Bullet Ricochet Almost Kills Shooter watch!
break.com — The odds of being hit by a bullet ricochet are probably a billion to one, but I doubt that this incredibly lucky guy will think twice before putting a helmet on next time he picks up a rifle.

- GetItBuilt, on 09/16/2008, -58/+7WoW! That was amazing. And painful too I bet.
This is a lesson to all, GUNS R BAD!
Nuff Said!- Gottlos, on 09/16/2008, -6/+19Wow! That was lame. And stupid too I bet.
This is a lesson to you all, Guns are not bad but ignorant people are.
I could expound upon this subject further!
But seriously I don't think you're going to make any friends with comments like this. - HayString, on 09/16/2008, -2/+15You better get on back to YouTube before someone notices you're gone and you get in trouble.
- Vodd9, on 09/16/2008, -3/+9Welcome to digg, where saying anything remotely negative about guns will get your comment massively buried.
- thebigbluecan, on 09/17/2008, -2/+10Guns are the only thing we have to protect ourselves. Without them we would be slaves of our government! They are on the bill of rights for a reason!
- elfs1der, on 09/17/2008, -1/+2true dat
- HayString, on 09/17/2008, -1/+4You say that like it's a bad thing.
- Vodd9, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1@thebigbluecanthebigbluecan
I should remind you that you government taxes your income, even thought it's unlawful to do so. And just look at how much your constitution has been raped under the Bush administration. Then look at all the other countries where guns are mostly restricted for the citizen (most industrialized countries..). Does that mean that we live under tyranny? No. I'm not saying that firearms should be restricted, neither am I saying that they shouldn't. I just think that we should not apprehend the issue like it's something that is black and white.
I live in Canada, btw.
- Gottlos, on 09/16/2008, -6/+19Wow! That was lame. And stupid too I bet.
- jawbreakerjon, on 09/16/2008, -4/+86for a second I thought those were his brains flying through the air.
- leerayIG88, on 09/16/2008, -0/+26if that were to happen you would have heard a mysterious voice... "HEADSHOT!"
- Gottlos, on 09/16/2008, -12/+2I feel sad... if it had been his brains it would have been one less french guy in the world...
- brownr21, on 09/16/2008, -4/+4As opposed to dumbass americans?
- Vodd9, on 09/16/2008, -1/+1What do you have against french canadians?
- iticu, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Yeah, we never should have forgiven the French for freeing the Americans from English rule.
God damn them.
- Inohavehalos, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Too many zombie flicks? :D
- JAGUART, on 09/16/2008, -1/+1Not zombie flicks. The clip looked Zapruder.
- fearziz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+16i thought his scalp just flew off!
- xaxxon, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8like it was on a string and someone pulled it off?
- fearziz, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2his hat looks like black hair and then all you see if red fly off lol..
- Gephoria, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2BOOM!, Headshot!
- nmezib, on 09/16/2008, -2/+7wow. just imagine if the bullet was only a centimeter off! looks like it was at the perfect angle to graze his scalp and probably bounce right off the top of his skull, doing little damage.
Next time I go to a firing range I'll be wearing a helmet :P- dsmx, on 09/16/2008, -0/+14So that just leaves 95% of your body for the bullet to hit and kill you.
- wrs123, on 09/16/2008, -0/+25Or, instead of a helmet, don't shoot a high-powered rifle at a target with a hard backdrop only 25 meters away
- clumsytime, on 09/17/2008, -0/+10Use frangible ammunition. The range nearest me actually only lets people use frangible ammo for high powered rifles. It breaks upon impact so you can practice your shooting without the risk of ricochet.
- tpclicker, on 09/16/2008, -1/+8Now what's he going to do?
- Technoidatx, on 09/17/2008, -0/+19a barrel roll
- Pstall, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2That video is fake. Seriously. There are two videos of ricochets from the same people at the same spot. Here is a link to the other video. http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ... I am pretty sure after one you would stop shooting at the location.
- jmp478, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Bullets can't just 'reflect' back like that. They break apart on impact.
Definitely fake... - D5010, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe not the entire bullet, but shards of it will in fact ricochet off a thick metal plate. I've witnessed it firsthand and a friend of my dad has the scar on his face as a reminder never to use half inch steel for target practice.
- jmp478, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Bullets can't just 'reflect' back like that. They break apart on impact.
- RowdyJo, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Bleed for awhile and then get icecream. Or die, you know 50/50 shot.
- JamesPDX, on 09/16/2008, -2/+28In another one at what looks like the same place, friend shoots friend on ricochet. Gotta love the tards that think it is a good thing to go shooting where there are rocks.
http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ...- xaxxon, on 09/16/2008, -2/+7They're both obviously faked.
- Vodd9, on 09/16/2008, -1/+1Yeah, I mean what are the odds that the same guys at the same moment, at the same place get nearly killed by richochet even thought they're far enough from the target?
- shawnanigans, on 09/17/2008, -4/+1This is why there should be gun control. Or at least birth control.
- graemee, on 09/17/2008, -0/+7TRY A .50 CAL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ABGIJwiGBc
"We're not doing that anymore"- cawpin, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1I've seen that many times. It is the most extreme ricochet I've ever seen. You can hear the guy in the video say something about shooting at steel. What I want to know is what EXACTLY they were shooting at. A .50 BMG round doesn't stop easily. It will slice right through 1/2" steel and probably give 1" a good run. This is without armor piercing projectiles. I've personally shot a non armor piercing round through the head of an engine.
And, on the submitted video and the .270 one above, they sure look fake to me.

