I am sorry but all i see here is a bunch of children riding the new fad of the week. Is anyone here really that ***** serious? Obviously people here do not listen to rap because almost every damn major rapper has claimed something with a huge ego.
If it isn't shown in their lyrics, it is shown by their nicknames. From Method man, Jay -z, to eminem and Nas the high bravado has always been there. But, its a good thing because no matter how many diggs from self important idiots this post gets Kanye will still......... make millions.

I don't buy Kanye interviews, I buy Kanye CD's. - UNL1M1T3D, on 11/15/2008, -4/+4I agree. Regardless of what people say the man does have talent and he is a good writer. If you listen to one of his CD's he explains that by him being arrogant he uses it as his driving force to be better. I just wish he would realise that him acting like an arrogant ass is driving away people who can't separate the man from the music.
- bdfariello, on 11/15/2008, -0/+5And this is why it's still okay to listen to Michael Jackson. Smooth Criminal is still a damn good song.
- TheCollective00, on 11/15/2008, -2/+4I wouldn't even download Kanye's CD's.
- bluezinc, on 11/15/2008, -3/+3No, he sucks at writing. His lyrics are always awful and about random crap that has nothing to do with the song. It's just a ramble set to a really good beat that someone else created for him.
- urbano35, on 11/16/2008, -3/+2@bluezinc - Unfortunately, what you say is mostly opinion. In fact, I think your opinion was built upon what others say. Actually listen to an album of his for a change. And by the way, he does make his own beats. He doesn't take credit for the production of "Stronger", so don't base your statement on that.
- bluezinc, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I have 2 of his albums. I like his songs, I just don't like him or his huge ass ego.

