- sunniershine, on 10/11/2008, -5/+63Reminds me of college.
- darylyounge, on 10/12/2008, -36/+5Reminds me of *****.
- KungFuJ35u5, on 10/12/2008, -28/+1Did you do heroin in college? Because that's what that song is about.
- starphish, on 10/12/2008, -2/+25Songs from my youth remind me of my youth.
- clubspecial9989, on 10/12/2008, -2/+13the song is about getting off heroin, not doing heroin...
- lazerflesh, on 10/12/2008, -2/+5Wow, I never knew that. My Mom played this song to get me to shut up in the car all the time.
Thanks for ruining my childhood you terrible person you.
- missingship, on 10/12/2008, -0/+11Reminds me of being 5 years old. Damn, time flies.
- homercles337, on 10/12/2008, -16/+1Me too, i hated them then and still hate them now. They have to be the most over rated band of all time.
- amishcabdriver, on 10/12/2008, -8/+6I believe Nirvana fills those shoes.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6U2 would object
- MforMike, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2nah nickelback has them all beat
- mebizzle, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2Radiohead is the correct answer.
- badwithcomputer, on 10/11/2008, -3/+228classic.
- salomejones, on 10/12/2008, -2/+55Nobody makes music like that anymore. Damn kids.
- bigmac375, on 10/12/2008, -1/+9come home dad
- aydoubleyou, on 10/12/2008, -1/+20Not true. You just dont know where to look.
Stop listening to public radio (an exception of some stations can be made) and MTV. They dont represent quality music anymore. - jlungu, on 10/12/2008, -1/+2even the RHCP don't make music like that anymore ... they've become californicated ...
- Chachuka, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Not true.
If you want to see *new* good music made by "kids", I recommend:
Hiromi Uehara
Umphrey's McGee
John Mayer
Note that this is how a lot of good music is spread: by friends recommending music to friends... In my experience this has proven to be very effective. The best music that I enjoy listening to was recommended to me.
- darylyounge, on 10/12/2008, -23/+3Classic *****.
- Ductapemaster, on 10/12/2008, -2/+7I'm a kid and I completely agree with that...mainstream music sucks these days.
- JamesMatt, on 10/12/2008, -9/+3ehh i think your forgetting this classic from 87 before under the bridge............... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI
- stackered, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1im obsessed with RHCP this was a gift to me from the Digg community
re-sparked my love for digg between seeing only political arguements and lolcats
- salomejones, on 10/12/2008, -2/+55Nobody makes music like that anymore. Damn kids.
- basye, on 10/11/2008, -1/+14Yeah, yeah!
- Rikushix, on 10/11/2008, -6/+127My god. Dugg for RHCP.
edit: really weird hearing that song without the choral background near the end though.- kyanit3, on 10/12/2008, -6/+4I still hate them for what they did to Mr. Bungle. Mike Patton is a better vocalist anyway.
- KardboardRobot, on 10/11/2008, -8/+22I am so using this to learn the song on guitar the RIGHT way.
- Ledwolf555, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Us this one too....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU_sxusyuoI - Baxident, on 10/12/2008, -3/+8Or this amazing invention called...tabs!
- JustinHopewell, on 10/12/2008, -0/+20Tabs are more useful in showing the chords to play, but as far as rhythm and style, better to watch it performed.
- mingusmingus, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7it's a lot more satisfying and better training for your ears if you learn by playing along to a record/video/whatever.
you'll learn to recognize certain intervals and chords, and eventually you'll know (roughly) how to play something before actually playing it. - dullnation, on 10/12/2008, -1/+2You have to get to a certain level before learning a song simply by ear is even practical in the first place. I'm a total n00b, sometimes I'll be messing around with barre chords, trying to get something that sounds nice and accidentally come across something that sounds like another song and work it out from there but I'd never be able to listen and figure it out. Not a song seemingly as complex as Under The Bridge anyway...
- Buchanan439, on 10/12/2008, -1/+3Tabs are never really 100% correct and I play at the level where I want to be able to play the song exactly as it was written, not a simplified version. So it's vids and ears for me.
