Danger! Safety Rules Can Be Hazardous to Your Children

burbia.com — ...they rolled their eyes and challenged this perfectly logical, potentially life-saving rule reminded me of citizens of the erstwhile Soviet Union, who were so bombarded with illogical laws that they [scoffed at] all laws-even smart ones like wearing seat belts. The general approach was:if the Soviet government said it was good for you, it wasn't.

I've found that my kids rarely put up a fuss about wearing safety equipment or taking safety precautions as long as they actually get to DO something cool (like jump the curbs with their bikes or launch rockets).