- sv650touring, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2how many?
- Owwmykneecap, on 11/15/2008, -1/+9about a milifonzie.
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 11/15/2008, -3/+1Sounds more like a kilofonzie. A millifonzie would be .001 fonzies. I'd put him at about 1.21 jigafonzies.
- bdfariello, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1pikpikcarrotmon, 1000 microfonzies = 1 millifonzie. Of course, you could be saying you think Kanye's 12 orders of magnitude more fonzie than Owwmykneecap's estimates.
- hendrixlives64, on 11/15/2008, -16/+3the funniest thing is that his statements haven't directly hurt any of you, half of you probably never listened to him before, and fewer than that even will now... and yet it appears digg is UP IN ARMS AT THIS MORAL OUTRAGE
- sabach, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3If he came on the radio I wouldn't know it was him, so yeah you're absolutely right about that. But as for "moral outrage", I just think anyone who is a big enough douche to think they're the "voice" of anything and say so in public is especially deserving of my contempt.
- TheCollective00, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Of course. Bad music hurts our soul.
See: Nickelback
- bluezinc, on 11/15/2008, -1/+15What's really annoying about Kanye West is that he professes to be some progressive activist through music by titling his songs, but the conveying the opposite of that attitude in his lyrics and general lifestyle. For example, "diamonds of sierra leone" makes you think he cares about blood diamonds, but the lyrics of that song are about how much he loves diamonds and about how the VMAs are unfair to him and how he doesn't like it when music magazines say mean things about him.
What a big baby.- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/15/2008, -3/+3In the remix he mentions the conflict diamonds:
Good Morning, this ain't Vietnam still
People lose hands, legs, arms for real
Little was known of Sierra Leone
And how it connect to the diamonds we own
When I speak of Diamonds in this song
I ain't talkin bout the ones that be glown
I'm talkin bout Rocafella, my home, my chain
These ain't conflict diamonds,is they Jacob? don't lie to me mayne
See, a part of me sayin' keep shinin',
How? when I know of the blood diamonds
Though it's thousands of miles away
Sierra Leone connect to what we go through today
Over here, its a drug trade, we die from drugs
Over there, they die from what we buy from drugs
The diamonds, the chains, the bracelets, the charmses
I thought my Jesus Piece was so harmless
'til I seen a picture of a shorty armless
And here's the conflict
It's in a black person's soul to rock that gold
Spend ya whole life tryna get that ice
On a polar rugby it look so nice
How could somethin' so wrong make me feel so right, right?
'fore I beat myself up like Ike
You could still throw ya Rocafella diamond tonight, 'cause - bluezinc, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4Even when he mentions the conflict diamonds he manages to be offensive, "It's in a black person's soul to rock that gold"???
So, it's just a "black person's soul" that makes them buy lots of jewelry?? How is that not racist?
Also, Kanye shouldn't try explaining anything to anybody because he clearly has no idea what's going on. "Over here, its a drug trade, we die from drugs
Over there, they die from what we buy from drugs"
Wow, Kanye, that's a powerful insight you have. We are all greater for having heard your opinion on the causes for the blood diamond trade. - staticneuron, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1Bluezinc you are an idiot. If you actually LISTENED to kanye's music you wouldn't jump to false accusations over and over again. There is nothing racist about his statement because he as touched on the subject many times before. He is talking about Black americans specifically and their addiction to materialism and wealth. He put his lyrics to best use in "All falls down".
"She's so precious with the peer pressure
Couldn't afford a car so she named her daughter Alexus (a Lexus)"
"And she be dealing with some issues that you can't believe
Single black female addicted to retail and well"
"Man I promise, I'm so self conscious
That's why you always see me with at least one of my watches"
"It seems we living the american dream
But the people highest up got the lowest self esteem
The prettiest people do the ugliest things
For the road to riches and diamond rings
We shine because they hate us, floss cause they degrade us
We trying to buy back our 40 acres
And for that paper, look how low we a'stoop
Even if you in a Benz, you still a ***** in a coop/coupe"
"We'll buy a lot of clothes when we don't really need em
Things we buy to cover up what's inside
Cause they make us hate ourself and love they wealth"
"I got a problem with spending before I get it
We all self conscious I'm just the first to admit it"
And that is not the only song he touched on the subject but if you listen to his lyrics then his attitude would make alot more sense. It is hyper bravado and mor of a facade than anything. To him it is his way of being "real" by speaking whats on his mind and even the vocalizing his self motivation. - mwilhelm, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3Bluezinc is absolutely right here. He says one thing and does another. Johnny mc-I'm-too-good-to-go-to-college-so-ill-pretend-to-be-a-role-model-by-convincing-kids-to-*****-and-rap-all-day.
The guy hasn't written ONE orignial song.
EVERYTHING is stolen from people with real talent. Gil-Scott, DAFT PUNK, common, the list goes on.
I'll admit his faux-negro, black-ass, ghetto-culture is funny; but I don't think he intends it to be. He intends Irony - but I'm not laughing with him.
I am laughing AT him. While he laughs all the way to the bank cause Americans are suckers.
Kanye is a perfect example of what you should do if you have no real talent for anything in your life.
Problem is, he thinks he's gods gift - when if it weren't for the greedy pop music execs and marketing (the same "bling" ***** he tries to talk out against) - any real fans of MUSIC woulda laughed him off stage years ago.

- Juice7, on 11/15/2008, -12/+2I think he's only saying that he represents more people in this generation than any other celebrity. He's one of the only mainstream music artists that are out there that is trying to be creative and innovative and I appreciate what he does for the music in general. If I had kids I'd rather have them listening to him than most of the other crap they'll be forced to here. For some reason Diggers love to hate the guy, but to me he just seems like someone who occasionally says dumb things, though quote this is just being taken out of context in these comments.
- DarkShroud, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3He makes it so easy to hate him.
- phike, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2"Creative"? Questionable. What is not questionable is his selfish, douchebag nature. He is the biggest pile of worm ***** since worms.
Righteous, flagrant *****. Stuck-up *****. Yella-belly uterus. Kanye is and forever will be a piece of retard rap, no matter what he says he is.
- dixta, on 11/15/2008, -2/+13Totally.... "voice of this generation"??? Please.... nobody gives a flying f**k that he knows how to take someone else's melody and rap over the top of it with *****, tired themes.

