- ideaofprogress, on 06/18/2008, -13/+29I was at that show-- he didn't show up late, the show was delayed because of Pearl Jam and then a bunch of technical problems with a monitor on his set. As soon as his set was fixed, he was onstage within minutes.
The audience did not repeatedly chant Kanye Sucks. They did not throw garbage (they did throw glowsticks, but they throw those at everyone). But the set did start just before dawn, and most of the crowd had left by that point (like 4:30am). But he didn't half ass it, he came out and gave it 100%, which is amazing considering that the crowd had grown hostile by that point.
I don't blame him, just his stupid set that wouldn't work.- staticneuron, on 06/18/2008, -4/+12Thank you. I was really starting to wonder wether it was the truth or not. It is in fashion to hate on Kanye for some reason. Most of the reason are either ignorant or idiotic. I wonder what happened to the sane people that used to be on digg.
- matthafling, on 06/18/2008, -5/+8***** - i was there too. a couple things happened - Kanye refused to take the stage until Phil Lesh was done. He even asked Superfly to make Phil Lesh end his set 30 minutes early. Also - Kanye's stage hands were running around like a bunch of lost puppy dogs. I saw them work on the same sections of the stage multiple times. they just kept redoing the work. Also - Kanye made his crew go back and re-wax the entire floor of the stage so we could slide across the set easier. This took an extra 40 minutes.
I hear quite a few boos and ***** kanye chants - but the most of them took place on Sunday. All I've got to say is if that perfomance is 100% the best Kanye can do - than that is pretty sad because there were 150 other bands there that weekend making alot less money than him and put on much better concerts and managed to show the bonnaroo fans some respect - something Kanye couldn't manage to do. next time I'll go to Sigur Ros.
My Morning Jacket & Gogol Bordello were 1000000% better than Kanye.- ideaofprogress, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6If you were there, you would have seen that it took them ages to assemble the set, and then the monitor in the center of the stage, which was an essential setpiece, kept malfunctioning when they tested it.
The stagehands were constantly working on the set-- they weren't stalling. I didn't see them rewax the floor, but if they did, that order most certainly came from the set manager, who would of had them do that after Pearl Jam scuffed it up (not blaming them or anything, that kind of thing is unavoidable).
There was very little overlap between the Kanye fans and the Phil Lesh fans. There is no basis to the rumor that he was waiting for Lesh's set to end, that's just rumors. At 2:45, when Kanye was supposed to start, the place was full of people. And if he moved the show to the nighttime because of the light show, why would he stall until dawn, making the show worthless? You can call him whatever you want, but the man isn't stupid.
There were definitely boos, especially when the monitors kept indicating that the show would later and later-- there's no denying that. All of the "***** Kanye" stuff happened on Sunday.
And yes, Gogol Bordello and Sigur Ros put on an amazing show. - mikelieman, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2I judge Kayne by this.
PROFESSIONALS start on time.
If he was scheduled to hit the stage at 2:45, and it's 3:00 and the lights haven't gone down, they're ***** amateurs.
If you have a monitor acting flakey, and it's NEEDED for the show, you SWAP IT in 5 minutes with a spare.... If you don't have spares for NEEDED equipment -- Yup... ***** amateurs...
No way this was his first Rodeo...
- ideaofprogress, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6If you were there, you would have seen that it took them ages to assemble the set, and then the monitor in the center of the stage, which was an essential setpiece, kept malfunctioning when they tested it.

Same here... I enjoy some of his stuff but at some point his larger than life persona just leaves this bad taste in my mouth that his music cannot completely get rid of. Not only that but if you look at the man he portrays himself to be outside of his music it does not match is image he paints of himself musically through his lyrics. Like when he has lyrics that paints himself as a humble man etc. Sounds more like "do as I say not as I do" type of attitude.

