- Jenadae, on 06/26/2008, -26/+4Honey bees average a 1/2 inch each, if there were 15000 that would line up to about 7500inches of bees or 625ft even if they were 3 fold on top of each other there is no way you could have 15000 within a meter in a circle
- unreg, on 06/26/2008, -0/+15You're a mathematical genius !!
Are the bees one dimensional?
Let's take your 1/2" length and add a 1/4" width.
.5 X .25 X 15000 / 144 / 3 = 4.3 sq ft
That's a circle about 2' in diameter- Money4Offer, on 06/26/2008, -2/+0"You're a mathematical genius !!"

- forceuser, on 06/26/2008, -6/+16I always hated bees as a child, they'd follow me around and try to sting me when I never did anything to them.
- Mawds, on 06/26/2008, -1/+8Are you sure you are not Winnie the Pooh and they could just see through your poor disguise of a child?
- dynelol, on 06/26/2008, -0/+12Bees die afterwards. Wasps are the douchebags that sting for the ***** of it.
- SLockhart, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Did you, by any chance, wash your face with honey as a child?

- Merendino, on 06/26/2008, -3/+11I gotta say, what the ***** is that guy in the thumbnail doing? He's basically begging the bees to sting him.
- Van3ck, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7It's ok... he is a hipster.
- Stupidumb, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4That's a girl.
- EntropyFan, on 06/26/2008, -0/+13Honey bees are quite docile, especially when they swarm like that.
You would have to start stomping on them or something like that to get stung.
Wasps and hornets? those are the mean little ***** that will go after you for no reason. - synwolf, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1He kinda reminds me of Mitch Hedberg.
- TheNakedChef, on 06/26/2008, -4/+3Just because they landed in middle of a city and dailymail was able to take a photo, it doesn't mean there's enough of them where they are supposed to be.

- serif69, on 06/26/2008, -8/+5Buried for the obligatory complaint about the Daily Mail that is obligated to mention Fox News. We ***** get it. Now move on.
- Erythroxylum, on 06/26/2008, -4/+1It's not quite the Fox News of the UK; it's not nearly as popular, being as Fox New is, the most popular news outlet in the US. That isn't to say the Daily Mail isn't popular - it is; the third most popular newspaper in the UK after the News of the World and The Sun.
- nibbers, on 06/26/2008, -7/+2BEES? Beads!
- phoenix43, on 06/26/2008, -5/+0Humans may have won the battle, but the bees just won the war.

- BaNZ, on 06/26/2008, -5/+3Would dailymail just stfu with their bogus news. It's these type of misleading information that makes people stupid.
- BeforeSputnik, on 06/26/2008, -1/+17This is a normal, natural occurence; when bees migrate in swarms. We've become so dissassociated with the natural world that when it breaks into our concrete & plastic lives, it's news.
We're not the only things living on this planet. - legendxx, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Only one decent picture of the bees? =/
- bjs3171, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6uh...no one? they said there's way fewer, not none. idiot.
- Archon810, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1That's what I was thinking. Who did say there were none?
- thedogfatherx, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Bees are amazing.
- petebert, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1did the city promptly exterminate them all?
- bosssmiley, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4No. The bees have now taken possession of Exeter as their new hive, they have renamed it Bee-tropolis.
- Wormfather, on 06/26/2008, -2/+12Fact: The bees are disappearing
Fact: Every hundred years they have a conference where at least 2/3 of the world population attend.
Fact: The bees are planning an attack.

- uberduger, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2What are the odds that Tuesday morning saw someone at Bella Italia drop a can of Pepsi on the ground and then not clear it up?
- noone4nowhere, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Even though it may seem a little crazy to call in the various emergency support services (police, expert bee keeper) - I'm actually glad they worked to remove the bees and tried to keep the swarm alive.
10 years ago - the approach would have been to wipe them out with a big old can of RAID.- SethEllis, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Removing swarms of bees like this is one of the best ways that beekeepers make money. Not only do they get paid to remove the bees, but they get a new colony as well. This set sounds pretty aggressive, I'm sure they'll be a very productive hive.
- obliviousfool, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3No joke. Queen bees are money. Beekeepers love calls like this. All they hear is "ka-ching!"
- jo21, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1dugg for the patapon reference

- dupswapdrop, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4They are the killer bees of Islam! magenta alert! magenta alert!
- pevil, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Actually, bees that are swarming like this aren't very aggressive and can be handled without protective equipment.
- scififan9009, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3The research shows that bees aren't vanishing into thin air or dying, they can't navigate correctly anymore and are showing up in random areas just like this.
- johnpaul191, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2this is a swarm, that's different than beens just going off in random directions. swarming is a normal thing for bees.
- crazytaxi, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1"they can't navigate correctly anymore and are showing up in random areas just like this."
so, bees are pretty much just like diggers?
- tcorlen, on 06/26/2008, -1/+6Chuck Norris doesn't go get his honey. Honeybees bring their honey to Chuck Norris.

A council spokeswoman said: 'It's the time of year for bees to swarm and it's not unusual for swarms to appear in the centre of Exeter.'
----------
He said the same thing last year regarding elephants. - desmondageratte, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1OMG I think I solved the puzzle!
The chairs look like bee hive so that's why the bees go and stop there for a look.
Now where is my Nobel Prize hmmmm?- Erythroxylum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Unless you can tie it to Global Warming, uh, I mean Climate Change and that it's going to kill us all in the most horrible way, then you won't get one.
- TwistyO, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2That's weird, this same thing just happened in Uniontown PA. I have pics from my brother of bees attacking their picnic table in the same fashion. IT"S STARTED!

- mradultman, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Oh my GOD.
I would run away from that swarm like a little girl being chased by the boogy man. Bees scare the piss out of me... of course, being SUPER allergic doesn't help. I once got stung on my arm while driving down the road. Less than 5 minutes later my whole arm was swollen and I had a hella bad headache with blurred vision. Not a fun position to be in.
That's really cool though.. Nature is rad.- ismellfunny, on 06/26/2008, -2/+0I want to kill you
- mradultman, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Why? Cause I'm allergic to bees?
- ismellfunny, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Did anyone notice the main picture? It's an emo boy that appears to have a bottle of piss at his side. I figure he is trying to sting himself to death with the dead bee's.