- PolicePeople, on 10/12/2008, -3/+2If you are serious about music in any capacity, you would be doing yourself a HUGE favor by learning standard notation as well - regardless of what style of music you prefer.
- Chachuka, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3Heh, he doesn't play it the "right" way there... the best musicians play it differently each time :-)
- spazmotron, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Yes, its best to use tabs for this song like I did otherwise you be at it for months.
- Ledwolf555, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Us this one too....
- Tophillious, on 10/12/2008, -50/+7Is this the part where everyone starts submitting music to digg?
- dullnation, on 10/12/2008, -0/+46It's better than a lot of the other ***** that hits front page...
- awfulgrace, on 10/12/2008, -0/+22Hopefully - this is great.
- AaronH, on 10/12/2008, -4/+144I submitted this video a long time ago. I am glad someone could get it to the front page.
- frieddonuts, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4It's refreshing to hear that instead of "DUPE! OMG bury now plz."
- Garlik, on 10/12/2008, -1/+23This is the version that finally convinced me that I needed to learn it on guitar, which is what I did.
- noots, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7ive been playing for about 3 months and could only attempt to play it by cheating and using a capo on the 2nd. It's pretty hard imo.
- Garlik, on 10/12/2008, -2/+4I've been playing for about three years and it's actually not too hard. Hitting the hammer ons and pull offs makes it sound a lot more interesting and difficult than it actually is, but once you get the hang of it, it's fun to play. Whenever I'm messing around with my guitar and I'm not sure what to play, I just start playing Under the Bridge.
Also, a capo is a no-no in this song. - thestereofield, on 10/12/2008, -2/+3yeah it is not easily done after only playing for 3 months. try again after a year
- lbdinh, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4The notes are easy, it's the rhythm that's the tricky part. Don't believe me? Try playing it with a metronome. Took me about a week to learn it (not in any means to perfection), and I've been playing for 4+ years.
Stairway is easy...IMHO.

- jefree, on 10/12/2008, -2/+88I don't know... I think the B string was a little flat. Ha!
- ventralnet, on 10/12/2008, -16/+1yea its weird hearing it on a piece of ***** guitar.
- LenBaird, on 10/12/2008, -4/+5It sounded like ***** (sort of) because he's right, it was out of tune.
- darylyounge, on 10/12/2008, -17/+1It sounded like ***** because it is *****.
- leif77, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Its a martin... none of em sound bad if they're over 800
- ventralnet, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1That is not a martin guitar... Looking at the head stock it looks to be a fender.
- rompom7, on 10/12/2008, -3/+16@ventralnet & LenBaird: An impromptu acoustic rendition on the streets of Amsterdam... It's not supposed to sound perfect. It is still awesome to listen to though.
I heart John Frusciante.- bandoftheweek, on 10/12/2008, -3/+6Since when is it ok to not tune your guitar?
It's nothing major though. I wouldn't have noticed unless it was pointed out. - Nappuccino, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Sometimes, totally in tune music can sound a little lifeless, if you know what I mean. Hell, piano strings are intentionally slightly out of tune to get a fuller sound.
- bandoftheweek, on 10/12/2008, -3/+6Since when is it ok to not tune your guitar?
- ventralnet, on 10/12/2008, -16/+1yea its weird hearing it on a piece of ***** guitar.
- ilessthan3pi, on 10/12/2008, -9/+94Dugg for RHCP
- GregFD3S, on 10/12/2008, -3/+1Dugg your comment for RHCP.
- golddigga, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1dugg for old skool rhcp
- woohaaar, on 10/12/2008, -2/+11Dugg for the shades and dungaree get up...oh yeah and the tune
- m4csrgh3yk3v, on 10/12/2008, -5/+12Goddamn it, I just saw House and that P.I. dude rip into some blues, now this.
Way to rub in that I don't have time to learn an instrument right now.- citizensARREST, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7There's always time.
- citizensARREST, on 10/12/2008, -6/+0There's always time.
