Dad gets 18 months for forcing girl to kill cat
cnn.com — A man was sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting that he forced his 7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the pet. "I am extremely sorry for what I did," Danield J. Collins said during his sentencing Thursday. "Everything is my responsibility."

cowboy: This is about the abuse of the children more than the cat. Sadly, crimes against animals are not really punished. Certainly not harshly, at least. The 18months is for the abuse and neglect of the kids.. which really is the greater evil.
- judicar, on 08/30/2008, -17/+77When I was 9 my dad did the same thing, except it wasn't a cat it was a deer and he made me use a rifle instead of a knife.

- cowboy77061, on 08/30/2008, -24/+7your dad should go to jail.
- wyzzerdd, on 08/30/2008, -8/+43This is different, the dad strangled the cat right in front of the kids then made his daughter kill a family pet which she loved. She was forced to kill it by hand which is a lot more personal then shooting a deer from a distance.
- graphictruth, on 08/30/2008, -17/+48Various such rituals are in fact a rite of passage in many Klan and Christian Identity Movement families.
And it's not about learning to kill for food - it's about learning to enjoy killing, especially things to weak to fight back. It's to instill the idea that those weaker than you deserve to be exploited, even killed for no better reason than your own amusement and enjoyment. The quintessential distillation of this is Dick Cheney's favorite sport - Quail Hunting, where tame quail are released in front of the guns so that they may be slaughtered by drunken fools.

Actually I gut-shot it with the first shot so I had to track it down by its blood trail and shoot it point-blank in the face with a .303 British. No nightmares here.
That's not to justify what he did, but the reality is that that kid is not going to be scarred for life unless her family treats her like a victim and she uses this as a crutch to blame every failure and weakness on as she goes through life. - Username652719, on 08/30/2008, -6/+13@judicar

- waahooo, on 08/31/2008, -2/+5The major difference is that a cat is a domesticated pet. Deers, on the other hand, are wild animals (and some consider them pests). Killing game and killing a domesticated pet are on completely different levels. Might as well compare it to killing a fish.

It must be nice to live in that world. No killing is not nice but as a member of this ecosystem I have learned that occasionally it is necessary ((Not to defend a person who killed a healthy cat (kitten).)). It would be just as bad of me to say that all pro-lifers are abortion clinic bombers or that all tree huggers go out at night to drive steel spikes into trees. Hunting is not murder, possible a reason that people take this mentality is that they have grown too far from their roots to understand that killing to eat/live may still be necessary in some parts of the world both directly and indirectly.
Not to defend a person who killed a healthy cat (kitten).
To quote my father for the umpteenth time "I would rather shoot a person then a cow."

Bardo Thodol - bluezinc, on 08/31/2008, -0/+5I see your point, but it's not as traumatizing as killing your house cat that you've invested your time and emotions into. If you hung out with the deer for a few years, THEN were forced to kill it, that'd be something different.
- BabyWookie, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2I bet that you didn't raise that deer since he was a fawn and was then forced to shoot him.
- JapaneseEconomy, on 08/30/2008, -3/+5Although its not mentioned in the link this might be a case of a psychological breakdown and the result of delusional hallucinatory schizophrenia or an episode of psychosis. - carve, on 08/30/2008, -14/+3I know I'll get buried for this, but here it goes. The guy is sick and cruel, but it is not illegal to kill your own cat, or to make your kid take part in that. - coolcash2005, on 08/30/2008, -2/+12It is illegal. Have you never heard of animal cruelty? If it wasn't illegal, they couldn't have prosecuted him.

