Olbermann guest: Suspending habeas corpus has made us less safe
rawstory.com — Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley explains to Keith Olbermann that habeas corpus is not a dangerous luxury or some sort of lawyer's trick to get crooks out of jail, but "is actually the foundation for all other rights." We must urge our Congressional representatives to restore Habeas Corpus!

- jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1the constitution should be banned. In this age of terrorism and secularization, we need a strong man to deal with them. Democracy is overrated garbage as we shouldn't be looking to ourselves for the answer but God. We need a Christian theocracy. Laws should be based on the Divine word of God, not what everyone wants to do which will just lead to endless liberalization and no morals.
- drgkstep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I support this movement. Comments like jmpeagle (unless that was meant to be ironic) show exactly what the rest of us have to fear!
- bluelightnin90, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What is sad is that the founders didn't even see the need for the Bill of Rights. The reason they thought it wasn't necessary is because the powers they gave to to Federal Government were the only powers they should have. The government had no right or power given to it by the Constitution to restrict free speech, so they thought it was redundant to guarantee us the right to free speech. Too many people have it backwards, it's not what the president or Congress isn't allowed to do, it's what they are allowed to do. According to the Constitution it is very limited what they can do. That is why I support Ron Paul for president because he wants to restore that. I don't know if that would be possible even if he was elected, because we are so backwards right now.
