Why the hell are you excited for Transformers 2?
filmwad.com — We have no reason to believe Transformers 2 is going to be any good. The fact that Shia is a bigger star now (and will demand EVEN MORE screen time) and the fact that Jonah Hill didn't join the film because of the script has certainly curbed MY enthusiasm.

- sterntastic223, on 06/21/2008, -88/+159I'm somewhat excited... the first one wasn't too bad.
- TopherT, on 06/22/2008, -49/+24You go to hell and you die, that was a terrible movie.
- MagikOvenMit, on 06/22/2008, -4/+15Woah, buddy...
- getbusylivin, on 06/22/2008, -3/+31It wasn't terrible. It was just generic and lacking soul.
- Ajajadude, on 06/22/2008, -10/+15It was a movie based on a ***** cartoon. Were you expecting something along the lines of Saving Private Ryan?
- thejokell, on 06/22/2008, -4/+11I would hope it could be better than an 80s cartoon that had an audience with an average age of 8. Then again, it was directed by Bay, so expectations should be as low as possible to begin with.
- Ajajadude, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6And I expect it to be about as entertaining as a cartoon from the 80's geared towards kids. Kids at heart wanting to see something that reminds them of their childhood.
- MaTT2011, on 06/22/2008, -5/+8don't worry, i got the south park Mr.Garrison reference. =)
And yes, it was a terrible movie.
- thejokell, on 06/22/2008, -25/+93Yes, yes it was. Example:
Shia LeBouf - "We have to have a giant battle with the Decepticons over the allspark"
Military Guy - "OH! I know the perfect place! Let's leave the isolated desert and go to the middle of a populated city!"
All - "BRILLIANT!"
Or how about this one:
Hot Chick - "Hook him up to this tow truck, I'll hot wire it"
Hot Chick opens up panel, connects two already stripped wires and the truck starts right up. JUST LIKE REAL LIFE!
Oh yeah, and the plan to drop all the decepticons into the ocean and hope that everyone just forgets about them - that's a great plan too!- sparql, on 06/22/2008, -15/+65Yeah, because robots from space that turn into cars was so realistic in the first place.
When are you people going to realize that considering the source material was so paper thin on plot that the movie was actually pretty good.- InfernoX, on 06/22/2008, -17/+9No it wasn't. it was retarded.
- santaliqueur, on 06/22/2008, -4/+19But it COULD have had a good plot. The screenplay did not have to be awful.
- peagle, on 06/22/2008, -5/+15"because robots from space that turn into cars was so realistic in the first place."
Is not a defence of lacking any realism in normal actions/items the audience is familar with. Yes OK the robots is far fetched, but that doesn't mean everything that happens in the film therefore should be utterly ridiculous and impossible. - hiPpymIck, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3i thought it was good too..
but they seemed to have young teen target audience
..rather than aiming it at
the original - slightly older - fans (who maybe therefore didnt enjoy it so much)
- gzusfreak, on 06/22/2008, -3/+8See, what you just did there is possible with nearly every film you are probably going to see this summer and the films you have already seen. Most films are made to entertain, not to be entirely realistic (King Kong, Iron Man, Batman, etc.).
- RaulMuadDib, on 06/22/2008, -1/+11Ironman and Batman are real, no matter what you say:
"lala lala lalalalalalalala"
- RaulMuadDib, on 06/22/2008, -1/+11Ironman and Batman are real, no matter what you say:
- biotch, on 06/22/2008, -9/+8Why on earth would you go to a movie like Transformers for the plot?. The entire movie was an action effects extravaganza and never claimed or tried to be anything else. Its special effects were, and are still, unparalleled in any other movie.
- pensivewombat, on 06/22/2008, -2/+14You have to DO something with the special effects though. All of the action sequences were tired and boring. I don't care what kind of CGI you can produce if it isn't put into something worth watching.
Then apply the rule of diminishing returns for sequels and you have a recipe for disaster. - biotch, on 06/22/2008, -8/+3lol
DO SOMETIHNG?
My god you are completely clueless as to what it took to realize those effects. So lemme get this straight. A chopper made of thousands of CG parts transforming into a giant kick ass robot and blowing up an entire army base with an assortment of deadly weapons including a detachable scorpinox transformer digging into the ground is doing nothing?
Two giant robots weaving through traffic and one CG robot blowing a real bus in half is doing nothing?
Hey i have an idea... why dont you just think just for a minute about how you would make a car transform into a giant robot and interchange seamlessly with the actual car or chopper or jet fighter or whatever other mechanical device and back to CG and get back to me when you're done. Think you can model the 2000 plus pieces it took per robot and then animate them all incomprehensibly rotating around until they create a giant kick ass looking robot or match any vehicle of the director's choosing?
Now think about what it takes to texture and spec all those 1000s of pieces, make them blow up, get damaged and scuffed and match them all to the camera moves etc.
But then I dont really have to argue with a statement like "you have to do something" despite the effects that were attained with ridiculous realism for our time... really...
Over 700 million dollars of box office gross disagrees with you. Number 1 gross in the past year, within the top 20 all time domestic and within the top 30 all time worldwide domestic. Yeah I guess people were all watching it for the plot and the dialog and the flawless acting. Apparently the effects were doing "nothing" the whole time.

- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2Umm. have you watched some episodes of the original series lately? Were you around for the original or has nostalgia made it out to be better in your mind than it was really?
It was full of lame plots and nonsense just like you describe - hell, the dialogue was even worse than the movie. The only difference was more screen time for Optimus and Megatron.
That said the movie was ok. Nothing special. All I expect from the sequel is more sort of familiar giant robots beating the ***** out of each other in interesting looking locales. Hopefully they slow down the camera a bit or at least stabilize it.- ozroy, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3That doesn't actually excuse making a ***** movie. Just because the original was campy and had crap dialogue doesn't mean you should make a movie that is campy with crap dialogue. It should be as cool as we remember the original being.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3"It should be as cool as we remember the original being"
Agreed. but I think thats impossible when you factor in the aging process, experiences gained since the original and higher expectations due to not being 10 years old anymore.

- SealandRes1, on 06/22/2008, -8/+26It could have been awesome.
It could have been good.
It could have been okay.
But because of Michael Bay, it wasn't too bad.
I don't expect the second movie to fare better than the first. - JigoroKano, on 06/22/2008, -4/+18It really wasn't that bad... if you watched it in Spanish... with the subtitles turned off.

- Jackson0909, on 06/22/2008, -17/+47Seriously? How can you people even stand to watch any movie Michael Bay makes? The film was full or ***** dialog and and even ***** acting. Michael Bay is all smoke and mirrors. Everything he touches turns to crap.
- coolcash2005, on 06/22/2008, -18/+24Only the retarded are digging you down. Michael Bay's movies are painful to watch if you have an ounce of intelligence and/or respect for movies. Its so ***** easy to make a bunch of explosions in movies, and he doesn't even try on the characters.
- coolcash2005, on 06/22/2008, -11/+9Please, someone -- anyone, refute my response. Don't just digg me down, explain why.
- sterntastic223, on 06/22/2008, -9/+8Stop whining
- santaliqueur, on 06/22/2008, -8/+9I agree with you, but I'm digging you down for being a whiny bitch. That outweighs everything.
- mCanada, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2You sir have replaced Joe Peschi as my deity.
- kelmaster1, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6the whole time throughout the movie I sincerely wanted Shia to die. I can't believe people could stand him throughout the movie. Probably won of the most annoying acting performances I have ever seen.
- Skahara, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1I liked The Island.
- burnedtubes, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I was a huge fan of the Transformers as a kid in the 80's, but I still enjoyed it as a good Pop-corn Film. It had a lot of plot holes and and silliness, but it was to be expected. Oh and I hate most Bay films. I probably only enjoyed this one because it was Transformers.
Oh and Megan Fox EPIC!!!!!!!!!!
- orlandogeek, on 06/22/2008, -8/+47Come on, you can pick it apart all you want.. but let's be realistic. Go back and watch the G1 cartoon you thought was so awesome as a kid. It's just as cheesy. Lame dialogue, cornball plots, etc. So actually if you set aside your anti-Michael Bay blinders for a second you'll see that what he did was make quite the faithful adaptation of the original cartoon. You're just too grown up and stuffy to watch it with the same childlike enjoyment that you got from the original cartoon.
- cawpin, on 06/22/2008, -6/+33Exactly, people were ripping on the movie for having no plot. HELLO! The cartoon was three things: 1. Bad guys have some simple, stupid goal. 2. Good guys and bad guys battle for whole show. 3. Good guys win.
That's exactly what the show was, week in and week out, and that's exactly what the movie was and it was AWESOME.- macbookpromat, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5And then there's the one episode in season two where they must say Optimus Prime like half a million times.
- orlandogeek, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2Yes, yes it was.
- pedo, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4so you admit the movie had no plot and you think that makes it AWESOME. interesting.
- dudefaceguyman, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2No, pedo.
Transformers is pretty much a show/movie you watch by shutting off your brain and enjoying the ride. Focusing too much on the flaws that don't matter for movies like this will just ruin it for you. It's like the people who rag on the new Die Hard movie. Yeah the 'hacking' was ***** ridiculous, but the movie was a blast to watch. - MasterPain, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0Energon is not some stupid goal. The decepticons would get ***** up off that ***** & then the autobots would kick there ass when they were hung over.
- gfunk84, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I actually watched the 20th anniversary movie AFTER the recent one, and the old one was nothing special. There was almost no story/dialog, just a bunch of poorly animated fight scenes with lasers flying everywhere. And Optimus Prime dies in like the first 1/3 of the movie. I almost couldn't make it to the end.
- gogog0, on 06/22/2008, -13/+5are you kidding, it was horrible. obviously the entire movie couldn't have revolved purely around the transformers, but the side story they picked was absolutely god awful. think about how much better the movie could have been if instead of a really really really cheesy and bad teenage love story the side story was ANYTHING else, say focused around someone who has actually gone through puberty? the movie could have been 100x better if it was more serious instead of a ***** teenage love story with horrid dialogue
- wontstoptalking, on 06/22/2008, -2/+28Hey, Shia Labeouf is an AMAZING actor, who utilizes a different personality in every movie he plays!!
Here is an example:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=8IXCK1EyP4s- MasterPain, on 06/22/2008, -1/+0No no no.
- Ortheos, on 06/22/2008, -5/+2I'm somewhat excited, the first 2 weren't so bad, said the unfortunate man on two separate occasions just before attending the premieres of shrek 3 and spider man 3.
- pedo, on 06/22/2008, -2/+5the first was absolutely horrible. i left the theatre angry. the story was offensively dumb. they found his grandfather's eyeglasses on EBAY (product placement).... the kid (labeouf) was wayy to dorky. no one is that dorky (flexing his arm in the car).... the fact that bumblebee magically changed from an old car to a new car (they are robots, they don't have mystical powers).... the whole UNNECESSARY 15 MINUTE scene outside his bedroom where the robots were trying to be quiet was dumb. why didn't they just drive and park in the damn street for ***** sake? i could go on and on.... the whole plot sucked. and none of the transformers looked anything like the original characters. even prime was hardly recognizable. just typing this is making me angry. that movie sucked a fat *****.
