrie Fischer could do one hell of a drug abuse PSA. First we see the pictures of her in ESB w/ Jabba the Hutt, and the voice over goes "Remember me? I played Princess Leia in Star Wars."
Then we cut to her present day, wearing that same gold bikini. "Kids, don't do drugs."
If that doesn't shock you off drugs I don't know what will. Doing Ozzie's laundry, maybe.- supermanky, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1It could happen to you...

- jbmcb, on 07/14/2008, -0/+21Carrie Fischer has been a "ghost-fixer" for screenplays for quite a while - since the 80's I think, but she doesn't get credit. They bring her in to fix problems with scripts - I think she's been doing it before her official novel-writing career.

- IphtashuFitz, on 07/14/2008, -1/+21Is it just me or does the picture of Peter Mayhew look a bit like he wanted to become a Wookie himself? He could use a bit of help with his hair styling...
- SolidBones, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Wow, Peter Mayhew actually has a pretty interesting story.
"He received his first acting job in 1977 when the producers of the movie Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger discovered Mayhew from a photograph in a newspaper article about men with large feet, and they cast him in the role of the minotaur." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Mayhew
Poor abnormally tall fellow.
- SolidBones, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Wow, Peter Mayhew actually has a pretty interesting story.
- borez, on 07/14/2008, -1/+33Dave Prowse used to own one of the very last old skool Gyms in South London, it's was one of those places where people actually went to work out with real Olympic weights, punch bags and sawdust on the floor, not one of these poxy generic 'look-at-me, I'm a complete fake tanned bubble armed tosser' gyms you see everywhere nowadays.
I was gutted when it closed down + for all the geeks on Digg ( we'll for all of us really ) the great man himself once showed me his original George Lucas side noted Star Wars script that he had kept in absolutely mint condition... probably, for a collector, one of the Holy Grails of Star Wars memorabilia. He said he had been completely gutted when they didn't use his voice though.
Giant of a man, proper gent.- jbmcb, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7Dugg for "bubble armed tosser"

- REsplin, on 07/14/2008, -1/+41Is it just me, or is it a little weird to have entries for 'Where are They Now' when a few of the actors are dead?
- plbogen, on 07/14/2008, -1/+45Hi, I'm Harrison Ford, the only actor whose career will not be destroyed by this film.
- blackinthmiddle, on 07/14/2008, -1/+23Last time I checked, James Earl Jones has made a decent living for himself after Star Wars.
- Daniel16399, on 07/14/2008, -6/+1That's much different since his face didn't actually appear in the movie and therefore people don't tend to associate his face with the movie. I didn't even know that was him until I read this article; but then again I didn't know any of their names, with the exception of Harrison Ford of course.
- brycelb, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2Sorry Daniel. Even people who don't think that Star Wars was based on a true story know that James Jones was the voice of Vader. People who claim they don't are in the minority not the other way around.
- kalii, on 07/15/2008, -1/+1Buried b/c your too damn young.

Holy cow! A percentage of the gross on Star Wars?! That's got to be an insane amount of money.- Wartyboskfapped, on 07/14/2008, -0/+12He only got a fraction of a point - which worked out to be about 6 million bucks in 1978.
- blackinthmiddle, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7Good money even today. GREAT money 30 years ago! If you were to let that money sit and collect a modest 8 percent interest for 30 years, that's almost $56 million.

- MOJIRA, on 07/14/2008, -1/+17Looks like good old Alec Guinness was the smartest one; he had the foresight to negotiate for a percentage of the film's earnings before anyone knew it would be a mega hit.
- Screwy1138, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Alec Guinness was also one of the premier names (Peter Cushing as well) going into the first movie. People today don't know what a huge actor he was in that time (at least Europe side)
- Thundercat1971, on 07/14/2008, -0/+21This list is incomplete without the true hero of the rebellion, Porkins!

- kevyn, on 07/14/2008, -1/+17Do those light sabers give off radiation? Luke looks kinda ill...
- blackinthmiddle, on 07/14/2008, -0/+9Especially when you compare him to how well Harrison aged.
