- VaporBro, on 06/23/2008, -9/+27Better get oranger for NIN...
- ThinkIcouldburn, on 06/23/2008, -14/+9Ouch....Jersey hatred. If he listens to NIN, odds are he isn't a douchebag. However we've grown up with those legendary douchbags of lore. Be nice.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -14/+6"If he listens to NIN, odds are he isn't a douchebag."
That is the dumbest thing I have ever read. - Dwebtron, on 06/23/2008, -2/+17i'm with you man; I'm from jersey too. There are many douche bags and assholes, but if you go to the right part you won't find any. To be honest, I only know two people who go tanning on a regular basis! :)
- IglooBurner, on 06/23/2008, -8/+2Bon Jovi is from Jersey. That gives u guys a +1. But ur ***** high way system gives u guys a -100,000,000.
- phorty40, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3Seriously. how hard is it to turn around in nj , its ridiculous.
- Seph7, on 06/23/2008, -2/+6Bon Jovi gives a +1 ????? Bon Jovi, really !??
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -2/+4I think he meant +1 for douche bags.
- IglooBurner, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3whoah there i suppose i commented in the wrong type of crowd eh... apparently according to you guys, who are too cool for bon jovi, anyone who even mildly appreciates bon jovi's music is most definately a douche bag.
- DephexTwin, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3Yes, that is exactly correct.
- dafragsta, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Bon Jovi gets +1. I guess the boss is left hanging.
- phorty40, on 06/23/2008, -9/+6Come to NEW YORK INSTEAD TRENT, I KNOW YOU READ DIGG!
Jersey is the attic of NY , lol - fletcher008, on 06/23/2008, -10/+5your state sucks. jersey is just fine.
- phunkytech, on 06/23/2008, -12/+5Jersey is the best State in AMERICA
- LostinJersey, on 06/23/2008, -4/+18way to bandwagon hate something you know nothing about and for no reason. you know what that's called? bigoted.
- mk3k, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3I've been there a few times. The only place I've ever been where people yelled racist ***** at me for no reason other than I was sitting on a deck.
***** Jersey- fribhey, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3you obviously haven't been many places.... if you think jersey is a bad and racist place then take your next vacation in philly
- mk3k, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3I've been there a few times. The only place I've ever been where people yelled racist ***** at me for no reason other than I was sitting on a deck.
- luet, on 06/23/2008, -8/+2Ahahahahaha, the jersey hate here is the funniest thread I have ever read on digg
- thelimopit, on 06/23/2008, -2/+12Has anyone considered that he might mean Jersey, the small island in the English channel? Because it's quite nice there.
- rabidmonkey1, on 06/23/2008, -3/+5I'd like to know how many of you have actually ever really been to NJ. My bet is that the real number is pretty low, and that most of this is mindless mob madness (omg, not on DIGG!!)
In actuality, it's a pretty nice state. In fact, most of southern NJ is just farmland. Sure if you fly into Newark and never venture 15 mins beyond that, things stay pretty rancid, but I can think of worse places in other states.
And if you actually were here, you'd realize that the orange d-bags are NY guidos. We have a name for them here, we call them Benny's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_(slang)
And yeah, we drive on your bumper because you DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE. No matter what you think to the contrary. I can't tell you how many times I've seen out of state drivers just move like complete idiots. Like in circles. A guy from Florida drove in both lanes around a circle. And you know why we keep the circles? Just to confuse to out-of-staters.
Or, you know, you can stay online in middle-of-nowhere America with your K-Marts and self-service gas stations and expensive gas (which, ha, is still under 4 dollars here, even though we have full service stations) and continue to think that NJ sucks without ever being there. Of course, you'd be wrong but hey, if you like expensive gas and shopping at K-Mart, I'm not going to stop you.- Modulo, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1"And you know why we keep the circles? Just to confuse to out-of-staters."
And you wonder why everyone thinks you are douchebags.
Douchebag.
- Modulo, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1"And you know why we keep the circles? Just to confuse to out-of-staters."
- mm911, on 06/23/2008, -3/+1"Can't wait to see you come to Jersey!"
Me? Why do you want to see ME in Jersey? - IanPR, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1I can't wait to see them in Michigan!