Bonnaroo isn't just about the music. I'm guessing you haven't been there. - mikelieman, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Bonnaroo is *not* the Festival Scene.
The current incarnation of the Festival Scene can be traced back to the aftermath of Jerry Garcia's death, and the end of Dead Tour.
Terrapin Presents and Relix for East Coast Examples were rocking in 96... Bonnaroo is a latecomer -- and a commercial sell-out, IIRC owned by Clear Channel..
I picked 2002 for the Phil and Friends ( Haynes, Molo, Herring and Barracco ) at GOTV, which I consider the peak of the genre.

- quomen, on 06/18/2008, -6/+15God I'm on Digg, and I know most Diggers hate Hip Hop (or anything but Nine Inch Nails?), but hear me out. This isn't only his fault. The Pearl Jam crew ran late and took a long time clearing their stage. Also, his crew took a while to set up his Glow in the Dark stage. It's not his fault! Anybody who has been to the Glow in the Dark tour knows that it is the best produced concert tour this year. Kanye West is extremely talented. Cocky? Yes. But he is a huge driving factor of the good hip hop that exists today. (NO SOLJAH BOY *****). Call his a douchebag. Ok fine. Don't say he's not talented because YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LIKE HIS MUSIC IF YOU DONT LIKE HIP HOP. You see people calling his music *****. Fine, but you don't listen to hip hop. You can continue to listen to Trent Reznor, I don't think his music is great but that's because it's my opinion and I dont listen to that music. Whatever every time hip hop is represented on Digg it's always negative. Any true hip hop fan can tell you that there's more to it than money drugs and hos. Rant Over.
- Kronk42583, on 06/18/2008, -5/+6wait..... kanye doesnt talk about hos and money??? have you heard gold digger, probably his biggest hit to date??? yah check again moron. kanye sucks and his music run of the mill hip hop with lyrics that a foul mouthed 3rd grader could write. besides, you can't blame pearl jam, because they are ***** awesome. and they are playing hartford CT next friday, and i will be there.
- quomen, on 06/18/2008, -4/+6Have you actually listened to the lyrics of his song. It's brilliant. It's a criticism of those who marry for wealth and money. You obviously can't get past the title. Before making stupid judgments based on the song title, try listen to the song again ok? And you prove my point right. It's all about the music preference. They cause delays but you're making excuses because you like them. I'm not making excuses for kanye. It's ridiculous to make fans wait so long. However what my point is, don't discredit him as an artist.

- Cerebral, on 06/18/2008, -3/+3I'm with you quomen, people like Kronk have no clue what they are talking about and instead just spit rash generalizations about something they know nothing about. And while I say that yes Gold Digger was probably his most "popular" work, many in the "hip-hop" scene (and not top 20 radio stations) probably prefer "Jesus Walks" or "Through the Wire" which were both big songs.
- pritchypritch, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5You have to admit Golddigger is presented in a way that smart people would get the real message and pat themselves on the back and people who want bitches 'n' cash would also be happy, without knowing they missed anything. I'd say he's still playing to those people while being able to claim the message is the opposite...kind of like Marilyn Manson.
- mbgalvin, on 06/18/2008, -2/+2I went to this show at MSG. It was mad boring. And I love hip-hop.

- stephenturney, on 06/18/2008, -1/+1Dude, I was at the show waiting. Everything was set up by 3:15. There was no reason for him to wait. The only reason he didn't come on til later is because he's a little cocky piece of ***** who didn't want anybody else playing when he was. He could've had an awesome show but instead all his fans left and his "awesome light show" wasn't so great when the sun was already up.