- vovka3, on 09/16/2008, -15/+8POW! Right in the Kisser!
No, wait, the brain... - IWDA4, on 09/16/2008, -9/+1Wait, that's just his hat.
Anyway, not really a billion to one. President Reagan was seriously injured by a bullet ricochet during his attempted assassination.- Jedakiah, on 09/16/2008, -0/+12The odds of a ricochet hitting you increase exponentially with the distance between you and the target. Having a bullet aimed at you and catching a ricochet, is vastly different from aiming at a target 50 yards away.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 09/16/2008, -0/+5Except Reagan wasn't the one firing the gun.
I'm sure subby meant to say the odd of getting hit by your own ricochet are a billion to one.

If Quebec is the US, these guys are Texans. (Same deformation of the language via accent.)- pileofstraw, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1I was about to say this. French Quebec myself and I can barely catch the accent. Must be Rouyn-Noranda.:)
- RuVCaN, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Maybe New-Brunswick.
- Vodd9, on 09/17/2008, -0/+6We call it Franglais around here. Or frenglish if you prefer.
- Sloi, on 09/17/2008, -7/+0Surrenderese.
It's a very submissive language.- UnderscoreMan, on 09/17/2008, -1/+0If by surenderese you mean that it makes others surrender you're right.
Have a read.
Story about the most famous french canadian soldier.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Major
A little extract, happened in the korean war.
"For three days, Leo's men held off multiple Chinese counter-assaults, until reinforcements arrived. For his actions, Leo was awarded the Bar to the Distinguished Service Medal. Amazingly, twenty French Canadians successfully resisted the assault of 2 Chinese Divisions while an entire American Division had been forced to retreat."
You need to stop confusing elite officials from France who where surrender happy with all the french speaking peoples.
- UnderscoreMan, on 09/17/2008, -1/+0If by surenderese you mean that it makes others surrender you're right.
- jdmzpf, on 09/18/2008, -0/+1He's speaking Canadian, eh??

- kogeki, on 09/16/2008, -0/+5I wonder what it was he was shooting at that ricocheted it like that. It looked like a normal target and backstop.
- DubiousDrewski, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1If you look at the link that JamespdX posted above, you can see that it's not a pile of dirt like it should be, but a pile of black rocks/shale or something:
http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ...
Really a stupid place for a firing range.
- DubiousDrewski, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1If you look at the link that JamespdX posted above, you can see that it's not a pile of dirt like it should be, but a pile of black rocks/shale or something:
- RobotLeAwesome, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I've seen this happen before, it's strange – the bullet bounces off the target, comes back, then bounces off the ground before going back up at the shooter.
- FauxOne, on 09/16/2008, -3/+76HOLY JEEZ MAN.... HOLY JEEZ MAN. OYY *****.
- Games4Life, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8OYY MAN YU OK MAN, HOLY JEEZ HOLY JEEZ!

- 88chrisb, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2Bet he's not going to be firing a weapon any time soon!
- monsterette, on 09/16/2008, -0/+9...whooaa...he's lucky!
- floridiot2, on 09/16/2008, -1/+9.. or unlucky that a bullet hit him in the head.
- DaffyDuck, on 09/17/2008, -1/+4lucky - no ricochet
unlucky - ricochet and slight injury
really unlucky - ricochet and death
- Dumbledorito, on 09/16/2008, -5/+49That is the oddest Halo mod I've ever seen.
- KevSedzor, on 09/16/2008, -1/+0Jesus and i thought Wanted the movie with its mad bullets was silly!
- leerayIG88, on 09/16/2008, -1/+5I believed he had a belt that shielded himself for 100 damage.
- Tolzmaniac, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11Woah! my heart stopped when I thought the cap that fell off was part of his skull.
It even had red lining inside. I thought he was scalped! - legoalert33, on 09/16/2008, -1/+2Facepalm in thumbnail ftw.

