Reggie wants a GTA on the Wii

destructoid.com — MTVMultiplayer had a sit-down with NOA President Reggie Fils-Aime to talk about Grand Theft Auto on the DS platform. Towards the end of the interview, Reggie comments on the possibility of having a GTA on the Wii, and even seems open to the prospect. His candor is a bit surprising to behold.

chaosblade77, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2Although a GTA game on the Wii wouldn't interest me (just like a GTA game on the 360 and PS3 doesn't interest me) I don't see why it would be a problem to have one developed for Wii. I think Reggie has the right idea, welcoming to the console as long as it's built for the Wii, not just going back to the PS2 engine and porting something based on that.

MANY people were hoping that animal crossing woudl be there... so YES it was one or the most anticipated titles. And hardcore? He said that? Because Im pretty sure he said nothing of the sort.

    Yeah, he said Animal Crossing was for hardcore gamers. While Animal Crossing is obviously an anticipated game, I wouldn't call it a hardcore game.
BlueSkyfish, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Poor naive Reggie, A company like Rockstar won't give you GTA without a small "donation" first. Approximately $10 million, IIRC. Sure its less than ethical, but nobody will fault you since the other two companies do it already.
Renton, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4A Grand Theft Auto game with Wii controls would be amazing. They should just make it for the Wii from the ground up instead of trying to port IV though.

I wonder why Rockstar didn't decide to make one for the Wii in the first place. Last generation, they made games mostly for the PS2, which was the weakest system of its time, but also the market leader. Kind of like the Wii today. They'd certainly get a lot more sales on the Wii.

GTA belongs on systems where it can be properly appreciated.
jtbndy, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1GTA in its current iteration is impossible on the Wii. You would have to go back to the top down 3rd person type shooter if you wanted GTA on the Wii..... that or be satisfied with PlayStation 1 type 3d graphics.