- StriderNemesis, on 08/31/2008, -4/+4I think saying that she's scarred for life is an exaggeration. Our society has not reached a point in which killing a cat is the same as killing a human being. While she may be traumatized now, she should and probably will be able to heal mentally and move on. That said, I too think that 18 months is on the lenient side for killing a domestic pet just to show your kids how it's done, while torturing them psychologically.
- fuzzybeard, on 08/31/2008, -3/+5Respectfully, I disagree. From what I have read, serial killers start out with torturing, then killing domestic animals; then they tend to move up to larger prey.
I think (hope, & pray) the eleven year-old boy will turn out acceptably close to normal. The 7 year-old girl...*sharp intake of breath*...I'm afraid I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up in the news again within the next twenty years; and I don't mean for anything positive, if you take my meaning. - BlackOp, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1This isn't going to turn her into a serial killer. You're an idiot, you can't turn people into others into serial killers by one act of abuse when drunk. Maybe if this guy was truly ***** up and abused these kids their whole lives for fun, they would have problems later, but usually people have something seriously wrong with them, not just from psychological abuse, to get pleasure from killing others.

Killing an animal for food and forcing your children to kill their own beloved pet are hardly simmilar in any way.- MWeather, on 08/30/2008, -4/+23What if it was their pet rabbit?
- anotherjack, on 08/30/2008, -1/+17...if it was their pet rabbit then it would be news, but then everyone would argue about the right/crime of killing animals for food. They'd all argue about the morality of vegetarians, or hunting, or farming practices. Totally missing the part where a drunk ***** makes his kids stab their pet rabbit so they can learn how to KILL.
That it's an indoor *cat* makes it easier for people to NOT miss the point of: "drunk ***** makes kids stab the family pet cuz he's feeling nihilistic and wants to share" As in, about child abuse and insanity and depravity and drunkeness. - zomglolcats, on 08/30/2008, -3/+9"...if it was their pet rabbit then it would be news"
Actually, my father raised rabbits as a kid, had them as pets, and they also ate them. His family was poor. And this was like circa 1950. But still :P - DarkShroud, on 08/30/2008, -2/+6Raising rabbits as pets that are later be eaten is still common in more rural areas, especially if people are poor.
- geoboy, on 08/31/2008, -0/+7There's a difference between eating your pets out of necessity and forcing your daughter to kill the family pet. In the former case, it's usually dad who takes old yeller out back and shoots him so nobody else has to witness it. In the latter case... I can only see that method being used to turn children into future psychopaths.
- Rusker55, on 08/30/2008, -4/+75A rabbit for dinner is different than the FAMILY cat. This is basically having your daughter kill her own pet for no good reason.

We require B12 to live. If you do not eat meat, more than likely you take supplements or eat fortified foods. These contain B 12, which is an animal product. There are not many ways to get Vitamin B12 from a non-animal source, but there are a few.
1) Eat unwashed, organic fruits and vegetables.
2) Eat dirt.
3) Eat the ***** of an animal who has a bacteria in their intestines that produces B12 (We don't have this bacteria. Maybe this is why dogs eat cat *****?)
I don't know if many Vegans are aware of this fact, but I DO know that most Vitamin Pills contain B12. I just read that the Vegan Society suggest eating these suppliments. Since B12 has to do with nerves and formation of blood, you'd probably get messed up if you abstained from B12.

Yes, technically you're correct. You don't NEED meat. But I'd rather eat meat than dirt/*****. - fr3ddie, on 08/30/2008, -16/+6"We require B12 to live." ... but you dont run out for 5, 10, or even 30 ***** years. or so they say... IM FINE. people say ***** like this are only trying to back up their meat eating habits.... oh and by the way... asians eat cat. im sure if you eat at chinese restaurants you probably have too.
- directedition, on 08/30/2008, -2/+3What's that the whole point of the comment? That rabbits and cats given arbitrarily different treatment? What makes it acceptable to slaughter a rabbit and not a cat?
There's no way he would get jail time if it were a rabbit. - DarkShroud, on 08/30/2008, -1/+4@directedition, the difference is that in the West rabbit is recognized as a food source animal. As long as they are killed quickly instead of violently it's not an issue to most people.
- Acglaphotis, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4fr3ddie: Who gives a *****? I don't care what meat it is, if it tastes right I'll probably eat it. No one cares you're a vegetarian and especially no one on Digg.
- spaceddaisy, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2@fr3ddie
You think that way about B12 now, until you do get a deficiency and start losing your hair, start getting tingly sensations in your hands and feet or when it gets worse lose feeling entirely in your fingertips, become very tired for no good reason.
No it can take only a year of eating badly to get a deficiency, the only way to get rid of it is to get injections for a few months and taking iron tablets for the anemia you get from lack of B12. Tablets don't do much for B12.
Not saying you should eat meat, but seriously watch out for yourself and research it. My body is naturally messed up and my body doesn't absorb the B12 (or technically convert it), so I'm up for a lifetime of monthly shots, it's no fun. Be careful!

