Five Reasons We Think Diablo III Will Be Announced This Week
1up.com — This weekend, Blizzard's 2008 Worldwide Invitational kicks off in Paris, France, and it will host the official unveiling of Diablo III. Why do we state it so confidently? Behold these reasons five....
- 956 diggs
- digg it
- NightRiderkami, on 06/25/2008, -0/+41I'd be surprised if it wasn't Diablo 3
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3I hope it is Diablo 3 because of the way they built it up. If it turns out it's not, many people will be disappointed.
- estvir, on 06/26/2008, -0/+14I'll form a mob with pitchforks and march to Blizzard headquarters if it isn't Diablo3.
- bosssmiley, on 06/26/2008, -1/+13I can see the WoW chat now: "LFG for raid on Blizzard HQ." :-)
- Omek, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5I'll bring the tar and feathers. ;-)
- estvir, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1We'll meet at the town square and remember to bring a torch.
- CarzorStelatis, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3@estvir:
You picked up the Screaming Torch of Bashing, equip it now? - supaklaw, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Yes meet in the square and Deckard Cain will identify your armor for free... oh dear.... Pants of Shatting, worth 10gp. Weep wah.
- saikyan, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2A mob of cows?
mmoooOOOoooooo
- FlopinDonkFest, on 06/26/2008, -7/+2Not gonna be D3... not on the site as underdevelopment and the graphics are clearly from Lich King... I played D2 for a long time and want a D3 as much as the next guy, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
- kublerross, on 06/26/2008, -0/+8just please god dont let it be another pay per month MMORPG
diablo has always been primarily a single player game! dont screw us blizzard! - sint4x, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I kind of want to see them introduce a completely new game, to see what they can come up with. They have just been improving previous franchise games lately.
- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1it would be nice to see something fresh... but how about after diablo 3?
- Nobi-Wan, on 06/27/2008, -0/+2Blackthorne 2 for the Wii!
- skennedy, on 06/25/2008, -1/+42It has to be. The fact that Blizzard took the Diablo3.com domain last month is very telling.
- musntSurfatWork, on 06/26/2008, -0/+0wouldn't it be in their best interest to own that domain name anyways? I think it will be worth more as time goes on if they hadn't already. Is Diablo 4 and 5 still for sale? Is WorldofDiablo up for sale? Is Starcraft III available?
If they are, I'd buy them now and secure some retirement income. I wonder how many game sequel domain names are up for grabs. - achoi, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Or maybe they just didn't want some arbitrary dude posing as Blizzard and stealing Blizzard's thunder away from WOTLK when arbitrary dude launches a credible looking fake site stating "DIABLO III COMING SOON!"
Or even worse, when abitrary dude's fake Diablo3.com site ends up in the hands of phishers. That'll bring a few irate customers to Blizzard's doorstep with lawsuits. Blizzard may just be looking to avoid that situation altogether.
In any case, my guess is those are Arthas' eyes. I won't be upset if I'm proven wrong, however. I can wait for the official announcement. - m0laria, on 06/26/2008, -4/+1Diablo3.com was registered December 1st, 1998. What are you are referring too is when they renewed their registration June 17th, 2008.
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp? ...
*Oops, apparently blizzard didn't register it then. It was a fan site until April 2007 (via archive.org). Which means that blizzard has probably owned it for over a year, which I still think disproves your hypothesis.
- decepticrat, on 06/25/2008, -1/+30Diablo II was, and likely still is, my favorite online-multiplayer game of all time. I spent months on end developing characters and playing the levels over and over again. Never got old! I had a druid/bear that couldn't be beaten, hehe.
Man, I don't know whether I'm excited or apprehensive at the possibility of Diablo III... lol :)- djseligman, on 06/25/2008, -1/+10Diablo II=Best game ever!
- tehgoatman, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1for those who don't play d2 just know that all bear druids do is sit inside town and let their bear hangout outside town and it usually can only kill people who dont have their gear on.
- dleesgeetar, on 06/25/2008, -1/+16funny how i've played about everything from Blizzard but the Diablo series, maybe i'll have to try this one
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+14Diablo II is still worth a run-through while you wait. Better prepare your clicking finger though =)
- musntSurfatWork, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Create a macro with a Logitech G15 keyboard, insert timed delays for LMB clicks.
