The first one was based on nuclear because of the Cold War, this however is more of...The Happening.........we don't stop killing the earth then we will be killed. Hence the line...if you survive (humans) the earth dies but if you die (all humans) the Earth Survives. Make sense? Skippy.

    It's a movie remake, with really cool graphics, and a really cool trailer, but the plot/dialog/acting will feel empty and incomplete, and it will probably end abruptly with out a really lame explanation.

    If it had had any other name, it would have looked like an 'OK' sci-fi movie, very obviously in the modern 'lots of bangs and flashy effects' mold, but 'OK'.

    But to call it a remake - when it clearly ignores the original story anyway - it sets up a level of expectation that they cannot meet, at very least not with that set of actors. It dooms the movie to failure as 'yet another bad remake'.

    Dear Hollywood, we're not all stupid, we don't NEED you to keep reusing the same titles for us to go see things - if you had named this anything but this, I would maybe even have paid to see it.

      Lets see something new. What about Ender's Game? What about the Foundation series (hell, if they can make lord of the rings, they can make Foundation)

      Even Star Wars and Star Trek have turned to trash.

      Intelligent Sci-Fi has ALWAYS been box-office draw- why not stay smart?

      I knew this wasn't gonna be pretty when it was first announced, but what this trailer lays out so such a monumental departure from the story of the original, which is what makes it such a great film, even today, I am really shocked.
