- MrRobotoSki, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2That sounds like a great plan.

The Congress has already passed the United States Code, which provides criminal procedures for any Constitutionally legitimate situation.
They get a Habeas Corpus hearing, and if they're legitimately held, then they get a timely trial, and THEN if they're convicted of Murder, they get executed.
If any criminals go free, it is *ONLY* because the Loyal Bushies didn't want to obey the law regarding prisoners held in the government's custody in the first place. And THAT is no-one's fault but the Loyal Bushies.
And what about those who *CHOSE* to commit the crime of torture? How come we haven't seen them get arrested and held for trial? - blackjack75, on 07/05/2008, -1/+5Makes you wonder about the timing of this. A few months from now there's a serious chance another government will be in place. They prefer to get rid of those detainees before anyone can start asking questions.
- obliviousfool, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Asking Congress?!
That's rich.
Bush: "Hey Congress, what are *you* going to do about *my* problem?"- Ricky81682, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3Congress: "Hey Bush, since we don't have a spine, how high do you want us to jump this time?"
Folks, read the Supreme Court decisions. The Supreme Court told Bush and Congress if you want to keep these folks, either charge them or suspend habaes corpus to everybody (and get a damn declaration of war). Instead we get "Authorization for Military Force", Military Commissions Act, etc. all to give Bush some made-up middle ground so that the public doesn't know what he's really doing.

- Rotzooi, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Wait, they are "suspected **terrorists**" , yet Bushie isn't planning on bringing them to trial.
That leaves two options, both disturbing:
-We can't bring the 'Worst of the worst' (quote from Bush) of this world to justice because of our extreme incompetency.
-These are just innocent bastards who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, yet have been imprisoned, tortured and denied basic human rights for 7 years now.
Damn.