- OOZAROO, on 09/16/2008, -5/+0they are speaking redneck... translated it sounds like this:
holy jeeze man.... boom headshot! - INDOAZZ, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3Now that is Scary.
- eelwrolyat, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2It clearly wasn't his time to go.
- centran, on 09/16/2008, -2/+2Can a ricocheted bullet really kill you? Now, I understand if it hit your eye or something but does it really have that much force left to cause death. I would think at worst it would be like those "less lethal" BBs... and no, I am not talking about airsoft but the serious ***** that military and law enforcement has.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8It depends on several factors, but yes you could easily be killed.
- wrs123, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3It looks like the rifle he was shooting was .30x6, and the target was only about 25 meters away. A big round like that has alot of momentum and will certainly still be pretty dangerous off a ricochet from that short a range
- WestonP, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3Yes, but it's less likely, as the bullet has less energy and may be tumbling. It's plenty dangerous either way though. Don't shoot at rocks!
- BECoole, on 09/17/2008, -0/+5Theoretically, yes. Practically, not likely. But you can lose an eye real easy.
Generally, when a round hits something hard enough to rebound like that, the target was hard enough to deform and fragment the round too. The deformation makes it much less aerodynamic, thus the round sheds velocity quickly. Fragments can hurt you, but having much less mass than the original projectile, they don't carry nearly the energy.
The worst rounds for ricocheting are low velocity rounds like handguns, because the rounds don't fragment very much. Then there are the steel core, AP-type bullets. Those are nasty. And homogeneous bullets, like solid bronze .50 are real nasty too.
A .50 is just huge. Even if it loses 1/2 it's weight it going to hurt. The round starts out at nearly 2 ounces (actually 750 grains). Anytime you get hit by almost 2 ounces of metal moving at any velocity, you are going to get hurt.
This is why you don't shoot at steel targets with highpower rifles.- limoo, on 09/18/2008, -0/+1I'd like to add that it's not just the loss of velocity, the bullet will also penetrate poorly, since it will most probably be spinning end-over-end or in some odd direction, so it's probably gonna feel like someone threw a small stone really hard at you.
- Ihateyourface, on 09/16/2008, -2/+66These guys must just be really unlucky or this crap is just 100% FAKE http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ...
Same location, same dudes, another "unlucky ricochet" I call BS.- thundercloud39, on 09/16/2008, -0/+4The tree lines in both vids are IDENTICAL. Yeah, one or both must be a fake, but a very good on at that.
- xaxxon, on 09/16/2008, -0/+20I see your BS and raise you some horse *****.
- Ihateyourface, on 09/17/2008, -2/+2I'm all in
- fearziz, on 09/17/2008, -3/+1same fake accent too!
- SuperMoses, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Everything no break is fake
- colinodell, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2Watch the angle the hat comes off his head. Its being pulled down and to the left. There's no way a ricochet could take his hat off on that angle. It would have to ricochet up and to the right, off a second object, and then down and towards his head. And I'm pretty sure they would've called 911.
- Ihateyourface, on 09/17/2008, -0/+3Plus a bullet can not generate enough force to make a hat fly. As someone already stated it has been proven already on film. The only gun that was able to make a hat fly was a shotgun ,everything else simply went through the hat without hardly moving it at all.
- djfrey, on 09/17/2008, -0/+4Unfortunately, the immutable laws of physics contradict the whole premise of your account. Allow me to reconstruct this if I may for Ms. Benes as I've heard this story a number of times. Newman, Kramer, if you'll indulge me. According to your story, Hernandez passes you and starts walking up the ramp. Then you say you were struck on the right temple. The spit then proceeds to ricochet off the temple striking Newman between the third and fourth rib. The spit then came off the rib turned and hit Newman in the right wrist causing him to drop his baseball cap. The spit then splashed off the wrist, pauses --in mid air, mind you-- makes a left turn and lands on Newman's left thigh. That is one magic loogie.
- Qumahlin, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1You mean it generates too much force. While it is fake a ricochet would easily be slowed to sufficient velocity to knock the hat off of someone before either tearing through it, or even settling in it.
- Ihateyourface, on 09/17/2008, -0/+0Ya, my bad.
- Dumbledorito, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Down... and to the left.
Down... and to the left.
- PseudoThink, on 09/17/2008, -0/+3@Ihateyourface: Awesome investigative work
- bitterbug, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2Is this the same guys too? http://www.break.com/index/guy-nearly-crushed-by-f ...
- S1ngular1ty1, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1The bullet came back with too much force. And it is very hard to ricochet straight back where the bullet came from. More likely the bullet would just disintegrate or fly off at some angle.
- 0o0Moylan0o0, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1and I'll also add, that in this one, his arm isnt even bleeding. there was blood there, but it wasnt bleeding, definitely fake.
- XedLos, on 09/16/2008, -2/+17That's so fake. But great editing. Iwonder how they made the hat jump off? probably fishing line
- Ihateyourface, on 09/16/2008, -2/+9It is fake, here is another video, same place, same guys.
http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ...
Nothing more than a bunch of tards making fake videos for the interwebs. - mossrock, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1Yeah, and ketchup on his head.
- Ihateyourface, on 09/16/2008, -2/+9It is fake, here is another video, same place, same guys.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 09/16/2008, -0/+8This proves that having bad posture can save your life.
- urpwnd, on 09/16/2008, -1/+11clearly faked. as others have noted, there is another video (on the same site) of the same guys at the same location shooting at the same target. if you are smart enough to be able to edit the video for a convincing fake, one would imagine you...
a.) weren't stupid enough to get shot twice
b.) weren't stupid enough to post a second video after the first that basically says "hey, we faked the whole thing".
had i not seen the second video (on the recommendations of the first no less), i would've almost been convinced. - Gottlos, on 09/16/2008, -8/+3Didn't you hear French people smell and that they eat snails?
They're totally weird! :)
Flame on bitch. - floridiot2, on 09/16/2008, -1/+12BOOM HEADSHOT

