McCain is Running on the Amnesia Platform
huffingtonpost.com — During his acceptance speech, John McCain had some very strong criticism of his opponent. I'm not talking about Barack Obama; I'm talking about George Bush. After rushing headlong into the embrace of Bush and the Rovian wing of the GOP, McCain has now decided that he desperately needs to distance himself and try to reclaim the maverick mantel.

"Listening to McCain, you'd think it was the Democrats who occupied the White House the last seven-plus years and it was time to throw the bastards out." - Arianna Huffington- sullivanst, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3The best way to restore the Republican's pride and principles is to let them sit out a few years.
That's the idea of elections: you get rid of the incompetents and the corrupts.

Not an easy thing to do when you have sided with Bush 90 percent of the time."
So much for "change" from Republicans. - killigan, on 09/05/2008, -0/+21Very good advice. Time to stop worrying about the side show of Palin and time to start worrying about the lack of solutions from the person actually running for President.
- wyldraven, on 09/05/2008, -0/+19FTA: "Democrats need to ignore Palin, and keep the focus on reminding voters about the stark contrast between an Obama and a McCain administration. It's tempting to prime the Palin attack pump. But Obama and the Democrats do so at their own peril."
That's the real bottom line. Palin is scary, and once again they are using fear to distract us from our goal. - lostlyrics, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6as mclame bragged about his

catch a std before you can lead a woman - MsLaurel, on 09/05/2008, -0/+16Keep driving home the issues, McCain's voting record and his lack of a concrete plan, and investigate Palin's association with Big Oil:
(This spring, Palin told Alaskans that renewable energy would not be ready for years when, in fact, 28 states plus Washington DC have renewable energy programs. She then sued the EPA for protecting polar-bears, because that might interfere with drilling on the ANWR preserve, which is 1/4 the size of the other Alaskan land-leases already held by Big Oil. Palin needs to work as a lobbyist for Big Oil, but she's having way too much fun blowing-away wolves and their cubs in Alaska.)
Let Palin run her mouth until she turns everyone's stomach. - tcbishop12, on 09/05/2008, -0/+14What a vaccuous blowhard speech it was. Full of generalities and large promises, devoid of specifics or any hint of concrete policy.
"Listening to McCain, you'd think it was the Democrats who occupied the White House the last seven-plus years and it was time to throw the bastards out."
Delivered by a stumbling, bumbling vaccuous old blowhard who relies on the hope that we can't remember longer than the candidate can himself. McCain: What did I have for breakfast, again? Oh, right. Fight -- fight? Fight!- marabout40, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4You have a stronger mind than I do, T. I would have blown my brains out if I'd watched that crap. Over the past few months, I've come to know John McCain as a "vaccuous blowhard," a lying, pandering, elitist, narcissistic, petulant, irresponsible, incompetent, hypocritical, uncouth, opportunistic bastard who doesn't give a ***** about this country. He's not the same as George Bush. He's f*cking worse!
Knowing all that, why would I ever want to hear anything he has to say, except if it is to say: "I apoligize to the American people for the wasting their time and energy, for the grossly deceit and outright fraud of a campaign I've been running, and because I genuinely care about my country and do put my country first, I will withdraw from this presidential race."
