Whoever posted this is a *****. - notque, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1It's so right. RNC Welcoming Committee!
http://www.nornc.org/
On September 1-4 of 2008, the Republican Party is coming to Minnesota to celebrate their latest conquests in global domination and exploitation. We of the RNC Welcoming Committee want to make sure that this time the fear-mongers will be met with their own biggest fear: people mobilized, organized, and taking the future back into their own hands.
For those of you who abhor the rapid growth of racist militarized borders across stolen lands, the raids and deportations, destruction and commodification of our shared and living earth, police brutality and prison industry, fear propaganda and subjugation, exploitation and robbery of peoples worldwide, and all forms of injustice and oppression - we ask you to be prepared for 2008. This will require new alliances, strong networks, the awakening of those who’ve given up, as well as the mobilization of those who’ve never before taken action. Let’s use this opportunity to make the changes we thirst for manifest and take root before us, making the Republicans/Democrats (whatever you want to call them) obsolete.
Labor Day weekend of 2007, anarchists and anti-authoritarians from across the country gathered in the Twin Cities to develop goals and plans for the RNC 2008.
- grandinferno, on 08/06/2008, -2/+13What is WRONG is people's inability to CLICK LINKS and READ.
- DreKor, on 08/05/2008, -0/+133Less ironic: Rage Against The Machine to play in same city as RNC.
Lame-ass attention-whoring headline.- vbullinger, on 08/05/2008, -3/+14Different city. St. Paul vs. Minneapolis.
- DreKor, on 08/05/2008, -11/+9The Twin Cities. Really, it's the same place.
- vbullinger, on 08/05/2008, -1/+19I live in the Twin Cities. I disagree with you.
- stagmire, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Fewer hmoobs in Minneapolis.
- fadetoone, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9Good call, now bury it as inaccurate.
- ericthegreat, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10Exactly, digging down as inaccurate
- notque, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4Rage is a part of the RNC welcoming committee. It's intentional, and it's a real story you jackasses.

- xenoc1de, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2The point is, the title leads you to think that RATM is playing for the RNC, which would make it ironic. This is pretty far from what it implies.

- stellamaris, on 08/05/2008, -1/+73Inaccurate. They will be playing across the river from the RNC. Buried.
- yellowcakewalk, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7Excellent. We protesters will check it out!
- neognostic, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Are you going to update your blog daily from the protests at the RNC?
- yellowcakewalk, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Well there's protesting and there's posting of photos and blogging. I'll do my best. It may not be daily, but there will be plenty of video and sound.
We had a pretty good protest at the White House on Saturday, a protest organized by stopwaroniran.org. Photos and audio coming up on yellowcakewalk.net soon. There was a fair amount of press coverage.
- macweirdo42, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3Damnit, I'm on the wrong side of the river.
- notque, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1No, it isn't inaccurate. They are part of the Anarchist RNC Welcoming Committee, and good for them.
Plan your trip now!

RTFA next time subby:
Band will play Minneapolis, while Republican gathering happens across the river in St. Paul, Minnesota. - decadre, on 08/05/2008, -5/+20De la Rocha ... "Now, we know Brother Obama. ... But I tell you what, if he comes to power come November and he doesn't start pulling troops out of Afghanistan, I know a lot of people who are gonna stand up and burn down every office of every Senate."
Should we alert the Washington DC Fire Department now, or later?- MoralThreat, on 08/06/2008, -5/+3Nothing like trying to stop violence with the threat of more violence.
- Arghblarg, on 08/06/2008, -1/+0Seems governments don't listen to anything else though.. citizens with pitchforks at the gates are, unfortunately, a necessary last resort.
- rald84, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7iraq. troops out of iraq.
- Typhoon2009, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4You'd think that with his extremely pissed off stance towards the US government, Rocha would be even more revered on Digg than Trent Reznor.
- MoralThreat, on 08/06/2008, -5/+3Nothing like trying to stop violence with the threat of more violence.
- vbullinger, on 08/05/2008, -4/+21Terribly inaccurate. They're playing at the Target Center.
The Ron Paul Rally for the Republic will be playing at the Target Center.
There's your connection.
They are not protesting Republicans. I'm pretty sure this has some kind of connection to Ron Paul or the Rally for the Republic or the Campaign for Liberty or Libertarianism, etc.- JeffH, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Yes...yes they are protesting Republicans. Or at least in a sense.
RATM did the same thing in 2000 to the Democratic National Convention. They are neither Democrats nor Republicans (though I don't know if De La Rocha is considered an anarchist or defines himself as one).- mlvassallo, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Yeah... they are musicians.
- JeffH, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Yes...yes they are protesting Republicans. Or at least in a sense.
- kemp34, on 08/05/2008, -1/+23Digg party foul. Totally false headline.
I notice VH1's headline is false as well.
These folks are playing at the RALLY FOR THE REPUBLIC. - gegroff, on 08/05/2008, -2/+17Buried for being inaccurate and lame.
- Obermeister, on 08/05/2008, -2/+21Buried, you pathetic attention whore.
- scheibs14, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6I live about two miles from the Target Center and I'm pretty stoked to be going (hopefully I can get good tix). Which is opposed to me living about 15 miles from the Xcel Center where the RNC is. Buried for being horribly inaccurate
- BobTheChainsaw, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9Buried for inaccuracies.
- Mr.Gone, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5Good lord. What a stupid headline. Minneapolis and St.Paul are the Twin Cities, not the Conjoined Twin Cities. Things can happen at the same time and not be related. F***ing idiots.

