This Warehouse Has Transformed Into A Musical Instrument!
environmentalgraffiti.com — In the cavernous, 9,000 square foot Great Hall of the former lower Manhattan ferry terminal, sits the man who once sang about 'Burning down the House'. David Byrne, sits behind an antique organ that acts as the control station for the musical instrument.

- stonebear, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4They are busy watching American Idol.
- DeFex, on 06/12/2008, -1/+4Actually there are still a lot of creative young people, Its just that the record companies dont care about them. They want airheads who will do as they are told.
- rationalbeats, on 06/12/2008, -0/+2Actually I will have to agree with you 100%
I read an article about Tom Petty and in today's record deal climate he would have been dropped after his first album.
It took him 3 full length records to build a solid fan base and to start making the label money.
Nowadays it's one record and if you don't at least break even, your done.
That is no way to develop and nurture an artist.
- rationalbeats, on 06/12/2008, -0/+2Actually I will have to agree with you 100%

- mostlysane, on 06/12/2008, -0/+2yes, Byrne is absolutely one of the true artists, one that is always doing something fresh and new. If you don't know about it, check out http://www.davidbyrne.com and especially the radio section on the left. He puts up a new playlist every month around some theme that usually involves music from other parts of the world that you would never hear otherwise. If you like world music even when it's not in English, this is always a place to check before youre ready to find something new to listen to. Unfortuntely you can't listen to the archived playlists but you can still get ideas for new musicians to listen to - and if Byrne has recommended them, the're worth the trouble.