- nofrickenway, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5It's better to play guitar than to whistle on the toilet.
- AlucardZero, on 10/13/2008, -1/+0If you spent all the time you spend on digg, you'll be better than Frusciante here.
- dtpollitt, on 10/12/2008, -2/+89dugg for overalls.
- Flashtone, on 10/12/2008, -0/+10Back around that time if you didn't have a pair with one strap hanging off then you just had no clue.
- geneusutwerk, on 10/12/2008, -18/+4Well if we are just posting acoustic songs we like.

The Minutemen playing History Lesson Part II- KarateMedia, on 10/12/2008, -4/+3Screw everyone else for digging you down. The Minutemen were 100x the band that RHCP could ever be.
Dugg for being a unique performance of a song that wasn't rammed down my throat by every radio station and MTV. - iceman989, on 10/12/2008, -2/+1you just dont get it do you.
- KarateMedia, on 10/12/2008, -4/+3Screw everyone else for digging you down. The Minutemen were 100x the band that RHCP could ever be.
- trixyfox, on 10/12/2008, -8/+39Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
- Flashtone, on 10/12/2008, -3/+81you and 95% of all diggers.
- thebrokenlight, on 10/12/2008, -1/+16Very original.
- kc0jsf, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3@thebrokenlight... what does the pot call the kettle?
- Flashtone, on 10/12/2008, -3/+81you and 95% of all diggers.
- mediaspree, on 10/12/2008, -12/+6What are they doing in Amsterdam (besides pot and hookers)
- thePTS, on 10/12/2008, -1/+10definitely not a concert or something like that.
- honeymustardn, on 10/12/2008, -1/+6I think you answered your own question.
- rikwakefield, on 10/12/2008, -1/+15Singing a kick ass song?
- PolarZoe, on 10/12/2008, -0/+15Pot and Hookers aren't the only things we have here you know :-P
- illt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4yeh youv'e got mushrooms and van gogh.
- FadieZ, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2And pot.
- chaosgroove, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2What is anybody doing anywhere?
- kilya218, on 10/12/2008, -13/+7Anthony's voice back then could compete with the best of them. Beautiful. Thanks!
- Gregus1032, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5and it's gotten worse?
- kilya218, on 10/12/2008, -3/+1No, not worse, but different. I still enjoy his voice now, but I preferred it back then.
- ZachTorpy, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4In contrast, RHCP's first albums had Anthony screaming and yelling. He actually started "singing" with the release of Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
His voice sounded best to me on Californication, but everyone has their preference :]
- svivian, on 10/12/2008, -2/+9Are you serious? That was so out of tune.
- kilya218, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Well, the guitar was out of tune. You try singing to that.
- Gregus1032, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5and it's gotten worse?
- muleskinner, on 10/12/2008, -2/+3Thanks for bringing them back into my mind. I'm going to go did up some more of their work, its been to long.
Dugg.- nycmac247, on 10/12/2008, -4/+5too
- muleskinner, on 10/12/2008, -2/+7***** you Spelling-Nazi. ;P
- nycmac247, on 10/12/2008, -4/+5too
- halfwayentropy, on 10/12/2008, -15/+4dugg for nostalgia (for when the chili peppers were good).
- Ledwolf555, on 10/12/2008, -1/+6They still are... maybe not quite the same caliber of work, but SO much above a lot of the pap that's being spewed out of many record labels.
- goosegoosegoose, on 10/12/2008, -2/+1No, they aren't
- xFied, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1stadium arcadium was good. Actually my fav Rhcp song is Snow
- efitz11, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1wet sand ftw
- Ledwolf555, on 10/12/2008, -1/+6They still are... maybe not quite the same caliber of work, but SO much above a lot of the pap that's being spewed out of many record labels.
- tallulahvulture, on 10/12/2008, -8/+2how is this on the front page?
bill will be so happy. - CarStan, on 10/12/2008, -4/+204lets see Britney or Kate Perry or any other of the current 'stars' of this crappy decade do somehting like this.
