- eastlondoner, on 06/27/2008, -2/+0yes it was good but you do have to be an old ass to find it nostalgic. are you ***** dumb?
- demesisx, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1no you don't have to be old. I am 26.
Which is why I said "somehow nostalgic", dick.

- marksands07, on 06/25/2008, -18/+11That had to take way too much time, but still cool.
- dafragsta, on 06/26/2008, -5/+9How would you have spent the time? Playing video games, drinking, partying? That's the difference between you and an artist. Some people feel their purpose in life is to create, not consume.
- TokenBlack, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5BUZZKILL
- marksands07, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1I didn't say it was wasted time and I don't drink or party. I'll occasionally play a video game now and then. But like I said, this is still freaking cool.
- thh204, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3this coming from someone named "dafragsta"
- dafragsta, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I didn't say I never played video games. I also spent a lot of time making levels and textures too.
- doctechnical, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1Let's not go overboard, this isn't all that creative. Using peripherals to play music has been around before PCs, they used to do it with mainframes and disk drives the size of a washing machine.
Back in the day we'd put an AM radio next to the IMSAI 8080 and write machine code that executed loops to provide the tones on the radio. Played "Daisy".
- DrunkTomato, on 06/26/2008, -3/+1i dont know... probably not as long as you think. it's not like he programed each piece of hardware to play the entire song all the way through. More like he recorded a sample (if even) from each "instrument" and mixed it on a computer, then recorded a sweet video later making it look like everything was actually "playing".
Still flipping sweet and creative, though.
- dafragsta, on 06/26/2008, -5/+9How would you have spent the time? Playing video games, drinking, partying? That's the difference between you and an artist. Some people feel their purpose in life is to create, not consume.
- Quaterni0n, on 06/25/2008, -1/+55I remember using a program on the C64 that could play music using the floppy drive. That thing was so ***** loud. :)
- omenmedia, on 06/26/2008, -0/+19Yeah I remember one I had for my Amiga 500... I think it played the Star-Spangled Banner using the drive head. Also had a big disclaimer saying "NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO DISK DRIVE".
- GrooTheWanderer, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0I had a program on my A500 called "Floppy Music" that played El Condor Pasa on the internal floppy drive.
- 5plic3r, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1That was thanks to the C64's MOS6581 chip. Here's a wicked synthesizer built around the chip:

I know the guy that ***** made it, and he did so a couple of weeks ago. and considering this video hasn't made it to the front page before, what's the point of posting that kind of inconsiderate comment?- jlphoenix, on 06/26/2008, -1/+12maybe im wrong, but im pretty sure that i saw that video like 1 month ago... and this is the digg link that probes it

- jlphoenix, on 06/26/2008, -1/+12maybe im wrong, but im pretty sure that i saw that video like 1 month ago... and this is the digg link that probes it
- zulfy26, on 06/26/2008, -6/+38He means the technology used to create it is old. (Explaining jokes usually kills them /sadface)
- Alucard66, on 06/26/2008, -1/+10no im pretty sure he means that its old as in the way the first post interpreted it but maybe not...

- nemojonze, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3I think it was on the front page last week
- DJafrodijiak, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3on another note, the tone of the scanner bass is phenomenal.. i'm gonna use it.
- dmerc, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1Can they add a "This is Old" to the Bury drop down box??
- skyroket, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Why the ***** does everyone keep going on about how old ***** is? Being new isn't a requirement for a Digg article. Digg is what we make it. By saying "old" you're just showing how much of a douchebag you are, since the article obviously got a significant amount of Diggs regardless of its age.
Go to the upcoming section of Digg and go post "old" on some of the old ***** that NOBODY DIGGS BECAUSE IT'S OLD.
- thestrokes, on 06/26/2008, -17/+12how is this old?
- jscnet, on 06/26/2008, -25/+2What the ***** is that level 3 retard *****?

- n0deal, on 06/26/2008, -8/+112Duplicate. Original post: http://digg.com/music/Radiohead_s_Nude_played_by_o ...
- speakafreaka, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6it got to the front page before too?
- sup34dog, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3I saw this about that long ago on Engadget.
They had a link to a better-quality version:
http://www.vimeo.com/1109226 - haleym, on 06/26/2008, -5/+14I have to say - how is it that someone can have the audacity to not only dupe-submit something, but dupe-submit it when the link to the original submission is right there in the article itself? And, furthermore, how is it that Diggers, upon viewing the video and seeing the link to the original submission, still digg the dupe instead (including, apparently, Kevin Rose himself)?
I guess no one in this day and age believes in giving credit where credit is due anymore. Sad.- LoveYouSomeEric, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7Does it really matter who Dugg is first and when and who's sumission gets what Diggs? Who cares as long as the article in question gets viewed by as many people as would care to view it? Isn't that really the whole point of Digg, and not who gets the most cool points for submitting the most stories that make it to the front page?