- Ismith988, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1click click click click
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+14Diablo II is still worth a run-through while you wait. Better prepare your clicking finger though =)
- jaxomlotus, on 06/25/2008, -12/+6Blizzard tried to sue me once, so on principal I will not play Diablo. But if I did, I would want to play Diablo 3.
- jaybol, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4maybe they will apologize in exchange for you playing their game again. sort of as an olive branch gesture. just call and tell them that if they say they are really sorry you will play the game. and have them give it to you for free.
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+13Why did they try to sue you?
- theshiz892, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9I would like to know this also. I would assume they had a good reason.
- Rudegar, on 06/26/2008, -4/+2indecent exposure? :P
- theshiz892, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9I would like to know this also. I would assume they had a good reason.
- etx313, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2OP is Chinese Gold Farmer.
- MarkDykeman, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6Here's hoping...
- bixby1, on 06/25/2008, -0/+16Convinced at reason #4, a German says so. Brace yourselves!
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5The article made it pretty clear that it's unreliable, but seriously, the "hell freezes over" and "cow" sentence is a HUGE hint... I don't think that's a coincidence at all!
- etx313, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1Because Zee Germans say so.
- cobracommander, on 06/25/2008, -0/+11Reminds me of sitting in my boxers and eating red vines + dr. pepper during summer nights whilst playing the first diablo years ago. Fun fun.

- digitalmoto, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7a great gaming franchise - how could they not put out III.
- iamjboyd, on 06/26/2008, -1/+7omg omg omg
- ArchetypeRyan, on 06/26/2008, -1/+32Exploding corpses are about to become a whole lot more popular.
- LimeParrot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9I hope it is so that all the Diablo fans can be happy. I'm still waiting for Freespace 3 (which is pretty much impossible :'[ )
- Balathustrius, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I logged in to digg you up. Freespace FTW!

- lcmatt, on 06/26/2008, -0/+8The hours I used to spend doing Baal runs just so my necro could acquire the full matching armour.
- username484767, on 06/26/2008, -11/+2Most likely not. Would be a poor business move.
- threemagic, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Yah.. I can't imagine a business wanting to keep alive one of the most successful game franchise of all time.
What do you think the board meeting was like?
person 1: Hey, how about we make Diablo 3?
person 2: The franchise has done quite well and tens of thousands still play Diablo 2 on battlenet and the game is 10 years old!
person 3: Diablo 3 is a great idea.. it will sell without question!
board chairman: NO! NO DIABLO 3! SCREW THE FANS!! SCREW MONEY! I want a new game altogether...I don't think the lawn mowing emulation is a market that's been tapped... we should try that route.- DragonForce4, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1LAWN MOWING TO THE EXTREEEEEEME
CUT THAT GRASS *****
- DragonForce4, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1LAWN MOWING TO THE EXTREEEEEEME
- savethehobos, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I have to disagree. Diablo 2 was never meant to be a entirely hardcore mmo. It just happened to be a great small multiplayer game( I use small because only 8 were allowed in a given server at one time). And since they have the WoW expansion pack on the horizon as well, this game is probably being a few years off, then another year because blizzard likes to push everything back because they want to put out a decent product.
Another factor you have to add in is that Diablo is NOT an MMO franchise, and you could argue that Warcraft wasn't either. But as a single-player/LAN game, Diablo is the best for click combat. Why would they move away from a proven system that was continue to prove itself over the course of 10 years. Blizzard is not the kind of gaming company that goes for off the wall, lets make as much money as we can while ***** the gamer, video games. They make games that work. And work well. If there is an issue. It gets patched.
Diablo 3 would not be a bad business move because it is not an MMO, and its not an RTS. The only way that it could be a bad move would be if they decided to make it into an MMO and if they did, I still don't think it would be a bad business move. It wouldn't neccissarliy be cool of them, because you'd probably have people trying to play WoW and D3, but Blizzard would still make plenty of money off of it and it would be a great game.
- threemagic, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Yah.. I can't imagine a business wanting to keep alive one of the most successful game franchise of all time.
- chrgrose, on 06/26/2008, -1/+7Its either a Diablo sequal or a completely new franchise. I do recall Blizzard kind of hinting at a new franchise at previous events and such.
- vanishedlight, on 06/26/2008, -1/+15diablo 3's coming out? but i'm not done with diablo 2 yet!
- rentmitchum, on 06/26/2008, -0/+15Starcraft 2 on the horizon and now possible Diablo 3? I can't handle this much joy. It burns us.