"If I had kids I'd rather have them listening to him than most of the other crap they'll be forced to here."
Wow. Wanna retract that statement? Think about it a little longer, maybe browse iTunes a bit, and report back here. - smacksaw, on 11/15/2008, -2/+4Agreed. Intentional pop artists are never the ones who end up being the voices of their generation. It's the people who didn't make an effort to be famous that made a name for themselves. Nirvana, NWA (remember, they had a video with Eazy-E where they cruised up to a club in a Ford Aerostar van), Radiohead...
And then you look at Kiss, Kanye West, P Diddy, Michael Jackson...they are the voice of freaks. Their fans are extremely uncool. They aren't a generation...of anything but tools.- SickofSects, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1Dude, Michael Jackson does not belong on that list.. he might be a "freak" now.. but he truly was a phenomenon in his time.. and no one can accuse him of being derivative. Watch some of his vids on youtube sometime..

- daedalous, on 11/14/2008, -3/+21Someone who cared about the fans, and not how he looked on stage, would have performed without all the fancy *****. He mentioned his pyrotechnics being a big part of the delay - last time I checked, Kanye West wasn't famous for his stage pyrotechnics, he was famous because he can rap/dowhateveritishedoes.

- ctrlv, on 11/15/2008, -2/+8HAHAHA oh wow, I'm digging this article just because of that. I always knew the guy was a dick, but had no idea he was such a bitch too. However, he is good at one thing - turning a bad situation into a hilarious disaster (which is an understatement with this blog post). I don't think I ever read so much BAWWWWW in one sitting, and I didn't even get halfway through.
- DarkShroud, on 11/15/2008, -1/+6@chompysweat, a living legend of utter stupidity and racism.

- oliversan, on 11/14/2008, -66/+17It's the same story with Puffy really. It doesn't really bother me how arrogant he is, he is an amazing producer and it doesn't really effect my opinion of his music.
- iSamurai, on 11/14/2008, -5/+38Puffy is an amazing producer? You've got to be joking...
- oliversan, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Have you listened to Notorious B.I.G.'s albums? Puffy is a really good producer, and so is Kanye, listen to the Blueprint by Jay-Z.
- alexsk8ca, on 11/14/2008, -6/+3I think he means Kanye is an amazing producer.

- futebollounge, on 11/14/2008, -1/+2puffy's producing = main stream pile of *****.
most of these radio rappers beats sound like the demo button on a keyboard, although i do like kanye minus the ego. - myklee, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2They both blow. The best producers are DJ Premier, Pete Rock, or Madlib. Premier created Juicy, not Puffy.
- stopbrorape, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1hi-tek
- Altair27, on 11/14/2008, -1/+3Producers don't get any credit these days. There are many better rappers than Kanye, but it pisses me off every time someone says something like "Lupe Fiasco is such a better artist than Kanye West." Kanye actually makes his songs sound the way they do, whereas most rappers just rely on other people for beats. You have to take that into account.
Wait, no one will care about this... uh... ***** THE RIAA! - anononon, on 11/15/2008, -2/+3Die in a fire.
- maddhopps, on 11/15/2008, -3/+3They both are damn good at their jobs. Puffy makes dubious-quality mainstream music that makes you relax, gives you energy, and helps you dry hump girls at clubs. Kanye makes (I think) good quality music and finds interesting ways to periodically change the sound without resorting to jumping the shark.
They both have ridiculous personalities... but all divas do.
- iSamurai, on 11/14/2008, -5/+38Puffy is an amazing producer? You've got to be joking...