(Im not from Michigan, nor am i ghetto :P) - AmericanIronman, on 06/24/2008, -0/+0Hoping they are coming to Raliegh, NC some time later this year.... don't want to miss this tour but can't get off work long enough to travel to one of the other states.......
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 06/23/2008, -20/+43Jersey Sucks.
- keithnoir, on 06/23/2008, -4/+106So much detail and its just a rehearsal, looks and sounds great.
- Fratz, on 06/23/2008, -1/+5I had to play the album track just to make sure it was a different recording of the same song. If NiN sounds that good live, I may have to go see them :)
- verevi, on 06/23/2008, -15/+2If it sounds just like the album, why not just listen to the album instead?
- Blandyman, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4He was saying that he had to make sure it wasn't just a performance with the song overlaid or something. That it sounded so new. That's what he meant.
- malechite, on 06/23/2008, -1/+20NIN has a different sound live, its pretty fricken amazing. New life is breathed into old songs. It gives me goosebumps! Cant wait to see them again
- Peko, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6I think going all the way back to Pretty Hate Machine Trent spends a great deal of effort and time on a good live show. I'm not as familiar with his current stuff (I'm old, i've lost interest, now I wear my pants up to my armpits) but generally NIN shows are a pretty good time. "Heavier". Does a very good job turning the more "studio" stuff into a successful live presentation.
So, er, uh, even if I don't listen to NIN anymore, mad kudos to Trent for putting on some kick ass shows. Seems like he's keeping that up.
Oh yeah, check out the video for March of the Pigs. I'm pretty sure that video is not the album version but a live take.
- verevi, on 06/23/2008, -15/+2If it sounds just like the album, why not just listen to the album instead?
- Tyrghast, on 06/23/2008, -5/+4Whether you like their music or not, you can't say they don't love what they do. It's great to see a band having fun at their own rehearsals.
also, their drummer was on some good drugs for that video, watch him lol.- applemachome, on 06/23/2008, -10/+1Actually, I don't like their music. And I watched parts of their concert on DVD. I don't really love what they do, I have to say.
- Iztikeit, on 06/23/2008, -9/+0Actually, I don't like their music. Most bands have fun at their rehearsals.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoLJJRIWCLU
You'll appreciate this much more.
- danielsamuels, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5This video has changed my opinion of NiN. Before I heard this song, I thought they were some sort of electronica group because of the free music which they gave away.
I downloaded both of the free albums, and to be honest, I thought they sucked. If they have more songs like the one on this video, then I think I'd be inclined to give them another try. On that thought, what songs are similar to this, that I should listen to?
Convert me people.- Dotdotdot, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4The song in this video is from their free album, The Slip.
- danielsamuels, on 06/23/2008, -3/+1I think that's the album I deleted after track 2.
- Xpletive, on 06/23/2008, -0/+41,000,000 is track 2.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Owned.
- titlesaysitall, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2Here you go, a lot of their songs from their 2006 tour on the live DVD Beside You In Time
http://youtube.com/results?search_query=beside+you ... - Jett3, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2i don't really know what to say 'cuz honestly, i can pick out about 4 songs from each of their full length albums that i love. i can't really think of a single other band that i can do that for.
- HorseloverFat8, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3Try Broken.
- thejackyl, on 06/24/2008, -0/+0Dude, both of those songs are from The Slip, which you apparently downloaded...
Anyway, try With Teeth and Broken. Those are his most rock oriented releases.
- Dotdotdot, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4The song in this video is from their free album, The Slip.
- artofwar420, on 06/23/2008, -1/+4Indeed that was a great live performance. Scratch that, an insane live performance.
- keithnoir, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3Download the fragile and the downward spiral, if you don't like either, your not a nin fan.
- nurvus, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1i would say it looks good enough to be an official music vid for 1,000,000. god i'm so pumped up for this tour!!
- Fratz, on 06/23/2008, -1/+5I had to play the album track just to make sure it was a different recording of the same song. If NiN sounds that good live, I may have to go see them :)
- thelastdisciple, on 06/23/2008, -14/+8Just makes me all the more stoked for theee concert!
- xxMarka, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3excuse me?
- laurita369, on 06/23/2008, -5/+14So awesome....I can't wait to see them in Philly!!!