- Kvasaari, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9Lots of people (including me) would have missed this gem without duplicate-submit. Going to digg the original too.
- Ibox, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3I agree, this is the first time I've seen this, and if it wern't submitted this time around I would not have seen it... I blame all this on my girlfriend, if we wernt screwing all the time I would have more time to see every submission to digg.
- kjcdude, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Holy ***** that got 738 diggs and didn't make it to the front page.
- skyroket, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Note: the song begins about 1:07 in.
- haruuii, on 06/26/2008, -9/+15dugg for radiohead~
- jp12380, on 06/26/2008, -1/+88Sucks that he missed the deadline.
- AlexanderZero, on 06/26/2008, -0/+18Yeah there's no way he wouldn't have won.
- chicken59, on 06/26/2008, -4/+3I don't think they'd play that in a club.
- FoxOrian, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Still, that makes one hell of a well done final project for his school.
- neftaly, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2He didn't even have to enter the contest to be the winner.
- nshady, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4They mentioned him on the official blog though, which is pretty awesome.
- ophello, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4What the hell does this have to do with graphic design? If I submitted this as my final project, I would fail.
- pukiman, on 06/26/2008, -19/+7You people (that dugg this) are retarded, or ***** blind (get them glasses already Kevin Rose). How hard was it to click on the already existing digg link, on the SAME ***** PAGE you dugg? DUPE!
http://digg.com/music/Radiohead_s_Nude_played_by_o ...- thestrokes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+11Yeah, that one was submitted by the guy who made it. Digg that one up.
- latinjones, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Why? Does he get royalties?
Sorry, This was the first link I came across.
- latinjones, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Why? Does he get royalties?
- thestrokes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+11Yeah, that one was submitted by the guy who made it. Digg that one up.
- BonersMilloy, on 06/26/2008, -45/+1Radiohead isn't good.
- kru1e, on 06/26/2008, -3/+14The description really gives a good in site to how difficult this was to remix with a lower BPM.
- blkrabit, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7in site ≠ insight
- dafragsta, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3The time signature had a hell of a lot more to do with it than the BPM. Most sequencers are biased toward 4/4.
- jeriqo, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Most?
Which? - Zenham, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Nope, they aren't. Any time signature is possible in almost any modern sequencing software. I've sequenced a jazz piece in 9/8.
This isn't a remix, It's technically a cover (new instruments playing the tune via software).- skyroket, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Who wants to listen to 9/8???
- Zenham, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Fans of Dave Brubeck, Bela Bartok, and the Beatles, to name a few. They've all had popular success with tunes in 9/8.
- eastlondoner, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Most sequencers dont give a ***** where the beats and bars go.
- jeriqo, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Most?
- socoolisme, on 06/26/2008, -17/+4It was kinda BS2000-ish but it sucked.
- aforce369, on 06/26/2008, -1/+16I like this video more as opposed to the original youtube submission... it's of a higher quality in both video and audio departments... well done!
- JohnsonGotOwned, on 06/26/2008, -8/+9Brilliant, although I could name a few songs I'd rather hear in this kind of method.
- nmnnotmyname, on 06/26/2008, -2/+18I'd say it was poor sounding but it was actually not that bad considering the absolutely insane hardware they used to do it.
- RevEng, on 06/26/2008, -4/+1Read the artist's comments. The original song is, among other things, in 5/4; terrible for being remixed. Knowing this, he designed his entry in the same way; it gets the job done, but none of the things are really suited to the job, thus is intentionally sounds terrible.
- peterjmag, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I believe the time signature you're looking for is 6/8. However, the Kid A version of Morning Bell is in 5/4, and 5/4 is also "terrible for being remixed."
- nmnnotmyname, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I read it... So what? Poor sounding is poor sounding. It's still amazing, though.

- siddred, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4very innovative!! some should make radiohead hear this.
- Nature1, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5They actually found this and posted it on their website quite a while back... -_-
- mastazed, on 06/26/2008, -2/+5pure genius. i have all of the equipment he used at home, all i would think do with it would be filming myself throwing it of my roof and putting it up on youtube. i recon he should receive special consideration even though its past deadline.
- stopple, on 06/26/2008, -1/+34it's amazing how the beauty of the song comes through even when played like this...
- tschau, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1It really is.
- EatChex89, on 06/26/2008, -1/+11wow. i am a big fan of electronic music, especially glitch music, and radiohead. This was amazing x 2!
- Tyrghast, on 06/26/2008, -38/+2Too bad radiohead is nothing but no-talent losers. Play from your ***** heart, we need more bands like Rush and Queen.
- stopple, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5roll wisdom check vs troll
- chicken59, on 06/26/2008, -3/+1Yeah definitely man. You can have talent, creativity, and revolutionary music, but if you don't play from your heart then you're *****.
- Tyrghast, on 06/26/2008, -4/+1Creativity? All of their songs sound the same. Revolutionary? Please, they've done nothing to break the frame. Talent? Simple lyrics, simple guitar/bass/keyboards, simple drums, all following the same format song after song. boring.
- Nature1, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Have you not seen them live, at least in videos? Not only is their music AMAZING, but they go effing insane... Thom Yorke just freaks out. It's wonderful to see their passion.
- spriggig, on 06/26/2008, -4/+94My nerd card would be taken away if I didn't digg this.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+42It takes a long time to get mailed a new one from nerd central office. One weekend I played a little too much Halo and drank a Coors. Upon 'fist bumping' a friend upon a win, Bill Gates had his guys kick the door down, walked in and took my nerd license. They ripped it up right in front of me. I had to play D&D for 3 weeks straight to get it back.
- Fludd777, on 06/26/2008, -12/+5I listened to that and all I got was this stupid headache.
- bipolarruledout, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Radiohead isn't for everyone.
- Olivaise, on 06/26/2008, -1/+10My only hope is that Radiohead would accept a late entry.
- MikeSetera, on 06/26/2008, -2/+16Radiohead is great; Nude is one of their most beautiful songs.
Motion Picture Soundtrack next please. - Aero347, on 06/26/2008, -4/+21I just got a boner listening to that.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+12I got 2!
- mordea, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4Please elaborate, kind sir. Did you get a boner, then get soft and get another boner, or did you get a boner of your own along with another person's boner who was watching it with you? Digg really wants to know.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6Yes.

- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+82Wow.. For a minute there, I lost myself.
- thestrokes, on 06/26/2008, -3/+14Nice reference.
Very nice.- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3Please forget the words that I've just blurted out. It wasn't me, it was my strange and creeping doubt.
- Nature1, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Buzzes like a fridge....
Also has one of the best videos.
- thestrokes, on 06/26/2008, -3/+14Nice reference.
- pe5t1lence, on 06/26/2008, -6/+11Cool, but can it do Smoke on the Water?
- peterjmag, on 06/26/2008, -0/+10No, but the all-new Dodge Avenger can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g07AarNDNk
(I ***** hate that commercial.)- pe5t1lence, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1Damn I watched it :( now you've ruined my day!
- FACT, on 06/26/2008, -1/+0at least it was creative?
- peterjmag, on 06/26/2008, -0/+10No, but the all-new Dodge Avenger can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g07AarNDNk
- SmallBalls, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4If you work in a office, this actually makes scanners/printers cool and not a jamming POS.
Reminds me of Dial up. - rumblestrut, on 06/26/2008, -1/+23Even if its a dupe, I didn't see it the first time. Thanks for digging it again. I'm better off having seen it.
- ciphex, on 06/26/2008, -3/+1excellent!
- anchora, on 06/26/2008, -1/+16Note to self: duplicate Thom Yorke's voice with hard drives, create album, sell millions of them.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+11Props for not using the Profit meme.
- mparker7410, on 06/26/2008, -0/+11The replicated voice with hard drives, how in the hell? Everything else is very impressive, but the hard drives I found /really/ impressive. Nice!
- dougmc, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9Once upon a time, hard drives used stepper motors to position their heads.
Then somebody realized that voice coils could do the same thing, faster and better.
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/op/actActuator-c.ht ...
The voice coils are basically just like speakers, but instead of moving the paper cone in and out, they move the drive heads back and forth. So it's not really surprising that they can work like really crummy speakers :)
Either way, I have to concur -- very impressive. No single part of it really stuck out so much, but the whole was definitely more than the sum of it's parts. And props to Radiohead, for coming up with an idea for a contest that spawned this masterpiece (and therefore promoted their song in a fun way.)

- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3We'll be the ones who hate you when you think you've got the world all sussed out.
We'll be the ones who spit at you. You'll be the one screaming out.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3We'll be the ones who hate you when you think you've got the world all sussed out.
- requiem4themind, on 06/26/2008, -2/+28I'm surprised that very few people are in as much awe as I am right now. This was incredible.
- ch4os1337, on 06/26/2008, -2/+5This has been added to my favorite stories on digg.
- bones_, on 06/26/2008, -3/+4Mind blowing to be honest =)
- Heinekren, on 06/26/2008, -2/+7Beats Holy *****'s effort by a margin.
I'm really fond of the hard drive "vocals"... they sound like hallow transmissions from space.- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6I think it sounds like something Radiohead would have done on OK Computer.
- Nature1, on 06/26/2008, -3/+2This makes me think you have never listened to anything else of theirs... Maybe Kid A, if anything.
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1I currently have every album on my mp3 player. It's just an opinion, you ***** elitist. To be honest OK Computer is the album I have listened to the very least.
- Nature1, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Hey, don't get all defensive, it was just a thought.
But, I have all of their albums too and Kid A is definitely the most experimental of them all, in my opinion. - DforSpiD, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4Kid A was my favourite though

- eSentrik, on 06/26/2008, -2/+2how would some do this? must be a lot of trial and error!
Impressive. Most impressive. - pakakapa, on 06/26/2008, -13/+3annoying noise ends/music starts at around 1:10
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5Kevin Rose got buried for repeating the description. Why do you think you'll get away with it?
- bouche, on 06/26/2008, -3/+59I just reported kevin rose... what the hell is going to happen to me?
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+12Digg will collapse on itself like a dying star. Thanks :(
