LEGO for Adults - Make Guns with LEGO?
blog.makezine.com — Interesting, here's a book called LEGO for adults, it shows how to make crossbows, pistols and more -- there are only about 1,000 copies because (according to the author) "After 1050 copies were printed, the LEGO GroupĀ® forbid the...

- Nuken, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3That sounds so painful.
- GhandicapXRS, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4I remember years ago reading in Time magazine an article about the Chinese military, and in it was a reference to body armor and assault rifles being produced by Nintendo in Japan.
But I haven't been able to find any more information on this. Anyone else ever heard of this?- Greengoo, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Unlikely since Nintendo's only hardware deals in lightweight plastics and circuitry, not ceramics or steel...
...additionally, why would the Japanese develop military tech for China... seems very questionable to me. - GhandicapXRS, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Well basically they were saying that the Chinese army, altough huge, was equipped with incredibly old weapons (like 40's era rifles). This was before China's economy started picking up.
Basically, they weren't getting cheap weapons after the collapse of the Soviet Union and were looking to buy and Nintendo was one of the bidder's. But at the time, the chinese couldn't afford their high-tech offerings.
I found it really weird and haven;t been able to find anything else about this. So I assume then that it must've been some sort of subsidiary, division or partner of Nintendo's. Or maybe even a one time thing and the project folded fast.
In any case, look a them now(the chinese), they have Segway ridin' special force dudes!

- crazyjake, on 07/24/2008, -0/+25WAIT WAIT WAIT....
The other legos aren't for adults...... :(- mrgermy, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Nope. And if LEGO finds out you (if you're an adult) are playing with them, well, it won't be pretty. So play with them in the dark, in a bunker, away from any life form.
- madpuppy, on 07/24/2008, -10/+1how many times is this lego book going to be posted??
- Canuck, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7this is the first time that I've seen it. But then I have a life and don't spend all waking ours reading absolutely every article posted to Digg.

- aladrin, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7You know, custom-making plastic pieces is what is killing Lego to start with... Every new set has so many special purpose pieces that it's not really fun any more.

- jman583, on 07/24/2008, -1/+10Is there an online version? or a copy to download?
- jlebrech, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2Any that fire real bullets?
- dazparkour, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4I'm sure the lego would survive the small explosion that propels bullets.
- davidbeile, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5I think Lego is making a big mistake by not endorsing this book. This is a whole new market.
And btw, this gun didn't look to lethal.- eohano, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Of course it wasn't lethal. It wouldn't even hurt.
But what you have to remember is that "gun" is a bad word and everyone is scared of it, so Lego doesn't want their name associated with it. - davidbeile, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1True, that is a very good point.
But then again they wouldn't have to necessarily have to use the word "gun."
The phrase "shooter toy" or something of the like could be used instead.
- eohano, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Of course it wasn't lethal. It wouldn't even hurt.
- Protuhj, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6Watch out airports
- thegrantman, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8That is dangerous....you could choke on the small pieces.
- FLarsen, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1Oh my god! Ban LEGO!
- Greengoo, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2This was posted a few weeks ago, but it's still awesome. I hope those that missed it the first time get to see it now.
- ari25, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4Awesome, I never thought I'll be hoping for Legos for Christmas again.
- Pilgrim01, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1Wow that is bad-ass
- KtownReject0358, on 07/24/2008, -3/+1It looks like it might fall apart.
- hellbent88, on 07/24/2008, -4/+1lego porn! FTW
- xLSDx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+3I don't understand the "for adults" part. It's not like it makes a real gun. That's like saying NERF GUN, FOR ADULTS!
- welliwonder, on 07/24/2008, -5/+1enough lego spam, k thx
- destron, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Lego Crossbows and Pistols? Dude. I would be the happiest ***** kid in the world if I owned this book 10 years ago. Screw adults... if I had children into Legos I would buy them this book.
- ancientsociety, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6If I turn in a Lego gun in Chicago, can I get $100?
- fuzzlog, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1great!! now legos are going to be banned by airport screeners. Even a suspicious necklace can get you in trouble: http://www.blogto.com/fashion_style/2008/05/toront ...
- chukd, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I can see the new ban at airports. NO CHILD TOYS! The flights will be filled with screaming, crying kids to drive everyone nuts. Thanks LEGO.
- onClipEvent, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1that video had great gun sound effects...
- Zoshchenko, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1This book is hardly more than a pamphlet and is WAY overpriced for what you get. Also, it appears they have violated Lego's copyright in more ways than one by publishing it. I don't think we're looking at a new cultural phenomenon here.
- britoca, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1adults suck
- lhymes, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Holy ***** this is friggen incredible. Must find a torrent for this book!