I miss the 90's- citizensARREST, on 10/12/2008, -3/+30The 90's were awesome, man...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sd0C_Us31kk- palmdalian, on 10/12/2008, -3/+13I hate you citizensARREST.
I just spent the last 30 minutes watching that video, looking up Hanson on wikipedia, and visiting the Hanson website.
My life will never be the same. - etjrowe, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4dick.
- skit4king, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5yeah, that chick was pretty hot...wait...NOooooo
- ReidFleming, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4I don't know what reaction you were going for. I was never a Hanson fan but I respect the fact that they wrote and performed a catchy song by themselves. Props for talent at least.
- palmdalian, on 10/12/2008, -3/+13I hate you citizensARREST.
- bluecc, on 10/12/2008, -4/+6Perry did I Kissed a Girl acoustic on the Howard Stern Show
- devmode, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7and well
- Battlecry, on 10/12/2008, -1/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ_o-T9cg2k
- jotate, on 10/12/2008, -2/+26Eh, the whole boy band thing happened in the 90s. A grain of salt needs to be had whenever thinking about music in the 90s.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/13/2008, -2/+1At least it was better than the 80s.
The 60s-70s rule over all other periods though.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/13/2008, -2/+1At least it was better than the 80s.
- solid12345, on 10/12/2008, -7/+3Yeah well i'd rather watch Katie Perry bounce around on camera than Flea anyday even if he is more talented!
- ZachTorpy, on 10/12/2008, -3/+6Radiohead's still got it.
(if you can call them stars, sadly most of today's youth would rather listen to Souldja Bitch. most don't even know "what a Radiohead" is) - solid12345, on 10/12/2008, -3/+1Yeah digg me down for being a warm-blooded male, thanks diggers!
- ReidFleming, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Go buy a pr0n mag, solid12345. Substance over style when it comes to music, anyday. "Paranoid Android" live for anybody that cares: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzSXTMUe0Do
- ZachTorpy, on 10/12/2008, -3/+6Radiohead's still got it.
- Albaster, on 10/12/2008, -2/+1Let's rather see Amy Winehouse. It will be a lot more fun.
- Cottrell36thAIR, on 10/12/2008, -9/+1I am sorry but the 90's and the 80's were MOSTLY sad times from Music, I will give you the occasional good thing like rhcp and queen etc, but the vast majority was pretty terrible. Anyway I think the 00's have a lot of great music, discounting pop, trance, and emo. All have their good points, but its hard to judge the whole of a decade with genres lol... Ignore what I said.
- alexkball, on 10/12/2008, -8/+3Oh whatever the Chili Peppers are no better than any of the crap on the radio these days...all of their songs sound the same.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2008, -2/+3You, sir, couldn't have picked a worse band to say that about. I'm not a huge RHCP fan, but even I realize that you're flat out wrong. It's not your opinion, you're simply wrong.
- JaysonthePirate, on 10/12/2008, -4/+1Paramore is pretty amazing live. Just saying.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiR838VOCrA- mooseburger3000, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5Pop-punk is a terrible genre. Just saying.
- skippyrandom, on 10/12/2008, -0/+5oh god, 13 million views for that? shoot me now.
- danthemanhan, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1bang
- Dwebtron, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Few things. First of all, I logged in just to comment this. Second. I happen to have the misfortune of seeing paramore live, and guess what? They're pretty much the worst ***** thing I've ever seen. That includes tubgirl, two girls one cup, and my dog throwing up on a wet rawhide bone then ***** diarrhea everywhere. With the exception of the amazing bangability of the lead singer, I was appalled at how... whats the word? GAY the ENTIRE BAND is, which says something since I'm voting Democrat this election.
Third, You heard it here first, that lead singer is gunna Gwen-Stefani the ***** out of that band's dumb-ass and they'll be history just like the gay-rights movement.
Watch.
- futebollounge, on 10/12/2008, -2/+6guys just do some research and you will find amazing bands!
Strokes, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Justice, Libertines, and most recently, Fleet Foxes
of course there are many others! but these will be the talked about ones in the 2010's - DotGet, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2True. I only discovered Elliott Smith just a year ago, but he's become my favorite artist since then.
