The Ten Most Popular Conspiracy Theories
economist.com — AN OBVIOUS truth can be difficult to face. Yet public hunger for far-fetched theories of all sorts is insatiable. The most frequent internet postings concern an alleged American-government role in the terrorist attacks of 2001. America features strongly with cover-ups of alien life, Elvis’s faked death and the Apollo moon missions.

- QGYH2, on 02/21/2008, -2/+3The reptillian one is quite accurate!
- cyberdork, on 02/21/2008, -5/+10Add up all those numbers and you come to the absolute maximum amount of votes Ron Paul could ever achieve.
- daivos, on 02/21/2008, -0/+6Dugg, because it was funny, but I think Ron Paul has more credibility than that.
- angusm, on 02/21/2008, -1/+8So if I put together a web page 'proving' that Elvis was the second shooter on the grassy knoll and that reptilian humanoids from Area 51 killed Princess Diana to cover up what she knew about the planned 9/11 attacks, I will get hundreds of thousands of hits? Or will the secret descendants of Jesus Christ have me silenced before I can reveal the truth?
- bryano, on 02/21/2008, -3/+2I, for one, welcome our new reptililian ... oh wait. nvm. kthxbai
- orlando37, on 02/21/2008, -0/+2Somebody call up Julia and Mel. I think we have a sequel here.
- JLecker, on 02/21/2008, -1/+3Only 600,000 hits for "9/11 conspiracy"? *****, there's probably that many on Digg alone.
- staxofmax, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3Wait, the belief that reptilian aliens secretly rule the world is more prevalent than the belief that The Illuminati, the Rand Corporation, the Trilateral Commission, or any other real or historical entity secretly ruling the world? Surprising to say the least.
- deviouskoopa, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3Wtf Reptilian conspiracies?? How did that get so many hits, I've never heard of it...
*sneaks off to Google >_>* - MrColdheart, on 02/21/2008, -2/+1there's a lot more current conspiracy theories out there than this.
The death of Princess Diana
Visitation by aliens- twitchr, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3uh, did you even look at the article? those are both on there...and the article isn't stating that these are the only conspiracy theories out there, just the most popular based on google searches.
- Groovemaster, on 02/22/2008, -3/+5Watch the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 side by side with a known controlled demolition (not a rick-roll):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73qK4j32iuo
Does anyone honestly believe that "fire and structural damage" can cause a building to collapse straight down through the path of greatest resistance at the same speed as a building rigged with demolition explosives?- onetimer, on 02/22/2008, -5/+2Wow! It looks kind of similar! Well done gumshoe! Before I alert the press, do you mind sharing with me what logical proof this constitutes? The it-looks-like-something-so-it-must-be-it induction proof? You know, acetone is colorless, just like water! They must have the same chemical makeup! Why isn't the MSM reporting on this??
"an cause a building to collapse straight down through the path of greatest resistance at the same speed as a building rigged with demolition explosives?"
It's almost as if the earths gravitation pull is pretty much the same everywhere on the surface...- Groovemaster, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2"...mind sharing with me what logical proof this constitutes?"
Sure. It proves that WTC7 collapsed at the same rate at which a building collapses when all of its load-bearing supports are simultaneously destroyed using demolition explosives.
If you genuinely believe that a building can collapse straight down into a pile of rubble at the same rate as a controlled demolition without being subjected to a controlled demolition, you are fully entitled to your opinion. - GhostyBoy, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3Okay, dude you are in serious denial, man.
- Groovemaster, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2"...mind sharing with me what logical proof this constitutes?"
- spaceman77, on 02/22/2008, -0/+3There are first-responder witnesses that say there was a twenty second countdown before the explosive collapse. Two of them are bravely revealing there names, many others are fearful of harassment and will not come forward. There is also a youtube video where the police are telling everyone to get away from the building and that it is about to explode.
There is so much viable evidence to show that there are many glaring holes in the 'official story'.
To see all the holes you need detectives mind for detail and you need to go through lots of material. This is a crime scene with a lot of evidence and witnesses.
I think it helps to suspend belief about believing either side of the story otherwise it will skew your resulting judgment.
I am not going to tell you what to believe. I feel that would be trespassing on your mind and it's beliefs.
I will only say research research research this. Gather as much knowledge as possible.
Then I hope it will be clearer for you.

- kweiche, on 02/22/2008, -1/+0Another great conspiracy theory is the Oklahoma City bombing.
Research that one for your liking and you'll see many similarities to 9/11 - UltramegaOK, on 02/22/2008, -1/+0When was this published?
The numbers that they provide are off a little. For example the searches:
Diana "conspiracy" = 188,000
JFK "conspiracy" = 226,000
AIDS "conspiracy" = 220,000
Apollo "conspiracy" = 355,000
--------------------------
9/11 "conspiracy" =592,000
DIGG "conspiracy" = 520,000
====> DIGG pwns all except 9/11
No joke. Try it yourself. - piouspeter, on 02/22/2008, -0/+0Google is certainly making money off of uncertainty. I guess that is their game.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/22/2008, -0/+1The 9/11 conspiracy theory is a lot less far fetched then the one where those 2 planes obliterate all 3 buildings into dust.
