The grassroots is saying plenty already, and the GOP can issue disclaimers saying that they only consider the various posts thoughtful, and they don’t necessarily agree with the content or all of the author’s other work.
Imagine how much buzz that blog would create in a matter of seconds. It would bring together a lot of right-wing bloggers that are a very loose network right now, and get their audiences to meet each other in earnest. Then activism could begin with a scope hitherto unrealized: remember, there were 47 million votes for McCain." - ashok, on 11/16/2008, -1/+17It would probably help to link to the site being discussed:

A very useful discussion already has been taking place here:
http://digg.com/politics/RNC_launched_new_grassroo ... - NoLibertarians, on 11/16/2008, -4/+9The site should go, it's already being spammed to death....
- ashok, on 11/16/2008, -2/+7I don't know whether that's a point against it or for it. If the opposition senses a threat - i.e. people even merely willing to admit they're Republican - then inasmuch as the party is trying something, it's probably a good thing.
- NoLibertarians, on 11/16/2008, -3/+6Look at some of the ideas and comments on the site and other sites as well..Many favor the ideas of supporters of an also ran former republican Presidential Candidate...Also realize the same people are spamming it using various names..Can't trust anything on the net today..The very people who love the net, actually are helping destroy it !
- ashok, on 11/16/2008, -2/+6@ NoLibertarians: That might be the quote of the year: "The very people who love the net, actually are helping destroy it!"
- NoLibertarians, on 11/16/2008, -3/+7Ironic, isn't it ? Just like some folks who supported gun rights helped defeat McCain..people bite of their nose to spite their face

- Navigator7, on 11/16/2008, -3/+15@ Ashok, I agree!
I'm for following conservatism, the constitution and guided by that found in the Good Book!
If Pelosi and Reid followed conservatism I'd line up. They don't. I won't.
When I see the Republican Party trying to appeal to soccer mom's, PC Californian's, and people who think The Volt is a car ... I just want to puke.
It's very simple: Conservatism ... when it is followed always succeeds. It is a disaster when blended.
Bush and McCain failures were entirely liberal in nature.

- reaper527, on 11/16/2008, -1/+12i think conservatives need to embrace the web. i agree with you that the website isn't that good, but at least they are making an effort at a party level to use the internet to their advantage.
could they have done better? definitely. but at least its a baby step forward. you definitely have a point about uniting right wing bloggers, and that is something that party has to do.- ashok, on 11/16/2008, -1/+6They didn't do this right at all. If you go to any webmarketing guru, they'll tell you that nearly every facet of that site is flawed. The objectives are unclear; nothing is front and center; there's no engagement with the conservative/Republican base that already exists.
It's so bad it is offensive. I will not give plaudits for trying, not this time out - when I work on my blog, I do the things I'm criticizing them for failing to do automatically.
If they wanted to use the web better, use it to tell us who's in the party that we should be paying attention to. Who's solid on policy proposals that we're not hearing much about? Where are the interesting intra-party debates that would inform us as voters on how Congress and state and local gov't work?- shupy, on 11/16/2008, -9/+2It takes education to be technologically savvy. The modern Republican party has embraced anti-intellectualism. Technology is inherently progressive.
- wilgeno, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Well, I'm Conservative and I'm a Sr. Web Application Programmer. So I think I've embraced the web. The difference is we do not have legions of mind numb children Obama-Bots spamming the blogs with propaganda.

Fiscal conservatives are a must in this party. No fiscal responsibility has cost this party dearly.
There are several positions for which we could support Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin, but there are many more issues for which we cannot. Therefore, we have no choice but to help take the Republican Party back. - wilgeno, on 11/16/2008, -2/+9Well we need to hammer that site with full Conservative power. We know they are not going to read our blogs and listen to us. If this is they way they are going to get input from the "grass roots" we need to give them info.
I had an interesting experience during the campaign this year. I live in St. Paul, MN and I have a Conservative blog. Someone from the Norm Coleman (R) Senator, MN campaign called me after reading my blog. They wanted me to come work for them. She said they needed Conservatives to help. Well Norm is no Conservative. He was a Liberal Democrat when we was the Mayor of St. Paul. Now he's a Moderate (Liberal) Republican. I outright refused to work for him and I told this woman why. I also told her that they needed to run a true Conservative. She said they would not do that. The reason. They believe that having a Liberal Republican win is better than a Conservative loosing. To these professional campaigners it's all about winning and nothing about ideology, morals and beliefs. Until we hammer the point home that Conservatism matters and will win they will not listen to us.
So as much as that site sucks we need to flood it with Conservatism.- shupy, on 11/16/2008, -8/+2Ahh, and you still think that conservatism will win?
This is not a conservative country. It was not founded as such. The founders were revolutionaries. The conservatives stayed in England.
Now you want to make this country into a conservative country, it is not going to happen. People come to the United states to break free, not to be tied into a conservative set of ideals. You are in the wrong country if you truly want to live as a conservative
The closest group to the original founders are the libertarians. The modern democrats resemble the moderate labor parties of england and canada.- wilgeno, on 11/16/2008, -1/+6Actually almost all of the Conservative issues or candidates on the ballots WON in the past two elections. The losers are so called Moderate Republicans. They try to out "Liberal" Liberal Democrats and when the people are faced with a choice between the two they choose the real deal. As soon we run true Conservatives the votes go to Conservatives.
This means that the country is not mostly Liberal.

- PuterPrsn, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5Your remarks are the main reason nothing gets done in the Republican party - we are too scattered and to into our individualism to bother to find our common ground. We need to band together, but everyone has a different idea of what to band together around; therefore, we remain a bunch of splinters instead of a handle to hammer home our main agenda items that we can all agree on.
Think about that - and see if we can't use "contact us" and other methodologies to turn the site into what we need to rally around our main agreement points. Without that, we're sunk again.- wilgeno, on 11/17/2008, -2/+1I'll stayed splintered if joining means giving up all my values and beliefs so the so called Moderate Republicans can keep screwing things up. I refuse to keep doing what we've been doing since 1998. No more Moderatism. No more Liberals masquerading as Conservative Republicans. No more McCain's or Bush's or Coleman's. They are the problems. They are not Conservatives. They proven how to lose. How to screw things up and how to destroy the Republican party.
We as Conservatives need to take it back. If you do not agree with us then YOU'RE in the wrong party.