- 12340987, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1They're still working on SC2, it doesn't seem like they would take on two huge titles at the same time. Although it would be nice if they announced diablo 3 because maybe that would mean SC2 is nearing completion.
- pdavda, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1I know what you mean, its almost to good to be true
- drimsun, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5Ah how I missed those MF runs!
- Julz, on 06/26/2008, -4/+6if you look closely the markings on the ice in the splash screen at www.worldofwarcraft.com, they match the markings on the sword called frostmorn, which is the lich kings sword. I'm pretty sure it will be announcement of the release date of Wrath of the Lich King. Have a look at the sword and the markings here: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1023/swordhd3.j ...
- Fastine, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Correction - One of the markings matches Frostmourne. The one currently at the top right matches a rune (Hel?) in Diablo II, the one at the bottom left is a protoss symbol, and I haven't confirmed the one on the bottom right.
I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the announcement of the release date. They have never teased a release date before, only new game announcements. Plus, many a Blizzard employee has stated "A new game is being announced at WWI". - MalkyMalc, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Looks like WotLK ice to me...
With symbols from all the franchises...
I'm sure it's just a countdown to the WWI. But that doesn't mean Diablo 3 isn't coming.- enicholas, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1While it may be WotLK-related, it's worth pointing out that (to my knowledge) Blizzard has only pulled stunts like this for new major game announcements. WoW got one, and so did Starcraft II... did they do this for BC or WotLK's initial announcements? I'm not sure, but I don't think they did. Surely those were more major than anything WotLK-related they could be announcing now.
- ccbbb23, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2The angle and the spacing of the eyes on the splash screen match those on the Wrath of the Litch King page.
The blues of the ice on both pages seem to match perfectly as well.
I would love Diablo III, but it looks like more WoW stuff.
- Fastine, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Correction - One of the markings matches Frostmourne. The one currently at the top right matches a rune (Hel?) in Diablo II, the one at the bottom left is a protoss symbol, and I haven't confirmed the one on the bottom right.
- dixienormous101, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7can someone copy/paste the article, or the main reasons into the comments? Work block-age :(. This game's gonna kick so much ass...

(P.S I used to have to deal with work blockage, anything to help out some poor bastard with a tightass running the proxy!)
Five Reasons We Think Diablo III Will Be Announced
Nothing's official, but we build our case for why we expect the unveiling.
By Kris Pigna, 06/25/2008
This weekend, Blizzard's 2008 Worldwide Invitational kicks off in Paris, France, and it will host the official unveiling of Diablo III.
Okay, we have absolutely no official information to back that up. So why, then, do we state it so confidently? Simple: Last year's Invitational in Seoul, South Korea hosted the unveiling of Starcraft II, and we've compiled a hefty list of evidence that clearly suggests Diablo III will follow in its Zergling footsteps. Behold these reasons five:
Reason the First: Blizzard's Big Tease
Remember when we said the teaser image that showed up on a Blizzard splash screen the other day was most likely for Wrath of the Lich King? Uh, we're going to have to call a mulligan on that. There have been some updates to the image since it first showed up, and while it's not conclusively pointing toward Diablo III, it's certainly not conclusively pointing toward Wrath of the Lich King, either.
DiabloFans has done some bang-up detective work on this, and they've discovered a number of interesting aspects to the tease. When it first showed up, there was an image visible in the ice that resembled a rune from the Frostmourne sword, which Warcraft fans would know seemed to suggest a Wrath of the Lich King connection. But yesterday, another rune showed up that clearly resembled the Hel Rune from Diablo II. Confirmation! Clearly this means the teaser points to a Diablo III announcement, right?
Well, not necessarily. There was yet another update today, and this time there's a rune resembling the Akilae Tribe symbol from Starcraft II. This means all three of Blizzard's big franchises have gotten a nod in the tease so far, with two more runes likely showing up tomorrow and Friday. Confusing things even further is that with each day, an additional segment of a piece of concept art has been revealed in the master.CSS of the splash page, and when put together it evidently may be some sort of...monstrous penguin?
Okay, so what does it all mean? Well...hell if we know, to be honest. But it is worth noting, as DiabloFans has, that so far the runes are shaping up into what may work out into a pentagram shape. Pentagrams are certainly hellish, aren't they? And not for nothing, but it does look like that ice is melting as though something really hot was underneath. Doesn't it? Doesn't it? Hmm....