- mywhitenoise, on 11/14/2008, -7/+5but to be fair Daft Punk sampled 'Cola Bottle Baby' for 'Harder Better Faster Stronger'.
with that out of the way, ***** Kanye, praise Daft Punk! - JCH897, on 11/15/2008, -0/+7I don't think he's even made a beat without sampling someone else.
- mywhitenoise, on 11/14/2008, -7/+5but to be fair Daft Punk sampled 'Cola Bottle Baby' for 'Harder Better Faster Stronger'.
- DeathRay2K, on 11/14/2008, -2/+17Actually, I agree with MrSticky.
And I certainly wouldn't include Stronger among his better songs.- alexhouse, on 11/15/2008, -2/+1Listen to Daft Punk.
- DeathRay2K, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2I know the Daft Punk song, and I don't think it's very good either.
- smacksaw, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1I've heard more relevant, creative and adult rhymes at 6th grade camp singalongs than the laughable lack of creativity that is "Stronger"...I can't believe he can sing that song with a straight face.
Here's a man who needed a word to rhyme with "longer" and decided that he was gonna just take the plunge and go with "wronger"...yet he could not find a word to rhyme with "anymore" so he just used it again.
At that point, he realised that he'd pretty much given up on being legit, so he went all the way just rhymed "*****" with "*****", does "not" with "not" a few times, mixes in "plans" a few times and says he wants a blond dyke because he has a brain freeze from eating too many Klondike bars or something.
Really, if you actually listen to the lyrics of that song I think it's actually funnier than anything Weird Al ever did.
- Incomp3tnt, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1The Good Life is pretty much the only song I enjoy. The rest are just terrible. Shame on you, Kanye. Shame on you.
- Karmakongen, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Ummm, have you guys ever heard of Blueprint by Jay-Z or The Black Album...yeah, Kanye sort of produced some of the best songs off those albums (and many others). You can hate on him for his attitude, but his ability as a producer is great. And if you don't even like hip-hop your opinion doesn't even matter so be quiet.
- AmericanParty, on 11/14/2008, -10/+31no he doesn't, he has to used Daft Punk for a good hit.

- rocketship47, on 11/15/2008, -6/+13haha, it's true that those are all excellent MC's, but you've got to give Kanye West a little credit, not all of his songs are glitzy bangers, he's written a couple of meaningful and touching songs as well. He's not the Chad Kroeger of hip-hop for pete's sake, if Usher said the same things _then_ I'd be up in arms.
- chompysweat, on 11/15/2008, -7/+12Yeah, exactly. Give the man credit. He's PRODUCED for Talib Kweli, Mos Def! He's produced some of the greatest beats of modern hip hop history (post year 2001)

- laxidasical, on 11/15/2008, -7/+1Nas sucks. He has a nice track every once in a while. Jay-Z had him spot on when they were battling. Talib, Mos and Lupe are by far the best, lyrically speaking, out of the bunch.

- Jeepinator, on 11/14/2008, -11/+9when this generation looks back at its music i hope it is ashamed. I hate our mainstream music. It is absolutely terrible. - Paulorific, on 11/14/2008, -49/+24That would be metal.
- elmuerte17, on 11/14/2008, -10/+22don't be hating... metal has a good majority of the best musicians in the world.
as for rap, that's not even music... - Paulorific, on 11/14/2008, -12/+19There's a lot of ***** rap. You can even say that most rap is bad. The thing is, rap actually has words that you can interpret, and has a a beat that is nice to listen to. Metal is just yelling and lots of times it is very difficult to even understand what the "singer" is saying.
Kanye West has some stupid songs (songs with no meaning) but he also has some beautiful songs. I've yet to hear one metal song that induces some type of emotional response other than rage. I ***** despise 50 cent (and almost all mainstream rappers) but I would still choose to listen to some 50 Cent over any metal. It's just nice to listen to and you can actually hear the person's words. - stonebone4, on 11/14/2008, -1/+18There's good metal just like there's good rap.
I listen to Opeth just as much as I do Ghostface. Totally different sounds but you don't have to be in any specific genre to be an incredible musician.
Not saying you'd be into Opeth, but just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else doesn't find something amazing in it. - hatdrop, on 11/14/2008, -1/+8isn't hating on rap what you're doing elmuerte?
i hate on bad music, if i like the song i don't even give a ***** what genre it is
- elmuerte17, on 11/14/2008, -10/+22don't be hating... metal has a good majority of the best musicians in the world.
- Gosunkugi, on 11/14/2008, -13/+87Wait, Kanye put out a Christian rock record?
- antzology, on 11/14/2008, -13/+4wtf metal and hip hop are the best genres.