I haven't liked Nirvana much sinch High school, but he did an awesome job of getting me through my angsty phase intact, though I think he died even before I'd heard a single song of his.- citizensARREST, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2dugg for Elliott - he was the man
- loudog40, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Agreed. Yet the first thing you think of when it comes to 90's music is Hanson? Wtf.
- obliviousfool, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1The '90s made the 60's look like the 50's (at least for me.)
- citizensARREST, on 10/12/2008, -3/+30The 90's were awesome, man...
- LanEvo, on 10/12/2008, -14/+2dugg for sloppy and untuned riffage
- musntSurfatWork, on 10/12/2008, -5/+23I just played this on Rockband last night, their whole BSSM album is up for grabs. I still need to buy a real guitar, and stop this hammering nonsense of 5 colored fret buttons.
- junkwheel, on 10/12/2008, -1/+18You won't believe how easy it is when you switch to 6 tuned strings, 21 frets, ten fingers, a language based on math, latin, and music history, and when your strumming hand is just as important as your fretting hand.
- ramblinwreck45, on 10/12/2008, -4/+1its a lot better - therefore i only play rock band drums because i can play real guitar
- opmike, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2I play a real guitar, also. I also enjoy Rock Band. Does playing a real instrument mean we're not supposed to enjoy a video game anymore? I must have missed the memo.
- theradical, on 10/12/2008, -3/+43it's easy to forget that at one time, mainstream bands (contemporary RHCP included) were actually capable of creating good music.
- Chachuka, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1the best bands are the ones you accept for who they are.
- hobbler, on 10/12/2008, -0/+9The guitar on this ranks up there with Yellow Ledbetter for me. Now to go watch that on Youtube.
- digitalpencil, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1live@madison performance has to be the best.. God Love Pearl Jam!!
- Cilicious, on 10/12/2008, -0/+21Some might call it raggedy-ass, others would praise it as raw immediacy.
Regardless, I love it,and the Chilis.
They both look so young, especially Frusciante.- potifar, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Frusciante was 21...
- fruscianteisgod, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Frusciante is god check out his solo work
- xkingADROCKx, on 10/12/2008, -19/+6RHCP before they were *****.
- xkingADROCKx, on 10/12/2008, -7/+1Come on, you're lying to yourself if you thought Stadium Arcadium was good, all of their songs off their recent albums sound the same. Compared to their old stuff their new music is utter dross.
- goosegoosegoose, on 10/12/2008, -4/+3The fact that you're getting Dugg down really shows that most Diggers are preppy goons who think Snow is their generation's crowning achievement.
- tehWhisp, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3No, it's moreover the fact that you are giving a title to people with certain music tastes. Who the hell cares if someone thinks an album is good. Worry about yourself before you try and speak for everyone.
- xkingADROCKx, on 10/12/2008, -7/+1Come on, you're lying to yourself if you thought Stadium Arcadium was good, all of their songs off their recent albums sound the same. Compared to their old stuff their new music is utter dross.
- thejoker86, on 10/12/2008, -3/+5i saw this many years ago... so awsome... pot/drugs is involved you can all tell... dugg though so more can see
- ChayesFSS, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Now that takes me back...
- lucutus, on 10/12/2008, -2/+16Yeah man It did sound a bit out of tune. Not too badly though. Just a little flat ;)
- livefromheaven, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Yeah, that's old school Anthony for ya. I still love it though.
- vector66, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6A sweet, sweet rendition. Thanks a bunch.
- MortalynFlux, on 10/12/2008, -0/+23Performances like this can capture a mood like no studio recording can. And it's pretty incredible that they sound this tight in such a casual environment without the aid of recording producers.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2I'm not sure how "tight" they sound, with both members being out of tune.
- Platysquirrel, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2It sounded good and you both know it.
- grungegbunny, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3Wow loved this song then, love it now. Great find.
- djphilos, on 10/12/2008, -4/+16Is he wearing a cooking apron?
- iamjero, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Still sounds as good as the first time i heard this song.