- greenamp, on 06/19/2008, -0/+5No, Pearl Jam played an hour over because Kanye was ***** late and the set producers asked them to keep playing.
Don't even ***** try to say it was all b/c of Pearl Jam playing. They are some of the most respectful, standup guys ever and would never play over into another musician's time.
- shagg187, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2In Kanye's defense, the LSD was so strong that he mixed his 2s with 4s.
- GratefulGroover, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1why the ***** was kanye west at bannaroo anyway?
- DeadSkinMask, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2Kanye WAS a complete douchebag. He made the crowd wait for 2 hours before he took the stage at 4:45, and then only played a 45 min set! He was serenaded with Boo's & "Kanye Sucks" chants.
The problem was, he apparently didn't want to go on until Phil Lesh was finished his set on one of the other stages, and Lesh was scheduled until 4:15. Kanye HAD to be the big show. No one was permitted to play while he was gracing the stage.
I also heard chatter around the camp that his "entourage" started ***** with all the guys in Pearl Jam.
The next day many musicians slammed him verbally during their sets, and Robert Randolph was especially blunt, saying many times that he sucks, and it was crap that we had to take his B.S. Then more "Kanye Sucks" chants erupted. It seemed to be the theme of the festival for Sunday & Monday.
I was never a fan of his music to begin with, but now I have ZERO respect for this chump.

- EatingPie, on 06/18/2008, -41/+123The two times I saw Guns 'N' Roses they were excessively late. The first time, they scheduled a concert to start at 6pm -- rush hour -- in an insanely crowded part of Orange County. I've never seen a concert start at that time, and I'm convinced they did it to cause greater traffic. Ha Ha. Joke was on us -- who paid to see them. They showed at 8:30pm, off a helicopter.
I swore to never see them again, but was given a ticket to a San Diego show. They showed up 4 hours after their opening band, Soundgarden, finished, 7pm show and they entered around 1am. Axl Rose came on stage with a Charles Manson shirt on, and later whined about giving their ex-drummer "more than a million bucks" of his own personal money. Wow.
After releasing the most successful album of all time (at that time), they crashed and burned. Treating their fans like garbage, all the while whining about massive amounts of money... I laugh every time I hear any of the ex-band members mentioned.

That's what I would have done. - harajukukei, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1i saw GNR in boston and they delayed until after midnight, came on and rocked, then the city had to keep trains running until 3. First time, maybe only time they ever had to run trains late (usually they stop between 12:30 and 1am) and it's all because Axl likes to take his gay ass time.
- krasht, on 06/18/2008, -2/+1GnR are known for their late/delayed starts. It's one of their things. I wouldn't get worked up about it. I'd just expect it.
- dramey, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1I saw GnR in Greensboro NC. There was a city ordnance that said no playing after 1am period. The band hit the stage about 5 minutes til, and the audience was pissed thinking that they were going to get cut off after one song (it had happened to other bands in the past). Fortunately there had been a riot at one of their shows a week or two earlier and the city chickened out. They played until 4am. I had to work the next day, ug.

