AJAX based ad-free CD-cover search engine
albumart.org — This is the absolute best CD cover search engine I've seen so far. Beats FindMyCover and all the others hands down. No ads, beautiful design, AJAX-based and fast. So, forget the other sites and bookmark this beauty.

Uh- like this:
http://tpemble.urfbownd.net/itunes/itunes-art-style.php - TopBanana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0AJAX/Apple/Web2.0 = DIGG!
- technstuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Already dugg?
- thejokell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It never found anything I searched for and it gave me no feedback other than "Please hold tight, performing search..."
- josman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The ">>" button at the bottom doesn't work for me :(
I'm supposing that means show more results... - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Slow now!
- DrWho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Type the name of a CD/DVD or artist in the searchfield below and Albumart.org will find hundreds of covers within seconds!
As in more than 60 Seconds right? 90? 120? more seconds...??? - mykoleary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Make that text:
"Type the name of a CD/DVD or artist in the searchfield below and Albumart.org will find covers within hundreds of seconds!" - longwang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...still waiting for my search results. Nice concept. Not sure about the execution. I hate it when there is no progress indicator.
- solusdotipse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ssssssllllooowwwww! And sometimes completly unresponsive.
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1take THAT, webserver!
- skeeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It worked pretty quick for me before it got dugg. Looked like the search query was the first thing to slow down and now the whole site is down. I agree, there should be a progress indicator or something. Wouldn't also mind seeing results laid out in rows of thumbnails. That way you can just enlarge the ones you want. Nonetheless, the site has potential.
- rjtrumbley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like the site is down....
- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RIP
- mesostinky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great webhosting.
- macslut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All of these sites are lame.
What's needed are more tools that automatically *add* the art. And by "automatic", what I mean is that you set the app up, click start, and let your Mac/PC run for as many days as it takes while you go away. Yould should be able to stop and restart it, but the point is that when you have an iTunes library in the tens of thousands, the idea of doing each one individually isn't very compelling regardless of how good the site is.
Think PearLyrics (the app), but for cover art. - DaMoB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg = Ajaxorizers
- Filoviridae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digged to the grave.
- mykoleary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0macslut, try fetchart for the mac. It IS a bit interactive in that you get the chance to chhose the art, but it let's you hit multiple songs at once. You select them in iTunes and then choose FetchArt from an AppleScript menu. Use iEatBrainz (musibrainz.org) first to clean up your ID3 tags using acoutic fingerprints. I went from 1500 f'd up files to about 200 in a couple hours. Nice ID3 tags, album art added. Sweet! My last ripping program (well before iTunes existed) sucked something serious.
- Toecutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1title says "AJAX-based and fast"
should be AJAX-based and unscalable - tomhung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i should just wget cdcovers.cc
digg if i can get it to return the search - slowness! - Toecutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uses amazon search.
goto amazon.com select popular music in the search dropdown then type band name in search box.
I wonder how long till amazon bans thier script ip from the tons of calls to their site. - bentwookiee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So how is it better than just going to Amazon directly?
- weebs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0repost?
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe later it will be nice to visit. totally dugg for now.
cdcovers.cc sucks! it has tons of artwork, but the worst web interface ever. - EddieW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats crap, crap covers, for dvds and cds, cdcovers.cc is by far better!
- borkov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares about cd covers?
Yay, pretty pictures for my burned cd's. - isewise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0dupe!
http://digg.com/technology/Albumart.org:_amazingly_simple_CD-cover_search - fastfood15, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Who the ***** cares about CD covers!?!?!?!? Why do storys about these search site keep on making it to the front page?!?!
- mattb19us, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares about cd covers???
Well obviously you don't have a video iPod or even a photo iPod for that matter. With something like this all you have to do is select your album in iTunes and drag the cover art from here onto it. Boom, just like that you have the art on your pod. Now if you don't like stories like this, then don't open them, don't digg them, and don't write stupid pointless ***** comments about them. *****. - jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't even work. Coll idea though. I'll come back sometime.
- GeorgeB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Do people who say "no digg" really think anyone reading the post cares if they particularly dugg the post?
I mean seriously, not joking.
http://www.onlyriddles.com - xmats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Site works again now.. still a bit slow, but works. Great service!
- illegal_op, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0GREAT! better than the cdcovers.cc site

http://www.southbeachcasa.com - aspirinetu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0low res --> no digg
- shark72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The journalspace version uses a better AJAX implementation (real-time searching) and is faster:
www.journalspace.com/fancysearch/ - bmw@, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares about covers? See Coverflow ... http://www.steelskies.com/coverflow/HomePage.html
- electic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.cdcovers.cc
Problem solved, they have the full covers ^^^^^. No digg for htis site. - andrew_m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's low res, and only the front, I like having the whole insert for my DVDs, so no digg. I'll stick with cdcovers.cc
- TheJosher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0-1 for all the commentors/comments that link their crap site in each comment. The funny thing is, 99% of the time the posts are crap "I agree" or "dugg" posts anyway.
Josh - donte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe there's a wonderful addage to describe the use of AJAX in this application: "when you have a hammer... everything looks like a nail". Eager to use the AJAX hammer, this site pounded the heck out of a poor, defenseless L-bracket.
Metaphors aside, AJAX is a wonderful tool... but the hype-machiine is causing this to sadly be used in places where it doesn't belong. Using technology for technology's sake is a bad thing. I know... we can smell our own ;) - miaow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doesnt work for me in Opera.
works in IE. - spicytuna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree completely with donte. There is absolutely no point for this website to be AJAX.
- curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yep dupe, but everyone ignores it!
- sophiaperennis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How this website compare to www.coverdude.com, anyone? The images seem pretty accurate after some tries.
