- CoffeeJoost, on 07/02/2008, -1/+33It must be the Speedos.
- dankoleary, on 07/02/2008, -1/+4I miss the old banana hammock days. The new speedos look silly.
- duggdowncatisad, on 07/04/2008, -6/+0Those things are the swimming version of steriods.
- beauTL, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7Am I the only one that realizes they aren't the "swimming version of steroids"? What the hell are you talking about? Steroids are a performance-enhancing drug...and yes they can benefit swimmers also. That's like saying good shoes are the steroids of basketball....
- Murdats, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1@ beautl
they are. - duggdowncatisad, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2so you're saying it's more like the swimming version of corked bats?
- BaseballPlaya13, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2I bet you do miss those days, huh.
- virtualball, on 07/04/2008, -1/+4I was watching the news and they did a story about how the new speedos were partly designed by NASA which is why there have been like 40+ world records broken. They said it was "like steroids" and that other swimsuit makers are pissed.
- raintheory, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2hence the name...
- PhrosTT, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2the ***** up thing is certain countries are beholden to sponsorship contracts... preventing them from using any speedo brand *****. so they're pretty much doomed from the get go
- LewP, on 07/02/2008, -6/+9You are right CoffeJoost. I'm gonna be doing a story on my blog soon......Should the Asterisk be put on these performance enhancing swim wear records?
- trixyfox, on 07/04/2008, -2/+5I don't think so. Technology is getting better, and as long as everyone has access to it, then everyone is still on equal ground.
- TheMime, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7Pretty much everyone has access to steroids in the MLB.
- nedzeve, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3DOES everyone have access to the same technology/resources/money?
Try again.
- PartyOnAurora, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Only if you want to start putting asterisks on every record broken from this point on.
- trixyfox, on 07/04/2008, -2/+5I don't think so. Technology is getting better, and as long as everyone has access to it, then everyone is still on equal ground.
- NachoBusiness, on 07/03/2008, -1/+31I saw we require them to swim naked. Especially in the women's events. It's a sacrifice we viewers would be willing to make for fairness.
- jcaino, on 07/04/2008, -1/+5Have you actually seen female swimmers? They're beasts! Of course, maybe that's your thing. They're also normally pretty hairy in the off-season.
(Disclaimer: I swam competitively for 12 years)- ziptnf, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2I'm also a former competitive swimmer, they let their hair on their legs grow out for months in the winter. They wear jeans, so nobody sees the beasts.
- rald84, on 07/04/2008, -1/+3obviously they would have to shave completely for aerodynamics
- wem003, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2hydrodynamics

- Aikidi, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8i think womans back was also broken.
and nacho, you don't want that. trust me, its all fun and games til they actually start swimming. then its disgusting.- bieber, on 07/04/2008, -0/+8I can't help but wonder what kind of experiences you've had, that you can make that distinction :O
- tomd123, on 07/04/2008, -4/+1Looks like Jason Lezak got his 15 seconds of fame.
Plan to break record next time:
1. Lose bottom half of body.
2. Get these http://digg.com/mods/Dolphin_recovers_swimming_abi ... (cool)
3. ???
4. Get labeled as 1337 5w1mm3|2.- Duncanizer1, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Should've stopped at step 2. Step 3 and 4 pointless.
- Twisted871, on 07/04/2008, -6/+1at digg, article is submitted, Then submitted again
- DDMX, on 07/04/2008, -7/+6I smell steroids.
These athletes should be required to take blood tests after each swim, which will show much more in their system. Some do it voluntarily - but the field needs to be evened.- DteK, on 07/04/2008, -3/+3lol, I was gonna say must be the roids.
- ziptnf, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3The suits are legitimately faster, it's not a joke this time. I expect every single world record to be broken at the Games, without a doubt. They're going to be dropping like flies. Plus, do you not think that high level college and professional athletes are getting drug tested for events like this? It's the OLYMPICS!
- PURPLEDRINK, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1There are different ways to enhance the body besides steroids and exercise. Anyway in the future, the olypmics won't make sense once people gain the ability to alter their DNA post-birth.
- JarJar420, on 07/04/2008, -4/+2Meesa don't think he could swim through -- PLANET CORE!!!
- Wakkyweed, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Okay, I've seen two of your posts, and the Jar Jar Binks meme is getting old at an exponential rate.

the more you know!

- ptFoe, on 07/04/2008, -4/+4Aussies are gonna kick your ass in Beijing
- nedzeve, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2Hater.
- Soccrplyer4life, on 07/04/2008, -4/+3Anyone else sick and tired of Phelps?
- nedzeve, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Probably, but not me.
- Slushi, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Suits are legal until you throw propellers on them; no asterisks needed. Personally, I preferred my own skin to shark skin with a 22 brief, but these do look sexy.
/Amanda Beard, anyone?
//Dara Torres for the cougar win (5th Olympics) - yaosaiming, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0I can't believe Hansen didn't get a spot in the 200 breast..........
- Rmo4, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2The suits don't give the swimmers more power, it just makes their power more efficient. This scenario is entirely different than steroids.
- jepizacar, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1nice resource....
