- Tomchei, on 08/05/2008, -0/+14I'm old enough to remember hearing him as a new act on Dr. Demento on my Bugs Bunny radio.
He'd come on after 'Fish Heads'.- alperea, on 08/05/2008, -2/+23Fish heads, fish heads, rolly polly fish heads, fish heads, fish heads, eat them up yum!

- ParaSwarm, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Yeah, that's what he said.
- LloydBentsen, on 08/05/2008, -2/+1Actually, it through me off too. "That's right!" usually means "that is right". Following that with "Still white and nerdy..." implies that "is" is being implied through "That's right!"
Example: "He is still white and nerdy 27 years ago!" vs. "He was still white and nerdy 27 years ago!" - caramba420, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1Yeah, wanna fight about it?

- drqshadow, on 08/05/2008, -0/+28Man, the Tomorrow Show was absolutely brilliant. So many great acts enjoyed their first national exposure on that program... it's a downright shame there's nothing even remotely comparable today.

- mbraynard, on 08/05/2008, -7/+3Did you get how stiff Tom "Snyder" was with his delivery on the intro?

- MCGrunge1, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I saw him about 5 years ago. The one thing that really stood out was how he change costumes after almost every song!
- SirBruce, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11Saw Weird Al open for the Monkees at Red Rocks in 1987. Great concert; would love to see another one of his shows someday.
- Albumen, on 08/05/2008, -1/+4I saw him about 6 months ago. He was really good! Great showman, polished sound, the whole thing was great.
As a sidenote: this guy sitting next to us was the Nerdiest MoFo I have ever seen. Kinda hefty, short sleeved white shirt, brown pants, thick glasses..check all boxes for nerdy. He knew the words to every to every song and sang his heart out! It was cool.- notwkf, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Thank you! It took me weeks to learn them all...

And people say we monkey around,
But we're too busy singing

And we've got something to say.

I said "....alright, I'll take that." - fatlucy101, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11Life is like a mop. Sometimes life gets full of dirt and crud and hairballs and things and you gotta clean it out. You gotta stick it in here and rinse it off and start all over again. And sometimes life sticks to the floor so much that a mop, a mop, it's not good enough. You gotta get down there with like a toothbrush, you know, and you gotta really scrub 'cause you gotta get it off. But if that doesn't work, you can't give up. You gotta stand right up. You gotta run to a window and say, "These floors are dirty as hell, and I'm not gonna take it any more!"

- praha, on 08/05/2008, -4/+8Did the host actually call the original Knacks song "My Shawarma", as in the mediterranean meat dish?
In any case, I really miss Dr. Demento. As a kid in the late 70's, early 80's, I stayed up late every Sunday night, tuning in to that great show. Weird Al and many other owe their success to Dr. D.- AUChizad, on 08/05/2008, -7/+4First of all, it's the Ramones, secondly, they didn't sing that song.
It was The Knack.- praha, on 08/05/2008, -10/+3First of all, AUChizad, give the writer (me) at least the nominal 5 minutes that Digg allows me to review and edit my post before you ***** jump all over my case.

- MisterEX, on 08/05/2008, -0/+21Honestly, I saw him live about 7 years ago and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. He had so many set and costume changes and kept you entertained every second of the show. Good stuff.
- theexitwound, on 08/05/2008, -1/+19I've been a fan for nearly 20 years now. I remember picking up Polka Party! (on casette) and his debut ALbum (on vinyl!). Seen him in concert a few times and he never fails to entertain. And that double-caterpillar moustache..what memories.

- desirecomplex, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2I've seen him 3 times live this year already (Cleveland, Youngstown, Toledo) and his live show is amazing. He doesn't just do the new stuff, he does the classics to.
- caulkrocket, on 08/05/2008, -1/+11I got my first Weird Al album when I was five years old. 21 years later, he's still a hero.
- yaryarhumphump, on 08/05/2008, -0/+522 here.... the only artist that has had that kind of staying power...
other bands come and go Weird Al is forever - fissionvsfusion, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4I was a child, just a wee lass, when I started listening to Weird Al too. My dad had a handful of albums on vinyl and (when I was old enough to possess anything of my own) taped the albums for me as they came out. Eventually I became old and savvy enough to get the albums and DVDs for him before he even knew they were out. When he died, my brother and I made sure there was a tasteful Weird Al song on the compilation we played at the funeral.
Weird Al shaped my sense of humour. He is the greatest, aside from my dad of course.

- doshindude, on 08/05/2008, -5/+3Actually, the internet (or ARPANET, whatever you wanted to call it at the time) started in the '70s, therefore, this is in fact not older than the internet.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 08/05/2008, -1/+7ARPANET was NOT the Internet. Saying it was it like saying your grandfather is you. ARPANET outlined a lot of the fundamental elements of what would later become the internet, but a whole pile of really important stuff that make the modern internet possible didn't come around until much later.

- TheStuffz, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1And his latest appearance was this last Sunday at Buffalo Days in Regina Saskatchewan. I really wish I had gone up there and seen it!

- zeebo, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I miss the specials that Weird Al used to do from time to time on MTV. Did that ever get released on DVD? It had the original video, then Al's video interspersed with short bits.
Of course, that was back when MTV still played music videos.

- darthzaphod, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8The 2nd of three times I've seen him, I went with my mom (shut up, I was sixteen.) I ran into two of my cousins at the show, so I traded seats with their parental unit so I could sit with the cousins. Well, during the song One More Minute, Al usually comes out in the audience and flails about with a fork and some underwear and such, and he ventured RIGHT DOWN THE GODDAMN ISLE where I WOULD HAVE been sitting had I not traded seats. I mean I could have touched him (and would have).
Needless to say, my impressionable sixteen year old self was so disappointed I nearly cried. I'm older now, and wiser, but would still probably kill a cute animal to have Weird Al sit on my lap. (I exaggerate...only an ugly animal.)- kiiwii, on 08/05/2008, -3/+1"(shut up, I was sixteen.)"
If you had said "shut up, I was twelve" I would have understood.
But... you couldn't go to a Weird Al concert without your mom when you were 16?- darthzaphod, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Actually no. It was in Denver and wasn't allowed to drive that far by myself (about 5 hours). That's pretty young to travel out of state to go to a concert by yourself.
I promise, for my 3rd when I was 18 I was flying solo. Not that I have to explain myself to you--what were you doing at 16, buying real estate and investing in the stock market? - kiiwii, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Buying real estate and investing in the stock market?
What are you, crazy? By 16 I was already selling!

- fissionvsfusion, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I saw Weird Al last year (not with my mom), and was sitting pretty far towards the back of the main floor. I was disappointed, but then he performed Wanna B Ur Lovr, and made his way up the aisle and stood on the empty aisle seat in front of me. I have never wanted a 50 year old man's hips gyrating lewdly in my face, but I can't complain.
