- goeatsmsht, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3Don't get me started on the retirement plan......
- killakan, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3Nope. See, they are considered Independent contractors or sole-proprietorships.
- smacksaw, on 01/10/2008, -0/+6He got greedy. IIRC, the max you can earn without losing disability is about $900-ish per month.
- Rustymetal, on 01/10/2008, -3/+3greedy? I could bank $900 in a week off weed. This dude sells crack, why the ***** aint he rich?
- kcap122, on 01/10/2008, -0/+6cause crack is a lot cheaper. And you don't sell $900 a week in weed, don't kid yourself.
- catfish182, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2maybe to himself he could.

- Brad324, on 01/10/2008, -4/+3If you're selling crack, then disability pay is pocket change.
- killakan, on 01/10/2008, -2/+4yeah, right. That explains why most drug-dealers live with their parent(s)
- chakl, on 01/10/2008, -1/+6those arent the drug dealers.

- juventus1, on 01/10/2008, -0/+6not really, the further down the pyramid you go, the more poverty. The people you see dealing crack on the streets aren't really paid well. They're the ones who do all they footwork, and are the ones who get arrested.
- garyc83, on 01/10/2008, -4/+2Derp derp! Someone read Freakonomics!
- roodammy44, on 01/10/2008, -0/+6Haven't you read Freakanomics?
Studies were done into how much crack dealers earn and it was found at around minimum wage.
It's just got a glamorous top job as head drug dealer - he earns practically all the profits.- Brad324, on 01/10/2008, -2/+1well I know someone who lives in a million dollar home and is pretty much retired, and he just sold weed from BC in Alberta.
- davewashere, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1The street dealers don't make squat. As someone already mentioned, a study found that crack dealers in Chicago were actually making less per hour than people flipping burgers at McDonalds, while at the same time risking years in prison if caught. The people making money are the people who produce the drugs and the distributors who sell drugs in large quantities to the dealers.

- Chassit, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3Good.
- LightPhoenix, on 01/10/2008, -1/+7Excellent, I hope this propagates. I'm sick of paying taxes for stuff like workers comp when it seems like half of the people who use it are abusing it. I'm sure there's people that don't... but that has not been my (admittedly anecdotal) experience at all.
- serend, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3just so you know workers comp is not directly payed by the workers its payed by the employer. although I'm sure the more workers comp insurance that is payed will lead to lesser benefits and raises.

5088 Destitute Way
Reno, NV
Summary: Hard-ass street thug seeking contract employment with local dope fiends in my area.
Work history:
2000-2008: Crack Dealer
Job responsibilities: Slang crack to needy bitches on the corner. Also cooked, chopped and bagged my own *****. Multitasked by dodging bullets, slapping hoes and running from the feds. Kept 95% of my fiends coming back for more.
Education: none
References: Available on request and after you've proved you're not a cop- offspring06, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4Thats pretty good.
- ziptnf, on 01/10/2008, -3/+3Brilliant!
But who has the last name "Crackdealer"? His mother didn't think that all the way through. - s0nicfreak, on 01/10/2008, -0/+7You don't come right out and say you were a crack dealer; you've got to jazz it up a little. Like, "Medicinal Entrepreneur".
"I oversaw and carried out the transport, preparation, and sales of medicinal goods to the needy, often in war-torn environments. I had several long term contracts. While I have no conventional education, I think my real life experience speaks for itself. *Due to the patient confidentiality act, references can only be provided to persons who are not employed by law enforcement agencies, and my customers may or may not use aliases."- hansk, on 01/11/2008, -0/+2do you work in Human Resources?
- hansk, on 01/10/2008, -3/+3what a moron
- s0nicfreak, on 01/10/2008, -3/+17Well if he's able to sell crack, he's obviously not too disabled to do a job; he could get a job selling something legal, if he wanted.
I once knew a guy (a friend's brother) who was on Social Security Disability because of being an addict... he was regularly drug tested, but they didn't do anything about drugs being in his system, because he was on the disability because he was an addict! So he basically got to sit around all day doing drugs, and got money handed to him, which he used to buy more drugs.
In fact, I don't think I have ever met anyone on disability who truly needed it. People with real disabilities tend to do everything they can to overcome those disabilities and get a job.- robcypher, on 01/10/2008, -0/+10That's true. My wife has a disability (Psoriatic Arthritis) which makes it very difficult for her to get out of bed some days or sit at a desk for 8 hours. She has considered going on short-term disability to ride out the bad spells but doesn't want to be a leech. Meanwhile her co-worker goes on disability for something much less severe. It's difficult when undeserving people take advantage of the system while those who need it are too proud. :(
- mahdaeng, on 01/10/2008, -2/+3A real man would not expect his wife to work anyway. A married woman should be able to stay home if she wants. She shouldn't need to go on disability in order to quit her 9 to 5 gig. Cut back on expenses, if need be, but don't expect your wife - especially if she's got health problems - to go to work. The problem here is you.
I dugg your comment because I agree with your complaints about the mooches, but I wholeheartedly disagree that your wife should have to work in the first place.
Go ahead and digg me down now, people - even if what I say is true.

