      • EbilPhish, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3The great thing about idgames engines over valves and other engines is that you actually get the sourcecode to the engines them selfs, Doom3 code is planning to be released, Carmak isn't sure exactly when, although I would think around the time of Rage's release might be likely.

        This means if you make a good total conversion you can actually release it for free without requiring people to have the game the mod is built for.

        Source on the other hand you don't get the sourcecode (well except for that code leak before the release of HL2) and people must own a game using the source engine.

      There's a neat Sonic fangame built off the DooM Legacy engine called "Sonic Robo Blast 2". In it, there's a secret mode called "Mario Koopa Blast" that has an original first level, a remake of World 1-2 (in a 2D, third person perspective), and an original level for 1-3.

      Doom is a 3D game as you move in THREE DIMENSIONS.

        This is using Firefox on Ubuntu. So it's not a IE only problem.