- ozroy, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5Found the glasses on eBay. Spent about an hour with crap action scenes trying to keep the glasses away from bad guys etc.
Finally get a quiet moment to use them and get this holographic map to the cube thing and then say "Oh wait! It's actually over here" rendering the first half of the movie completely pointless.
***** that pissed me off. - Gizza, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1"the fact that bumblebee magically changed from an old car to a new car (they are robots, they don't have mystical powers)."
ummm, scanning things is exactly how the Transformers learn to transform. He went and scanned a better looking car and the transformed into it.
That being said, it was a good action flick but a ***** Transformers movie.
- ozroy, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5Found the glasses on eBay. Spent about an hour with crap action scenes trying to keep the glasses away from bad guys etc.
- brundlefly76, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1The first one wasnt bad, and there has been a very welcome trend lately to actually make fantasy sequels *better* than the originals - Spiderman 2, Incredible Hulk, Fantasic Four II....
Hopefully they will carefully examine what worked in transformers, what didnt, and make an even better movie this time. I was never a transformers fan and wasnt looking forward to that film but I enjoyed it. - amenic, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Typical blockbuster summer movie complete with 'summer hit credits track'.
For some reason when people initially see these movies they think they are "good". But after a few months pass and they reflect on the movie it becomes mediocre or of course if they watch it again...
How does this work? Oh yes that's right - the masked Hollywood formula strikes again!
:)
- TopherT, on 06/22/2008, -49/+24You go to hell and you die, that was a terrible movie.
- bixby1, on 06/21/2008, -11/+97What bothers me quite a bit is the fact this Transformers was actually made for children (site hide ' go seek backyard scene). I'm going to see a big boy movie this summer, something with boobs, cussing, drugs n' guns, perhaps a Sponge Bob sequel?
- sterntastic223, on 06/21/2008, -4/+30Wanted looks like your best bet.
- ZenMojo, on 06/22/2008, -0/+11100% on Rotten Tomatoes so far. Guess you can ***** with a comic book adaptation and almost completely rewrite it without ruining the movie.
- Thoth49, on 06/22/2008, -8/+3Gross.
- mu0p, on 06/22/2008, -7/+1I cant believe you just mentioned one of the worst movies of the summer. Let me guess, you went and saw Mr and Mrs Smith in the theaters too. All Angelinas movies are all a joke, and a complete waste of time and money. Its always the same, "Angelina, in the new action movie of the summer" Over and over and over, just different characters, but her doing the same thing.
I hope you were being sarcastic.
As far as Transformers goes, as bad as the screenplay was, those Visual Effects were some of the most jaw dropping effects I have ever seen. I couldn't believe what they pulled off in that movie. Not for one second did I ever clinch due to poor graphics. I did a clinch a couple times due to the screenplay and directing, but those VFX completely made up for it. Even ILM said it themselves, they never seen such amazing work. So I for one and completely looking forward to number Two to see how far they are going to push those effects.- mu0p, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1you know digg is going downhill when the bashing the movie "wanted" is being dugg down.
Ha. I cant believe anyone would even watch the preview to that movie. - SquigglyP, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2exactly what is it that elevates Transformers above Wanted in your mind? The effects?
The only way you could have seen Wanted yet would be if you were a film critic or the press - and if you are a critic, then sir... you are in the wrong line of work.
Don't bash a flick you haven't seen yet.
- mu0p, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1you know digg is going downhill when the bashing the movie "wanted" is being dugg down.
- mu0p, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1wow to all that dugg me down, id be ashamed to look in the mirror if i were you.
Go see Wanted, go support some of the most pointless Hollywood movies ever made.- staticneuron, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Because a movie based off of a loose adaptation of a cartoon is sooo much better than a movie based off of a loose adapataion of a comic book.
- SquigglyP, on 06/22/2008, -15/+10You thought that was for kids? Did you forget the masturbation scene?
Seriously... you get handed the job of writing the screenplay for one of the biggest franchises that could come out of my youth, and they must have said "Hey! This would be GREAT for that really awkward and un-funny masturbation dialogue, and maybe I could throw a pee joke or three in there to top that off!"
They must have had 50-some-odd people add bits to that script, and the result was one of the most erratic and ***** unevenly paced movies I've ever seen - not helped by the fact that the guy who cobbled that fallacy together in the editing room must have been doing lines of coke the whole time. Do you really need to cut every five seconds to keep a film 'entertaining' now? The only scenes that didn't have an over-use of camera angles were the scenes where the transformers were transforming - which is great, because those over-designed over-detailed piles of walking vomit were already more than confusing enough to watch and know what the ***** was going on without having the camera make it even more difficult.
The acting, plot, directing and music were all ***** as well. The sound design wasn't bad, tho. It didn't match the editing half the time, but technically it was actually pretty good.
Wanted - from what I've heard from some trusted sources - is the best action film since the original Matrix. I'm guessing that this is gonna be the film that comes from nowhere to be the biggest hit of the year. There's always one.- koonchu, on 06/22/2008, -2/+6You sir, are a plant.
- SquigglyP, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1actually, if you liked that garbage movie, it's you. That was a movie made to capitalize on the fact that the ignorant masses are only interested in seeing big special effect robots fight each other and blow ***** up. I can normally watch a decent action flick and let the poor plot slide, but that film was so horrible, it really seriously depressed me that it was such a huge hit.
Grow some standards.