- jonesin, on 01/10/2008, -5/+3A lot of people with disabilities often end up losing their jobs due to their disabilities. Especially if it's mental and not like outwardly visibly handicapped, because it's just so easy to discriminate against people who look like everybody else but aren't quite right in the head.
These are usually the same people who develop problems with drugs like addiction, and I don't know if you realize this but if you get convicted of a drugs crime you pretty much can't work again _ever_, for anything that requires a background check. And that rules out pretty much most jobs that pay above minimum wage.
There's plenty of crazy people out there who end up doing drugs one way or the other and after the conviction they're forced to live off that disability, even though disability wouldn't even cover the cost of a tiny apartment. So what are they left with as the only option to make ends meet? Sell drugs!- robcypher, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4That sounds like a cop-out to me. There are TONS of programs designed to help people like that. The only exception is if they are too "sick" to take advantage of the progam in which case they should probably be in an institution where someone can watch them 24/7. Not to mention that the guy in the parent was on disability because he was a drug addict not for a mental illness (although he may have been a drug addict because of mental illness, I highly doubt it).
- vikki77, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1My MIL is on disability. She recently had an organ transplant and spent almost a month in the hospital. There are people who need it, but generally those people are the people who don't want to use it unless they absolutely have to. She ended up staying on it because Medicare payed for her anti rejection drugs. She still can't work, but she hates sitting home all day.

- aflaks, on 01/10/2008, -5/+1I hope they dont cut his chocolate comp too!
- smek2, on 01/10/2008, -10/+3Selling crack or cocaine is a job? So it's legal then?
- killakan, on 01/10/2008, -2/+4A job does not have to be legal to be considered a job.
Now, STFU, dumbass. - Myonosken, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Bodysnatching wasn't legal.
- speerross, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Well selling cheese is a job isn't it, so how is selling drugs not a job?
- killakan, on 01/10/2008, -2/+4A job does not have to be legal to be considered a job.
- mogebier, on 01/10/2008, -0/+10So he has been leeching on the disability for 30 years??
What a freaking loser. No wonder he smokes and sells crack.
What a waste of skin and a burden on society. - SEN5241, on 01/10/2008, -2/+5$300-500 a week as a crack dealer? *****, ima get me a regular job where I don't have to worry about getting whacked or busted.
- doubledowndan, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1sounds like he was a corner guy
- mrremy, on 01/10/2008, -4/+0What the hell was the Ohio Supreme Court smoking?
Probably crack from Henry Lynch, Inc. It is a company after all with apparently decent benefits. - Member148, on 01/10/2008, -0/+9It cost approximately $35,000.00 annually to keep a prisoner incarcerated. Rounded off that comes to approximately $2917.00 a month. Don't look now, but it appears he is still getting government disability benefits and even more access to free services, which comes to an increase of approximately one thousand dollars a month. That is enough money to send him to college and/or have a parole officer assigned to follow him around on the streets for a year. Now tell me; what's wrong with this picture.

- Urusai, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2This one was easy to predict: Increases "tough on crime" cred: check. Prevents non-rich citizen from tapping into government money: check. What do you want to bet that if he tries to collect unemployment that his job suddenly isn't a "job" any more?
- mwang1999, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3Wasn't the way they eventually got Al Capone was not on the actual crimes committed, but not paying income taxes on his illicit earnings? I guess Ohio is applying sort of the same logic.
- EricAnderton, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Yep. That's pretty much it. An audit revealed that his declared occupation and income didn't even come close to matching what his actual lifestyle was.
- gak001, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1Is there any chance he was dealing crack because workers compensation wasn't covering his expenses or does workers comp. allow people to live pretty cushy lives too?
- tehowe, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1It's not just any job. It's a government job.
- SteveTheSultan, on 01/10/2008, -1/+0He needs to work on his sales skills. If he can increase revenue, he would not need the disability
- DteK, on 01/10/2008, -1/+6$300 - $500 a week selling crack?
This guy is either A)not a very good crack dealer or B)not in a very hot crack market.
He would have been better off working a fast food drive through. - Grimdotdotdot, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Did anyone else think he wasn't allowed a computer until they read the summary?
- mahdaeng, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Nice. Has this guy been paying income tax, too? If not, the IRS should be all over him.
- KC67, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2I hope he has to pay them back.
- blatantninja, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1The real question is if a parolee is dealing crack, can he still be sent back to prison for not holding a job?
- tuurd, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Owned. Stupid welfare *****.
- speerross, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1I'm inclined to agree, there's no reason for him to be taking unemployment benefits while making money off dealing drugs. It's just a shame that the State will arrest and incarcerate him for doing a job, hardly motivation to get off of benefits is it.

- PMG2007, on 01/18/2008, -0/+1Another interesting break for illegal activity, why don't I ever get these kinds of breaks. I get into trouble for everything
