REPORT: Karl Rove May Be Leaving The White House In ‘Weeks, Not Months’
thinkprogress.org — "The rumors that chief White House political architect Karl Rove will leave sometime next year are being bolstered with new insider reports that his partisan style is a hurdle to President Bush ’s new push for bipartisanship. 'Karl represents the old style and he’s got to go if the Democrats are going to believe Bush’s talk of getting along.'"

The media is a mess. Trent (homosexuals are kleptomaniacs & I heart racialists) Lott BARELY wins his leadership post by ONE vote and the "BIG" story is that Murtha lost to Hoyer...even though everybody knew what the outcome would be before the vote took place.
Trent does NOT get along with Bush/Rove.
Liddy Dole is getting some smackdown...as well as Ken (Purse & Pearls) Mehlman. Mel Martinez is NOT well loved by the GOP punditry.
Seems like the GOP has fallen apart, or at least been shown that unless they are playing follow the leader, they have no idea what to do.- WellArmedLibral, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer . . . " Bush would be a fool to send Rove packing. He knows where two generations of Bushes have buried their mistakes . . .
- gameguy43, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2REPORT: this ***** just makes you sound stupid!
- skyshock21, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5No, I think Karl's just leaving to groom the next Republican candidate for pres. It's what he does. I wouldn't try to read too much into this.
- pegisys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"No, I think Karl's just leaving to groom the next Republican candidate for pres. It's what he does. I wouldn't try to read too much into this."
same thing I was going to post, his work is done as far as the Bush Admin. goes - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The BIG story was that Murtha lost because the incoming speaker of the house backed him, and he went on news shows the day before saying that he was a shoe in and that he "had the votes". It makes Pelosi look bad and makes Murtha look as though he was lying.
Martinez is HATED by the GOP community, because he is ridiculously soft on illegal immigration, as is Bush.
I would agree with you about the GOP, I don't know what happened to my party. First they abandon everything that makes them conservatives for the past 6 years, and then when they are put in their place with the last election, instead of trying to pull a 1994 with a new Contract with America, they get Martinez in as head of the RNC??????? Are you ***** me? The GOP needed someone like Steele in there, not someone who is going to agree with Bush for the rest of the time he is in office. Seriously, as a republican, ***** Bush, he is old news. We need to win 2008 with a viable candidate, and Bush is old news. He is worthless, STOP ASSOCIATING WITH HIM. - rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"The BIG story was that Murtha lost because the incoming speaker of the house backed him, and he went on news shows the day before saying that he was a shoe in and that he "had the votes". It makes Pelosi look bad and makes Murtha look as though he was lying."
And why, exactly is an equally BIG story not the fact that Lamar Alexander lost by one vote to Trent Lott (!) in the race for GOP whip? That has far more significance as far as the internal struggles for the soul of the GOP and its commitment (or lack of commitment) to change.
- fsboreal, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1thinkprogress does neither, nor
discuss... - zeeeej, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Karl Rove is a vindictive mofo. If he gets pushed out, it won't be pretty.
I heard James Moore (author of "Bush's Brain") interviewed recently (on Olbermann, I think), and Moore said Rove has his own version of reality, in which Rove is always right. If Rove gets ejected, he could come to see the White House staff as his enemies. It's not fun to be Karl's enemy. Publishers would pay big, big bucks for a tell-all book from Karl Rove.- Azur2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Wont happen. Karl Rove isn't an idiot - he wont burn his chances of becoming a highly paid lobbyist by showing that he's unable to keep his mouth shut.
Also, Rove *is* a neocon true believer, I doubt he'd ever do anything to hurt The Cause. - Wartyboskfapped, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9There's no evidence that Rove is a neocon 'true believer'.
There's only evidence that he has an eye to the main chance.
He's certainly not overtly religious - he's agnostic. Most of the hardcore Neo Conservative thinkers are either strongly Christian, or Jewish, or have ties to those values. Rove does not.