Reason the Second: Diablo's Domain
While we're on the subject, guess what DiabloFans.com used to be called? Diablo3.com, until Blizzard acquired the domain name from the site's owner back in May. Website domain names are registered for plenty of reasons, though; it could be as simple as a company wanting the peace of mind of owning every possible aspect of their IP. We would have easily guessed Blizzard's intentions were simply cautionary, but the timing (and all the additional evidence surrounding it) makes us wonder if they don't have bigger intentions for the site after all. Every now and then a company has to register a domain name because they actually plan to use it, right?
Reason the Third: We Know a New Game Announcement is Coming
That is, at least, if Xfire is to be believed. Back on Friday the 13 (spooky!), DiabloII.com noticed a now-edited update on Xfire regarding the Invitational, which originally read in part, "follow the opening ceremony and discover what new game will be announced in our chat rooms together with hundreds of other Blizzard fans." Yes, new game (which happens to be the part of the announcement that was later redacted). Of course, that doesn't at all mean it's necessarily Diablo III, but again, added with all the other evidence, it sure is easy to read it that way.
Reason the Fourth: A German Magazine Said So (Sort of)
Okay, we're getting a bit desperate here, but what the hell -- no self-respecting bout of wild speculation is complete until you scrape the bottom of the barrel. Earlier this month, Blizzplanet posted a story they picked up from German magazine PC Action. In its latest issue, the mag printed this scintillating riddle (translated from its original German):
"30.05.2008 10:55 - We found out some secret information about a much awaited game, from a very well known game developer, whom we can't name.
Sounds extremely important, doesn't it? Let's say: Pure thought about it makes our bedsheets wet. Got any ideas? Post them in the comments. Even if the hell froze and cows gave beer - we would spill nothing out!"
You see, because they said hell, and they said cows, they may be hinting at Diablo III! ("Cows" being a reference to the secret Cow Level in Diablo II.) Hey, we said bottom of the barrel, didn't we?
Reason the Fifth: What Else Would Blizzard Make?
Look, there are two certainties in life -- Macho Man Randy Savage is the baddest dude on the planet, and corporations will do whatever makes them money. Square Enix will probably remake Final Fantasy VII, George Lucas will probably make another proper Star Wars movie (and we don't mean this Clone Wars crap), and Blizzard will make Diablo III.
In fact, they kind of already did -- we have it on good authority that Diablo-creator Blizzard North was working on Diablo III back in 2005, before the studio was dissolved in August of that year, and the game was scrapped. And as recently as 2006, Blizzard was still hinting at wanting to continue the Diablo franchise, when COO Paul Sams said in an interview, "StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time. As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2." If we at least know Blizzard wanted to make Diablo III at one point, why would anything have changed since then?
And really, barring a Diablo III announcement, what else would Blizzard make? World of Warcraft is a self-perpetuating machine (with a brand new expansion incoming), Starcraft II is on its way sometime this year, and unless Blizzard is planning to announce The Lost Vikings 3: Vegas Stakes, that only leaves Diablo as the last (recently) untapped major franchise from the star developer. A recently untapped franchise that, when tapped again, will probably earn Blizzard another nonillion damn dollars.
To cut to the chase: If there isn't a Diablo III announcement by the end of this week, we'll eat our hats. (Please don't hold us to that, though.)
- abrasion, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9Text only, images missing.
- bonjourmr, on 06/26/2008, -1/+30Hope its an entirely new game, just to piss every party with a theory off.
- alanr19, on 06/26/2008, -8/+26. Because you are an industry shill website who promises positive reviews you get the inside scoop on game announcement/arrival dates.
EDIT: Ooopps this isn't Gamespot sorry, wrong site. - Frostman3D, on 06/26/2008, -9/+3Blizzard would be retarded if they didn't make Diablo 3 next. In fact, I'd love to see World of Diablo to be honest.
- Tugsy, on 06/26/2008, -5/+1It would be the most logical move, they have a winning formula in WOW, so to apply that to the immensely popular Diablo franchise would make sense. That said, it would not appeal to me...
- Fastine, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5I wouldn't play "World of Diablo". Diablo is awesome because of it's LAN-ability and single-player aspects. If it goes MMO, that part is out.
Plus they would be competing with themselves which doesn't make sense. - UltX, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4I'd prefare it if Diablo was kept as it was. Thanks.
- Fastine, on 06/26/2008, -1/+5I wouldn't play "World of Diablo". Diablo is awesome because of it's LAN-ability and single-player aspects. If it goes MMO, that part is out.