- DiggityDugged, on 06/21/2008, -34/+17I don't care what anyone says, I think Shia Labeouf is awesome. Good actor, cool life story, and he's in great movies. If you disagree with any of that, then go back and watch his early stuff, like A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. He single handedly made Disturbia a good movie -- it's not his fault if Indiana Jones 4 sucked.
- elnerdo, on 06/22/2008, -4/+10NO!
- MichaelGBoyd, on 06/22/2008, -4/+3I think he's a good actor buy Indiana Jones 4 sucked? I don't think so. Sub-par, maybe, but definitely didn't suck. It was a great movie to watch. You can't compare it to RotLA or any of the other originals..It just wouldn't be fair.
- cthellis, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3It was pretty meh-to-awful by any movie standards, but gets shot straight to "complete suckdom" due to the amount of fan violation that went on, the outright lying from the production staff ("We were waiting for just the right script!" "We're only using the bare minimum of CG!"), and the basic urination over the "damn near perfect" Last Crusade that came before it.
- dustinmacdonald, on 06/22/2008, -3/+9Disturbia was not a good movie.

- lolobabyy, on 06/22/2008, -4/+3My friend's dad knows Shia Labeouf an apparently hes a total *****...
I'm not really a fan of him as an actor either, regardless of his off screen personality - AnalJustice, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0lol why do ppl hate shia?
why do ppl hate britney spears?
in fact, have you actually heard anyone who said they LIKED britney spears nowadays?
- chocobomog, on 06/21/2008, -42/+272Because in the end, Transformers was a fun movie with great special effects that entertained. And compared to other movies of that summer it was one of the least disappointing (Spider-man 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Fantastic Four 2, Simpsons (debatable), etc). The internet was extremely negative about Transformers for the entire year before it was released, yet in the end is was a fun popcorn movie about robots that change into cars (that's not Shakespeare folks). I expect the same to be true with the sequel.
- AirRaven, on 06/22/2008, -21/+7I didn't hear a single bit of hype/anti-hype against the film before walking into the Cinema.
...I didn't once stop laughing through the entire thing. I've never seen a blander movie.- TomKarpik, on 06/22/2008, -2/+5If I had to sit behind a jackass like you, laughing the entire way through a movie like Transformers, I might just kick you in the head.
- 1337chic, on 06/22/2008, -3/+13I just forgot how much of the movie Shia spent incoherently screaming until I saw one of those trailers in this article.
Why were there so many YouTube videos randomly scattered? - Acglaphotis, on 06/22/2008, -17/+5Oh, you did not just diss Pirates 3.
- duckiedeity, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1I loved Pirates 3. Such a fun movie to watch.
- SealandRes1, on 06/22/2008, -12/+6The dialogue in the transformers was the most painful and horrible thing to listen to of all the movies you've listed above.
It was like listening to scratches on a blackboard, just horrible.- kashk5, on 06/22/2008, -1/+1The dialogue beat moving lips on giant robots?
- SpectreFire, on 06/22/2008, -9/+86Apparently, people forgot that this is a movie about GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING OTHER GIANT ROBOTS, that was based on a toy line.
What the hell did they want? The Godfather?
It's a movie about GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING OTHER GIANT ROBOTS!
Who the ***** cares about the dialouge or plot? As long as the main premise remains, that of GIANT ROBOTS FIGHTING OTHER GIANT ROBOTS, then It will continue to be ***** awesome.
And I don't get the hate over Michael Bay. He's an action director, that is ALL he knows, action shots. Sure, in most cases, it would be crap, but in Transformer's case, it fits perfectly.- Uranium118, on 06/22/2008, -3/+14The voice of reason!
- InfernoX, on 06/22/2008, -8/+1Yeah, robots fighting robots is cool. If you're twelve.
besides, the movie didn't even have any decent fight scenes and the transformers themselves were ridiculously stupid. Especially Jazz- logan074, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Did you expect something more mature from transformers?
- dark2025, on 06/22/2008, -2/+4Yeah... it SHOULD be about giant robots fighting each other... unfortunately that was really only comprised of a small fraction of the screen time. It's called Transformers, not Slutty Chick and Military Dudes (featuring Giant Robots), get it right Michael Bay! Even during the fight scenes the direction and camera-work made the action a little too chaotic to really appreciate the battle.
- Amablue, on 06/22/2008, -3/+4I disagree. Beast Wars was about giant robot animal/vehilcles and it still did very well in the plot department. It wasn't the best ever, but they did a good job with the characters and story and it didn't boil down to just robot fighting.
I mean, on one hand we had a robot T-Rex battling it out with a robot gorilla, but on the other hand, we still had some coherency. The very least the movie could have done is dropped the hacker subplot (which did nothing for the viewer and went no where and made the movie even less plausible) and come up with a better excuse for entering the city at the end. I don't see why they'd bring the cube to a civilian populated city knowing that they were going to bring so much destruction with them. - SpectreFire, on 06/22/2008, -3/+3I agree fully with that. Transformers plot-wise was a pile of utter *****. They had way too many useless characters and plotlines. But again, the parts that were a hit, were any parts where the military kicked some ass. Examples A and B, the Spectre Gunship scene near the start of the film, and the F-18 scene near the end.
I THINK they went to the city, so there would be more cover and it would be easier to fight there and wait for the blackhawks to arrive rather than just stand waiting in the middle of the bloody desert. I assume they figured the MASSIVE lost in civilian lives was a worthy trade-off to make sure there's minimal military deaths.- lacronicus, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1Dugg down for mistaking an f-22 for an f-18
- SpectreFire, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Hey, I'm Canadian, all we ***** have is F-18s. Pardon me, CF-18s.
- Gizza, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1The problem was that it wasn't actually about giant robots fighting giant robots at all. It was another generic US military saves the world flick. The transformers had crap all screen time, almost no dialogue and pretty much no personality.
- Daz3, on 06/22/2008, -7/+1I personally think the special effects were over rated - and even worse was when they used blatant props on the close ups that didn't even resemble the cgi transformer. You will also notice that almost all of the 'transforming' is masked by cheap tricks because they weren't able to pull it off convincingly.
- Daz3, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1The fact I'm getting dugg down without a single retort speaks for itself - fanboys...
- solid12345, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3I see the big complains is it had too much plot. But 2 1/2 hours of robots fighting would get really old quick, i'm sorry. It was much better building up to the climactic appearance of the Transformers, and why should Megatron have been killed in the first? It leaves room for a sequel and wants us begging for more.
- mykotron, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1http://deathtothepopcornflick.wordpress.com/2007/0 ...
- GhostM, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2I was really excited about the movie but what a dud, turns out it wasn't robots but stereotypical humans in oversized cardboard-boxes fighting each other at the speed of light so you have no real idea what just happened *gasp*
A second one? No thanks! - Stormwern, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2Pirates 3 was awesome, but loooong.
- eastsoccer19, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0right on
- kufurex, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Great special effect?
Most of the time the transformers were a blur, unless they were standing around being pissed on by a toy dog.
- AirRaven, on 06/22/2008, -21/+7I didn't hear a single bit of hype/anti-hype against the film before walking into the Cinema.
- gskill, on 06/21/2008, -16/+5Transformers was okay. Not particularly excited about T2 but still looking forward to it.
- KaiUno, on 06/22/2008, -3/+44Is that what we're calling it now? There already is a T2 and I'm pretty sure it'll blow Transformers 2 out of the water, straight from the past. But with a robot from the future.
God I'm old.- surasshu, on 06/22/2008, -0/+16You're not old, you just remember important *****.
- edwartica, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5And it sucked too! Wait, that was T3 - nevermind.

- douch3mom, on 06/22/2008, -15/+123Anything Michael bay touches turns into gold. Like a giant golden piece of *****.
- dsmx, on 06/22/2008, -2/+24Never before has that line been more appropriate than when used in reference to a michael bay movie. The movies are ***** but the special effects are so good they distract you from what it is.
- ZenMojo, on 06/22/2008, -3/+16But you'd still pick it up and put it in your pocket, now wouldn't you?

- MadHarvey, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5I didn't mind it so much when he was making his own ***** movies, making mockeries of national tragedies, etc. But now he is on a personal quest to turn some of my favorite movies into ***** as well. Take a look at his future production list:
# A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) (pre-production) (producer)
# The Birds (2009) (pre-production) (producer)
# Friday the 13th (2009) (post-production) (producer)- staticneuron, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1 A producer.... not as a director. Your films may still have a chance. I still don't get the bay hate and I guess I never will.
- kashk5, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8According to his IMDb listing, he was in talks to direct Superman Returns. Am I the only one who thinks that actually might have been a good idea? Bryan Singer is a great director, but come on, two lousy action scenes in a Superman movie?
- 1timeuser, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Poop Freeze it!
- LeviTheSmith, on 06/22/2008, -11/+5I miss-read that as "Why the hell are you exited for Terminator 2?"

