Kryptographik is a trans-continental podcast
featuring Brian (in the U.S.) and Damian (in Australia), providing news,
reviews, and commentary regarding science-fiction, dark fantasy and horror, in
and out of comics.
In our 12th podcast, we interview comic writer and
editor Chris Reilly and James Sime, owner of the Isotope Comic Book Lounge, two
of the five judges that put together this year's Will Eisner Comic Industry
Awards Ballot.
We discuss monthly comics vs. OGNs (original
graphic novels), extra content in monthly comics vs. collected editions, the
Direct Market vs. chain bookstores, printing on expensive paper vs. newsprint,
downloading digital comics, 52, Civil War, the new Captain America Omnibus,
MiracleMan, Lost Girls, Alan Moore, Casanova, Fell and (unsurprising to our
regular listeners) Warren Ellis.
We also discuss how comics are submitted for
inclusion in the Eisner ballot, marathon reading sessions, voting against your
friends, cup-a-noodle soup and how reading too many comics in one weekend might
send you to the hospital.
We even get James and Chris to name their favorites
for this year's final judging at the 2007 Comic-Con International in San Diego
this July.