- userperson, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Chili peppers isn't even the whole story.
http://tr.im/nlt if you were not aware - GrayToGreen, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Better than RHCP IMHO
- fruscianteisgod, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1frusciantes solowork is incredible
- userperson, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Chili peppers isn't even the whole story.
- somebritishdude, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4great song, but man, I wish he had tuned his guitar before recording...
- Palmeiro, on 10/12/2008, -0/+4He's so good at guitar.
- pantone287, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Damn good performance. Damn they are young. Back when pop music didn't suck satan's *****.
- Shakermaker, on 10/12/2008, -11/+8RHCP are a great band - 3 of the best musicians in bands today.
Too bad Anthony Kiedis can't hold a note in a bucket. Dude can't sing.- livefromheaven, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2He's gotten much better. I'd agree with you about the old ***** though. Read his autobiography and you'll quickly find out what he was doing other rather than practicing.
- AlucardZero, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Watch californication at SLANE CASTLE on youtube, then rethink.
- murph1004, on 10/12/2008, -1/+41Frusciante > everyone else
- Misfit192, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1I could not agree more, he is my favorite person and musician
- fruscianteisgod, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2i have a gay man crush on him and his solo work has convinced me that he is the closest thing to god
- Chachuka, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah I guess you're right.
- mauchage, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1Zakk Wylde > Frusciante > everyone else
- stackered, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2Flea > almost everyone else (Les Claypool...)
Frusciante > almost everyone else
Kiedis = one of most versatile and best voices out there
Chad Smith = amazing drummer
RHCP = Gods. Amazing flow together, and they mix all styles of music. I've been obsessed with them since I was a little kid, but they are truly the best band on paper and in reality in my opinion at least.
- pantone287, on 10/12/2008, -3/+7One of the best songs ever. What an amazing band.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ove5_eQTgpw&feature ... - ZephyrNinety, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6They're good live and good even when they play completely unplanned. They really are something so rare and special I'm lucky to to around on earth to see them still alive.
- Paranimal, on 10/12/2008, -2/+5what ever did happen to music? does anyone think it will ever come back around? I feel that the best music was from 1989-1998 after that everything has gotten so fake, Im glad some of the artist from that time are still around and there is some stuff thats ok, but u really have to "digg" for good music these days....even hip hop was decent at one point and now everything sucks...I want 90s rock again!!
- mingusmingus, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7music's still happening, man.
you've just got to find it and quit being an old man, looking at music through your old man goggles.
here's a gift for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gke4USY8EE- Paranimal, on 10/12/2008, -1/+0well thats what i said, isn't it? u have to look for it, you didnt always have to look for good music, when music was good, 90% of the music out there today and what they play on the radio is crap... like the video of the band you sent me would probably not be played on most radio stations because its not "main stream"... main stream use to be good, main stream today sucks balls
- feignNU, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2I'm not sure mainstream music has ever been particularly good. I mean yeah there's classic stuff, but it's really just the tip of the iceberg of good music. Most of the best stuff is not radio friendly.
- marca17, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2Get off my lawn, damn kids!
- jstearns, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1The Whigs.
- smashingmonkey, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Paranimal, are you Bob Seger? The best music was from 1989-1998??
Listen, I like this song just fine, but just because the popular channels aren't playing songs to match your somewhat narrow tastes doesn't mean there isn't excellent music happening all over the place in every genre. And you hardly have to dig.
Of course the popular channels are rotting. Who the hell needs them in the digital age?- Paranimal, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Its just my opinion I stated what "I feel", where does Bob Seger come in? and I just because I like rock doesnt mean my taste in music is narrow, I listen to a lot of jazz, big band, and whole wide range of music... but im sorry music today is so manufactured the "real music" is hard to find... most of the best new stuff to listen to is from local bands, some live bands and things you cant buy from itunes.... If you were take the mainstream music from the decade of 2000-2010 and compared it to mainstream music from any other decade after 1920, it would be hard to argue that it wouldnt come in last... thats my point mainstream is so damn awful right now, more awful than its ever been
- smashingmonkey, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1OK, I agree that mainstream is particularly awful these days. The Bob Seger comment is a reference to his most famous song in which he bitches about "today's music" and yearn for that old time rock...
