        And I also remember seeing a documentary about gay culture around the world, and you'd be surprised at the sizeable population of gays in the Caribbean islands.

    I personally have no problem with gay people, however, just because someone finds it disgusting and is ignorant enough to be THAT outspoken about it... doesn't mean they're suddenly gay themselves.

    It's no different than racism or any other discrimination. Just because you hate Jews doesn't mean you question your own religion, or if you hate on someone's race doesn't make you question your own race.

    It seems like one of those poor schoolyard comebacks. "Oh, you hate gay people. That's probably because you're gay yourself!" - doesn't even make sense.
    • wentwhere, on 05/12/2008, -4/+5Technically being gay is different in that it's increasingly evident that it's a genetic thing; you can be born gay, whereas you cannot be born Jewish or Christian. And to question whether or not you are a race is retarded, so it doesn't apply at all.

      I would argue that some people who are unsure of their faith become radical in that faith to make up for the doubt they feel. I've seen examples of this personally.

      You can't make a blanket statement like, "Everyone who says they hate gay people is actually gay," but you also can't say that NOBODY is just using the hate as a defense mechanism. This WHOLE ARTICLE is a testament to that, not to mention other cases like politicians and clergymen who publicly oppose homosexuality and then turn out to be gay themselves.

What about these Republicans that are so anti-gay and then a scandal breaks where they have been with male escorts....If a guy simply does not like homosexual behavior, that is one thing, but the more he goes on and on about hating it, that is when I start to wonder about him.

        I can understandn those who simply are uncomfortable with homosexuals. After all, that's not what they're into. I know I'm an accepting person, but I wouldn't go to a gay bar either. Does that mean I'm a homophobe? No, it means I want to go to a bar with people who share my interests.

        Now on the other hand, the Fred Phelps and Bill Oreilly's of the world, the ones who spend their days talking on and on about how vile gays are, those people are the ones you start to wonder about.