Oh and about the article, if the girl was forced to shoot a deer against her will or kill a rabbit, I would have felt the same way, the dad was forcing her to kill! But especially an animal that she has most likely spend yeas with is even more horrible.

- flyzipper, on 08/30/2008, -0/+39Anyone who kills their food animals by STABBING them to death, whether a child's present or not, is guilty of animal cruelty. The fact that this guy forced his kids to do it ... forced his kids to commit a felony ... that's where neglect of a dependent comes into the picture.
- fr3ddie, on 08/30/2008, -7/+9oh gimme a break, all of those animals you eat have to die somehow. whether its stabbing or ... well yea its probably stabbing.

- anotherjack, on 08/30/2008, -1/+8Beheading is slicing is different than stabbing.
Food animals are not usually stabbed cuz there is no point in making random cuts in meat. Chickens necks are broken or cut, cows are shot in the head with a bolt gun, fish are just asphyxiated cuz they're out of water - flyzipper, on 08/30/2008, -6/+2RE: "all of those animals you eat"
I'm vegetarian, but that's not relevant to the discussion so I didn't originally mention it. - stuffradio, on 08/30/2008, -1/+3@cowboy they chop the head off of chickens, not stab it.
- GianDoe, on 08/31/2008, -3/+6stabbing or chopping, really?! humanity is going to think itself into a retard coma. we're all animals, and our particular species eats other animals, typically after they're deceased, and not typically from natural causes. welcome to reality. there are vegetarians but we all still have canine teeth - it's genetic
- Timmaay, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4"oh gimme a break, all of those animals you eat have to die somehow. whether its stabbing or ... well yea its probably stabbing."
What you're talking about is completely different, this is a domesticated house cat, not cattle. - fuzzybeard, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3@ fr3ddie: Actually, there are government policies that spell out what is an acceptable way to slaughter an animal, and what is not. I have studied the subject at some length because I believe that if you are sickened at the thought of killing an animal to eat, then consuming meat anyway; you are one of the very worst kinds of hypocrite.
I have even witnessed cattle and swine being slaughtered; this is why I say thanks/say a blessing for the animal that I'm about to partake of.
Can you say the same?
Anyhoo, back to my point: Stabbing is not, nor has it ever been considered a humane means of slaughter. Accepted practice is usually exsanguination (slitting the throat) after being rendered unconscious. Kosher as well as Halal slaughter require that the animal be conscious and handled in such a way that inducing fear and panic is minimized to the greatest degree possible. The actual act in Kosher/Halal slaughter is to be performed thusly:
1) The cut shall be in ONE continuous stroke and must sever both pairs of carotid arteries and jugular veins, as well as the trachea.
2) The knife in question is required to have a perfect edge, i.e. no nicks burrs or abrasions that are visible to thorough visual and physical examination. - GianDoe, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1@ Timmay
dude, i didn't mean the cat, was responding to how people were distinguishing between stabbing or hacking the heads of chickens...either way we kill animals and eat them so it's ridiculous and i'd argue almost ignorant - getting smashed and making your children kill the family kitten for no reason other than to be horrifying is real ***** up man, no doubt