- JPOOPOO, on 11/15/2008, -3/+16Hip hop is great. Of course the people complaining are only listening to bad hip hop. I wouldn't listen to rock music if all I was listening to was Creed. Its your fault if you can't find good music to listen to.
- Nightzet467, on 11/15/2008, -10/+3since all hip hop is about drugs, sex, and violence, not that many people care about hip hop and rate it as the worst piece of ***** ever
- davidlick, on 11/15/2008, -0/+6@Nightzet467 *COUGH* Rock *Grumble*
I'm a big fan of rock, but you have to admit that most of the mainstream stuff has to do with: tadum! drugs, sex and violence. You have to dig deeper to find the good stuff. - usemanzana, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1Yup. As for good hiphop that doesn't have to do with drugs sex or violence (except in a way that you might find more palatable) take a look at some conscious hip hop - Blue Scholars are my current favorite. Also, Atmosphere for a sort of self-centered kinda style. There's a lot of breadth to what is hip hop, and as a political punk turned hip hop fan, It's interesting to figure out how much good stuff there is. Problem is, like with most (all?) genres, you don't hear the good stuff on the radio, so you don't ever hear about it.
- Musicmonkey34, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3isnt that sort of like being the worlds tallest midget?

- Zenham, on 11/15/2008, -0/+8Mostly.
- seabass10, on 11/15/2008, -1/+9You never usually the whole comment?
- xGeneric, on 11/15/2008, -1/+5Yeah he's got some great reasoning. Another gem I saw was:
"The Grammy-winning rapper-producer said Justin Timberlake had a chance to be music's MVP, but hasn't put out enough material. (Timberlake's last album was in 2006, while West released a CD last year and is releasing his latest — "808s and Heartbreak" — on Nov. 24.)"
So apparently whoever puts out more music is the better artist? Is he serious? I mean, if your going for the largest volume of generic sounding music, I guess... otherwise that's a pretty ridiculous measure of importance.- DarkShroud, on 11/15/2008, -1/+5Kanye was probably jealous of dick in a box. Because all Kanye has ever had is a dick in his ass.
- tito184, on 11/15/2008, -1/+1He's only doing this for publicity. Now we all know that he has an album coming out and when.
He's not the best rapper, but he is damn smart when it comes to marketing himself.

- Ndiggnation, on 11/14/2008, -11/+7I'd say he's pretty intelligent, just not enough to not be in love with himself or not to over-estimate his own influence or importance.
Some people think that those of us who voted Obama think he's some kind of messiah, Kanye seems to think he himself actually is.- ummagummas08, on 11/15/2008, -1/+9Nope, he's pretty much a moron.
- Ndiggnation, on 11/14/2008, -11/+7I'd say he's pretty intelligent, just not enough to not be in love with himself or not to over-estimate his own influence or importance.
- saqer, on 11/14/2008, -33/+11I've never really listened to kanye's stuff, but I sure will now. I also praise him for whatever good he may have done, just to offset all the hate and bigotry of the comments I see here. Mob mentality for the loss.
- danj484, on 11/14/2008, -2/+4There's a difference between reckless anger and righteous anger. This is the latter.
- abngal, on 11/14/2008, -1/+5Last time I checked your history saqer, you are also hateful [of diggers] and a bigot [toward diggers]. You can't expect other users to listen to you when you don't have the credibility. You even lie - and it is in your comments. Pissing off diggers is not cool. If you don't like the comments, don't read it. Many diggers are harassed and distracted by comments while trying to find informative ones.