Fans at Bonnaroo yesterday (June 15) were so angry at Kanye West for his delayed performance that they scrawled their anger in spraypaint on the portaloos at the site, angrily chanted his name and pelted glowsticks at the stage during the two-hour delay.
West was due to perform at 2.45am yesterday morning but did not emerge on stage until 4.25am.
Messages on the screens told the crowd the show would be delayed until 3.15am and then delayed again until 3.30am, reports the Associated Press.
The crowd repeatedly chanted "Kanye sucks!" during the delay, and today a section of portaloos onsite were spraypainted with the words "***** Kanye".
The delay was apparently due to issues setting up the rapper's 'glow in the dark' stage set after a previous delay unloading Pearl Jam's stage. The band had also run over their allocated time by an hour.
However, even with the stage set-up apparently completed at 3.30am, West did not appear for almost another hour.
According to reports, the original schedule had him in an 8.15pm slot but he requested a late-night set.- Recuso, on 06/18/2008, -0/+15Yeah, no, that's actually the entire article, not "from" the article.
- Myonosken, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1What was the point? You think the NME is going to get taken down by a few thousand extra visitors or something?
Wait, if that delays their magazine delivery systems too...hmm...we may be on to something.
- thedogfatherx, on 06/18/2008, -28/+192Kayne West sucks. I don't see why people think he is that great.
Oh yeah, Bush hates black people.
~***** tool- yohnstoppable, on 06/18/2008, -6/+17People like him, because while he still sucks, he is lightyears ahead of the ***** ringtone rap you hear nowadays. It isn't that he is good. It is that everything else is so bad by comparison that people think he is good.
- stopbrorape, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3He used to be good but he's so pop now.
- zeromous, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1lightyears *behind* the ***** ringtone rap you hear nowadays.
There fixed that for you. The guy hasn't chewed up all the classic beats out there yet (not that there's anything wrong with that), but very few untouched samples remain. Don't kid yourself, the only thing Kanye is light years ahead of is his own ego....he tripped on it ages ago.
- Jaablaze, on 06/18/2008, -10/+3while Kanye does have a bit of an attitude, he FAR from sucks. Hands down, best lyricist out for the past few years, closely followed by Lupe. I bet your a Lil Wayne fan.
- Klak, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5listen to some real hip hop. common, talib kwali, mos def, pharoahe monch. kanye WISHES he was that good lyricaly. kanye=awesome producer, terrible rapper.
- AnOMNOMymous, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1**mediocre producer, terrible rapper.
- CJDarkhaven, on 06/18/2008, -0/+0For real Klak, you speak the truth. As for lyricist now, it's not like the Wu Tang Clan up and STOPPED doing their thing. My opinion: Inspectah Deck is the best lyricist to ever touch a mic, period. For proof, listen to the openings of both "Wu Tang Clan - Triumph" and "Guillotine Swordz" feat. Raekwon, U God, and Inspectah Deck. Nothing MTV, BET or Fuse spits out can hope to compete against the real rap. Kanye and his ilk are like the glittery hair band backwash of the '90s before Nirvana stepped in and cleared house. We just need the rap avatar of Nirvana now to make it all right once again...
- Klak, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1wu tang 4eva haha. still love every one of ghostface's albums.

- wetdirtmud, on 06/18/2008, -5/+8He's a great musician. If you don't like his genre of music then it's pretty clear why you don't like him. I don't think a musicians personality should make someone believe they're more or less of an artist. If Clay Aiken went and donated $5,000,000 to a needy child fund, I still wouldn't think his music is good. If Kanye West is an ***** to his fans at a concert, I still think his tunes are enjoyable and for the most part well made.
- sfgeek, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6a "great musician" compared to whom? T-Pain?
I remember seeing a clip of him singing with Sting and the Police during Live Earth, as much as I hate Kanye, it was so insanely bad, his singing so incredibly poor, and his 'talent' so clearly lacking when compared to the Police that I almost pitied him.
It's not that Kanye is talented, it's that compared to people of his ilk, he just sucks a little bit less. He can't sing at ALL.- Gosunkugi, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5... but he's not a singer, he's a rapper (and really, a rapper whose biggest strength is his skill as a producer). That's like saying that Edward Norton is talentless because he can't do vaudeville.
- ryanere, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4he gets his fame from his producing abilities, not so much singing and/or rapping. i hate the guy with a passion but he is an incredible producer.
- quomen, on 06/18/2008, -1/+4God I hate ignorant diggers that digg these people down. If you dont like hip hop then buzz off. But Kanye has had a tremendous impact on the Hip Hop industry in a good way. He's produced for the best and many of his productions are excellent.
- sfgeek, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6a "great musician" compared to whom? T-Pain?
- merreborn, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1I'm not a fan of rap at all, but the lyrics to "Gold digger" are friggin' hilarious.

the herd is wack anyways and I dont take their music likings into consideration :)
his music should be consider POP remixed.
He's way too metro for his own good.
Is he trying to be like P Diddy? I dont even think p diddy is all that bad now
HAHA- Shakermaker, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2Buried for saying P Diddy isn't all that bad now.