- BDOUG, on 06/26/2008, -3/+5I've been hoping for a long time they'll do a Starcraft game using the Diablo/Diablo II engine. We'd have a Terran, Zerg, or Protoss character that we could "dungeon crawl" derelict spaceships and hostile planetscapes with. Obviously it wouldn't be called Diablo III.
- luckyguy2000, on 06/26/2008, -7/+8the (entirely-made-up) chances are:
45% diablo3
35% lich king
15% new franchise
5% starcraft2- mythicflux, on 06/26/2008, -0/+290% of statistics can be made to say anything.... 50% of the time.
- omestes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Might be an announce for the actual date of WotLK. Doubtful that its Starcraft 2, though, since that has already been announced.
Diablo3 will be interesting, didn't something like half the original devs go away?- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1the team that worked on diablo 1 and 2 was blizzard north... which most (if not all) did break away from blizzard to make their own company. They created Flagship Studios which recently (well october) released Hellgate: London. which was just a mess from the get-go. it was so bugged some people couldn't even continue the story line from a few quests in.... i remember getting to level 6, having my game crash, i logged back in and everything was black and white and i couldn't finish the quest i was doing. i stopped playing the game right there.
although those first 6 levels were really fun. but i heard they didn't release a patch that fixed these issues for over a month.

- xeyne, on 06/26/2008, -4/+2it would be quite lol'able if it were SC: Ghost, mayb they foold us n sed "yah, we not gonna do this anymore" but secretly they've been developing
btw the new pic is now also a splash for WoW sites (but not for diablo or sc sites), n the face kinda looks like a archon.- Nosferotu, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2I can't read your jibberish. English or GTFO.
- Rudegar, on 06/26/2008, -6/+1if it's not diablo3 then it better be starcraft3 having gon gold!! :P
- Aberen, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Yeah, because Starcraft 3 totally exists
- aristan, on 06/26/2008, -1/+12I love Diablo & play WoW now, but seriously guys. They're about to release Lich King which already has been shown to have ice & snow theming. I think they're about to debut a new version of WorldofWarcraft.com themed for the new expansion pack. The same way they did a couple of months prior to The Burning Crusade coming out. Diablo's website gets the icy makeover because it redirects back to Blizzard's main website. Sorry, Diablo 3... maybe not.
But I SO would buy it if it did come out lol.- Fastine, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Hmm. WotLK has ice, and the splash is ice. Don't you think that would've been a -little- too obvious? You must think real low of Blizzard...
- snoogit, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1"They're about to release Lich King which already has been shown to have ice & snow theming."
^^^ Why isn't this more obvious?
This whole build-up thing is nothing more then announcing something about the new WoW expansion. - MalkyMalc, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Agreed, the image probably means very little. But lets not forget that the evidence for a new game being announced at the WWI is mounting up...
- kupa, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5just a thought, but diablo II did end in Act5, a mostly snowy and icy area situated around, on, and within Mt. Arreat.
plus "hell has frozen over, D3!" doesn't make any sense at all? in light of sc2's "Hell, It's about time" it sort of works don't you think?- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1bingo
- ArchetypeRyan, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Holy crap! Diablo's website directs back to the frozen splash screen?? Obviously, your argument had the intended effect. :P
- CurlyFoot, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9There goes another semester down the drain...
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/26/2008, -5/+3Diablo II is intimately connected in my mind with the 9/11 attacks, as it was during playing this game I heard about it, a buddy said "turn on the tv RIGHT NOW", and the second tower went down shortly after I started watching.
- ccbbb23, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7Warty, Recode the mind. You can do it.

I was having sex with the radio on when John Lennon was shot and killed. You think I think of Mark David Chapman and John Lennon every time I have sex?- HouseCentipede, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Yes.

- Rudegar, on 06/26/2008, -6/+0doh! i of cause ment starcraft2
- mrgreen371, on 06/26/2008, -6/+1I have $20 on World of Starcraft.
- Zeal0t, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4i'd say the supposed eyes on the latest splash image are a bit too far apart for it to be arthas/lich king.
- Rhendal, on 06/26/2008, -1/+29I love how everyone is looking at the Ice and the names of the secret pictures are "Cold", "Tundra", "Cavern" and "Icy" and is thinking Wrath of the Lich King or Diablo Act 5. Doesn't anyone else stop and realize that the name of the company itself is Blizzard?
