Nissan Must Think That Drivers Are Stupid
thearticlewriter.com — ECO Pedal is a feature Nissan plans to roll out next year which will prevent you from putting the pedal to the metal when you want to. Um, Nissan, isn't there some sort of useful technology you could roll out instead?

But for Nissan, the thinking from them is that you want to increase your gas mileage by five to ten percent and would welcome this feature."
Hmmmm, lets see do we save our lives by gunning it to move out of the way of the Mac Truck about to hit us or safe a few bucks on gas....- iMattK, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Agreed! I want to control my car and not the other way around. This feature is awful and potentially dangerous.

- rubenmnk, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1wow.. nissan bring new technology..
- HalfFullCup, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2now that I think about it, if more drivers die in terrible accidents because of the car's poor response time that would be saving the planet. Every car taken off the road with a fatality is a car taken off the road.
- iMattK, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Thumb's up for "outside of the pine box" thinking. With that in mind, then we should get rid of airbags, crumple zones, and every single one of the nanny devices.
- alluricious, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1This is a new technology and Nissan won't stop improving things for its patrons... maybe other car manufacturers would follow installing the ECO pedals.
- iMattK, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1They won't be quick to follow if they understand the downside (safety issue) of this feature. Imagine trying to floor it to avoid an accident only to have the pedal push back at you? Yikes.
- nhuong, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Maybe nissan should think about fuel efficient cars more instead of this stupid idea.
- iMattK, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Agreed. Nissan has a lot of smart folks who work for them, people who can figure away to build cars that run more efficiently without threatening safety.
- boscony, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Sounds like a bad idea in defending against the "Pedal to the Medal" concept with most drivers.
- ryan83189, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Sometimes it's safer to gun it than to brake to avoid an accident. Drivers who are too stupid to just not floor it probably don't know this or notice/try to avoid accidents and would not need the extra power anyways. I wish there was a button that would drive idiots' cars for them and just let them push the gas and turn the wheel without really doing anything. Get on that Nissan.
- iMattK, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Ryan, those cars driven by idiots should simply fail to operate. There should be some sort of common sense measurement (not IQ, because some smart people act idiotic) to control this sort of thing. Nissan, do you hear us? :-)