- nurvus, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1got the presale tickets here for Duluth. will be my 6th time seeing NIN and it just gets better each show. Trent knows his audience better than most any other band i can think of imho
- smokingpurse, on 06/23/2008, -5/+10July 26th (Seattle) can't get here fast enough!
- antymateria, on 06/23/2008, -6/+24Mr. Reznor - You are AWESOME!!
(come again to Germany, my dear)- derdante, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3Yes, please!
- wayyy, on 06/23/2008, -1/+11Das auto!
- getbusyliving, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2my dear!
- jacklopter, on 06/23/2008, -2/+81Just another example of how NIN truely cares about the fans and putting on a great show. Thank you!
- amer1kant, on 06/23/2008, -4/+9Awesome! I can't wait to see you in MA!
- Xpletive, on 06/23/2008, -3/+47This is once again confirmation that the '08 tour will be nothing short of AMAZING
- 333ashton333, on 06/23/2008, -9/+12Love the new video. Best band ever!! See ya August 13
- Iztikeit, on 06/23/2008, -8/+1Best band ever? How's that?
- MarrowMan, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1you sucked Maynard's dick
- SRSco, on 06/23/2008, -6/+2NIN sucks. Not the best band ever. Far from it. I have no idea how all NIN fans flocked to Digg. I don't know anybody IRL who can stomach them.
- MarrowMan, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Yes
- Iztikeit, on 06/23/2008, -8/+1Best band ever? How's that?
- aynz, on 06/23/2008, -4/+9Awesome, amazing. Can't wait until they hit Europe
- freedomhater, on 06/23/2008, -28/+2Decent!!
- Warstrong, on 06/23/2008, -16/+8This is going to be the most amazing group in the history of NIN! You guys are the greatest artists of today! Too bad I won't see you guys in concert...
- Pinion315, on 06/23/2008, -2/+22Wow, Robin's guitar and voice Really makes a difference; everything sounds great- I'm digging the band and can't wait to see you guys live again.
- anaesthetica, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3Yeah, Robin Finck and Josh Freese are going to make this really solid.
Not yet sure about Beck's bassist -- hopefully he'll step up his game for the NIN material.- ghostie, on 06/24/2008, -4/+1Oh yes, because the music of NIN really requires virtuosic instrumental talent. Especially their dashing bass work! Give me a break. This song is horrible, and this is coming from someone who used to love NIN (back when I was 15, like every other NIN fan).
- thejackyl, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Who are you kidding? Both those songs rock and you know it.
- ghostie, on 06/24/2008, -4/+1Oh yes, because the music of NIN really requires virtuosic instrumental talent. Especially their dashing bass work! Give me a break. This song is horrible, and this is coming from someone who used to love NIN (back when I was 15, like every other NIN fan).
- MrMineo, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Trent always has the best supporting talent. I mean geez, the guys on the With Teeth tour [and Beside You in Time DVD] were just stellar. ***** Aaron Icarus!
- anaesthetica, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3Yeah, Robin Finck and Josh Freese are going to make this really solid.
- fragile00, on 06/23/2008, -12/+11A million miles away.
- galvo, on 06/23/2008, -47/+10Now only if they'd put more effort into making decent music..
- jackieokennedy, on 06/23/2008, -21/+2poor axl rose, robin left him :( ....
- jackieokennedy, on 06/23/2008, -32/+19 new songs from Guns n' Roses CHINESE DEMOCRACY
http://www.gunsnroses.us/
with robin finck, therefor NIN related :)- akilleen, on 06/23/2008, -2/+7I am going to listen to this while I play Duke Nukem Forever.
- anillop, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5At this point does anyone even care about G n R anymore. Maybe if the album came out 10 years ago it could have been relevant but Axl's attitude has been writing checks his talent cant cash for about 18 years now.
- revmhatt, on 06/23/2008, -2/+15I wonder if this is gonna be the footage that's on The Slip Digipack due out in July.
- OTlevel7, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4most likely, yes.
- kerrijo138, on 07/16/2008, -0/+0This is also on NIN.com & it says
"from a series of five live performances available on the slip limited edition CD/DVD package"
So i'm assuming so.
Woohoo can't wait for my copy to get here!