- heartsblood, on 09/16/2008, -4/+1Do none of you people watch mythbusters? Even you don't how can you possibly be that stupid?
- Qumahlin, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2While it is fake, I hope you truly don't use mythbusters as your barometer of something truly being a myth. They aren't infallible and sometimes their experiments are setup in such a way that yes, normally something can't happen, but the bottom line is in real world scenarios it does. Hence why there can be a "freak incident" that takes quite a lot of data to accurately explain.
Look at their horrible episode about ninjas. They claimed an arrow catch or a sword catch is impossible. They are correct only when applied to the context of your average person. Some extraordinary people are capable of it. You can even look up footage on youtube of Shigeru Oyama doing a sword catch
- Qumahlin, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2While it is fake, I hope you truly don't use mythbusters as your barometer of something truly being a myth. - Saml01, on 09/16/2008, -0/+0Looks like ketchup.
- ramd3z, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2Fake - look at the quote above, same range, same scenario. Plus i think the camera man would have done something besides exactly what he did - in both cases.
- mnemy, on 09/16/2008, -1/+1Did he say "ohh turtleneck"? That's an interesting new curseword...
- Sneezyx, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1No, "tabernacle." In Quebec, they swear by insulting the Catholic church.
- JeffD, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Tabernac (its a french Canadian swear word)
- Vodd9, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2Definitely fake. Check the other videos of this person, like this one: http://www.break.com/index/man-vs-fence.html
- TheBlindGuy, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1How does this prove the other video is fake?
- Ihateyourface, on 09/17/2008, -0/+2The other video is fake because of this.
http://www.break.com/index/guy-hit-by270-clabier-r ...
I'm not saying it can't happen twice to the same people at the same place but, seriously.

- wwwonka, on 09/17/2008, -1/+9not only busted, but MYTHbusted!
How do we know?
Well Adam and, um...um...the other dude with the beret proved you can't do it!
http://mythbustersresults.com/episode79- Ihateyourface, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1Good work.
- wondertwins, on 09/17/2008, -1/+1Jamie Heinamen... i think thats how u spell his last name
- DubiousDrewski, on 09/17/2008, -0/+1I think you're missing something. In the Mythbusters episode, they were shooting directly into the hats and the bullet would have had minimal surface contact with the hat. But in this video, the bullet was tumbling after bouncing off of the stone embankment and then the ground before striking his hat. If the slug hit lengthways and from below (which you can see that it does in the video), then I think it's entirely possible for enough energy to be transferred to a hat to make it pop off.
I still think it's fishy that there are two videos of the same type of event though.
- Antz0rz, on 09/17/2008, -0/+14Well. The people were speaking french, the bullet must have been french, so naturally it retreated.