He pushes boundaries and is a billion times better than all the other ***** rap performers out there. Sure is an arrogant *****, but hell so were a ton of musicians. Doesnt make him less of an artist thou, just more of a douche.
- ileftfark, on 11/14/2008, -9/+39Sampling everyone else's music doesn't make him a pioneer, it makes him a hack.

- hatdrop, on 11/14/2008, -7/+5while that may be true, sampling music points people, mainly younger kids, to great classics they would have otherwise never heard about.
i woulda never got tuned into bobby caldwell if everyone didn't sample his music.
hell every track off daft punk's discovery album was sampled (as can be read from their liner notes) seeing as how people like to riff on kanye for sampling harder, better, faster, stronger - hatdrop, on 11/14/2008, -4/+7why the buries? disappointed that by your definition daft punk would be considered hacks?
- antzology, on 11/14/2008, -1/+4Sampling can be bloody genius, just listen to DJ Shadows Endtroducing... (Instrumental Hip Hop).
- kinseyincanada, on 11/15/2008, -0/+6the beats from rap and hip-hop are sampled, its entire origin is from sampling different types of music and putting them together over various sounds to create a new beat. The vast majority of rap music is sampled, like Daft Punk, Justice, they all sample music.
- ehalasey, on 11/15/2008, -2/+3I would say there's a huge difference between sampling and taking a huge chunk out of someone else's song, spitting some ***** lyrics over it, and calling it yours. Ever heard of a little Beastie Boys album called Paul's Boutique? That *****'s ALL samples, and if you're gonna tell me that makes the Dust Brothers hacks, you need to clean out your ears, son.
Kanye is a hack because he lifts whole tunes. - picpak, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" also sampled a song called "Cola Bottle Baby" by Edwin Birdsong.

- Shaneonfire, on 11/15/2008, -0/+6Google will answer you faster.
- Namakemono, on 11/14/2008, -4/+8No seriously, who the phuck is he? I cannot name one song from him. Sorry, I'm too busy listening to REAL music.
- ju1i3andcandy, on 11/14/2008, -4/+20I did not need an article to tell me this. Dude needs to chill the ***** out.
- Braindead360, on 11/14/2008, -5/+27Kanye West is such a douchebag. Okay, so the guy has sold millions in albums, big deal. There are plenty of other entertainers who are way ahead of him when it comes to money and talent. I hope one day his ego will jump up and bite him on the ass.
- grapesofbaath, on 11/14/2008, -5/+306My favorite Kanye West moment is when he had a complete melt down when he didn't win best video of the year at the MTV music awards, and ran around screaming "GIVE A BLACK MAN A CHANCE. SOMEONE GIVE A BLACK MAN A CHANCE" over and over for literally 15 minutes. What a tool.
- Mpwns, on 11/14/2008, -3/+39lol he later went on snl making fun of him self over that.
- Somnabot, on 11/15/2008, -0/+10Had to.
- Ndiggnation, on 11/14/2008, -3/+48Yeah, a chance...tell that to any black artist of the last 80-90 years or so, many of which have influenced or created nearly every genre we have today. Gee, no one gave a black artist a chance before Kanye..
- shapedy, on 11/15/2008, -3/+4So true. When you look at all genres of music that are definitively American, you notice that they were all started by black people.
- MattJensen, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Wait... what?
- BigManOnCampus, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3@shapedy
Wrong.
Genres of music that are definitively American were started by Americans of all races. Jazz is not some form of music that *only* came from African American influences. Neither is nearly every form of music created thereafter. There are many influences that go into new musical genres. Jazz alone was influenced as much by Latin America, Slave work songs, and European instruments and harmony. It is ignorant to imply that definitively American music only comes from one race.
- bobsbones, on 11/14/2008, -3/+10Chance or Change?
- gnomead, on 11/15/2008, -2/+7You want to give a black man change? That's not very nice, sir.
- encrypteduser,
