tampabay.com — Woman ignores daughter for years in a house. The house is filled with trash, feces and bugs. Police take at age 5. That is 5 years of neglect. That is no interaction and early learning and development in the first 5 years of her life. Truly a heart wrenching story that shows the worst of humanity and yet the power of love.

I cannot even imagine how that could happen. It's unbelievable. I am so absolutely happy that she's with a family now that loves her and takes such good care of her. She's a beautiful little girl and she clearly has a bright future ahead of her with her new family. My heart goes out to her.

This story made me bawl, I just can't imagine someone doing that to their own daughter. Being a mother myself, this is heart-breaking.
- JBattin, on 08/31/2008, -0/+0I'm in shock towards the actions of the mother. strangely, though, I was reminded of my mother when i read this. not to say she put me or my sibs through this, but as i was reading this i totally saw my mom in my head. she was a smoker and a heavy drinker in my early childhood, but she at least had the presence of mind to interact with us. i believe there should be a petition to put this michelle woman in prison or at least take her off of the teat of the government which is most likely the case. ( she tripped over a box at wal-mart and got into a car accident so she can't work... *****, lazy bitch)
