X-Files 2 Gets a Teaser Trailer and a Release Date

      Also they mentioned that this movie will be in real time meaning this story will take place after the end of the show. So they will have to address and or answer Mulder and Scully being on the run after the end of season 9.

    Also, if you think they would "ignore" the final seasons of the X-Files you need to get your head out of your ass. Just because you don't KNOW how Mulder and Scully arrive at wherever they are in the movie doesn't mean they is no explanation at all. Grow a brain unless you want to continue being comparable to an ostrich.

Coincidentally, or not, the show went downhill as soon as they were in LA. It was always so odd, one season they are in woods and raining every episode, the next it's desert all the time.     I have no interest in this movie beyond writing this post.

  • tgc1, on 02/27/2008, -0/+15Finally they bring back the two who made the original show worth watching. Scully and Mulder. I swear once mulder (david duchovny) left the show, I lost interest. They had excellent chemistry and made the show work. Once he left and was replaced by the terminator guy, it just didn't work anymore as a show. For me anyway.

        And ::SPOILER:: I think even CSM could take a direct missile blast to the face. Even if it did visually show him being turned to cinders. Heh. Or he could be part of the flashbacks, or have a pre-recorded video/message for Mulder.

Carter often says no one is really dead in the X-Files, but he has been more specific and gone so far as to say that if you don't see someone's dead body, they probably aren't. Given all we ever see in that episode is the Gunmen admitting defeat, and then cut to closed graves... Well let me just say I never cried any tears for them, because I think there is a deeper plot at work.

    • NenDaiKi, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3Chris Carter has already confirmed (albeit indirectly) that someone we are supposed to think is dead isn't, going by his same old saying that "No one is ever really dead in the X-Files".

      It is in no way impossible at this point. He could have had a clone made for all we know. But it is just as likely that it could be X, Deep Throat, Krycek or even Samantha.

      Actually, since Krycek or CSM are so predictable, I'm gonna back Samantha. I remember being slightly confused by the supposed "end" of her story and after revisting the facts I found there weren't really any facts, and Mulder seemed to just accept that Walk Ins had taken her and she was lost forever.

      If you don't know, "Walk Ins" refer to a spirit entering a body where a suffering spirit resides to free them from the pain, and part of the belief is that eventually they can leave and the original spirit return to the foreground (IE they never really left, but were sort of comatose, hence why the theoretical living Samantha wouldn't pursue Mulder). I think of the episode and strongly question the intentions behind it, thinking it may have just been a way to end his obsession without necessarily dooming her to death.

    I'd say that panel reveals more than the actual movie itself may. They all but confirm that there will be at least one more movie and that someone we think is dead isn't.

    • NenDaiKi, on 02/27/2008, -0/+1That's a thought always in the back of any fan of anything's mind. Everyone wants to see their memories brought back to life, but we are all generally aware of these being pipe dreams.

      But I would say X Files is one of the few cases where that thought is remotely plausible. The dedicate the major 4 have to this series is such that I really question whether they'd be able to turn it down if Carter had a good idea for the resurrection of the series. But it still seems very unlikely as I would imagine the next movie will be the ultimate end to everything ever set up and the theoretical series would take place in a very different world.

    If 9 seasons and a movie didn't convince you alien technology was real, seeing Gillian Anderson look 100x more beautiful than she ever even did during the entire series run will be the end of your skepticism. Can anyone say ALIEN HYBRID?

    • NenDaiKi, on 02/27/2008, -0/+2I can understand your sentiment, but personally I think I would have been a lot more pumped if A. I had been there to see it in discernable quality. B. The audience had saved all it's freaking out for the VERY END of the trailer, and C. The end of the trailer had not been such an abrupt ***** tease. If I am seeing it and hearing what I can right, it appears that the faint glimmer of the X-Files logo started to appear and was abruptly extinguished, leaving us without the oh so important 6 note ender. I have to assume they left it off because they didn't want to have to show an "unofficial" logo given they have no real title or subtitle yet.

      But when this or whatever variation of it goes online, I expect them to do it right, and it is highly unlikely they won't. I don't think I'm alone when I say I NEED that 6 noter for it not to be one big blue ballin.

      I can forgive this article being repeated on Digg more easily than I can the so called fans who needed this for them to realize the new movie was coming July 25th anyway. I just can't imagine a fan of anything not knowing exactly when anything regarding it is happening.

    Rather than the show aging badly as I feared it might, I've actually been enjoying it more this time around. There's a lot of things I didn't catch watching week-to-week that I'm discovering for the first time and I find that I appreciate the series now more than ever especially with the glut of crap programming on TV.

      • ravenpen, on 02/27/2008, -0/+1I agree that the special effects from season one do come off as dated, but I thought the actual stories behind the episodes were mostly well done, if a bit shakey as the series was still trying to find its footing.

        I think that by season two the effects were actually pretty good, flukeman episode comes to mind, and stayed that way until around season seven or eight when all the physical effects started being replaced by increasingly garish CGI.

        It’s unfortunate that both the stories and visuals started to tank with the last couple seasons, though both eight and nine do have some gems. If ever there was an argument for old school effects vs. CGI, that show was definitely it.

We never see a body so we have to assume they actually died in that sealed room and that their bodies were actually in those closed caskets. In the X-Files world you'd be a fool to just believe what the magic screen implies is the truth.

  • mbthompson, on 02/27/2008, -5/+2I know I'm going to get buried up to my eyeballs but I was never a big fan of X-Files at all, well except for the Lone Gunmen, they were cool. Kind of makes a sequel (different from SQL, thought I should mention that) pretty anti-climactic.