- bustachops, on 06/23/2008, -11/+5pitchfork.tv is amazing!! i've been addicted since day one
- Krystof82, on 06/23/2008, -3/+86This is better then most music videos out today. So raw and to the point.
- Snokage, on 06/23/2008, -4/+8i didnt know artists still made music videos...since they never get aired, it seems like a waste of time, effort and money.
- MadEnvoy, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Exactly what the RIAA wants.
- Iztikeit, on 06/23/2008, -7/+1Raw? That's true...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoLJJRIWCLU
So let's listen to good music with our raw video instead.
- Snokage, on 06/23/2008, -4/+8i didnt know artists still made music videos...since they never get aired, it seems like a waste of time, effort and money.
- suranwrap, on 06/23/2008, -19/+4is it me, or does it not sound live. It sound pre-recorded.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5It's live. I don't know if you've noticed before, but NIN isn't exactly a basic "rock band", they use sound loops, drum loops, computers, and synths to help form their sound.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/23/2008, -10/+2So its pre-recorded you say?
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3No, it isn't. Because the main guitars, vocals, synths, and drums are all played live. Effects and back up don't count.
- Coffeedemon, on 06/23/2008, -11/+2Whatever. If a band can't recreate their "sound" (and that includes everything that goes into making the original copy) live without pre-recording half of it I have no interest in it and it makes me question the veracity of what they are playing "live".
- Coffeedemon, on 06/23/2008, -10/+2So its pre-recorded you say?
- AriaGloris, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5Also NIN are know for crazy good/clean live performances.
- sleepwalkers, on 06/23/2008, -1/+8It's recorded from the soundboard, so the only thing you're hearing are instruments/vocals, no background noise. It's not an actual live show either, so there's no crowd or anything.
- japface, on 06/23/2008, -6/+1the ***** on his vocals is called delay, maybe thats what sounds pre-recorded to you but its not. its a common simple effect used by pretty well every band.
anyway there are some songs where there is ***** running in the bakcground, and i agree it would be better if they just got in another drummer or synth guy to do those things instead of triggering things.
this is also the absolute worst song off the worst album. talk about sounding really ***** recycled with the lyrics and compositions. last 3 albums have sounded like they were all from the same sessions, just progressively getting less imaginative compositionally. i bet its just bleedthrough out takes or something. this really just sounds like survivalism's chorus slowed down combined with some aspects of the hand that feeds. nin has just become a ***** noise garage band. wtf happened to pushing boundaries? at least nin showed promise with ghosts, too bad it didnt have any real compositions in it -- great sounds, but just a collection of riffs. here's to hoping he really does actually spend some time on the next album. - jagenjg, on 06/23/2008, -4/+1I don't know why you are getting dug down. I guess people just don't want to hear it, but there is no way that is live. With all the instruments playing that close together it would not be so clear. I used to record songs with my band and that was studio clearness.
- japface, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1this is easily the most stripped down nin album yet. theres hardly anything going on... theres the guitar, bass, synths and drums outside of trents vocals. all the tones on this song come out pretty clearly. they also probably have equipment and sound engineers that would destroy what you had, at least i would think. not that i defend the quality of the song writing here.
- artisresistance, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1As mentioned above, everything was fed into a soundboard. To explain further, each channel is separated and is being recorded as such, so there is no noise or bleed between instruments. It's absolutely live.
- TheSnuffster, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2It's recorded through a mixer so it's gunna sound a little less "live" as most people understand the word, although it's definitely live as in the band are all playing together. They're timing is also tight, because there's no doubt they have to stay in time with a sequencer, synth & sampler.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5It's live. I don't know if you've noticed before, but NIN isn't exactly a basic "rock band", they use sound loops, drum loops, computers, and synths to help form their sound.
- johoshua, on 06/23/2008, -3/+10A true Professional @ work!
- soot, on 06/23/2008, -5/+29Is that Josh Freese on drums?
- descentgr, on 06/23/2008, -2/+31yes
- malechite, on 06/23/2008, -1/+9IMO, one of the best rock drummers out there next to Danny Carey
- matthewf01, on 06/23/2008, -1/+4Jimmy Chamberlin
- Tyrghast, on 06/23/2008, -3/+5Mike Portnoy
- pelgi109, on 06/23/2008, -2/+4Chad Smith
- acetv, on 06/23/2008, -0/+11Animal from The Muppets.