WHERE IN THE HELL IN BONNAROO!!SOME WANNA BE GANGSTA'S THAT CANNOT RESPECT WHEN A LEGITIMATE RAPPER AND ARTIST IS HAVING AN IMPACT ON THE WORLD! How dare you boo someone who got the world to take Katrina seriously and is changing the face of hip hop into something that even Barack Obama can listen to! So your bratty asses had to wait! Did you ever consider that it might be due to technical difficulties! I want everyone one of you Buckaroo oh, I'm sorry Bonnaroo Bitches to come bring that ***** to the South Side of Chicago and watch Rev. Jeremiah Wright "god-damn" all you sons of bitches. Do not ***** with my Kanye or Bonnaroo will be *****. Whens the last time you heard of anything worth mentioning coming out of Buckeroo! ***** off, and be grateful. No one has even heard of your off the map city, state, or farm or whereever you are! But I will say this, I damn well doubt your town is producing any thing close to Kanye!!!! Why don't you stand up and contribute something to the world instead of breast feeding off of it. Maybe then we'd hear of your dull city!!- bjs3171, on 06/18/2008, -2/+50haha. that was classic.
that was a joke, right?- alabare, on 06/18/2008, -0/+36Not sure Kanye fans are playing with a full deck...so who knows.
- macbookpromat, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9I sure hope so.
- wfofbass, on 06/18/2008, -4/+44i like how he thinks people look at south side chicago with admiration and not fear. i'd rather people have not heard of where i live then be scared ***** to ever set foot there.
- roastnewt1, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5It's not as bad here as people say, parts of the West Side are definitely worse.
- Nickbc87, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Hey, I grew up on the West Side (Ogden and Pulaski), and I still have family there. It's slowly getting better.
- DeQuinceysDiet, on 06/18/2008, -8/+5Oh stop impugning the South Side...there are a half million white people who live there if that helps ease your pulse rate. Pansy.
- coheedcollapse, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4It's not as bad as everyone thinks, but it can still be scary. My friends used to live on the southside until someone mugged them then broke into their apartment the next day. As they were leaving, someone called from their window "that's what you get for moving here". Apparently racism works both ways.
I wouldn't fear for my life at every step, but I certainly wouldn't carry anything expensive past sundown. (or maybe ever).
This is coming from someone who goes into Gary pretty frequently. I think all of those types of places you just have to be smart about it.

Yeah he's really missing out on such classics as "Golddigger" and...I don't even think I can name another Kanye song. - GhostyBoy, on 06/18/2008, -0/+12"How dare you boo someone who got the world to take Katrina seriously and is changing the face of hip hop into something that even Barack Obama can listen to!"
This may be the greatest sentence ever written on this subject, ever.- DrLeePhD, on 06/18/2008, -2/+2I think classic hip hop/rap acts wouldn't want obama listening to their music.
- georgemason01, on 06/18/2008, -1/+3"How dare you boo someone who got the world to take Katrina seriously..."
I also commend Kanye on being the sole reason I realized Katrina was a big deal. - JCougar, on 06/18/2008, -0/+7Manchester is an hour south of Nashville, TN. It is Music City USA. There are names and history oozing from this area that have already had a larger impact on contemporary music than Kanye ever will.
- Trav3133, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5im not voting for obama because of that.
- BradMW, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9Kanye wrote that himself.