- MalkyMalc, on 06/26/2008, -1/+8Hah! Good point.
- TsarDusan, on 06/26/2008, -0/+7now i just feel stupid
- abrasion, on 06/26/2008, -3/+1I'm betting it's the WOW expansion beta, not diablo 3.
It matches that shot of Arthas's sword on the site way way too closely, even down to the colour of the ice and stuff for the sword.
I do hope you Diablo fans get D3 of course, I don't like it myself but you guys deserve a break :)
As one of the few who absoloutely loved Warcraft 3 (SP and MP) I do hope we get looked after again one day too, without too much tie in to the darn MMO too.- Rhendal, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Why would they announce Wrath of the Lich King if they already announced it? also, the one rune is from Arthas' sword, but how about the Diablo Hel rune and the Starcraft Protoss insignia? eh? EH?
- abrasion, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I know about the other stuff but I swear the colour, the ice - I'm thinking WOTLK, maybe open beta date, maybe release date - but not D3
I kinda hope I'm wrong but who knows.- Rhendal, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Like i mentioned in an earlier comment, the name of the company is Blizzard. Their logo is blue and usually has some form of ice on it. They may announce beta or the release date of WotLK, but that's definitely not what the splash screen is about.
- abrasion, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I know about the other stuff but I swear the colour, the ice - I'm thinking WOTLK, maybe open beta date, maybe release date - but not D3
- kupa, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2we know for sure it's a game announcement though. why would they announce wotlk again? >.>
- Rhendal, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4Why would they announce Wrath of the Lich King if they already announced it? also, the one rune is from Arthas' sword, but how about the Diablo Hel rune and the Starcraft Protoss insignia? eh? EH?
- Striss, on 06/26/2008, -0/+14The numbers on the jpegs that make up the weird purple monster so far are "4, 15, 16, 23". That's the Lost numbers...which seems like a hint to Lost Vikings. But that only means Blizzard loves screwing with our heads, and it could still be absolutely anything. Blizzard are pure evil.
- oriyn142, on 06/26/2008, -1/+18Hopefully this one won't cost $15/mo to play...
- Ymeg, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1why would it?
- ShugNinx21, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Blizzard likes money...
- Ymeg, on 06/26/2008, -2/+1why would it?
- krazykaz, on 06/26/2008, -3/+0I would think there would be more diggs about all this.
- Eldorian, on 06/26/2008, -0/+12They forgot the fact that June 29th is the 8th anniversary of the release of Diablo 2.
And there's a big press conference at WWI Sunday June 29th (I'll be there) - xtmno3, on 06/26/2008, -0/+9I don't see what all the fuss is. Even if they announce Diablo 3, it will be like 6 years before it gets made. It is blizzard we are talking about here.
- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3diablo 3 is worth the wait.
- DonAndy, on 06/27/2008, -1/+1No, it's not.
- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3diablo 3 is worth the wait.
- MemoryDump, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4you can see some glowing eyes now on that splash screen
http://www.blizzard.com/us/splash.html;jsessionid= ... - strictlybogart, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6Diablo 3, KOTOR 3, Fallout 3, Battlefront 3
There's something about having to wait for 3's for a very long time.- meateh, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1You forgot HL2 Episode 3
- woulok, on 06/26/2008, -0/+14My pants are at full tent even thinking about Diablo III
- phanfromcheese, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1I thought that was just a roll of dimes in your pocket.
- banido, on 06/26/2008, -0/+46. Job Ad
http://sc2pod.com/news/Countdown_to_Diablo_3/
"Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for a 3D environment artist skilled at creating models and texture maps for both objects and natural environments."
Why would they only say "the developer of Diablo and Diablo II"?- CarzorStelatis, on 06/26/2008, -4/+1Because those are their best known non-Warcraft games?
- Gregus1032, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4personally i think starcraft is more popular.
- MadxHatTeR, on 06/26/2008, -1/+1Starcraft is more popular, i still love Warcraft 2 though.

- monkeystick, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Well I hope they fix the battlenet lag for D3.. D2 is virtually unplayable online as it is right now (US East anyway).
- enicholas, on 06/26/2008, -2/+2I'm pretty sure the developers of the world's largest MMORPG will be able to pull off a lag-free D3.
- Andrwmorph, on 06/26/2008, -1/+6Lost Vikings 3 ftw!
- CosmicShadow, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2maybe all the different runes in the ice is pointing to a game where everyone has fun in the same universe....
