After Cus D'Amato died Tyson went totally off the rails because the only people taking care of him were gold-diggers trying to get in on his fight purse (Don King et. al.). He made over 300 million over the course of his career and is currently bankrupt, mostly because of this exploitation. If you listen to some of his interviews (despite the adrenaline-fueled, self-righteous spiels you see in this clip) he always talks himself down, never claims to be anything special and is actually quite humble - I don't think he ever really cared about the money or the fame much, he just wanted to be something to someone and that was the anchor that D'Amato provided.

    Tyson was a brilliant fighter, one of the best the world has seen, but one hell of a cement-head and needed someone to point him in the right direction after losing both his father and his father-figure. I actually feel sorry for the guy, it could have turned out so much better for him.