I don't know where the ***** Kanye west came from, and I don't care. - funwithfire, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Really shows what kind of people kanye's "music" attracts
- Th0rus, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1yes it does indeed.
- bjs3171, on 06/18/2008, -2/+50haha. that was classic.
- dteresh, on 06/18/2008, -1/+75Yeah, the whole Kanye thing was a serious *****, but to be honest, I don't think most of the people at Bonnaroo were that interested in seeing Kanye perform anyway. Personally, I just passed out after the Sigur Ros set and didn't even think about going to Kanye's 2:45 set.
The day after his performance was hilarious, however, with crowds walking out after concerts chanting "***** kanye" and the walls around Centeroo being decorated with "kanye sucks".- erossmu, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Yeah, Sigur Ros was ***** amazing. I wasn't even going to try and attempt to stay up for Kanye.
- nynexla, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4Im sure anything after Sigur Ros seems...Childish.
- acex23, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4I just dugg you up for even mentioning sigur ros.
- freakk123, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2I went up to my tent to take a nap before Sigur Ros and didn't wake up until the next morning :-(
But I'm sorta glad, cause I was planning on going to Kanye and instead got to miss his *****.
And it was funny to see Rogue Wave and Yonder Mountain String Band bash him the next day.- Erik1, on 06/19/2008, -1/+1So you pretty much slept through everything?
- freshyill, on 06/18/2008, -5/+122I headed back to the camp site after Pearl Jam got done (it was about 1:02 a.m., not 1:15 as some articles say), with no intention of waiting until the scheduled time to see Kanye. Some of the drug-addled kids from the tent next to us stayed up, and we talked to them in the morning. Basically, people were *pissed*. They said that about three songs into his set, there was barely anybody left in the audience.
OK, now on to the unsubstantiated rumors....
My sister knows somebody who had an artist's pass for Bonnaroo, meaning he was backstage. The word is that somebody gave Kanye a hit of acid, and he was freaking out about performing for a bunch of hippies.
I can't say whether that's true or not, but the story did at least come from somebody who was backstage.- stfucupcake, on 06/18/2008, -2/+61I was wondering about the missing 13 minutes. Glad you cleared that up.
- freshyill, on 06/18/2008, -1/+24I mention it because Pearl Jam was getting blamed for going way too late. They did go late, but not as late as has been reported, and the my neighbors said they were packed up with plenty of time for Kanye to set up.
- pantone286, on 06/18/2008, -13/+8Someone told me that kanye was backstage sacrificing christian children and plotting to take over the world by destroying western culture with his music and by using the media to to brainwash rich suburban kids. On top of that had to finish nailing some Swedish hoes before going on stage. *conspiracy tag*
- slvrbullet87, on 06/18/2008, -0/+41Well that just proves he isn't a musician, all of the greats went on stage after dropping acid
- JCougar, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Hell yeah they did. Iggy Pop live in Cincinnati when he starts throwing peanut butter... that *****'s legendary!!!
- backgen, on 06/18/2008, -3/+111 hit of a acid and he was freaking out? Are you kidding me!? Hendrix played at Woodstock with half a dozen tabs against his forehead under his Bandana so that the more he would sweat, the higher he would get.
- dhVyse, on 06/18/2008, -5/+2Contrary to popular belief(and SLC punk) LSD will NOT absord into your bloodstream through your skin.
- alkaline3217, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2... Yes it will. I've done it. Best way to sneak it in anywhere is to drop it on a band-aid. It only takes like 20-50 micrograms to get you high, so its pretty easy to pass through your skin.
Though you're correct in thinking hendrix probably never put it on his headband, that would be pointless. how much you sweat has nothing to do with it, most of it is already in liquid form. SLC punk was also full of urban legend BS. - esteskid, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1probably has a lot to do with what form it's in

- JCougar, on 06/18/2008, -1/+20Unfortunately that's B.S. - several of my friends work for the company that put on Bonnaroo. He was just being a diva. He was upset that Pearl Jam played over, so he felt like he could start whenever he damn well pleased. Plus he had already been a bitch to the Superfly people about playing the "other" main stage (the stage he was originally supposed to play). Really he just sucks and his show did too.