- Chicken, on 08/30/2008, -5/+24Nothing is wrong with the world today. Everytime an article like this pops up one of you guys always has to go "what is wrong with the world today?"
Its just an individual.. not the whole society.- anotherjack, on 08/30/2008, -1/+8Your question assumes a rational mind, but there is none in this case. If you want to know why/how some parents would choose to teach about death and killing animals, I can try to answer:
1) To teach your child to "kill" the rationale is to do it for food. I am not saying it is right, but thats how it works in a sane hunting society. You would take your child hunting for edible prey animals such as deer, turkey, show him/her how to kill, dress, and then take home and eat. A normal hunting parent would not consider this a lesson in how to "kill" but rather a demonstration of our place in the food chain, part of "the circle of life". A respectful hunter would not emphasise gore and pain for both the animal and the child.
2) You don't hunt for or kill a pet. A cat is a predator, not prey. Not tasty, either.
3) As a Navy vet, perhaps they taught him "how to kill"...which soldiers, not children, might have to learn. In the German SS soldiers would raise a dog from puppyhood and then murder it to join. I doubt the Navy does that, but I do wonder what in the hell they taught him... - graphictruth, on 08/30/2008, -3/+3"In the German SS soldiers would raise a dog from puppyhood and then murder it to join. "
...a disturbing parallel to the 4H Clubs of America. - BossKey, on 08/30/2008, -5/+5"...a disturbing parallel to the 4H Clubs of America."
In America, certain segments of society support forcing the raising of a child ("don't kill it! pro-life! pro-life!") and then murdering it to prove patriotism ("He's 18? Great! We need him to drive a convoy in Iraq. Don't worry, if he dies, he is a Hero of the Homeland"). - DarkShroud, on 08/30/2008, -3/+4@BossKey, it's a volunteer army. Everyone who is there signed up knowing they could goto war. No one forced them to join.
- griz, on 08/31/2008, -4/+3But something IS wrong with the world when it allows someone like this to come into existence.
- Acglaphotis, on 08/31/2008, -1/+3griz: So what do you propose? Indoctrination of everyone since birth? This happens because we are in a free world. Anything else wouldn't be free. You're blaming the whole world for the actions of one individual. Don't you realize how dumb that sounds?

- catxors, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1Huh? The first sentence implies that slugicide thinks it's a *good* thing--that there was more wrong with the world in the past.
- anotherjack, on 08/30/2008, -3/+16Yes, he is sick, but keep in mind he was drunk, and doing it inside a "blackout". Especially when an alchoholic is that drunk, they basically have a lizard's brain stem and a monkey's higher functions combined with an unrestrained human id. You aren't going to find any rational or moral thought behind this. Can I just take a minute here to ask all alcoholic parents reading this to not drink around your kids? It's unsafe for kids to be near a brain so ruined, and even if you cant remember what happened, they can.

- DivineMonkey, on 08/30/2008, -14/+73What a ***** asswipe.
People like him make me ashamed to be human.- Starkyy, on 08/30/2008, -2/+58Hey it could be worse...you could be a cat.
- Ch0chi, on 08/30/2008, -4/+52This is absurd! The Dad should be put in jail for a much longer term. Animal abuse is cruelty, and on top of that he made his daughter do the dirty work. What an arrogant little prick!
- MacGyver2210, on 08/30/2008, -11/+4Yeah, killing animals is terrible. Gee, it's a good thing humans don't routinely kill thousands of animals a day for food...
Oh wait...- ALiberalMind, on 08/30/2008, -2/+7Actually, there is a problem with that. There's a difference between killing an animal for food and causing needless suffering such as stuffing chickens into tiny tiny cages just for their eggs. Factory farming causes a lot of animal abuse because the company couldn't give a rat's ass if the animal was suffering or not, as long as they get their profit at the end of the day.
- Acglaphotis, on 08/31/2008, -2/+1ALiberalMind: If I was making the kind of money they make, I certainly wouldn't either.
- aks123, on 08/30/2008, -8/+2^^
Yeah, killing humans is terrible. Gee, it's a good thing humans don't kill each other all the time...
Oh wait...your morality and logic fail. - boobsbr, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7the father should be sent to a mental institution for a stretch. let the doctors work out his problems.

