- aki009, on 08/04/2008, -1/+13Saudi Arabia is fundamentally a dictatorship. Dictatorships are prime candidates for the wackiest laws and even worse law enforcement. Throw in religion, an unpopular ruling family, lots of oil revenue, and you get... Saudi Arabia!

- RHMiller, on 08/05/2008, -0/+22 cheers! Finally, something to really be offended about.
You are right - bombing and killing innocent civilians is something to get riled up about. I agree.
Now doesn't an international law against cartoonists look even sillier? - aki009, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2"OSAMA. created by usa for their own oil purpose"
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I would point out that claiming that bin laden was created by the USA is quite some stretch and reeks of ignorance. If anything, Clinton -- through ignorance and focusing his attention to his own pecker -- allowed bin laden to gain the status and position that he had, but even he didn't "create" osama. Today, of course, bin laden gets to enjoy a nice view to the inside of a different cave every night.
"they not killing millions of peoples every month and day"
Huh? The last time I checked every accidental killing of a donkey (let alone civilians) was cause for investigation and court martial, all the while various lunatics with plastique and ball bearing belts wonder into various crowded places to find out if they truly get a bunch of virgins at the end of the day or not. I'm not sure where you get your "facts" from, but I suggest switching to the Weekly World News, as it'd be an improvement.

- cashman57, on 08/04/2008, -2/+9 These offensive practices would offend any freedom loving society but SA is our "ally" in the region so our covernment says nothing and we allow them to set up schools in our country that teach these backward practices as if they were normal.
It is ridiculous that we keep our diplomatic mission in SA when they murder people for changing religion. We have more oil and cleaner crude in Colorado than there is in all of SA and we don't need to keep importing from them.
Where's the outrage? - kojaa, on 08/04/2008, -1/+4But those things you described only happen in two countries Iran and Saudi Arabia, if you look at countries like turkey 99% Muslim, Indonesia with 200million Muslims, both are genuine liberal democracies were human rights are respected, and in other Muslim countries like Malaysia, Syria and Jordan, women have equal rights and people wear whatever they want, and the people -not the dictators- are not happy about the status of human rights in their countries.
- RHMiller, on 08/04/2008, -2/+6Iran Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, Somalia, Iran, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Yemen, Palestine (territory).....all those 2 choose from and you picked the most progresive?
That's ok. It doesn't negate my main point - that the outrage directed at cartoonists for "blasphemy" from the Muslim world could better be directed inward. We are comparing a cartoon to execution and subjugation of women and other minorities INCLUDING OTHER RELIGIONS. T
Then they scream for an international blasphemy law (the so-called moderate states too). Read the article and the links...and remember that this is the first of three parts. - PrintScrn12, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6Welcome to what happens when religion is heavily injected into the running of the state. Particularly if the interpretation of the influential religion is a fundamental one.

- RHMiller, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I actually agree with you 100% on this one. I do not think any government has the right to outlaw holocaust denial. The market-place of ideas weeds those idiots out on its own.
- aki009, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4I agree with RHM. It shouldn't be the government's job to tell you what can be said or can't.
I can't but point out that in the United States you could say all of the above, print books, magazines and pamphlets that state so as well. Perhaps make even videos of it, or informational "movies".
But, as you can read from RHM's postings, the same can't be said for Saudi Arabia and many other Muslim countries.
- catcher6250, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Muslim Extremism is getting way out of hand!
