- jjvors, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1The dragon's head is drawn on the inside of half a prism (rectangular solid). It is drawn to fool the eye into interpreting it as the outside of a prism. The brain misinterprets the changing perspective.
In movies, this is called "forced perspective" or false perspective. It was used in "Lord of the Rings" so that Frodo looks smaller than Gandalf on the cart as he rides into Bag End.
In short, it is an 3D optical illusion.