- mystdragon333, on 08/30/2008, -4/+7Good job setting an example for the rest of the world to see.
- identitymatrix, on 08/30/2008, -6/+16That's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
- MacGyver2210, on 08/30/2008, -4/+2Nothing justifies 5-ing stabbing kittens, not even doom music.

- stretch611, on 08/30/2008, -4/+35I can only hope that he will never get to see his kids again.
- jnordb, on 08/30/2008, -1/+14Yeah, really. Ignoring the cat's fate, the kids were victims in this situation. This is mentally abusive to them.
- anotherghost, on 08/31/2008, -0/+0Article didn't say anything about taking them away, I'm betting he's right back with them, just with counseling.
- dxgg, on 08/30/2008, -7/+31Only 18 months??
- ortucis, on 08/30/2008, -1/+1Yeah, and no happy ending?
- rocketpop, on 08/30/2008, -2/+42This is wrong on so many levels. This isn't like teaching someone to kill a chicken for dinner, and even if it was, stabbing an animal is not the way to slaughter it. Forcing someone to stab their family pet? This bastard should get much, much longer for severe CHILD ABUSE. The animal cruelty should be secondary.
- MacGyver2210, on 08/30/2008, -11/+3WHY isn't it like teaching someone to kill a chicken for dinner? Is a chicken's life somehow less valuable than a cat's? Is a cow's? Is a deer's? Granted, they weren't doing this to eat(i hope) but it doesn't mean that it was as atrocious as everyone makes it out to be. I went hunting when I was younger than that, and it bothered me to the point that I can't kill a deer or anything, so I don't hunt. But I had to at one point, because my dad made me at least try it.
- userperson, on 08/30/2008, -1/+6Are you a vegetarian?
- maybeth, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7The difference is that you form a bond/attachment with a pet. Most people do not keep the other animals you listed as pets hence they do not form bonds with them. In addition, most people do not eat cats. These poor children obviously loved this animal as they tried to hide it from this evil maniacal mad man. I still have bad feelings towards my father for hitting and kicking my poor dog when I was 5. That has never left me. Now that he is elderly and defenseless like this cat and these children, maybe I should kick and hit him?? Obviously I won't but you get my point.
- kgalyen, on 08/31/2008, -1/+2stabbing an animal to death is different than hunting or killing a chicken. Any responsible hunter (or chicken-preparer) knows that. Killing and preparing an animal uses techniques to eliminate suffering, promote cleanliness, and its' done with an animal you have not formed a bond to. Very different!
- coolxal, on 08/31/2008, -1/+2The difference is that chickens aren't cute and cuddly like cats.
Ugly animals are worth less than cute animals.
- MacGyver2210, on 08/30/2008, -11/+3WHY isn't it like teaching someone to kill a chicken for dinner? Is a chicken's life somehow less valuable than a cat's? Is a cow's? Is a deer's? - LukasSmith, on 08/30/2008, -38/+5Who care's it is just a cat. Do you weep for every cow chicken pig duck or turkey that is murdered to present on your plate for dinner? Most people seem comfortable with this kind of murder as long as they don't see it up close. How would you like to to be electrocuted to death or have your head chopped off? Well that is the destiny of most farm animals. This pretty much describes people's reaction to suffering around the world. What you can't see, can't bother you.
- DJ1101, on 08/30/2008, -1/+16Obviously you dont understand that theres a difference between killing cows and chickens for delicious food and a father forcing his daughter to stab the house cat with a ***** knife.
- wkenri, on 08/30/2008, -3/+4When someone dies in your family who cares, it's just another low end piece of trailer ***** related to another low end piece of trailer *****... you.
- GluemanDK, on 08/30/2008, -2/+9Go stab yourself. I won´t see it so it won´t bother me. Thanks for the morals lesson, moron!
- Lith25, on 08/30/2008, -1/+17You obviously have never had a pet you cared about. Killing an animal that you have no "connection" with for food is entirely different from being forced to kill a family pet. I think of my own pets as family members, and I'm sure most people would agree that their pets assume very important roles in their lives.
- gquaglia, on 08/30/2008, -1/+11You missed the point. His two kids who were forced to witness and take part in the killing will be ***** up for life. People who kill animals for fun are a ***** hair away from doing the same thing with people. This genetic defect should be kept away from society as long as possible.
- ragingflamerboy, on 08/30/2008, -9/+2I dunno, when I was a kid I picked up a cat by its tail and swung around really fast - THAT'S pretty ***** up - and now, about 30 years later, I'm just your average every day tax payer. I haven't commited any crimes, and i haven't killed/stolen any children.
I think the kids'll be okay - there's far much worse on the evening news. - Lith25, on 08/30/2008, -3/+2Yea, i think the kids will be okay too. They will be able to get the counseling they need now, rather than having to hold that inside for the rest of their life.
- TheLoneHoot, on 08/30/2008, -0/+1@ ragingflamerboy