- mrhahn, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2He was beaten by the late, great Buddy Rich though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erE8WTngaAY
- mrhahn, on 06/23/2008, -2/+4Dave Grohl
- AngryBacon, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2Alan White
- jaydoj, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4it sure is. This lineup is going to be great. Freese is amazing.
- oxygen911, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6one of the nicest guys in rock too
- Capta1nA, on 06/23/2008, -0/+9With the exception of Ghosts I-IV, Josh Freese has played on everything NIN since I believe the With Teeth tour. Dave Grohl played on that album.
- tzilla12, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1he only played on a few tracks.
- nurvus, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Jerome Dillon was the drummer for the With Teeth tour until around October. 2005 After experiencing irregular heartbeats during a show one night, Dillon left unexpectedly.... Freese took his place for the remainder of the 2005 arena touring.
- coffeeshots, on 06/23/2008, -35/+2they need to change their name to something gayer because this is not NIN
- MillionsLivio, on 06/23/2008, -1/+10How is this not NIN? It's the live band, Trent Reznor is right there singing a song from The Slip...
- PacoDEmu, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6NIN = Trent
Wherever he wants it to go, NIN will always be Trent, everything else is inconsequential. - danwallace, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3You're right. They should call the band coffeeshots and get it over with.
- WhiteMike87, on 06/23/2008, -51/+6NIN ***** sucks. Buried.
- sleepwalkers, on 06/23/2008, -3/+5That's great that you feel that way, but why do you deem it necessary to make your opinion known? Just bury it and move on.
- Brad324, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2s'what I did to his comment.
- WhiteMike87, on 06/23/2008, -6/+2I generally try to follow that ideology, but when a band sucks as much as NIN does, and they somehow seem to keep getting onto the digg home page, something needs to be said.
NIN ***** sucks.- artisresistance, on 06/23/2008, -1/+5And because you said something, everything has changed. Everyone now thinks NIN sucks and they will no longer be front page...oh, wait.
- applemachome, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2why do you deem it necessary to provide an opinionated response to an opinion you don't agree with in that case?
- danwallace, on 06/23/2008, -1/+1You certainly are.
- AmbientMoon, on 06/29/2008, -0/+0Do you need attention that badly that you would come on here and make a comment like that. Go get a psycho girl friend or something.
- sleepwalkers, on 06/23/2008, -3/+5That's great that you feel that way, but why do you deem it necessary to make your opinion known? Just bury it and move on.
- postalblowfish7, on 06/23/2008, -3/+10already have my tickets for the cleveland show!
- PacoDEmu, on 06/23/2008, -1/+4Ditto. You gonna be in the pit or do you have seats?
Maybe I'll have to be a dork and wear my diggnation shirt :P
- PacoDEmu, on 06/23/2008, -1/+4Ditto. You gonna be in the pit or do you have seats?
- TheGreatBelow, on 06/23/2008, -5/+6Awesome.
- footfwd, on 06/23/2008, -4/+6YEEESSS!!!
- bcroghan, on 06/23/2008, -3/+8***** awesome. can't wait for the rest of those to come out.
- matthewrex, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5Wish they were coming to Florida this time around! Great footage! Can't wait for the rest on The Slip DVD!
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -2/+15Glad Robin is back, so much better (as a musician and stage presence) than Aaron North. Glad he replaced Jeordie, as well.
- halogoggles, on 06/23/2008, -4/+11Robin a better musician? Probably, yes. Different styles though. Stage presence? No, sir. Aaron North kills people.
- anaesthetica, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5I disagree about Robin vs. Aaron. I think Robin is a tremendous guitarist and he plays everything Trent composes 100% perfect and then some. Aaron had much more stage presence--no contest. As for his playing style, he didn't play what Trent composed and that was both good and bad. It was fun to hear NIN songs broken down a bit and a little more chaotic live, although it may not be as satisfying for people who want to hear the song as it's supposed to be played.
Makes me think of the big change between Pretty Hate Machine and Broken. In the liner notes to Broken, Trent credits his live band for changing his musical style--whereas the songs he composed on his own for PHM were clean, his live band make them raw and dirty and choatic and messy. I think that was a real key to Trent's musical evolution and one of the reason why Broken and Downward Spiral were so good.
