To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.
 
We warm things up by calling on the female voice for it ability to evoke the feeling of warmth and its capacity to energize first with programmer/songwriter Wade Alin and vocalist Lauren Cheatham working in symbiotic harmony as The Atomica Project as ethereal female vocals merge and entwine themselves in and around their signature downtempo beats.

American singer-songwriter Beth Hirsch may sound like one part Joni Mitchell to one part Rickie Lee Jones with a twist of Beth Orton and a dash of Suzanne Vega, but when you delve deeper you hear that she is a voice that is unlike any other.

Closing the warm-up is singer/songwriter Katie Herzig whose voice dances and weaves with the energy of a butterfly around melodies that bob and sway like flower heads in the wind.
 
Cranking it up this week is a long time favorite of ours who has just released some new tracks. Craig de Maio shows that if anything his talent to keep things funky and hip is growing as it leaps and bounds with to his infectious groove fusion sound.

To some labels are everything but when it comes to music labelling the sound of Nacao Zumbi as simply world music fails to acknowledge their masterful mixing of punk, funk and north-eastern Brazilian carnival music into a sound that is like a musical time machine mixing the past, present and the future together.

Sally Shapiro has seen her musical career picking up steam since she exchanged mix tapes with an office acquaintance in which lead to her first single, and two record offers, and now sees her trademark vocals and sound remixed.

Ecuadorian Cecilia Villar Eljuri shows off the effects of the musical melting pot that in New York City, supported by a musical family that lead her from composing melodies to her mothers piano playing to picking up the guitar and discovering it's power and voice,  whether plugged or unplugged, to work in harmony with her own.

Keeping things moving to a sound from South America is Brazils De Madrugada made up of the trio of Simon Papa wrapping his voice around the work of Brazilian guitarist Roberto Taufic and then having the combined effort mixed with the skills of Federico Mahjong Conti to keep it's roots firmly planted in the soil of Brazil, while spreading them into nu-jazz, chill, and broken beat.

Mark Southeron and Hayden Turner, as Tokyo 507, show off their amazing grooved jazz guitar sound, easy dance beats topped off with silky-smooth vocals. Even more amazing is the fact that they do it all oceans apart with Mark in Sydney and Hayden roaming the globe.

Bosnia DJ Baggi Begovic brings his passion for hot, house banging sets and teams up with DJ Funkerman's love of the house/funk hybrid to create a one of a kind beat, before Tennishero returns with their music that is best described as sounding like a David Hockney picture, as we then close the workout with Soma Sonic, the brainchild of producers/songwriters (and brothers)  France and Dominic Paterson.

Cooling things down are Montana based band The Clintons showing off their softer John Mayer inspired side, before Kaki King takes over and we close with an artist simply know as Katrine from Norway whose clear voice and simple piano work show that less is often more.
