Has Right Wing Radio's War on the Left Become Reality?
deusexmalcontent.com — an America where your new non-white neighbors are terrorists, immigrants are stealing your job, homosexuals want to lure your children into a life of sodomy, and treasonous liberals are plotting against you and your god at every turn. For almost a century, the litmus test for the lengths to which so-called free speech can legally be taken has come from Oliver Wendell Holmes, who famously ruled that "falsely shouting fire in a theater" was beyond protection; it's almost always been illegal to use a public forum to incite panic, violence or imminent lawless action. By that standard, there's just no way that any pundit at any time has crossed the line and broken the law. But legal doesn't always mean ethical, particularly not when you're refusing to take into consideration the fact that a substantial portion of your audience is made up of edgy, easily malleable "oppressed" white guys -- many of whom are now unemployed and looking for someone to blame for it.
Chez isn't afraid to connect the dots and tell it like he sees it. Could be a lifesaver if we take precautions now. I'm attending a huge Dem. forum this weekend (i'll keep the location private TYVM) and I am wishing for a kevlar vest
: (- Pitofdoom, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1How do you get to: "edgy, easily malleable "oppressed" white guys" !
Everything else said was excellent !- motivatedmama, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1"Substantial portion" ....and that be Chez : ) He doesn't much care who he offends but at least he doesn't advocate using a baseball bat to make a point.

- Kizilbash, on 08/15/2008, -1/+15I'm sure you have some examples for us where 'liberals' shot people for political reasons inspired by hate speech.

- susanswilk, on 08/15/2008, -1/+13LoneRanger85, are you advocating violence? Against whom?
By advocating "dishing it out", you are bringing exactly what you fear to our shores. Hate speech manifests itself as violence, as we have seen with the death of Mr. Gwatney, and the Unitarians
Go to church. You have lost your soul. - ajgasper, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4I definitely do not consider myself a liberal by any means. However, I fail to see how advocating violence at this level serves anyone's best interests, and cheap shots only reflect limited character and intelligence.
- SQLDigger, on 08/16/2008, -5/+1Nah, that's why they need a Big Brother police state to protect them and their cherished values of meddling in other people's business. I say we shoot them all, and burn their corpses as an alternative fuel source.
- JenniferInMO, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1I can't believe how much you miss the point here. Please listen to susanswilk, and on your way to church, please stop at the psych ward.

- ajgasper, on 08/15/2008, -0/+12I'm not sure about some of the comments here about curtailing freedom of speech. One person's freedom of speech is another person's justification to perpetrate injustice. It took me a while to figure out Al Sharpton, but I now have a distinct admiration for the guy. There has always been an uneasy feeling by those in power of revolt by the extreme on both sides. There has also been a tendency on both sides to use power to eliminate opposition. Where one draws the line is dependent upon their condition.
Anyway, having volunteered extensively on the Obama campaign my first thoughts were those expressed in this article. Working in rural Pennsylvania there were a number of stories of volunteers being spit on for wearing an Obama shirt, cars vandalized, obscenities, etc. I thought it was humorous getting the second glances wearing my Veterans for Obama button, but outside of a basic lack of respect, wasn't that concerned. There was, on the other hand, a particular aspect related to my bearing that if anyone pulled the stuff they did with the other volunteers, their souls may have belonged to God, but their butt's were going to be mine. However, that is my personality, and definitely not reflective of the majority of the volunteers I worked with.- Pitofdoom, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2Why Obama / Sharpton ?
- ajgasper, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1After I got past Sharpton's rhetoric, get in your face interpersonal style, and seemingly off the wall philosophies, I realized he was a voice for a large number of people who were not being listened to. I don't believe he has ever advocated violence, but the guy sure knows how to drive a nail when it comes to fairness in society and the legal system. The guy also has intestinal fortitude (balls), which I consider to be a very admirable character trait.
Lets start off with why not McCain? I was kicked out of high school. When I turned 17 I joined the Marine Corps. I spent 15 months with the infantry in Vietnam where I was decorated twice and wounded several times. I've known officers like John McCain, and the only thing they did was get people killed.
Why Obama? I grew up on the other side of the tracks. I have far more in common with Obama than any other Presidential candidate that has come along in my life time. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I have a tendency to trust him. I'm pro-life, and his approach is probably the best I've heard and the most likely to curb the number of abortions in this country. I don't believe abortion is morally or ethically correct, but on the other hand I don't want to turn back the clock to back alley abortions. I am also a strong proponent of the right to bear arms. Again Obama's approach, particularly in Illinois was probably the most pragmatic balance between constitutional rights and stemming violent crime in populated areas. Then there was his stand on NAFTA and the Iraq war. Not that they were right or wrong, but he was pretty much out on his own on those. Health-care, anything is better than what we have in this country. Our health system is inferior to all the developed nations, and some third world countries have better. The only beneficiaries are doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and NIH. His tax plan is going to benefit me, and Wall Street thinks he will be better for this country. He makes the Israelis nervous, and the other middle east countries, particularly the more radical, have given pause to him. He can talk to goat herders and he can talk to the rich and famous. Him and his wife may not know how to bang fists, but if that is the only issue, this 57 year old white guy would be willing to teach them. - Pitofdoom, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Personally I don't think Sharpton seeks after Wisdom nor Honor but divisive publicity.
Obama's a crafty socialist / communist.
Sorry I must keep my word from other posts
regarding Obama, and laugh in your face.