*shakes head* - RedHerringHack, on 06/22/2008, -19/+7It did suck. It sucked in new and innovative ways, ways that I didn't expect. Not going to see transformers 2. T2 is Terminator 2 btw. This is not the new T2.
- Jackson0909, on 06/22/2008, -16/+8People like you are what is wrong with the movie industry today.
- biotch, on 06/22/2008, -3/+2"What is wrong with the movie industry"? You have no idea what you are talking about. As far as movies are concerned, the effects industry is booming. Whats wrong with liking a movie for its effects? Thats all the cartoon really was anyways.... giant robots transforming and beating each other up. If you are looking for a tricky plot or clever dialog you went to the wrong movie. Transformers allocated its resources on effects and it did just about the best job any movie has ever done in that regard.
- Jackson0909, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Wow............... Ignorance must be bliss.

- MaTT2011, on 06/22/2008, -18/+11A ton of people love McDonalds, doesn't make it good food by ANY definition.
And don't pull that "it was satisfying/entertaining" *****; that just shows how low the bar has been set for these consumers/zombies.
And by the way; that's NOT an argument, its a statement.- Uranium118, on 06/22/2008, -7/+6McDonalds food is good, it's just not healthy. Big difference there.
I know a Big Mac isn't good for me, but its awesome taste outweights the negative side. Same thing for Transformer. Will the cool special effect and giant robots be worth the nonexistent storyline? Hell yeah.
P.S.: Being a snob/hating everything mainstream is getting old... don't like it? don't watch it. - aptanalogy, on 06/22/2008, -3/+6Exactly, MaTT2011. That's the main problem with this country right now; we're spoon fed ***** like this by patronizing film makers, who expect us to eat it greedily; and many of us do so. Film goers interested in something deeper have gone elsewhere, to independent film, foreign films, etc... All that appears to be left wandering the spiritless multiplexes are the zombies of which you speak. The worst consequence of this paradigm is the "truth by consensus/everyone watched it and liked it, so therefore it must be good" attitude, as it encourages intellectual laziness. I fear the day when they can't dumb down a film enough to please us and people sit idly, gazing in wonder at someone jangling their keys on screen for 2.5 hours.
- charliebucketts, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3Exactly, aptanalogy.

- UserNull, on 06/22/2008, -3/+4I really enjoyed the movie. Why can't people just enjoy a movie and nitpick everything. This guy just wants to seem cool by saying he hates something we like. Wow that's really rebellious. I liked how he tried to convince us by sweet talking digg. Nice.
- happycat, on 06/23/2008, -0/+0I really enjoyed it too. Considering it was a movie based on a 80's cartoon that was made to sell toys to 10 year olds, it was quite good.

- NRay7882, on 06/22/2008, -4/+2I've got a brilliant idea. . .I'm going to write up a story about how much I hated the first Transformers, when in fact it was a lot better than I had predicted. THEN, I'll make mentions to Digg and about how everyone talked about Transformers on there, THEN I'll mention how much the sequel is going to blow! That's a sure way to get my story read!

What next? Is he now going to be a Jedi in a 7th Star Wars movie? I better shut up before George gets any ideas.- Ortheos, on 06/22/2008, -2/+3He has a likable screen presence. Don't confuse your sexual frustrations with dislike for Shia. He is totally not gonna bone you from behind no matter how much you whine and cry about his career.

Dear god. It was oozing twelve-year-old's-testosterone from every pore.
I've never seen a worse-scripted, worse-acted, or more SFX-whoring film. The thing was a Michael Bay *Masterpiece*.- iampoch, on 06/22/2008, -8/+4Man, we're talking about a movie based on an 80's cartoon that's really intended for a much younger audience than your "twelve-year-old's-testosterone", and you're expecting a movie that can go head-to-head with Hamlet?
What, next time you'll be expecting a Care Bears movie that can go head to head with Bridges of Madison County?
Sometimes, some movies are great when just left to be "adrenaline rush" ones. - Kinnkster, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1Sure it wasn't a masterpiece in every way but I think it was just the type of movie that could get away with having those sorts of problems but still being good.