http://www.nornc.org/ - gaqua, on 08/06/2008, -2/+8I think the real news here is that Rage Against the Machine still exists.
- ThinkOutTheBox, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8Buried because if you've ever listened to Rage Against the Machine you would know they would never support or endorse the RNC or DNC.
- T3hJ3hu, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9bury that *****
Rage always does this, by the way. - tsf5000, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8OMG RATM IS PLAYING ON THE SAME PLANET AS THE RNC!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buried as inaccurate. - yikiad, on 08/06/2008, -1/+4"Band will play Minneapolis, while GOP gathering happens across the river in St. Paul, Minnesota."
buried for yet another untrue sensationalist headline.... - soot, on 08/06/2008, -3/+2It would have been cooler if they picked an outdoor venue close to the Xcel to play, instead of the Target Center.
- Jektal, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2More interesting bit from the article:
"In addition to the Rage show, the band's guitarist, Tom Morello, will hook up with outspoken singer/songwriter and fellow social activist Steve Earle..."
Now -that- is a show- soot, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Hell yeah, I'll be there.
- moraldebate, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Yes it's not technically true but I think worst of all it's not even technically ironic. It seems like a pretty normal thing for a big political act to play party conventions. They actually already did this in 2000 for the Dem one.
- Nosferotu, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Irony that a band about tearing down the establishment would play at the Republican National Convention, the convention for people who are turning our country into a fascist state?
That seems pretty ironic to me. If it were true, of course. - moraldebate, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1How can it be ironic for a protest band to play at a protest?
Remember kids, Rage Against The Machine hates democrats too.
- Nosferotu, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Irony that a band about tearing down the establishment would play at the Republican National Convention, the convention for people who are turning our country into a fascist state?
- l0k0, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4They did the exact same thing for the DNC a few years back. Watch their music video Testify, they have always protested the two party system. The fact you think they support the GOP is laughable.

- UltramegaOK, on 08/06/2008, -3/+2Rage against the machine is so bad ass in their Che Guevara shirts. They're idiot millionaires who "hate" capitalism.
***** the norm..... buy our album
Rage against the machine.......even though we're signed to Sony..........
Don't get me started on Tom Morello and his "Arm the homeless" guitar. I hate the scribble and stickers on his guitars... all the kids think it's so badass.....
He's one of the most overrated guitarists. He was ranked #26 in Rolling Stones "Best guitarists of all time". What a joke. He's good with effects boxes, that's about it. In Audioslave they recycled old RATM chords in new time and keys. They ranked Kim Thayil of Soundgarden at #100..... outrageous.........- urgeigh, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1You realize Tom Morello pretty much invented an entire genre of music right? Rap/Rock SUCKED and was basically non-existent prior to Rage. Secondly, I don't think a list that a few idiots at Rolling Stone made is "outrageous" nor should you let it get to you, it's just some tool's opinion. And third, you seem to care and know an awful lot about a band that you seem to not like. Lay off the TMZ crack pipe. Saying that Tom Morello is "good with effect boxes" shows utter ignorance and I highly doubt you even play the guitar. He uses a lot more than just boxes. Listen to the solo for "take the power back", Tom can play, he just doesn't flaunt it because that does not fit their style of music. What kind of person is bothered by what a guy does to his guitar? Seriously? You have problems... omg he scribbled on his guitar wahhhhhhh. Get a life.
- snoop396, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2it's a misleading headline, they're playing NEAR the RNC

"Rage Against The Machine To Rock Republican National Convention" - ausfahrt, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1If its so inaccurate then can we bury it please. I've yet to see something fall from the front page when it is blatantly false.