- thedogfatherx, on 08/30/2008, -1/+3Do you have a brain?
- MisteryMeat, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Killing a family pet is like killing a family member. That's the big difference here, not that anyone should really have to point this out.
- coolxal, on 08/31/2008, -1/+0You would put the cat on the same level as your wife and kids?
- userperson, on 08/30/2008, -4/+3@LukasSmith
I may see your point, but it seems you made it very poorly.
It is interesting how many people find this atrocious, but are okay with so many other forms of institutionalized violence against men and animals. They don't want to see it though. The acts do not matter, only the context it seems. - LeviTheSmith, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2There is a difference, see the people who kill the chickens/cows chose that job, this dude made his daughter stab her pet to death
- 1timeuser, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2Do you eat cats?
- theskillwithin, on 08/30/2008, -11/+3 it used to be that you cannot EAT if you don't teach them to slaughter. but a cat isnt an animal you eat so...
- BiGBiLLZ, on 08/30/2008, -18/+3For all we know the dirl probably killed the cat herself and the dad is just covering for his daughter. He is taking the fall so his daughter dosent have to spend her childhood in a psychologists office. But I could be wrong. Thats just another interpretation of the story.
- pilot3033, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4no it's not. killing your family pet doesn't get you 18 months in the slammer (even if it should), the jail time extended because the sick ***** traumatized his daughter.
- userperson, on 08/30/2008, -0/+1we all know? That's a weird interpretation.
- csw1342, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2Except for the fact that the other children watched him strangle it.
I'm all for random interpretations but RTFA.
- joekix, on 08/30/2008, -1/+10absolutely sickening.
- DontDoDrugs, on 08/30/2008, -3/+3Over 25,000 people die every day due to starvation alone.
Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (2003)- ortucis, on 08/30/2008, -1/+3DontDoDrugs, that's not 'sickening' cause that's life. Asking small kids to murder their pets isn't so common and not part of 'life'.
- DontDoDrugs, on 08/30/2008, -3/+3Over 25,000 people die every day due to starvation alone.
- M4dRefluX, on 08/30/2008, -2/+12His sentence should have been much longer than this. One thing to kill an animal, but to make an innocent child do it? That's just wrong.......
- SweatyGooch, on 08/31/2008, -1/+0Well somebody has to do the job..........
- 4321234, on 08/30/2008, -8/+4I'm sure when his daughter is an adult, she will look back on this bonding experience with dad quite fondly.
Yeah...that was sarcasm. - suzannethetiger, on 08/30/2008, -7/+16This is not something I want to read about, especially on Caturday! :(
- LastDitchHero, on 08/30/2008, -1/+39I grew up on a farm and I have killed plenty of animals. But killing a perfectly healthy animal for no reason is just *****.
- M4dRefluX, on 08/30/2008, -22/+1Farms kill a lot of animals that are in perfectly good health too.
- Spire3660, on 08/30/2008, -0/+16you missed the 'no reason' part, jackass.
- anotherjack, on 08/30/2008, -0/+4Depends on the farm. This isn't really about farming or animal husbandry...
- Ahzaz, on 08/31/2008, -1/+1He made them kill the cat so they could "learn how to kill."

