- queenbev, on 07/08/2008, -5/+10Cheap labor does wonders. Example: Great Wall.
- Flytrap, on 07/09/2008, -3/+5Cheap labour is never a substitute for ingenuity, innovation and hard work. The Chinese have a great abundance of all the foregoing... and its is cheaper than anywhere else in the world.

- jer.williams, on 07/08/2008, -2/+22Truly impressive. Look forward to some HD footage this summer.
- faatbuddha, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1You won't find it; the garden is actually in Shanghai, two years ago.
- KatoHamatsu, on 07/08/2008, -3/+3Very cool. Hi-res photos would be nice, anyone able to find them?
- fuxxx, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2I can't find any hi res versions, but there are a few more photos here: http://www.lifeinthefastlane.ca/stunning-beijing-o ...
- MrFancy, on 07/08/2008, -0/+8that has to be the best topiary ever created.
- TheMorrigan, on 07/08/2008, -2/+4The last time I heard the term "Topiary" was 10th grade Natural History.
- franklymydear57, on 07/08/2008, -1/+8At the opening of the Guggenheim Bilbao, Basque separatists placed a bomb in Jeff Koons' topiary puppy -- it was discovered and never detonated. Don't know why I thought of that. I'm sure the olympics have better security.
- drummajor, on 07/08/2008, -4/+1Its well known Basques don't appreciate sport that doesn't include animal on human violence, and perhaps some blood. Isn't it San Fermin right now?
- digghandyman, on 07/08/2008, -7/+15That's the first thing about the Olympics that has looked inviting. The architecture, the smog, the human rights abuses; less inviting.
- crazyallen, on 07/08/2008, -3/+2That's what TV is for, you can watch the fluff and ignore the bloodshed.
- Ortheos, on 07/09/2008, -5/+5Human rights abuses? Are you talking about 1989? Many cities have a history of human rights abuses. Take Paris for example. Countless revolutions by the people and massacres by the authorities.
It's just more recent in Beijing. Don't worry it will be forgotten in due time.
- FarmPunk, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6Coming from someone who can't even keep a patch of grass green in front of his house, this is awesome.
- soursandy, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7I can't help but think of 'The Three Amigos" quote:
- We plundered!
- Plundered!
- And...
- Pruned.
- Pruned the...
- Hedges. - tambird, on 07/08/2008, -2/+7Look at them now. If they are still going to seed the clouds to cleanse the air that should pretty much kill all the shrubs.
- Jiyoui, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2how?...
- nikeboy32, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Those are simply amazing.
- luke16, on 07/08/2008, -0/+12Edward Scissorhands would be proud

- Pusod, on 07/09/2008, -3/+8There's gonna be one kook on here that going to voice their hatred towards China and start spewing their political agenda and direct it towards this beautiful garden. Watch, you'll see.
- bassik, on 07/09/2008, -5/+4 not propaganda at all /sarcasm lmfao
- Jiyoui, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1no its not, its called culture.
go find a dictionary and look up propaganda
- Jiyoui, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1no its not, its called culture.
- 801NvizioN, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2Wow nice trim job.
I'd play ball. - hayzen, on 07/09/2008, -2/+17This garden is NOT in Beijing. It was some kind of plant exhibition in Century Park in Shanghai back in 2006. You can see some pictures have the date "06-09-23". Also, one picture has Chinese characters on it that says "Shanghai Lane" on it.
Also, even if these are taken in Beijing, it would contradict all the cloudy, smoggy, polluted, pictures of Beijing portrayed in the media lately in relation to the upcoming Olympics.- noahgelman, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1So... buried as inaccurate? because they're still really cool
- hayzen, on 07/09/2008, -2/+0It is cool, there is no doubt about that! :)
But is it located in Beijing or have anything to do with the Olympics? No. So, you may bury it for that reason. - wraithscelus, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1Then what's up with the Olympic rings?
- hayzen, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3You're right. Only one picture that has the Olympic rings in it makes the WHOLE event the "Olympic Garden". LOL.
It may have some tribute to the Olympics because they are proud to have it finally hosted in their homeland, but this event is not officially connected to the Olympics like the title implies.

- stignordas, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the update hayzen! I noticed an update notice on the article itself. Amazing gardens regardless.
- hayzen, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0Oh, definitely amazing! Something like this should be shown again and more often ... not just every 3 years. lol.
- JimmyLin, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2Wow the dolphins really look like they're being held up by the water!
- jimbowf, on 07/09/2008, -3/+3nice to see all the orange smog in the sky has been photoshopped out...
- Ortheos, on 07/09/2008, -3/+1The dolphins are hunky dory.
- kosmoss, on 07/09/2008, -4/+3Shopped, the sky over there is dark gray from pollution.
- nilsalb, on 07/09/2008, -7/+6FREE TIBET !!!
- neio, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1Dolphins impress Dolphins.
- balan73, on 07/09/2008, -2/+0Wonderful pics
- annjay, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1Amazing !
- sonusandhu, on 07/09/2008, -2/+1Another server down!
- RRJackson, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2I like the giant topiary kids. "Hulk smash!!"
- Erythroxylum, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2These Olympics really are inspiring. Hell, I may even be inspired to watch it, and I haven't watched an Olympics since the one in Barcelona in 1992. Nothing piques one interest like a bit of the old commie oppression, and how it translates to people running in circles, throwing things and jumping over other things.
- Papajohn56, on 07/09/2008, -3/+3how ironic, a green garden in a ***** smog filled city
- Quicksilver4648, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2What ever happened to everyone going "Boycott the Olympics for what they did to Tibet!" Just saying?
- rjhomuth, on 07/09/2008, -1/+2All those 7th graders who were whining got out of school and found better things to do.
- rjhomuth, on 07/09/2008, -2/+3So which structure do they bury the bodies of their enemies in?
- dafragsta, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3Digg has ADD when it comes to issues like you wouldn't believe.
China is doesn't care about human rights and ... oooh! Cool hedges! - awflasher, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I am in Beijing :)
The Olympic is coming and I'm looking forward to it. But this pictures seems to be not in Beijing? I am not sure anyway though I do never saw it before ~- DustoMan, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Ya, there isn't nearly enough pollution in the sky and where's all the algae in the water with the dolphins?
- mactrix, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1It's up there with them ice sculpures! Cool stuff!
- nutmac, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0Why is one of the guys kneeling down with his ass sticking up (2nd and 3rd pictures)?
- DustoMan, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Locusts will devour it before the Opening Ceremonies.
- RRAlex, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1How many slaves, i mean benevolent citizen, does it take to make one dolphin fly over a fountain?
- jamiepeach, on 08/05/2008, -0/+0Amazing, I don't care how many slaves/benevolent citizens it took to do this, it was well worth it!