- gradivus, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5That and Lucas-Spielberg .
- MazeKaz, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8And aliens.
- btschul, on 06/22/2008, -0/+6and CGI
- btschul, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2no, but he was damn sure part of the problem.
- gradivus, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5That and Lucas-Spielberg .
- MyDiggIsBig, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2no, he isn't a bad actor. he just plays parts that aren't right for him. he would make a good side-kick kind of actor. For example, paul giamatti is probably the best actor to play supporting actor. but his lead roles aren't always the best. Shia needs to take it easy and pick parts that allow him to do what he is good at.
- spaceman84, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Exactly. Which is why I found him tolerable in Constantine and that's it. He's been pretty awful in everything else.
- gregish, on 06/22/2008, -1/+3all those movies made ***** of money
thats why they put him in movies - Vikaas, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1Even if you think all those movies were bad, it can be a refuted point that everything Samuel Jackson is in turns into gold. And he sucks.
- Dino451, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Mace Windu does not suck!
- AnalJustice, on 06/22/2008, -1/+0idiot.
it's becuz he was so good that they put him in those movies.
***** shia lebouf?
no ***** you
- carrtoonist, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8Because Lebouf was the reason why Indy 4 sucked?
- SemiSarcastic, on 06/22/2008, -7/+15"Why the hell are you excited about Transformers?"
eh I dunno...should I be?
*goes back to watch Children of Man*- gozroth, on 06/22/2008, -3/+9"wait what the hell is this? I'm never buying bootleg movies from the guy at 7-11 again!"
eh I dunno... it was only 5 bucks.
*goes out to buy Children of Men* - 1337chic, on 06/22/2008, -1/+17That was a ***** amazing movie. However, Children of Men.
- btschul, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2One of the best
- gozroth, on 06/22/2008, -3/+9"wait what the hell is this? I'm never buying bootleg movies from the guy at 7-11 again!"
- jcaffoe, on 06/22/2008, -2/+14I'm pretty sure there are going to be robots fighting each other...
I mean really, does anyone need another reason? - countervirus, on 06/22/2008, -8/+3but will it blend? oh wait.....
- SoCalMario, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2yes it will blend and it also slices, dices and makes julian fries!
- lexdavidson, on 06/22/2008, -4/+12Looking forward to the new Ironman much more than the new Transformers, little tired of Shia
- lamarre2012, on 06/22/2008, -3/+11Why would Jonah Hill's opinion of a script of any effect on whether you like a movie or not?
- GohanGVO, on 06/22/2008, -8/+4I am not excited. The first one was terribly long and boring.
- Ex3poo, on 06/22/2008, -6/+6Just like I am Legend 2,CUT YOUR LOSSES
- edwartica, on 06/22/2008, -2/+8constructicons!
'nuff said. - Crisender111, on 06/22/2008, -7/+5Megan Fox? Have to have her.
Shia......ewwww *puke* - Foliot, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6Introduce or title your youtube clips please, or at least give us a hint at what we are going to be watching in the middle of your article.
- sfcaptainrob, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4I didn't even bother watching them.
- bikepundit, on 06/22/2008, -4/+8They are filming a night scene in my neighborhood as I type this, literally two blocks away, and they towed my car to make room for their trailers. ***** Paramount Pictures.
Actually they just moved it, still annoying though.- visitmyblogplz, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5they're allowed to do that?
- Spire3660, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5Sure, they just go grease the palms of city hall for shooting license, and then they can pretty much do what they want on the public parts of your block.
- timothycrash01, on 06/22/2008, -2/+7They're shooting 2 blocks away from you and you're sitting on the internet? If you're life is so exciting that that's boring / annoying for you, I'll gladly trade places for a few days. To hell with moving my car, they can smash the hell out of it as long as I can watch.
- clickwir, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6Dude, it's just a movie. It's not that special.
- staticneuron, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Blasphemy! I love movies and if I can be apart of one my having a treasured and useful item of mine's damaged... then so be it!
- clickwir, on 06/22/2008, -1/+6Dude, it's just a movie. It's not that special.
- cadmiumpaint, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2maybe you should have read the GIANT SIGNS that say temporary no parking. They put them up a week a head of time, and block the streets off with cones 24 hours in advance. or maybe pay attention to the film permit announcement that they tacked onto your door weeks ahead of time.
If you got your car towed its 100% your fault. - bikepundit, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Hah relax people, closed set, didn't see the signs. Peace.
- visitmyblogplz, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5they're allowed to do that?
- 1337chic, on 06/22/2008, -5/+15We are only digging this article because it is about Transformers 2; doesn't matter if it is good or bad. ;)
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Yeah, isn't he perpetuating the very thing he's complaining about? If he goes to Digg that much, he would know the mention of a new Transformers movie, positive or negative, will get the fanboys/girls going.