If any person/band was two hours late for the show that I had paid for (and considering it was Kanye, I'm assuming that was a decent amount of money), my immediate reaction would be "refund me right now".- Jacob, on 06/18/2008, -0/+26It wasn't a Kanye West Show it was Bonnaroo A huge multi-day concert, the target audience of which had no interest in Kanye West anyways. The real question isn't why was he late but why was he even invited to play anyways. If you paid 200 dollars for your bonnaroo tickets kanye was the last thing you were trying to see.
- jhadow, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1The Rollins Stones were about 90 minutes late to start their concert when I saw them in '96. The difference was that most people paid around a hundred dollars and were happy to wait BECAUSE IS WAS THE ROLLING STONES. Wu Tang was late when I saw them in concert... something like 2 hours. Brian McKnight was late to get on stage. LL Cool J didn't start anywhere near on time when I saw him. This isn't bankers hours. This ain't Broadway. if you insist on an ontime performance then buy the DVD so you can press play whenever you want.

They played some mainstream stuff going back to Ten, but also played some obscure stuff. Greatest live band I've ever seen. Greatest band in the world. Just my opinion though. If the Beatles were still around, it might be a tie.

- Kyrgizion, on 06/18/2008, -24/+19You listen to rap or r&b, and this happens to you.
No seriously, I'm not even trolling. How can you expect differently from musical styles whose lyrical endeavors rarely exceed the "hos & ganstas" themes and which glorify arrogance and contempt for others?- slimer525, on 06/18/2008, -2/+8Sounds like you need to turn off your radio...
- Kyrgizion, on 06/18/2008, -3/+10I counter with this, which lays out all my objections quite nicely:

REALLY?? ***** - Jaablaze, on 06/18/2008, -0/+6ROFL...while I find that very funny my friend please do remember, that one song cannot represent an entire genre. Most people who really listen to Hip-Hop don't even listen to the radio anymore, thats more like Hip-Pop. Most of the good music is on Mix Tape. I think you picked the worst possible song you could find though...how did you even find that?
- willy3121, on 06/18/2008, -1/+2Gogogo, how could watching that make you pissed? It made me into an erupting LOLcano.
- ShinRaTDR, on 06/18/2008, -1/+2Have you heard of something called a sub-genre? The ***** rap is most frequently snap music. Its *****, meant for a club and because it will make stupid people buy records en masse.
Oh yeah, and the video you cited?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riskay
Well, anyone with no record, a 2 sentence wikipedia page, 1 internet video thats ***** stupid, MUST reflect an entire genre. Plus, she's a female rapper, which means she will never be successful.
"smell yo dick, solja boy, and all these other stupid ***** people"
There is so much stupid rock and metal, some of it is so obnoxious like death metal, but I assume that there has to be something good out there or people wouldn't listen to it, and I don't even have a passing knowledge of the genre, just what I hear others listening to.
Finally, for all you people saying turn off your radio, ***** even the RADIO would be an improvement from the ***** you think people are listening to. - RoccoMcTaco, on 06/19/2008, -0/+0Why you gotta do me like that?

- willy3121, on 06/18/2008, -1/+6Your half-assed assessment of musical genres is equivalent to somebody judging all rock music based solely on the exploits of Jet, Nickelback, Hinder and Linkin Park. Having a guitar doesn't default you to credibility.