Believe me, I know well the frustration you feel with the current *****, as I devote hours a day learning my craft, which happens to be a jazz genre which is unpopular even for jazz music. To rub some vinegar in the wound, these modern entertainers seem intent on referring to themselves as artists over and over.
It's hard to believe that swing was once pop, performed my masterful musicians without the aid of modern musical airbrushing techniques. So when you said the 1989-1998 thingy, it did seem kind of ironic in its limited scope, but I see now that you get that. No, this ***** today will not last, but neither will the capitalist empire which has whored the industry. And there's plenty of great stuff to be found without intensive digging. ***** the masses. They eat Velveeta and call it cheese. Who cares what they're listening to?
- mingusmingus, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7music's still happening, man.
- Doodleshanks, on 10/12/2008, -0/+59John Frusciante, 16 years later, looks so much better now. Glad he got clean and stuck with us for this long. RHCP, ftw.
- usuallyjusta, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6he's clean at this point
- JamesMatt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1true true check out his arms they ant scarred from the heroin yet.....
- liquify1, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1he was obviously clean at the time of this video. look at his arms if he was using all his veins wouldn't be sticking out like that, they tend to hide after awhile
- usuallyjusta, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6he's clean at this point
- xFied, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1accoustic guitar gives a new character to song. Loved it , dugg it
- nibkey, on 10/12/2008, -10/+4RHCP - Conclusive proof that some bands are just far better ON drugs. See also - Megadeth.
- ATLiens, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2go listen to californication. also, if you knew anything about the chili peppers, you'd know that aside from the first 3 (maybe 4) of their 9 albums were they deep into any type of drugs. however, anthony kiedis did get regularly high on heroin during their tours throughout the years (is now fully clean since 2001 i think).
- c010rb1indusa, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7The chili peppers last 3 albums , Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium were all done when the band was off drugs. And they are three kick ass albums.
- OwlFlavored, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Have you read "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Kiedas? I hate to tell you, but the band was NOT off drugs for Californication and By The Way- but John DID kick his heroin habit.
- nibkey, on 10/12/2008, -3/+0And none had the raw edged sex-funk of Uplift Mofo, BSSM or Mother's Milk. Instead all MOR whiny plodding introspective gash, even stretching to a double album classic mistake where a single would have sufficed. They used to be exciting and unpredictable (remember ***** in socks?) and had a raw spirit. Now they are all the kinda 'rock' that Brian from accounting and his wife Lisa go to see because, hey, they're cool and we're still cool you know. But hey, it's just my opinion.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1"Conclusive proof" =/= "[your] opinion"
If it's your opinion and you're not being a troll, then be reasonable and up-front about it/your opinion.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1"Conclusive proof" =/= "[your] opinion"
- blader1125, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6comment buried for comparing RHCP to Megadeth
- AaronS2000, on 10/12/2008, -2/+8music is their drug....

- theskillwithin, on 10/12/2008, -0/+13all under the bridge downtown.
- amawg9, on 10/12/2008, -0/+13Nah, I'm pretty sure music is their aeroplane.
- Skidmark66, on 10/12/2008, -0/+7nah, drugs are their drugs, read scartissue, best drug rave ever
- pmace, on 10/12/2008, -0/+3Excellent book - I couldn't put it down.
- Waynerz99, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Second the notion. Read the book twice. Amazing. Also if you enjoyed it, look into aerosmiths "walk this way". Different era, but same funny drug related stories. Or the new slash book, same era I guess. And IIRC, flea went to school with slash.
- mingusmingus, on 10/13/2008, -1/+0anthony was a pioneer of injecting cocaine.
so i guess that's something.
- seastobble, on 10/12/2008, -0/+41also, heroin
- csimpkins, on 10/12/2008, -19/+2I love old RHCP... but that ***** hurt my ears.