- marabout40, on 08/15/2008, -1/+13Our freedoms aren't free. They've been hard fought and won and we need to cherish them and understand that in order to maintain those freedoms we have to excercise good judgment and responsibility.
If someone's "free speech" is hateful and incites violence, he/she should be held accountable.- neognostic, on 08/15/2008, -0/+7I agree my friend, and would like to add that most of the people who spew hate speech don't realize that there are a LOT of nut jobs out there who only need a small push to make them go over the deep end.
- Pitofdoom, on 08/15/2008, -4/+3Please define the manner of accountability ?
- B1663r, on 08/15/2008, -1/+7That if you were a... radio personality... and you signed the FCC no drug abuse pledge that every radio station makes its personalities sign before they go on air... and you developed a noteworthy drug abuse problem... that you get banned from radio forever.
- thepoliticalcat, on 08/15/2008, -1/+11I've always believed strongly that people like Limpballs, Coulter, Savage, and their ilk have crossed the line that demarcates a civilized society from violent anarchy. They've been pouring poison into the ears of the marginally sane and inciting hatred and violence. I have no idea why they are tolerated.
- Pitofdoom, on 08/15/2008, -8/+2The poison of which you refer, please elaborate for I am marginally sane ?

Rev. Don Spitz said...
Why do you care if a babykilling abortionist gets shot? You hypocrite, you don't care one iota about the thousands of innocent babies that babykilling abortionist murders, you only care when the mass murderer reaps what he sows. I'm glad that babykilling abortionist was shot dead, now he is not killing any more innocent children. He reaped what he sowed.

Normally, I'd just laugh at you Don, because you're an idiot. But since you're obviously sincere in your terrifying conviction that killing a living, breathing human being is the correct remedy for abortion -- and what's worse, to believe this because your non-existent god tells you so through 2000 years of superstitious nonsense -- there's nothing I can say to convince you that you're wrong. Like I said in the piece, we come from completely different worlds.
But now that I think of it, maybe not quite so different: I'll risk negating everything I said in the column by admitting that if you'd given me a gun and told me that I could've acted with impunity, I might've personally put a bullet in Paul Hill's head -- if nothing else just to wipe that smug smirk off his face after killing John Britton and James Barrett.
By the way, ***** off and don't come back here again. - jhamal33, on 08/16/2008, -8/+0

No. I know lots of black people that talk in perfect english and stay out of the black churches. Looking at all your comments, you seem too much like a bad stereotype to be anything but a white racist trying to scare other white racists. I am glad I don't know any actual black people like you.
