- farTart, on 10/11/2008, -1/+1Um, Finck is on tour in South America with Nine Inch Nails right now. I think he should be listed as a former member - unless you know different?
- counterplex, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1So really this is the latest album by Axl Rose and not Guns N' Roses. Perhaps the band should just be called "Roses N' Some". I'd love to see the old band back together but that's not going to happen so I'll just use the illusions I already have and call it a day. I'll sample some of Rose's new music but I don't have much hope unfortunately :-/
- financedude2, on 10/11/2008, -2/+0No, it's a shame too. Buckethead is ridiculous. Robin Finck is terrible.

From: New York Post
March 26, 2008 -- TIRED of a world in which Americans idolize wannabe singers, and where musicals about high school students pass as rock 'n' roll, Dr Pepper is begging Axl Rose to finally release this year his 17-years-in-the-making album, "Chinese Democracy." The soft drink company's incentive to Axl, the frontman of Guns N' Roses? If he ships the album in 2008, everyone in America - except estranged guitarists Slash and Buckethead - will receive a free can of Dr Pepper. "It took a little patience for us to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, so we completely understand and empathize with Axl's question for the perfect album," said a company spokesperson. Dr Pepper is asking fans to lobby Axl to drop the album already.

- AmidTheSnow, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1That clause is probably supposed to be similar to clauses where employees of a company can't enter some contest put on by that company.
- m0n0kr0m3, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I went back and ACTUALLY READ THE ARTICLE, and it doesn't say anything about them not getting any. Shame on me for not reading first :P
- indiefilm, on 10/11/2008, -0/+25Axl is on record saying Buckethead can have his with no hard feelings.
- Syphon8, on 10/11/2008, -0/+29The best two musicians to ever have been in the band are the only ones who don't get Dr. Pepper. the irony is delicious.

- bishonen, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3Yes, please. "Drop" the album. Drop it off of a 20 story building on to Axl's head. Perhaps doing so will knock some sense in to him to quit doing stupid stuff like this for YEARS on end.
I thought recently when the end of the world really is. My answer was when Duke Nukem Forever and Chinese Democracy are both released. Worse yet when its on the same day...
- m0n0kr0m3, on 10/11/2008, -2/+11That's garbage that Slash and Buckethead don't get any. w/e though
- jf2683, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9Seriously, they talked about this Chinese Democracy for like 10 years, I just downloaded some of the songs, different than the classic Guns N Roses.
- Markpdotcom, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3I dunno, its still very G'n'R... but with a slight twist.
Better is the stand out track so far. Bit of a clichéd start, but once you're in to the main song its good! Its no Mr Brownstone, but yeah, its ok :)- alarmist, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2ya i love Better
- metaliq, on 10/11/2008, -4/+3The album title is ***** stupid though.

- MommaLu, on 10/11/2008, -1/+59The only problem with a new Gun "N" Roses album is that Axl is the only original member in the band. He made his band mates sign over the band name to him.
- terracottapai, on 10/11/2008, -1/+22I've been saying that forever.
I'm glad this is finally coming out so I can stop explaining to people why they shouldn't give a flying ***** about this.
It's an Axl solo release.

Neither does anybody else. - galahan, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3Um, actually, GnR had a few songs with *wicked* piano solos, though Axl usually played those.
- terracottapai, on 10/11/2008, -0/+10Yeah, remember that wicked keyboard solo on that one GnR song?
- skyshock1, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Slash, Izzy, Dizzy, Duff, and Steven Adler. THAT is Guns N Roses. Axel's voice is shot these days (yes, I've heard many many leaks from Chinese Democracy). No sense in even calling this line up "Guns and Roses".
- MadHarvey, on 10/11/2008, -0/+4I could do without Steven Adler actually. Matt is a much better drummer, and more likely to be conscious on stage.
- terracottapai, on 10/11/2008, -1/+22I've been saying that forever.

- indiefilm, on 10/11/2008, -3/+8The one sign of hope is Izzy Stradlin joined them on stage a couple times in 2006.
Technically the "original" members where Axl Rose (vocals), Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), Tracii Guns(lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums).
But yes, I do know what everyone means.- steal_apps01, on 10/11/2008, -0/+6Yeah Indie, the Guns N' Roses name comes from the fact that the band was created out of people from two bands. L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose. Most people think of GN'R as William 'Axl' Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler, with, of course, Matt Sorum replacing drummer, Steven Adler because of substance abuse. Dizzy Reed was later brought on to play keyboards in the 'Use Your Illusion' era. Finally, Gilby Clarke replaced Izzy Stradlin after quitting at the height of the 'Use Your Illusion' tour.
Personally, from what I have read of the history of the band, and the books written about GN'R, I have a hard time believing GN'R will ever return to the classic 'Appetite for Destruction' lineup. We have Velvet Revolver with Slash, Duff and Matt Sorum. Loaded is Duff's side project. Izzy, Gilby, and Matt have solo albums. Slash has Slash's Snakepit. Lastly, Axl has 'the new' GN'R with Bumblefoot and a rotating cast, it's all about Axl, as much as I like Axl, what he calls GN'R is more a solo, vanity project then anything else. My point is all the original members of GN'R are not sitting on their hands waiting for a reunion, they're busy with there bands and careers and they are still making amazing music.
I for one will buy the album, even if it sucks, it's part of music history whether we like it or not.- MadHarvey, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2Actually, they were very close to reforming on at least two different occasions recently (within the last 7 years). The contracts were written up and everything.
- Niubai, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3For me, classic Guns is Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven Adler (Appetite for Destruction lineup). However, you can replace Steven Adler with Matt Sorum without major problems ...

- chungmaster, on 10/11/2008, -0/+12actually izzy was what made the band. He had to write all the songs and do all the work while everyone else was too busy shooting up heroin. - mgrest, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2Yep, fully agree. Izzy is the only member of that band to have any long lasting credibility.
Check this out for an example:

I saw Izzy on his first post GNR tour in London in 1992 at a tiny club called the Mean Fiddler; a proper gig - so much better than the bloated stadium rock of GNR.

- userperson, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Axl has been trying to time the release with a shift in influence in Chinese Gov't,
but they're holding tight onto power and think an album promotion is not a good reason to alter China's Gov't.
That's why it's taking so long.
However, the Chinese gov't is showing signs of weakening.
Dealing with Axl for so many years, makes having the massive political power not so worthwhile.

- odecom5, on 10/11/2008, -3/+6I've been following new guns for a few years now, and i'm pretty excited about it. As Axl Rose himself said:
Some people will say it doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses. But there will at least be a few songs on their you'll like.
It's an extremely varied album, from the 9 leaks that have been thrust online over the past couple years. It has a lot of very experimental qualities to it. It's a progression. Just like the Beatles.. you think all the british invasion fans of the 60s liked all the material that came off the White album? Hell no.- DaveMN, on 10/11/2008, -2/+8Whoa- Let's nip the Beatles comparisons in the bud right now.
