- thebigdirty, on 11/01/2008, -0/+8Great article. Interesting comparisons.
It may be suitable to note that comparing a modern day conservative to a "Burkean conservative" might resemble a comparison of apples to oranges, slightly. Intriguing relation, nonetheless. - mc77, on 11/01/2008, -0/+8We keep reading and hearing these thoughtful well respected conservatives clearly and intelligently expressing pro-Obama views. They are well backed by fact and free of the normal republican fear, hate and rhetoric. Each time I read or hear one of these republicans for Obama, my stereotyped perception of conservatives is shattered. However, the psycho conservatives are always quick to reply with hate and rhetoric quickly reaffirming my previous held views of them.
- Scromp, on 11/01/2008, -0/+4Known at Dartmouth as "Easy Jeff" due to his penchant for lenient grading, which (perhaps unbeknownst to the undergrads) had his lectures well attended and his lessons more talked about. Glad that his version of conservative thought is still alive and getting its due airing.
- JumpingJack79, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4Not just Reagan and Nixon, even Dick Cheney would have agreed with Obama, back when he was still thinking with his head and not with his wallet. Watch:

One thing I know is that both Nixon and Reagan would have agreed with Obama’s speech against the Iraq War… But all the organs of the conservative movement followed Bush over the cliff—as did John McCain.
Who can argue with that statement??
It is the Truth!
Obama/Biden 08!
VOTE! - MsLaurel, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3I see the point; however, Nixon and Regan would have agreed with Obama and gone on to Watergate and Contra-Gate, anyway.