I don't begrudge Trent his choice of Robin over Aaron, but I certainly don't think that one fits more with NIN that the other.
As for his new bassist... I don't know. I think Jeordie has more chops than the bassist from Beck's live band. But I guess we'll see. In any case, I'm happier with Jeordie back in MM.- ghostie, on 06/24/2008, -1/+3Did you hear the video? The stuff they're playing is incredibly simple and very, very uninspired. Yes, they're all great, professional musicians (especially mr. freese), but the music is pretty much staccato power chords and basic rock drumming. Nothing special here, guys. It's really time Trent retires if he's not going to even attempt to evolve.
- anaesthetica, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1I agree, I was disappointed with The Slip. Part of me wishes Trent would go back to his old pace of 3-5 years between releases, just so he could make complex and interesting and unexpected music again.

- bmdubya, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3I love the crew he has assembled. No one is better than Josh Freese. He is such an incredible drummer. He isn't very flashy, he is just very technical. I think every drummer starting out should watch Josh Freese for inspiration.
- leftfield, on 06/23/2008, -2/+10Ahhh so glad to have you back Robin, sorry about those wet shoes.
- destron, on 06/23/2008, -11/+3and he signs his name with a capital G...

- superkeer, on 06/23/2008, -2/+10I always thought that the NIN live act felt the absence of Robin much more than any member that has come and gone.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -1/+2Definitely. The whole line up from TDS - The Fragile was perfect.
- TheWindWaker01, on 06/23/2008, -2/+38great filming, that could've passed as "new NIN music video" if you ask me.
- silent, on 06/23/2008, -3/+1I had the same thought. It was instantly better than the "Discipline" video. (i'm sorry)
- silent, on 06/23/2008, -4/+1I had the same thought. It was instantly better than the "Discipline" video even though I love the song. (i'm sorry)
- anaesthetica, on 06/23/2008, -1/+1Not much different than the official video for "The Hand That Feeds":

- PeckerSlap, on 06/23/2008, -40/+3why does digg likes these guys so much? they suck
- marksy, on 06/23/2008, -3/+9Awesome. Well shot too, lighting is great - nothing too fancy - just focuses on the band and sound. Great sound, mind. m/_
- mattdiggsit, on 06/23/2008, -11/+3BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. THANK YOU AGAIN NIN.
- japface, on 06/23/2008, -6/+2worst song on the worst album in your entire catalogue nin. nice quality video and audio though.
- RRJackson, on 06/23/2008, -2/+11Sweet. They've always been great live, though, in all NIN's incarnations. I still think that Bowie/NIN tour where the bands merged and swapped vocalists during the morph (or whatever you want to call it) from NIN's opening set to Bowie's set was inspired.
- OohChit, on 06/23/2008, -9/+1Yaa! That ROCKS!

- antlerboy, on 06/23/2008, -21/+2reznor hasn't done anything decent since the 90s. maybe im just more partial to his previous associates or maybe im just getting old...
- sleepwalkers, on 06/23/2008, -1/+5Could be a bit of both. In the past three years, he's ventured out and released music that is far more experimental than NIN (and Trent himself, I suppose) has ever been. It's not for everybody, but take a closer listen to Year Zero and The Slip. If you ask me, The Slip combines elements of Broken, TDS, The Fragile and Year Zero all in one neat little package.
- japface, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2i;'d have to say youre kind of wrong in a lot of ways. the past 3 albums compositionally (not ghosts) have been pretty much rehashes of the with teeth style song. nothing wrong with that album its just getting awfully boring and stale with his song writing and lyrics even with impersonal topics. a million miles away? hurt. "once i start i cannot stop myself" -- discipline "nothing can stop me now" -- everything nin before year zero.
yes in terms of production he's done some different things, though the only song that makes me remotely think of the fragile era right now is demon seed with its more progressive feel. its just to obad its not good until the end, the whole first 3/4 of the song has the most boring vocal line.
production on year zero just honestly sounds like laptop plugins, nothing wrong with it, but there was absolutely nothing experimental about it in the big picture. there are tons of people out there that do it, he didnt do anything special with that.
so lately really trent reznor has been far from experimentive -- its just his fans buy into it. he was pushing his boundaries during broken, the downward spiral, and the fragile, because they were vastly different sounding albums. with teeth, year zero and the slip compositionally all sound the same. not only that his vocal style has sounded the same every damn album since with teeth.
i'm pretty much convinced that these are all reworked bleedthrough era out takes cause they really sound like ***** b-sides type material. nothing amazes me from him. i'd rather he went and did a country + opera + whatever else album, at least it would be different and original.