- ViolentVirtue, on 08/30/2008, -4/+21Am I the only one who got to the part about him being a veteran and said, "oh," with a frightening amount of ease?
- moxley, on 08/30/2008, -1/+8Not all veterans are ***** - but being in the situation that a lot of these people are put in certainly can create monsters
- auntazalea, on 08/30/2008, -1/+2You know I had not noticed that- it seems like he needs a whole lot more then parenting classes.
- graphictruth, on 08/30/2008, -1/+4That, and the fact that it seemed to present the fact that he was two drunk to remember most of what happened that day to be a mitigating circumstance. Strong drink + PTSD; BAD combination!
- lbdinh, on 08/30/2008, -3/+1The fact that he's a navy veteran is irrelevant. There are animal abuse cases everyday committed by people regardless of their walks of life. Mentioning his veteran status instead of his current occupation is obvious propaganda.
Jesus people, I'm tired of hearing comments like "Oh it's another crazy veteran". How 'bout thinking for yourself for a change. It's bad enough that veterans face extreme prejudice when looking for a job because nobody wants to hire "another psycho".
Being a veteran doesn't necessarily mean he's been in combat or life/death situations. It just means he served some time in the military and who knows when and where.

No.
It's actually RELIGIONS that sacrifice animals in the name of "God".
You comment is completely nonsensical.- orp2000, on 08/30/2008, -4/+0Wow, atheists have NO sense of humor. I thought it was just Christians that had no sense of humor.
Oh, lighten up assclowns! - singingsox, on 08/31/2008, -0/+2Sarcasm is hard to detect over the internet, you know.
Why would you joke about that anyway? - jellygraph, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1"Wow, atheists have NO sense of humor." Another broad and insulting generalization... perhaps you are the only one who gets your humor
- orp2000, on 08/30/2008, -4/+0Wow, atheists have NO sense of humor. I thought it was just Christians that had no sense of humor.

***** scum- SamOut, on 08/30/2008, -4/+17I'd kill that *****..damn.
- brokenworlds, on 08/30/2008, -5/+21If someone killed my cat i would have no qualms with killing that person.
- fuzzy889, on 08/30/2008, -12/+6You do realise that makes you the crazy one?
- xptweakerntn, on 08/31/2008, -6/+1Fuzzy889 is right. Valuing the life of a cat more than a human makes you even more scum. Someone kills your cat, whip them good. Make them wish they never woke up that morning. Kill them? If you would kill someone over a cat, you're pretty psychopathic.
- fuzzmeister, on 08/31/2008, -1/+1That's a bit much, although you would definitely want to beat the living ***** out of them.
- atdakore, on 08/31/2008, -1/+6I wouldn't blame a driver for hitting my cat with a car, as long as it wasn't on purpose.
But this so called "dad" deserves to rot in hell for eternity.
- tgunner, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4This reminds me of a conversation I had at school with one of the usual jerks:
guy: "Gunner.... what would you do if I killed your cats... I mean c'mon"
me: "... that would be the worst, *and* last mistake of your life..."
guy: "Dude... you can't just kill someone over a cat! The police would find the body and then you'd be screwed."
me: "....oh.... they wouldn't find a body in this case; I'd see to that...."
After this he avoided talking to me for the rest of the year. I dunno why.
- runderwo, on 08/30/2008, -8/+2Yeah, this child will be much better off with her father in prison for showing her how to kill a critter! I love America!