On a personal note, I haven't seen Transformers movie but the toys are pretty cool. Barricade FTW.
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2Yeah, isn't he perpetuating the very thing he's complaining about? If he goes to Digg that much, he would know the mention of a new Transformers movie, positive or negative, will get the fanboys/girls going.
- DrMilkdad, on 06/22/2008, -14/+10Transformers was a ***** piece of *****. Robots playing hide and seek for 20 ***** minutes while Shia Labouff screams NO NO NO NO NO, isn't awesome. ***** this movie.
- bitterbug, on 06/22/2008, -5/+25Transformers the TV show was simply a 22 minute advertisement for toys, yet people treat it like the holy grail of CGI cinema. Get a grip. It's a popcorn movie.
Take out the story and just have 60 minutes of giant robots beating the ***** out of each other and I'll watch it. And I'm a person that loves a good story in movies and games.- oliversan, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1It's not a philosophical film, it's like trying to criticize Die Hard for not tackling racism, it's a ***** action movie.
This man gets it.
- oliversan, on 06/22/2008, -3/+1It's not a philosophical film, it's like trying to criticize Die Hard for not tackling racism, it's a ***** action movie.
- NikoKun, on 06/22/2008, -3/+6No reason to believe that it's going to be that bad either... -_-
- Midorikatana, on 06/22/2008, -12/+4OMG Have the people who actually liked this movie forgotten what a GOOD movie should be comprised of? Character design ,good plot ,good storyline , great dialog ect...
This movie doesn't even come close to any of those, the movie sucked massive Dick Cheney balls, out of the total 2 hrs and 30 min there's only 5 minutes that are actually good the transformations! You shouldn't want to see a movie just for the special effect or graphics , and unfortunately that's whats happening with movies today excluding "(Iron man and hulk 2")There's no perfection in movies anymore they rush things don't hire good enough actors probably because we don't have anymore their either dead or living in France. However you cant change the past so complaining about this is pointless you either like it or you don't.- SpartanErik, on 06/22/2008, -5/+1Dugg down because you're being logical on Digg
- rondeth, on 06/22/2008, -2/+1Me fail English? That's unpossible!
- timothycrash01, on 06/22/2008, -1/+2"You shouldn't want to see a movie just for the special effect or graphics". Oh really. Well, here's something to think about:
There are girls you want to marry - have a relationship with - talk, hang out, get to know, fall in love with. Then there's the strip bar and porn.
Movies follow the same logic.- winterorchid, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2exactly...theres a difference between films and movies.
- memoryhole, on 06/22/2008, -1/+0I feel disgusted with myself after a night out at the strip club or while looking at porn though.
I guess your logic does make sense...
- aenegeling, on 06/22/2008, -3/+13All said and done, I bet he watches it still.. ^-^
- WyldeJ, on 06/22/2008, -12/+17How can people deny the first one was atleast good?
- clickwir, on 06/22/2008, -3/+4Sorry no. It was ok, but the robot to human ratio was off and there was too much product placement.
- DarkDynamite, on 06/22/2008, -2/+7I think that fact that it wasn't good is where people get most of these ideas.
- mcalica, on 06/22/2008, -15/+63Its funny how everyone here is talking ***** about the first Transformers; I bet these were the same guys raving about it for a week afterwards but then read a review from some stuck up critic and then turned into the cynical "I'm too cool for mainstream movies" guy. C'mon, Transformers was badass. It was entertaining, funny, and the CG was amazing. The second will not be as good as the first, but I am excited anyways. To all the cynics out there...when Transformers 2 comes out, why don't you just stay home and ponder some german expressionism? goddamn pretentious pricks.
- FoxRacR17, on 06/22/2008, -3/+14Nicely put. Completely agree, it had everything I wanted in a summer movie: 1) HOT ASS GIRL, 2) Giant fighting transforming robots from outerspace 3) Awesome CG 4) Cool cars. I liked it, and I will be there to see Transformers 2 on opening day.
- jpaolini, on 06/22/2008, -3/+6Very well said indeed, and I completely agree at well. It was made to be a fun summer action movie, and that's exactly what it was plain and simple.
- cthellis, on 06/22/2008, -7/+2You forgot to put the space between "bad" and "ass."
- negativenancy, on 06/22/2008, -2/+2I honestly wonder if the *friends* these cynics watched the movie with are uptight snobs as well. Do they wallow in their own pretentiousness in the same way others wallow in their entertainment?
- cthellis, on 06/22/2008, -0/+3You do realize your handle is "negativenancy," right? ;-)
- CDHarrisUSF, on 06/22/2008, -0/+2If there were people getting hit in the balls, full frontal nudity, and maybe some random farting... would it be the best movie ever? While we're making changes... all that annoying "plot" crap lowers the EPM (explosions per minute). I smell an Oscar.
- clickwir, on 06/22/2008, -1/+4Not likely. Just because you see the people on digg posting doesn't mean it was the same people as before.
Cool cars? 1) No, none of them were cool. 2) They were all product placement. In movie advertising. - Ortheos, on 06/22/2008, -1/+5The film actually has little replay value. After seeing it 2 times i never want to see it again. It is extremely shallow eye candy material. Once the eye candy becomes stale, there is nothing of substance there.
But on the big screen the first time, it was hunky dory and I dug it. Now I don't dig it. Sue me child.