- salomejones, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1You're getting old, just like me. I remember Reznor before he was buff, back when he was a skinny little goth boy like the rest of us. I always imagined his peak right around the time of his early experiments with antique film equipment, right between "broken" and "the downward spiral".
But, kids these days have heads filled with mediocrity like Coldplay, so what the *****. We woulda snapped their arms off Back in the Day in Tompkin's Square. And then had pints with the OIs at the Horseshoe.
God I miss those days. - missybombay, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1Have you listened to Ghosts? It's pretty darn genius. Especially Ghosts IV.

- fishbishop, on 06/23/2008, -7/+3I've got my tickets! Trent rarely disappoints... Can't wait to see them in Worcester, MA. Best date ever too 08-08-08!
- mywhitenoise, on 06/23/2008, -5/+19-9-9 would be better suited.
- koolto, on 06/23/2008, -5/+29NIN rocks so ***** much, it hurts.
- durgahutt, on 06/23/2008, -7/+7That was so good my left nut just blew!! NIN is Awesome.
- gavin422, on 06/23/2008, -3/+22Not a fan of their music, but I really respect what Reznor and the band are doing.
- Iztikeit, on 06/23/2008, -8/+2Agree'd, but I usually get buried so fast for saying that......
- DougieD, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2I've never been much of a fan post-Fragile with his music. However, I probably respect Reznor more now than I ever did when they were my favorite band.
- kevro, on 06/23/2008, -4/+8by putting out those free albums this tour will pay the bills 4 fold because of it. smart. good. thank you.
- JohnnyRhino, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6Exactly, a new business model, seems he hit the nail on the head, so to speak...
- skribble, on 06/23/2008, -14/+6During a NIN concert not so long ago I was a bit disappointed by the lack of raw power that they had exhibited in the past. It seemed much more sterile. Not to mention the way over processed digital "guitar" noise (live and in this video) just annoys me. It's so over processed that I don't even know why they bother with a guitar. Ironically when NIN was newer there wasn't a lot of guitars in the recordings but live they ripped it out with loud Rocking guitars. Now it's just more digital noise.
- jacklopter, on 06/23/2008, -3/+3You're an *****.
- simpleid, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2maybe true, i disagree and agree to an extent, i hear nin from all era's and still hear trent behind it, so the significant details which drive his influence is always there. it's really an adaptive/dynamic progression with him. generally speaking; even if something sounds great now, it can get old, so i appreciate the exploration, it may get worse, it may get better. i like his sounds - i also like new things. so i respect his art, and i take it for what it is.
- skribble, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2I'm not dissing "his art" If I though NIN sucked I wouldn't bother. I'm just saying that A. NIN Live seems more "scripted" and less real then they used to, and B. running a Guitar through so many digital effects and compression, sort of defeats the purpose of playing a guitar in the first place since you digitize out many of the things that make it the instrument special to begin with. (BTW I'm an admitted analog guitar snob, and while I'm not against effects, they should enhance the sound not replace it).
- damndj, on 06/23/2008, -1/+1Have you seen Beside You In Time? Obviously not.
- skribble, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2First, yes, and Second What does that have to do with anything? I saw them during that tour and much of what I saw and heard is what influences my above opinion. This doesn't change so much whether I like NIN's music (I do), It's just a comment and a slight criticism of.
BTW I actually like a a lot of the new stuff (Ghosts).

- Tyrghast, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3They've spent the past 5 years changing their sound, and doing a good job of it. If you don't like it, ***** off. I think Iron Maiden said it best on one of their live albums: "When we were in the studio workin on this, everyone was saying 'you can't have keyboards in Iron Maiden!'. But we did it any way, and we liked it, and if you dont like it GO LISTEN TO SOMETHING ELSE"