Rove is in it just for power. There's nothing to indicate he is a NeoConservative thinker - he was not (IIRC) a member of the PNAC. - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2OMG, if Olberman and Moore say it, you know it must be true. Seriously, are you that frothy with koolaid that you cannot see them for what they are?
As for Rove, he is a strategist, and that is all. What could he possibly have left to strategize about? There is nothing left to coordinate with Bush, he is done.
- Azur2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Wont happen. Karl Rove isn't an idiot - he wont burn his chances of becoming a highly paid lobbyist by showing that he's unable to keep his mouth shut.
- iching, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I will be surprised if it will happens. Rove's history with junior goes so far back that turd blossom's (junior's term not mine) and junior's fate and fortunes are the combined at the hip. I think that the removal of the tumor will kill the patient.
- whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17gotta love Bushie going all bipartisan now that he knows he doesn't have congress willing to bend to his every need...
- oricyst, on 10/12/2007, -12/+0Bushie? You sound like a 5 year old, let's just hope that if this does happen some real stuff might actually get done by Bush and the Congress in the next two years. Go watch Manchurian Candidate again and leave the decisions to the adults.
- Azur2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Getting rid of Rove will have been a demand from the dems to cooperate with the president.
Well, I never really thought sacrificing Rumsfeld would be enough.
I wonder which industry Rove will become a lobbyist for? Oil or military hardware?- amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4He'll be the new spokesman for Pestilence as taking the positions of War, Famine, and Death are just too subtle for him.
- Memitim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Don't let the door hit ya, you divisive prick. Rove has done more to tear this nation apart than Osama ever could in his wildest dreams. I hope that ***** gets ass cancer.
- dvfreelancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15If there was justice in the land he'd be leaving the White House in custody. Jail's too good for that scumbag, but the ass pounding that pansy would take would be a pay-per-view event.
- TheCatalyst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12He should have went down with the Abramoff scandal.
Better late than never I guess.- Wartyboskfapped, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10There's still time for that.
- Futurepower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12It's true, George W. Bush calls Karl Rove "turd blossom". Other people call Karl Rove "Bush's Brain". For a link to the movie "Bush's Brain" see my summary of Bush administration corruption:
http://futurepower.org/Bush_Comedy_and_Tragedy.html
George W. Bush does not think of the things he says (except when they are obviously stupid). Someone else writes it, and G.W.B merely reads it. See the comedy video linked in the first section of my summary "George W. Bush is a robot controlled by a German".
Without Karl Rove, G.W. Bush could not have been elected. Karl Rove invented the skillful lies that caused "Christian" evangelists to believe that G.W. Bush was one of them.- iching, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree they both need each other.
Junior was really never a success at anything until turd blossom joined up with him. Rove strategies are not just for the elections but an essential part of portraying junior to be something he is not to the public and also taking national news and information to distract the public from the short comings of real policy. The Terri Schiavo affair and his handling of the religious right is a classic case, where the public was distracted and brain dead rather than looking at national issues that really effected them such as the War and the deficit.
Rove is famous for misdirection, misinformation and catapulting the propaganda in order to achieve anything for political gain for junior and junior knows this because of their history together.
Only if he becomes a political/legal liability by becoming indicted for his participation in illegal actions such as the Valerie Plame affair will he leave. Junior, I think, would be lost without his Gobbles.
- iching, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree they both need each other.
- omgwut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Good.
- dddddd32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This suprises who exactly?
You see, there are no more referendums on Bush any more. Hes not up for reelection and there are no more midterms before voters face two fresh candidates in 2008. So, essentially, Rove's job is obsolete.
If you want to know whether Rove is in the doghouse, watch and see where he goes. If he dissapears, hes on the outs, if he takes a job at the RNC then he's not. If he takes a job with a republican candidate for 2008 then he's not.- 1159, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I seriously hope that he doesn't end up at the RNC or working for a 2008 (R) candidate as this would, IMO, hurt the Republican image. This country has been so divided thanks in large part to his tactics and I think people are tired of hating the other side.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Rove was only allowed to walk amongst humans for a while before his Dark Master beckoned he return to the netherwordly depths.
- Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2More thinkprogress spam. When's Rove going to be frogmarched into the courtroom over that super-secret sealed indictment, by the way?
- rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Still haven't gotten over losing the election, have you?
- Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Still haven't produced that magical smoking gun for Rove yet, have you?
- rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Still haven't gotten over losing the election, have you?
- Truthandreality, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Anyone who believes a word anyone in the Bush administration has to say can only reasonably be described as clinically braindead.
- Odwalla, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Of course he's leaving next year. Bush can't run in '08 and Rove can't legally run the campaign for another Republican from within the White House. This is no surprise. He's not going to end up destitute on the street or anything. Instead of being paid with taxpayer money for being a staffer he'll be paid with campaign contributions for whomever the Republicans front as their hopeful for '08.
- rvallee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The term "political architect" doesn't quite capture Karl Rove's role. Politics is about policy-making, regardless of how many people would like to lump together that part of post-election politics with the marketing-based work of election politics.
Karl Rove is a salesman. He sells politicians. He sells ideas. Whether it's a fast car or the fresh smell of freedom with your breakfast eggs doesn't really matter.
A political architect builds political systems and visions of societies. Karl Rove is a salesman. Don't give him too much credit. - neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The bigger story here that most people have missed is that as soon as this election looked seriously ***** up, daddy swept in, and started to take over Jr's little disaster. Look at the new commissions, the DOD appointments & whatnot, this is bush 41, not 43 at work.
Baker is going to clean up the white house, negotiate with Iran & Syria, and send Jr out there to ink some documents. Its clear that 43 won't be making anymore 'progress' domestically so its now time to have him set his sights abroad and try to patch some of the world up.
After all, only Nixon could go to China. - otaleks, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Karl Rove waved at me once while I was video tapping him from a distance outside the white house.
- kayaus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11OMG! That is SO kewl!!! How long did your Mom let you hold the camcorder??
Karl Rove is the embodiment of pure, unadulterated evil made flesh. If he leaves, it will NOT be for any kind of altruistic reason like promoting bipartisanship. It will be to begin formulating his next vile smear campaign targeting any and all potential Democratic hopefuls for ’08. With any luck, he will suffer a severe debilitating injury or contract some kind of rare, painful and incurable terminal flesh-eating bacterial disease before Christmas. Fingers crossed! - Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1@kayaus
You are an idiot, and anyone who shares the same political affiliation with you should be embarassed over the mere association with nutjobs like you.
- kayaus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11OMG! That is SO kewl!!! How long did your Mom let you hold the camcorder??
- Quash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Google "Karl Rove" and "Miss Piggy" and post your results here.
Rove has been using the Christian Right for years, as did the very Waspy East Coast Bush family, who seeing the demographics beginning to shift south, reinvented themselves as Texan oil men with an born again Christian offspring who tripped in to the White House.
Like I said, Google "Karl Rove" and "Miss Piggy" and post your results here. - bshock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Six years ago wouldn't have been soon enough for Rove to leave.
This piece of subhuman filth should do us all a favor and leave the planet. - diggtomanjeri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Won't happen. Bush's only policy focus is Iraq and Terrorism which Rove has nothing to do with. Rove's main job is campaign-related issues and he's not in with any of the potential '08 candidates, particularly McCain. Rove has more access and more power while working from the Whitehouse and he and Bush only mission other than the War is to get conservative judges appointed, something Rove is particularly adept at. He'll stay on but his role won't have anything to do with policy.
- sageres1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0So what? You klintonoids will always have your stephanapolises, murries, reichs, karvilles and many others. We all do. fricking naive kids are posting this who don't know jack about politics and its nature in america, i'm telling ya.