- 03n04k, on 06/18/2008, -21/+1The other side of the coin is this....
Pearl Jam is a drama queen. They purposely over played their gig to 3 hours just because Kanye had asked to perform on the same stage as them for his gig.
Beotches.- Sliperyfish, on 06/18/2008, -1/+11No, they did it so the crowd wasn't staring at a ***** wall for the extra hour they had to wait for that *****.
- frogstik, on 06/18/2008, -1/+8Yeah, Pearl Jam are drama queens... WTF. They play every show like it's their last... they're GREAT to their fans.
Of course Pearl Jam did it to piss off Kanye... sure. - Myonosken, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Pfft...I dislike pearl Jam, but they just went up a notch if they did try to piss off this prima donna and keep the festival patrons happy.
- bylarke, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Pearl Jam is a band you moron not a person. Come back when you learn to talk.
- aupton, on 06/18/2008, -11/+33***** Kanye...
- herbertstrasse, on 06/18/2008, -15/+165am I the only one who thinks that Kanye is incredibly overrated?
lupe fiasco ftw.- Shakermaker, on 06/18/2008, -0/+11"am I the only one who thinks that Kanye is incredibly overrated?"
No, sir. I'm right there with you. - fakeplasticsnow, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9while i hate his personality a lot, i cannot deny how great his music is. sure, it's no radiohead, but its the only mainstream artist i've listened to in years.
- SteelM, on 06/18/2008, -2/+22I wish i could digg you twice. Once for kanye being overated and another digg for lupe
- DrLeePhD, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4you sir, have been dugg.
- snowrider221, on 06/18/2008, -6/+13You realize Kanye West basically invented Lupe Fiasco right? Lupe had a minimal fanbase at best until Kanye brought him into his records and on his tours with him.
- Modestexcuse, on 06/18/2008, -0/+17Invented? Hardly. Lupe has been underground in Chi-Town for years. FnF Radio runs rampant on campus. Yes, Kanye helped.
Without Jay-Z, Kanye wouldn't be what he is. That is the way tons of artists get thier popularity. - praisethelard, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9I think it's because Lupe writes a lot of Kanye West's material.
- TitanX7, on 06/18/2008, -0/+9Kanye made Lupe big but to say that he invented him? An artist creates himself. Lupe even stated he was most influenced by Nas and It Was Written. You could really say Nas made him if you wanted to take the view but all in all he made himself. No one did his style before him, it's a shame Kanye's getting tagged onto Lupe.
- quomen, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Without Jay-Z, Kanye wouldnt be where he is. Without Kayne, Jay-Z wouldn't have his most critically acclaimed album (Blueprint). It's a mutual relationship.
- Modestexcuse, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3I agree completely. Kanye has beats/samples/hooks on many, many people's music. Not many people actually know that.
- Modestexcuse, on 06/18/2008, -0/+17Invented? Hardly. Lupe has been underground in Chi-Town for years. FnF Radio runs rampant on campus. Yes, Kanye helped.
- UnarmedHippo, on 06/18/2008, -0/+8lupe's set that night was so much better than kanyes. lupe should have been on the main stage
- miestersean, on 06/18/2008, -7/+2I think they're both overrated. Wack ass lyrics.
- bajam, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6you fail.
- Cloud7654, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2"Wack" ass-lyrics?
- bajam, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6you fail.
- quomen, on 06/18/2008, -1/+4Lupe is great, but you know that those two come in a package right. Most hiphop fans know by now that Pharrell, Kanye, and Lupe are releasing an album together under the name CRS. It's going to be epic..
- Modestexcuse, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2I actually like the trio. I am looking forward to the album. I just don't agree with those that say Kayne "made" Lupe. Lupe on the contrary has tried to escape the main stream for years. Her purposely goes against the grain with his lyrics, nothing at ALL like the rest of Rap on the radio. He sings about skateboards and transformers. I really enjoy the refreshing change.
- Xander512, on 06/18/2008, -0/+6Kanye's music isnt overrated at all in my opinion, but Lupe's is definately underrated
- RadiatedAnt, on 06/18/2008, -4/+2Lupe fiasco is over rated,
Talib Kweli FTW!! - TheBlackOasis, on 09/11/2008, -0/+0Am I the only one who thinks Lupe Fiasco is overrated?
- Shakermaker, on 06/18/2008, -0/+11"am I the only one who thinks that Kanye is incredibly overrated?"
- jzuska, on 06/18/2008, -1/+21Someone who went please post pics of porta loos
- dteresh, on 06/18/2008, -0/+64I don't have any pics of the portaloos, but I thought this thing on a Centeroo wall was pretty funny: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3756/2586022634 ...