- DelvarWorld, on 06/22/2008, -16/+12Any Transformers movie where Optimus mother ***** Prime says "oops, my bad" after stepping on a flower bed is an abomination. This article is spot on.
- eastsoccer19, on 06/22/2008, -3/+0Who gives a ***** what he ***** said the movie was still bad ass. And don't give the ***** excuse that any self respecting fan boy should hate this movie cause I know about 10 true fan boys of Transformers and they loved this move and are pumped for the second.
- Hypersapien, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Kind of like how I loved the H2G2 movie until the denial started wearing off?

- Halsfield, on 06/22/2008, -1/+9 Do i hope optimus has more screen time in transformers 2? hell ya, but the first one was just fine, the transformers were supposed to hide from people , thats the whole "robots in disguise" thing, remember?
Also, this is a cartoon based on toys, stop taking it so damn serious. Get some popcorn, take your friends(or girlfriend if you're not a total scrub) and enjoy 2hrs30min of fun movie.
Lastly, megan fox bending over the car was worth the 8.50 ticket price .- Hypermarkalan, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Yeah, it's a cartoon based on toys. So base the movie on the same ***** toys, not on Douchebag LaDouchebag.
And if you'll pay 8:50 just to see an underfed club-rat bend over a car, then you got some serious value-problems. You do realize that YouTube is full of cam-chicks of the same caliber? And it's pretty much free?- Halsfield, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0
didnt like the first one? dont see the second one, but it sounds like you're so crazy about getting the exact look of the robots correct that you'll be in the theater for the second movie to document every tiny mistake for sharing on the interwebz, instead of having a good time.
and its good to know you spend your time crawling youtube for cam-chicks, i didnt need to know those existed, thanks for the info.
- Halsfield, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0
