    • megamod, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Trying to rescue something that is drowning (even a person) while they are in survival mode (must GTFO of here mode) is very dangerous. There was a guy that was drowning because he didn't know how to swim and his wife went in to try and help him. He is flapping around so wildly that he held her down underwater while trying to get out. It was only when he was out of the water and back to his senses that he realized what he had done...he drowned his wife.

      Now imagine what a fully conscious bear would do. Even tranquilized, you try carrying a 375lb of dead weight in the water and YOU try to stay afloat.

        he's still a hero but he's not as courages as the title lead some to believe.

Granted he was in a neighborhood but uh, we are invading their territory and not living with them. Where I am from bears are coming from the north and they haven't been here in decades but they can't survive where they were because we tear down their forests etc and take away their food supply. drunkmonkey01 is also right. He is not some caged animal.
