      C G C F A D

      The sixth string, the thickest heaviest one the low E, is especially loose. You can drag the ***** around with your finger.

    • oblique63, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3I think it's being a bit exaggerated as to how easy it is, I mean, sure it's easy as breathing for most of us experienced (metal) guitar players, but I could see somebody getting caught up on a fast 16th note 'E-beating'/alternate-picking pattern, its not the simplest thing to go from 8th notes to 16th notes and back again, while keeping time perfectly, in such a short interval... so I wouldn't say it's exactly 'Iron Man' simple, seeing as how it wouldn't be that easy for a beginner to pull off properly anyway...

      and besides, I could totally see that sort of thing happening to anyone just learning a new riff for the first time, it's usually the timing that gets people, not so much the technical skill required to play it...

        After the black album, they released "Load" the last piece of music from Metallica I ever paid for, "Load" was what I call the "grunge" switch over, if you call that THRASH METAL (and use all capitals to emphasize your point) then you have no ***** clue what trash metal is.

      I think many musicians can understand this. Sometimes an odd timing can just throw you off, then you over-think it, and it just messes with your head.

      Okay, so if you can't intelligently verbalize the problem you're having, the alternative is to slow down and play it clearly and precisely. Except in this case, when he slows down to demonstrate he loses all sense of rhythm and just confuses matters more.
